10 Benefits of Roller Skating 

Skating has made me feel less alone even though I was alone, I may not be the best looking but skating made me confident about my looks and body, and knowing how to skate got me to skate with my crush ;)

Putting wheels on my feet somehow make me feel sooo much more confident and I love it! So much fun to go to the skating rink with friends too. I also love exploring my town on wheels

It just makes me happy!!!

Fantastic Molly, I've had MH problems and skating has probably saved my life. It's like a 24/7 MH first aid kit that works like a dream, if I'm wired awake at 3 a.m. feeling scared I can just whack my Moxis on, pad up and go round the corner to the supermarket car park : ) I'm so glad you have found a healthy solution to your problems.

I'm BDP too and got my roller derbys and I'm trying after my second hospitalization to skate again. I used to skate (in a skate saloon) since I had 6y/o and like 4 years ago due my BDP and other 3 psychiatric conditions I gained 45kilos. I've lost like 20, and I feel a little bit more in condition to skate. The feeling of skating is like flying, I love it! So I'm making the transition from inside to outside skate (wish me luck) but the most important, keeps me away of my depression and BDP. I'm focused only in the feeling of my body and mind and the wind in my face... I'm glad this helped you.

Wow... was looking for a sign for what a good activity would be for me lately. ESPECIALLY with BPD.... I’m really struggling with controlling my emotions and whatnot. I feel as if something fun an active such as this, can help a lot.

Good for u last time I skated was when I was 50 I'm almost 75 just orderd mine last year I'm in mexico and no roller rinks or smooth places or just to hot so been practicing in my garage, I hope u live in a place that's roler friendly, I miss my roller skating time,

Make sure you get wrist guards, knee pads and elbow pads, too. :) busted knees and elbows and broken wrists can happen just the same as a cracked skull. Peace.

i live in cali and can skate lmao. it’s great here, especially since i live 2 hours away from long beach so i can skate on the weekends whenever i want :D

When we were skating in London people absolutely hated us, it was nuts they were so mad, we weren't even in the way.

I skate in England, and love it, and get moaned at when in the road also. If you get in a roadside row remind the driver you have the same legal rights on the road as any other vehicle, unless a strange by-law has been passed there. I don't get what the difference between a person on skates to someone on a bike. Often the paths are so bad where I live it's actually safer on the road

DON'T - under any circumstances - use headphones/earbuds while street skating. Especially the "noise cancelling" type of headphones. A speaker connected to your phone/MP3 player or other device that you can put in your pocket - on low - is fine, though. If you're looking to try dance skating, find a place with little (or better, no) traffic. Deserted streets, local parks with trails or tennis/basketball courts, etc. Be aware of your surroundings! Don't let your mind wander. When your mind wanders, your feet tend to as well. Kind of stinks when you're thinking about something and suddenly fall over a curb "in the middle of the road"! LOL Skating is supposed to be fun...let go of your troubles before you put your wheels on. Just enjoy the wind and odd looks (if you're in an area where outdoor skating isn't popular)...though do be prepared to stop and answer questions (just in case others in your area are curious but were too scared to skate until they saw you)! Like Indy and Pigeon said...it IS a great conversation starter. When learning (or re-learning), get those pads out and use them EVERY time you skate! Even the pros fall now and then...you will, too. That said, don't be scared to fall. Let it happen. Just watch Indy's tips on how to fall properly - and practice them - for when real emergencies do come up. Skate opposite. That is, when skating forward, make sure you're in the lane where you can easily see cars coming AT you rather than skating "with traffic". Same with backwards - when looking over your shoulder, the cars should be coming at you. You can easily see a big vehicle and get out of the way....the driver may not see you - a single being, on skates - until it's too late. One more thing....if skating at night, invest in some lights! They've got a TON of stuff on Amazon. Mostly under "Rave Gear" or the like. They have light-up bracelets, light-up shoe laces (I've got a pair on my shoes and another on my skates), gloves that light up, "finger lights", El Wire kits where you just wrap the "wire" around your body (they have small battery packs that easily fit into most pockets and the "wire" doesn't get hot at all), light-up headbands, earrings, ponytail holders (if your hair is longer), glow poi you could attach to your belt loops, and more. The best part is, most of it is fairly inexpensive. My shoelaces came in a 6 pack for around $10 (so, less than $2 per pair of laces). I also got slap bracelets that light up - 7 bracelets, each with a spare battery, that were only around $15 (so, a little over $2 each, BUT the extra batteries alone? They usually go for around $10 when purchased as a 4-pack - and you get seven. It's worth it for the batteries alone! LOL) The light-up stuff is great for outdoor skating as well as skating at your local rink when they turn the lights off and have the disco balls and such going. Oh! Almost forgot...they DO make several styles of lights that you can put on the plates of your skates, too! Those are a bit more expensive than the bracelets and such that Amazon has, though. Hope this helps with at least a few basics....sorry it was so long.

@@olive324 You're welcome. :) For the most part, it is really about common sense - know your area, know your surroundings, pay attention to what you're doing....but I would definitely recommend getting something light-up if you normally skate later in the day (after work...or before if you work late nights), just in case you lose track of time and end up being out a bit later than planned! (Been there, done that, long before finding light-up stuff, but thankfully I lived in a quiet neighborhood in northeast Ohio, so no worries about idiotic drivers trying to run us down.)

iplayabari 8675 if u have never felt gummy wheels it feels weird at first but u get used to it. The boot is stiff but it breaks in so I recommend wearing them everyday or when u have the chance to roller skate.

@@Ariii-fn5ey I had a pair of roller derby skates when I was around 10 (I'm 18 now) and I was good. They had gummy wheels and I much preferred it to my online skates with hard wheels. I used to skate around the house doing chores lol it was way more fun that way 😅

She's using a pair in this video I do have them as well and it really is a nice starter compared to other brands It may be a less quality than the moxi rollerskates but if you're gonna start roller skating you won't wanna spend a lot of money so the Impala rollerskates is a good way to introduce yourself into skating 😉

I personally have them and I love them ! I have pretty wide feet so I was afraid it might b uncomfortable but it’s super comfortable and cute !

I just got a pair and I love them! They’re so so comfortable, really good if you don’t want to pay the steep Moxi price/if you’re starting out. Plus all the colors and patterns are awesome, especially the holo! Definitely size up once from your regular street shoe size. I wear an 8 and ordered a 9. They fit perfectly, no issues.

someone asked her a question abt impala skates on an older skating video and she said theyre really good for starters. the plates are nice and the wheels are good (u can always swap them out for wheels of ur choice if u feel like it too!). i was curious as well bc i cant afford moxis rn so i got impalas.

@@samiam9925 She's not part of the Moxi skate team anymore so she can do reviews on whatever she likes, she mentioned it in another video a while back. Since she's wearing them in the video she might still be testing them out to give a more thorough review? Have fun skating!

Yea! I see those in the shop calling to me but I went with skates that were more durable and the moxi team trusts.
