I preordered the crybaby from hell when it first came out, I was deployed to Iraq before it came in and was there for 15 months. When I finally got to use it I was blown away! It was worth the wait, and to this day, I won’t use any other wah. I don’t even play metal, I mostly play blues. I bought it solely because I’m a dime bag fan, I didn’t expect it to be as great as it is.
I've had the Zakk Wylde wah since it was released and I would never get rid of it, absolutely amazing well balanced wah sound that works for vintage to newer metal. Just an all around work horse! I've had other wah's, DoD fx17 was really not my thing, and a few other's, the Zakk Wylde wah just seemed to fit the bill . Great vid, cheers!
I ordered a Slash wah a couple of weeks ago. Supposed to be here in January. I was going to buy the original Cry Baby for half the price. I wasn't going to spend the extra money on the Slash version but then I watched so many comparison videos and I had to fork out the cash for it. I can't wait for it to come in. After watching this video now, I'm still excited.
It’s a great wah. I liked using the distortion turned down and the volume boosted for kind of pseudo boost pedal tone. The wah by itself was awesome. Basically just a classic crybaby with some added features and a sleek casing.
There are so many more signature wah pedals out there that I can see you guys doing a part 2 to this video. I have a few suggestions: Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Zakk Wylde, Justin Chancellor, EVH.
Still have my origional BAD HORSIE and although it would be hard AF to go back to a clicker, I'd go to the other side for the Petrucci. But for now my Horsie still puts in the hours no problems yet.
I still have my old beat up GCB95 and I’ve used a Zakk and a Kirk but to my ears, the EVH is my favorite and has been on my board every weekend since 2008!! The Petrucci is pretty rad too!! Cool video!!
Cool! Great comparison of so many different ones. They all start to sound the same after a few. I just got the Eddie Van Halen striped wah. It's good too and looks killer.
I freaking love my Crybaby From Hell. Super glad to see it made the list! Dime’s squeal is awesome to replicate, or at least try and come close to replicating😆 along with sounding brutal down low and *screams* on top
@@jakespencer431 right on, I got the style in the video. I didn’t know part of Dime’s squeal came from his wah until recently. Changes quite a bit, just gotta nail down the technique, along with using the pedal on the low end for some solid chugs🤘🏻
@@opgkoyote7989 same man! I walked into my music shop to get a wah pedal sold out! Saw this green camo pedal thought it was a Kirk hammet one he then said nah this is dimes! Was in shock got it for 300 Australian in box cause I know them! Hands down best wah there is! I love the boost on it man! Didn’t even know until I got home and kicked it on, dude I reckon we got the best wah pedal brother!( and the fact it has all the volume fine tune and that the sounds you get man are crazy I do the same I chug away at low end then make it scream!)
I had my Dime wah since it was 1st released. I'm not much of a wah player but I do like to keep it in 1 spot just to change up my tone. Little movement changes so much.
Would have been nice to hear the Morley George Lynch Dragon Wah compared to the Tremonti. I think the Dragon wah has 2 modes: wah and wow (deeper) as well as a stuck/cocked wah setting.
The Crybaby From Hell allows you to adjust everything and anything soundwise plus the tension of the pedal itself. There's a knob for the sweep range and also fine tune knobs to adjust the low and top end range of the wah. The Q knob adjusts how much gain is applied to wah . There isn't a wah sound you can't get with that pedal, it does it all.
So does the non true bypass wahs really suck tone noticeably? I was thinking of the cantrell wah but i don't want my tone to be affected when I'm not using my wah.
Range and sound quality is key. As for effects you can just add it through other pedals. Just naming Hendrix doesn't make his wah any better. It's obviously the player that does. The Gary Clark one had nice clear quality tone when comparing at end of video.
I have the Tremonti wah pedal, but haven't used it much (I mostly play through amplitube, but am starting to go back to my actual hardware. Haven't really learned to use a wah yet, but will be focusing on it soon). My main influences are Tremonti and Slash. Wondering if you feel the Tremonti pedal is adequate for getting Slash's tones. I have a chance to get a slash (v2) pedal on the cheap, but it's still enough money I don't want to spend if I don't need to. Also, I see positive reviews of the joyo wah II, curious your thoughts as their reputation seems to have risen over the years and it's similar in price to what can get the slash for, but has more control options. Thanks
You need to get a Les Paul or SG with Duncan Antiquity or JB & '59 pick-ups, a good inexpensive tube Amp (Ampeg Lee Jackson VL502) and a cab loaded with 25 greenback Celestions for Slash tones. Then you'll have everyone's Rock tones.😃
This may sound weird but I'd definitely would like to see you rock out with the Fender Tread Light Wah and Volume pedal. Fender has a demo video on them but they're mostly playing soft stuff. I need a shredder to show me if those pedals are worth it.
Eric was using the Kirk Hammett signature since he's as into wah as Kirk. I heard Eric actually played the solo on Sad but True but it's not credited in the album. I'm kidding. Seems the concensus is he used a Colorsound wah in the 70s. Good luck in your search!
I actually found very minor differences, well, actually just three. A few sound thinner and darker( Cantrell, Morello and Petrucci and Hammett), some have less range( both Hendrix, Dimebag and Tremonti) , then some are louder and more vocal... Gary Clark Jr and Slash for the win. I always like the loudest wah with the most range.
The first 3 sounded nearly identical. Minor differences throughout though. Petrucci sounded most different imo. I'm surprised the Morley didn't sound more different. I own a Crybaby and a Bad Horsie and they sound quite different to me when using them but then it's not the Tremonti.
It was missing Joe Bonamassa wah pedal signature. And Joe Satriani wah pedal signature too. and Zakk Wylde wah wah pedal signature too And also Andreas Kisser wah pedal signature.
Everyone that's not British watching these videos is thinking, 'This guy loves his mints and crackers' :') Love the videos and would love a Wah but I'm not good enough yet
I honestly don’t see where any of these Wah pedals compare to the Crybaby from hell. It literally does it all with the tweak switches and has an adjustable overdrive boost. Put the light in the side instead of the back and you have the best wah pedal of all time.
I want the cry baby Kirk hammett edition but i can't afford it I'm just getting a regular crybaby I just want to replicate Kirk Hammett's sound he is one of my influences to play guitar even though I'm not that great yet my amp ain't that great it's a behringer what do you expect a marshall mg15 is a better beginner amp but my behringer amp was given to me for free I'm saving my money for effects pedals
To be honest. After watching this video. I now have no idea in Hell, which WHA pedal to get! & after reading this comment section. "EVEN LESS!!! Can you say,"Input Overland" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@levimiller9674 don’t listen to him, I have used Kirk’s wah for 12 years now on a pedalboard that has 14 pedals in it, no buzz and no EQ modifications whatsoever. Pedal is awesome, I place it right after my guitar cable. I wouldn’t buy it only for the skeleton cuz it gets dirty af
I ordered the Cry Baby off of Amazon, but after two maybe three whacks with a sledgehammer it wouldn't work and Amazon told me that I couldn't return the pedal...what a rip off...
