The vets who preach raw is terrible are being PAID by companies to sell their trash....like science diet..... Alsl they r firmly aware how LAZY most pet parents are and are MOST LIKELY not going to keep their food areas and dishes CLEAN as2 prevent contamination. MOST PEOPLE just scoop kibble and keep DUMPING new scoops inthe SAME DIRTY BOWL everyday.

Thanks for the info. I have 5 longcoat German Shepherds. German Shepherds are known for tummy issues, and I battle it constantly. I always feed my dry food soaked in water and then give other items to chew on to clean teeth while chewing. I add a sprinkle of freeze-dried pumpkin flakes and pro and prebiotic. But I started buying Ruff Greens. I was doing this myself this with the fresh veggies, ect, but I wasn't aware of the green stuff that you talked about. We seemed to have difficulty, we're gassy, and I stopped. The Ruff Greens is essentially the same thing, only much more expensive. This will help me out. Thank you!!!

i was taking large amounts if psyllium husk to remove mucoid plaque from my digestive tract. and it worked . so i started replacing 1 of my dogs meals about 3 times a week with psyllium husk mixed with water to create a gel . then i would add pieces of chicken to intice them . the psyllium is basically fiber and it works as a binder . i was removing black rubbery crap from their intestines. in a couple months they got rid of their bloated bellies and their energy levels increased tremendously.

Moisten the kibble with water, or broth first. I put about 3/4 c in 2 cups of kibble. Mix well and add some fresh food.

On kibble my dog would periodically get backed up to the point she would not go for days, then I'd wake up to a mess. I switched to mostly chop meat, cooked (turkey, chicken & beef), and a rotation usually of pumpkin, smushed beans & peas, and riced cauliflower. Within 2 days she started power way with real nice logs. I just have to make a point to put a good deal of water in the bowl with her food, she's not big on drinking so she get's most of her h2o in that way. Real fun game, make small meatballs (no seasoning, no breadcrumbs) and hide them in different places for one of their meals. If you have a yard, they'll get a quick workout in with their dinner. My dog is exactly like yours lots of tummy problems so I started the meat and veg on top with water and bone broth in meals but now he won’t even look at his water unless it’s got bone broth in 😳 loves his food now and tummy is much better 🙏

Peas usually come out whole in their poo. So I usually cook the peas and carrots before I blend them into a mush

Oddly enough, I noticed this with my dog for the first time today! They'd turned more yellow than green, but were definitely those same petits pois she'd had the night before 🤢 . So this evening I gave them a good mash. Carrot I feed raw, but finely grated (she won't touch whole carrots like some dogs like to crunch on like a bone!).

I feed my dog beef, chicken, and pork once in a while, either baked or grilled, with the fat and skin (chicken, specifically) trimmed off. My dog had constipation issues not long ago, so I started giving pureed pumpkin as a treat twice/day, and now it's all resolved. Her meal consists of apple slices and wet dog food.

Can you please do a video on AIR DRIED DOG FOOD. I just brought the brand woof flavor venison. It’s just extremely expensive. A brand I want to get is prime 100 there kangaroo flavor but unfortunately it’s only sold in Australia. Air dried seems amazing but I’m not sure. I need your advice. :)

I can speak as a human who has severe dehydration due to having all but 1 metre of intestine left after many surgeries over the years to remove areas that get blocked. Being in a state of dehydration it impacts every part of your life due to compromised brain ability.

Hi Rachel, thank you for this incredibly informative video. I wanted to ask about the animal fat oil/dripping part, does this include natural oil from fish as well? We like to air fry salmon for our dog, no oil or any coating involved. Just pure salmon. Though I have noticed from time to time that they leak out whenever we air fry them.

Thank you, Rachael, for passing along all of your knowledge. I havecan adult Shih-tzu the weighs 3.7 lbs. He is extremely picky about food. But, he loves raw meats. NowvI know about safe veges for him. How safe is raw beef and / or chicken? Do you have info I can download and print. I value your opinion, as well as your countless hours of research.

I’m not Rachel, but I have read several articles that since we don’t know where ours grocery store meat (hamburger) comes from, it’s best to cook it even for our pets. For grass fed beef, I would think that would be okay. BUT, I’m not sure We don’t even buy grocery store meat for ourselves. Who knows where it’s been, or where it came from --China? And, we all know China does not have the sanitary requirements we have here.

Hi, rachel thanks for your videos...could you please give me advice for underweight puppy. We adopted him at 8 weeks, hes a rescue, and now is 11, just wondering if there is anything else I could do to help him gain weight faster, he's feeding 3-4 times a day open farm nd I'm introducing little banana, pumpkin etc. As you recommended in videos..the vet said he needs to put on weight because he is so little and recommended Purina pro plan puppy food which I have not done, he was only 3.8 pounds when we got him...thanks so much

I am planning to switch my puppy from Orijen's Amazing Grains to fresh/air-freeze dried raw/raw option. When I looked at gently cooked ones the protein is lower on those options. And could not find a grass-fed/pasture raised/organic air-freeze dried raw option. I appreciate any help. TIA

From WebMD: Grape toxicity is linked with kidney damage. Eating the fruit can result in sudden kidney failure and even death. The toxic substance in grapes is unknown, but dogs cannot metabolize tannins, flavonoids, and monosaccharides from grapes. This could be the primary reason for grape toxicity in dogs.

My 1.5 year old Sheepadoodle, who is 87lbs, used to drink a galon of water in his puppy stage. He is on a raw diet now and stopped drinking water at all! Literally he is not drinking! Should I do something about it?

You could check with your vet if he is dehydrated ... and if so add water to his bowl of raw food like a soup, or maybe make and liquidise an actual dog-friendly soup out of green leafy veg, green beans, etc (no onion) and mix that in, instead?

@@sairhug thank you. He eats raw beef with stemmed pumpkin, sweet potato, squash, green beans, carat , salary and beef bone broth. He gets sardines twice a week. I have to speak to my vet. You are right.

@@IrinaShapiro-xl6gg It sounds like he is eating a great diet which naturally contains water within it. Still, if he is not drinking water at all I would worry a little, too, so the vet could certainly check things out and advise you. Some dogs are put off by the smell of additives in the local water supply - I am put off myself! So I used filtered water for my pets as well as me, which they seem to appreciate. How about the bowl? I've heard that plastic can harbour smells and bacteria, and some dogs even dislike the reflected light in metal bowls. To be on the safe side, I've always used ceramic bowls and dishes because of this, and also ensure they are washed & rinsed thoroughly at least once a day (rinsed to ensure there's no lingering dish soap smells). If your dog is eating raw or homecooked, s/he is getting the moisture from this diet and you will notice s/he will be drinking less 😁 If you're on a kibble dry food diet, they're constantly in a state of dehydration, which is why they drink so much water in comparison 🐾

Risky of what? If it's been bought in a supermarket and been frozen for one week, that's safe to eat thawed, if your dog doesn't have a food intolerance to chicken x
