Classic TNP, this is going to have one million plus views. I've been resistant on getting into watches, I'm planning on getting the Casio PRG600 series to dip my toes in the water.
Check out Seiko and Citizen watches, they make a lot of lower priced, high quality watches. Heck the Citizen Eco-Drive field watch (BM8180-03E model) is like $100 or less on Amazon, just a killer value. I think nutn has a vid on it too.
Haha Nutn got me into watches too. But since I've gotten into the hobby vintage stuff is really what I go after. Omega, Longines, Universal Geneve, and the like.

@@nutnfancy Thanks for your response, nutn. While I don't carry a multitool, I feel my EDC system, which consists of a knife, flashlight, watch, proper footwear, pistol, and spare magazine, and pocket IFAK is good enough for me. So, I feel that I don't need to sit through a one hour video of ramblings over things I and probably many others already know. I did everyone like me a favor, so they wouldn't be subjected to things they may already know, but for some reason were curious enough to click on the video.
Our attention spans are longer than many will credit. A 1hr video about edc? Love it. Thanks for putting this out there and not taking short cuts to compromise on time.
I personally watch the longer ones more than the short ones. You know its going to be a good Ntnfancy video when it has more than one commercial in it.
Thank you fantastic. I like hearing that and it motivates me to do more feature length stuff. It's never gratuitous and is driven by the story of the items or philosophy. -nutnfancy
He can talk that long because he was an officer in the military. Those bastards never shut up! Lol. Big fan, Sir! Talk away. Love the videos. I don't always agree but I like them. Keep'em coming.
I am a veterinarian. In vet school I had a professor who would tell us “A man without a knife is half a man”. I have always remembered this and now I am even better prepared thanks to Nutnfancy.
I need a multytool maybe once a month. Maybe. Keep it in the truck. Always have a knife and a flashlight and a tiny swiss army knife, a firearm if in public / work. Not everyone needs a half pound of metal in they're pocket = REALITY
Yeah, I usually only have a knife. I wear cargo shorts because i get too hot most months of the year. Wallet and phone get two front pockets normally and keys on belt loop. If im not going to school ill usually have my shield either pocket carry or iwb. Can’t stand having more than one thing per pocket, although my knife clips on my wallet pocket. I currently live in the city where my truck is close and its not like im going off any deserted ravines anytime soon.
Blazin609 it's not that I'm against patreon at all, I just don't know much about it. I'll get signed up soon. I have supported in other ways by buying items from the TNP store
Absolutely my favorite channel on RU-vid. Consistent throughout the years with the preparedness theme messages. It was this channel that got me started into carrying guns for EDC, as well as the other items Nutn mentioned. T&P, always keeping it real!!!...Thank you Nutnfancy, big fan of the channel!!!
youtube is wrong to think that everyone has the attention span of a goldfish. i love long videos, and your long videos are like freaking candy! thanks for the effort!
Nah, they know what they're doing, but the viewers that fit the average (plus those that fit within multiple deviations of the average) will never know this video even exists.
I enjoyed this video, lot’s of good things mentioned... but edc mistake to big to even mention: where the hell is his medical?! Literally every gadget and gizmo for edc is mentioned and no medical? It blows my mind that typical “prepared” citizens that go out of their way to edc all this shit- mostly just to cosplay some greyman action hero they’ve envisioned in their own mind, and fail to carry simple, inexpensive, socially acceptable, lightweight, medical gear. Which is at least 10x more practical and far more likely to be used in a life/death situation.
S M Very valid point. Magyver became House overnight. Not. Trained yearly in EMS, I need one of those side-shouldered half-packs full of 1st Aid patches, turniquettes, dental damns for CPR, et cetera. Thanks for a very warranted thought that needs to be addressed. The main reasons are any large shooting where you are stuck there helping in the aftermath; but, also, if you injure and incapacitate an assailant, you saving him or her would, perhaps, save you from further litigation. Cops do that last part all the time.
I Carry a backpack around to carry a laptop and gym clothes daily around my coty. I have a simple first aid kit I bought for camping. It's come in handy really randomly. I forget it's there most of the time. I even added some extra Vicodin for the Backcountry. It's already come in handy once while on a rock climbing trip. To hike out with a broken wrist.
Of all the tools you recommend for daily carry, I have been glad I had each one on my person at some point. -Multitool: I've enjoyed the convenience of having a variety of tools available with me at all times. I've used my multitool to install batteries, cut rope, open cans, and even construct a roadsign sign for my church. All the chairs and tables in my dorm's lounge area were falling apart, and I just pulled out my multitool one day and tightened all the screws. It brought me joy to see people use the room again. Without a multitool readily available on my person, none of these things would have been easy, and some of them would have been impossible. -Flashlight: I can't count how many times someone near me has needed extra light, and I was able to shine my light on the low setting for them to find something or finish working. At night, I've used my light on the high setting to check for dangerous people or animals in my vicinity. -Pen: I've had multiple instances in which an important document needed to be signed, but there was no pen available on the counter or near the drop-box. As a matter of fact, I had to use my own pen just the other day to sign in for a job interview. -First aid kit: I have handed out plenty of bandaids and used some myself, and I am confident knowing I also have gauze and a chest seal with me (blood loss and tension pnuemothorax are two of the most common causes of preventable death, and these two items are relatively flat to fit inside a pocket-sized pouch). If you carry a gun, you should carry a first aid kit too. People get hurt much more often than they need to shoot someone! -Handgun: I've worked a door-to-door job in rough areas, and I nearly had to defend myself from both people and dogs on multiple occasions. I carry a Glock 42 OWB at 5:00, with a 2-magazine holster to even it out at 7:00. I've got 19 rounds of 380 at my disposal, and it all conceals without a trace underneath even my tightest sweaters. -Watch: I admit that I don't often wear a watch, but I do have some nice ones that were highly useful when my phone battery was flaky so I couldn't depend on my phone to tell time. -Other items: For size context, I carry my wallet, my phone, and my keys all in the same pocket. How much size do these items actually need to take up? I've seen people carrying jumbles of keys for cars they don't even use, and their wallets and smartphones are fatter than my aforementioned first aid kit. I picked out a small, thin smartphone on purpose, I keep only my car & house keys (2-3 keys total) on a keychain, and I use a "minimalist" wallet that carries my ID's and debit cards but nothing else. That's all I use each day. People who know me are often surprised that I manage to carry all of these things on my person (I'm a 150-pound 23-year-old), but the key is to know a little bit about men's fashion and how to work with your body. I buy small tools, but not the smallest tools available; they have to at least be big enough for me to use them. With my body-size-appropriate handgun concealed nicely underneath an untucked polo or button-up, I have four jeans pockets available to sort and carry everything else. Oh yeah, and I wear boots every day, too; they're nice-looking for everyday wear, but they're also rugged enough that I can thoughtlessly transition to outdoor activities like exploring a creek with them. Thanks again Nutn' for guiding guys like me in our EDC choices! As men, it is our responsibility to protect and take care of those around us, and we must equip ourselves with all the necessary tools to help us do so. To the newcomer, it may seem that carrying so many tools is either overkill or impossible to achieve, but my experience proves otherwise. Carrying these tools is not only possible, but actually fun and helpful when you do it right. I can personally attest to being glad I had each of these items when I ended up in situations in which I needed them.
Nutnfancy - Who carries 6 different knives EDC all day every day at the same time, but carries a mini multi-tool because a full size one is too big and heavy. lol
If this guy EDCs 6 different knives than I think it's safe to say he uses each of them at least a few times a week or so. I don't know the man but does he really seem like the kind of guy who would go thru the trouble of carrying 6 knives every single day JUST so that he could at some point make a YT video about how he carries 6 knives?
Dude MANY of us like and appreciate your feature length philosophy vids!! I think you're doing the world a great service and "serving your fellow man" by putting thease kind of videos out!
Honestly, I’m a 19 year old college student. I’ve been a fan and follower of the TNP project since I was 15-16 years old. I remember watching nutnfancys old EDC videos and coming to this realization of the level of preparedness that I could and should be at. I also remember finding out that Nutn lives in the state of Utah, my home state. it’s been a huge motivator for me to keep up on maintaining a realistic and functional EDC Incase I run into him in my day to day life. Love his videos and hope to be able to have a chance encounter someday. His philosophy has been a huge influencer in my life. Rock on Nutn!!🤘🏼
Those watches are pretty damned fancy. An old blood indian friend of mine in Alberta once told me he great grandfather would laugh and say "The white man needs a watch to tell him when he's hungry".
Water. An absolute necessity for me is water. I use a small red Camelbak daypack as a stand-alone edc (separate from on person items but includes them just because I don’t mind the little bit of weight it adds) Like your fannypack it’s a normal looking item where I live. Ergo blending in and not drawing attention. Another thing I’ve found it perfect for is trail riding. I live in Kansas so when I’m trail riding I need to have everything trim and compact ergo a small daypack that doubles as my water source. A first aid kit inside including Mechanix M-Pact CR5’s and a traffic vest just in case. Being a boy scout I learned why it’s a necessity to have first aid whenever wherever.. I have my own first aid system as I have medical training. Another great thing is in a pinch that Camelbak has served as a pillow. I try to remember that I am my own lifeline when I’m alone, biking and could run into someone in need that’s a reason why I carry a Mini daypack. Ramble tangent over maybe some tidbits can help others.
Does anyone remember Tom from Weapons Educations EDC video? That fool had three 1911’s & a Bowie knife. He eventually took the video down from all the hate.
Nutn, thanks for this video. You have helped me and my buddies (and, consequently, our families) more than you know. My flashlight, pocket knife, and handgun are all TNP-certified. I hope you will continue to do Philosophy of Life vids. You’re one of the only ones on YT who are worth listening to.
I survived the entire 1:02:48 and all the better for it. Thanks Nutnfancy, you're like a dad to me. I'm always craving your approval every time I click on your review videos.
The probability of inconvenience and discomfort of carrying an extra mag in 97 degree humid Alabama summer heat-100%. Probability that I will need more than 13 .40sw out of a Sig 229E? 0.0001%. Nope
This video reminded me how you turned me (and by association) my wife into people who carry whistles. What convinced me was you explanation about how weak your voice is and how quickly it would become worn out if you were to be trapped somewhere in a collapsed building (say after an earthquake (we live on the west coast of the US)), vs how far the sound of a whistle carries and how long you could continue sound the alarm with it. I started watching the project in Oct. of 2012 and since shortly after watching that video, both me and my wife have carried a Fox 40 Micro a.co/d/7qozXcG
Glad you touched on shoes, as it's rarely considered and it's probably one of the most important aspects as it effects day to day living, and can result in health issues down the road as well if you cheap out. I wear hiking-style boots. It fits my style, they don't stick out as "weird" they're comfortable, and they're versatile. North Face Hedgehogs; hold up to abuse well, good traction, look normal enough, and they're Gore-Tex so my feet stay dry even in downpours. Actually have a funny story about how I gave up flip-flops. Out boating down a small river with friends, stayed out too late, and in the darkness my friend ran the boat into a log, turned it sideways, and flooded it. In the process we lost the cooler, boat, destroyed our cell phones, and soaked our lighters to the point of uselessness. While getting back to land my flip flop broke. We got stranded in the middle of a field, in the dark, drunk and dehydrated. Ended up sleeping on the ground that quickly turned to mud once it started raining huddled in a pile of guys lol. Turns out it gets cold even on a summer night when you're soaked to the bone. Wasn't a "life threatening" situation since we weren't lost, but it was a very valuable lesson on how the night could've been less miserable with a few minor preparedness steps, and how quickly things can go from okay to awful.
I have a utility razor blade folder my mom gave me for Christmas last year and I use that thing countless times per day. A utility folder is invaluable and completely overlooked in our community. Thank you for mentioning it.
Nutnfancy, your philosophy and your rant? is like a music to my ears, and puts me at ease brother. It is something I put on when I need to calm down back to earth and its reality, and also when I have multiple guns to clean as you help me concentrate. Your philosophy and teachings have been vital to my everyday life I lead, and instrumental to my EDC fundamentals. You are truly a fearless sheep dog leader to us all brother!
littleteethkeith If you have diabeetus, you check your blood sugar and you check it often. And call Liberty Medical. They can help ya live a better life.
Thanks for this video nutnfancy, I thoroughly enjoyed it. On style, I live in an urban environment in the Midwest and I've found it advantageous to not look like someone who carries a gun or other weapons. I do sacrifice how much gear I can carry, but being able to blend in is something I value highly for my EDC. YMMV.
Well, if backpack/sling bag is not on body not sure the fanny should count in. You have said yourself you put it in your bag. I usually carry a sling bag of sorts or backpack and in there i have a EDC bag/pouch that has a bunch of stuff. But on my body (in pocket or on belt) i always carry a Victorinox outride or tinker, two (yes two) Olight i3e, one on my keys and one attatched to the knife. Also i got my rape whistle (Fox micro 40) on my keys. And a phone in an otterbox case to protect it from the dreaded screen breakage. In wintertime some chapstick usually goes in the jacket pocket as well, and sometimes i carry a watch (no defensive items here as that is illegal).
on the topic of "i have it in my bag... in the truck"; first, i totally agree with you that it doesn't really count. i carry a gear-check-worthy system on my body 99% of the time. however, i "carry" a backpack (by which i mean i leave it in the truck) pretty much only because of how often i switch vehicles. on any given day i might be in any of 4 different work vehicles or my personal vehicle, and i can transfer a backpack easily. i treat it as the stuff most people would be happy with leaving in their car, except "my" car might be halfway across town. love the long format "classic" tnp video! keep them coming!
I stopped wearing a watch a while back when someone attempted to mug me. The first thing a thief will see and go for is your watch since it looks like you might have other things to rob from you. I also don't wear any jewelry. Long story short he didn't get my watch and the police hauled him off after I laid him out on the sidewalk who happened to be nearby. I got lucky and that's when I started adopting they gray man concept of not standing out from a crowd whenever possible.
Sorry style is more important than having all that stuff I’ve never needed in the past. I don’t want to look like a dork with a fanny pack or a Tactard with 5.11 pants. And I don’t like having tons of shit in my pockets. I carry a pocket knife, keys, wallet & M&P Shield no spare mag. But all the other stuff you mentioned is in my car. I know I know, but I think you are too quick to discount the vehicle stash. Most people are not too incredibly far from there car to retrieve the gear they might need. IMHO.
Multitool: I have a letherman wave. Carried it on a daily basis for 2-3 years. I have to say i used it outside of the military (and even inside) next to never. The pliers/wirecutter i used like 2-3 times and everytime but once i knew before i need a tool for this exact job and could easily just have brought one with me. On the downside they are forbidden to carry by law now (one handed operationable blade) and it teared my hand and trouserpockets up a few times because the "hook" on the file opened the tool a bit. A small swiss army (like the spartan but without the corkscrew) knife is usually all i need. If i do other things outside and i think of it i use a bigger one with a saw (huntsman model). I put a phonton light on them though. Knife: I carry a cold steel spike (have a few, thanks for the review) either loose in a pocket (pretty concealed) or with velcro on the sheath (totally concealed. I also carry sporadically a knife simmilar to the "linder Verlängerungsmesser" (dunno the english name for this kind of knife) because i like it. To my knowledge today with them i`m inside the limits what the laws allow. They are for cutting melons and other jucy stuff. Defense: mouthpiece (can even deescalate situations, just put it in and smile), kubotan, sabre red. A thing i wonder about is why the people who carry guns don`t have trauma stuff. Have at least a TQ. Take care that it works on children too. Whistle: If you want to save space use the head of a acorn Depending on what i wear i have a leather money belt with stuff to open locks on. Cash & button compass are always on and comes to use frequently. What`s your take on wallet holsters? Learned about them recently and there are some which look quite realistic (they even have a fake zipper). Greedings from germany.
When I worked construction, I used it everyday. In a full-time student now, and I STILL use at least one of the features every 1½ days. There's always something I need to use it for.
Out of curiosity: What do you use it for? I`d guess people over the pond probably think different. The thing i use by far the most is the tin opener because i was too lazy to get a real one.
Been watching for a few years now learning, and have to say, this is probably my favorite vid to date. I've been a gun guy (not too seriously until 2 or 3 yrs ago plus this rescent toilet paper apocalypse and now that I'm off the sauce) and always say I have a lot more to learn. I refrain from saying "I know" because that shuts me off from wanting to learn more. At 53 now, I have a long way to go to be better prepared. I'll get there gradually. Just keep the TNP train going on your end! Have to move some things around but planning on supporting thru Patreon on my end...somehow. Just keep making it real bro! My pop was Air Force in the Korean War and would have loved to watch the topics you vid about.
Timex and Casio for that kinda work is a huge thumbs up! I deliver and sell imported wines but I’m always in a rush so I myself keep stainless steel banded silver bezel Casio as a backup in my bag. Looks great in business casual but it’s insanely inexpensive!
I watch alot of your videos, the most beneficial thing TNP has done for me.... Olight...Edc Flashlight. LOVE IT. Everyone in my family got one for Christmas. 👍
I have the Olight Baton 1 and a larger O-light. I have found that as soon as I carried the more powerful one that was bigger, I got rid of it as EDC. Too awkward and difficult to carry. The Baton one with lanyard? Carry it all the time and I put rechargeable in it and carry that spare batt in glove box. Have the small charger also which plugs into phone charger or computer USB. Cool.
I am a proud TNPer, No fake gear checks around here dude. Realest channel on RU-vid, much appreciation for your dedication to the videos nutnfancy, roger out
Why the hell am I not getting notifications from the b channel ? I gotta ask why have you not done any philosophy vids, like back in the day ? Thanks for taking the time to make these vids Brother they are much appreciated!!!
He isn't put any b channel videos out lately. If your phone put the RU-vid app to sleep, for power savings reasons, you won't get notifications. You need to have RU-vid running in the background. There are also other settings on your phone that affect you getting notifications.
@@nutnfancy brother thank you for the sometimes thankless work you put in as a content creator / educator. Been watching since 09. I would love to be a patreon but financially things are tough at the moment. If there ever was a more deserving candidate I have not seen one, I will do my part when I am able, to help keep the channel going. Oh and for some reason the bell was unclicked not sure how that happened. Thanks again !!!
I got one for this one on the A channel. But I do agree the philosophy videos are the best. They help me stay grounded and Ive many times referred new interested people to his core philosophy videos like the sheepdog concept, obligation to carry, and his wrol videos like the one on communities and why not to bug out, old ones like water storage even. Though now the Obamapocalipse is over those around me are no longer interested in those types of wrol stuff.
Revisiting nutnfancy. Been astray for 8 years I think, and suddenly remembered nutn because I am thinking of getting a handgun. :) What has happened in the gun market? I started looking at gun reviews, and remembered you, nutnfancy! Man it is a joy seeing you still at it after all these years! I have been watching some of your more recent work during the past days, but mostly about those guns you reviewed back then, Glock 19, Walther PPQ, others. And then this EDC video was suggested by the all mighty RU-vid algoritm! Wow, memories flooding back into presence. I first saw your videos I think around 2010-2011, and a couple of them was as about EDC. Present day EDC check? After 13 years I am still rocking that 4Sevens CR2 and Leather man CS4 in my front left pocket I purchased 13 years ago (I am left handed). A bit worn now showing more aluminum, but still flawless performance! I don't think of them when they are I my pocket, but I sure feel naked those few days they are not! 😨 I honestly think they have not been out of my pocket for more than 14 days of 13 years. It happens when I go to events where pocket knives are frowned upon and I forget to put them back in pocket, but I sure feel naked without them after an hour! So nutn you made an impact on my life, and it was definitely for the better!😊 My CS4 fixing the screws on my glasses, other peoples glasses, open packages, fixing the handle on the refrigerator handle at work, door hinges (!), cutting wire, picking up hot stuff with the pliars, and so much more. I know you don't drink wine, but I do, so popping corks - Yes, that too! 😊 What I really want to say is Thank you! You are fun, but more important is that you are a good force, wanting to do good things. My hat off to you for still keeping at it! 👍 Ps. Oh yes, I also rock the all black Casio PRG-600Y on my arm since around 2016 or there abouts when you did that review. 🙂 Also flawless! Pps. I sharp my CS4 by turning a ceramic mug upside down and stroke the bare ceramic. It works, it not the best system LOL, but it is better than nothing. It cuts paper with ease.
....Could you PLEASE consider doing a thorough video on the rules, and "Philosophy of Use" behind "Concealed Carry", and "Open Carry"?!.... (...covering basic firearms, knives/swords, and other "weapons"?!....)
Man the flashlight thing... Can't understand that. I live in Australia and work in an office. I can't legally carry a knife or gun anywhere in my country, so I don't even really partake in the whole EDC thing. But even I rock a dedicated flashlight, which has been scaled up from a micro to AAA to now an S1R. I too keep eyeing my S20 and thinking "Can I fit that on my keys...." :) I will never EDC a torch in the sense of carrying it separate/dedicated, but how can you not see the use of a good dedicated light on your keychain!
@@dangolboomhauer3642 we can technically carry a knife but it cannot be for protection. It's up to the cop who finds it whether or not to say it's for protection or not. It's best to just not carry one.
Dude you are the absolute greatest! The only reason I would pass your gear check 90% of the time is because of your logic and philosophy. Thanks for keepin it real dude!
Been a TNPR since 2007 but I think your view on the 380 cartridge is a mistake. I’ve read the majority of defensive situations happen in three seconds at three yards with three rounds. Don’t tell me if someone shoots you in the chest three times with a 380 you wouldn’t be on the ground. I myself carry a 9 but don’t underestimate the ability of the 380 cartridge
David Benkendorf then I guess it’s a good thing I can A aim for the head and B carry 7 rounds and an extra mag. While your statement is true the 380 cartridge is very capable despite popular belief. Is it the most ideal certainly not but it can get the job done effectively.
@@Beuwen_The_Dragon I think it was Clint Smith who said " I don't care if you're wearing fucking body armor. If you shoot someone enough times in enough places they WILL go down." 😅
Nope... No no no. It's about being prepared, but also being comfortable. You carry to much stuff that you don't need. Apple watch makes no sense, because you need your phone for it to work. PLUS you already have a good watch on your other arm. If you need to text, USE YOUR PHONE! It's a pain to text on that little screen. If you need to cut cardboard, use your knife... If you have such a great edge all the time, use your knife! You ARE going over the top for EDC, as you said, be realistic. It's not good to waste space, nor money... I carry a multi tool, a pocket knife,. A flash light, a pen, my wallet and my phone. Plenty to do EVERYTHING! No need for 2 watches, and man pack to carry pens. Nope... I think you need to think this over again.
Me too on EDC carry; as nutn says: Firearms illegal in Ca. Except I'm retired law enforcement, so what's my excuse? I don't have anything small or light enough. 9mm. Yes; 40 Cal.? Yes. Colt Python? Yes......etc.
My first multi tool, was a xmas gift over 25 years ago. I wore that 1 out a couple of decades ago. Over the years, I have upgraded to several different types. I to, use them frequently. The multi, is the first thing I put on my belt, next to my pro, tac, 2L light. Unfortunately I am not allowed to even bring my carry gun, onto my work property. Not even in my vehicle. My company, is so nyeve, they think that there property is secure because everyone flashes a badge while driving past the security guard. Great video. Thanks!
I like the honestly that you admit that watches have a 2nd cool element for you. Going backpacking this week for the first time. Your channel was a big factor in pushing me to do so. Thanks for all you do.
I am blown away about the idea of wearing two watches at the same time, it is never occurred to me, and I wonder if people at work will look at me and say oh my god this guy must be insane... Love the idea, but don’t want to be branded insane.
Hey I like your point of view and philosophy. I have been watching your videos for YEARS. I have made several knife decisions based on your reviews. I carry what works for me and what makes me happy
I bet nutnfancy didn't chat up Mrs fancy for the first time with a fanny pack or wear it on their first date. Also, I think it's acceptable to keep a flashlight in the car at high noon. :) if you are seven hours from your car you have bigger problems than a lack of a light.
Thank you Nutnfancy. After 12 years you are still rocking the preparedness world. So many things that people overlook or take for granted. Thanks for reminding the world about pens, whistles, and footwear.
Seriously love these videos. Always bring me back to a mindset I need to be in. I always carry my typical.edc but somewhere along the way I get LAZY. Thank you for putting the time in to get this message out. No problem with a re-up. Always be ready. Got my sheep dog patch on my every day bag. Tnp'r for 6 years now. Hopefully I'll get a chance to meet you some day! Thanks nutn for all that you do!
Gun Free Zone almost makes a situation worse ... Elsewhere: Hey everyone, the missus and I have been subscribed for a while and thought you might appreciate what happened involving us yesterday. It involves gun free zones, daily carry, and the bystander effect --- The missus is debating joining the Army (I already played that game and got out in 2010) so we were going to the local recruiting office to get some info. Problem is, that office is at the mall ... Which is a gun free zone. I debated leaving my sidearm at home. I'm not a fan of leaving it in the car but I went ahead and brought it then locked it in the car while we were inside. A few hours later we get home, exit the vehicle, and are chatting about it all in the driveway. Two minutes into chatting we hear a commotion down the road. We head to the sidewalk and observe a woman, 3 doors down, on the edge of the road, who appears to be playing with a large dog. There are two people standing just 4 or 5 meters away and they aren't reacting ... But something still seemed off. We start heading that way. Just a few steps in the woman cries out. The dog (large breed) is attacking her and she is holding something trying to keep it away from the dog. The bystanders aren't doing shit. We sprint to close the gap. Halfway there the dog hears us running up on him and disengages the attack. The bleeding woman is wide-eyed/frozen and in shock enough not to flee from the dog. I call to her and motion for her to come to me. I get to her first, quickly determine her injuries are non-lifethreatening, hand her off to my wife who is catching up, and have my wife call the police. I tell the bystanders to get inside and then pursue the dog who is pacing the sidewalk nearby. Over the next 15 minutes I track the dog. Keeping 10m distance but following him as he paces a 30m stretch of the road. Hand on sidearm ready to react. Keeping myself between the dog and the vic. Several times people popped out of their doors to see what was happening, the dog would react to them instantly (still worked up) and I'd tell them to get inside. Twice, the dog keyed in on me and approached aggressively but at a walk. Both times I was able to change his mind with my dominant attitude and a yell. Eventually, local PD/EMTs/Animal-control showed up and took over the situation. The woman lost a chunk from her hand and the small dog she had been walking (which is what she was cradling earlier) was beat up but not terribly so. There's more details of course but this is already long and sums up my involvement. --- I almost didn't carry yesterday because I knew we were going to a gun free zone. If I hadn't, I may have been able to stop the initial attack but I wouldn't have been able to pursue the dog and guard the rest of the community. Especially the look-e-loos who did fuck-all besides stand there or come outside so they could be in danger too.
Well done Ghost. I think the important take-away is being willing to act when action is required. Not only did you save the day for that woman, but who knows who else could've been hurt.
lacenter645 They don't get our thinking either to be fair. They live in a world where there's always someone there to fix their problems. Either a dad, husband, friend, cop, or a local business that performs the service they need. It usually takes an incident to open most people's eyes concerning preparedness of any degree. Let a storm disrupt their access to food or gasoline, be stuck on the road due to inability to change a tire, or heaven forbid be the victim of random violence then they start to look at things differently.
I am so tired of lookee-loos that just want to get a video of someone getting hurt or killed. Either do something or get out of the way. Been there myself with stray pits and working for a gun-free company and only having my knife. Thank God I kept my wits about me and didnt panic, that's the only thing that got me through. I'm glad you were there to help the lady. God bless!
Outstanding. Reminds me of your older videos. Love it. Wish I'd get gear-checked by you. I get a lot of flak for all the stuff I carry. Keep these types of vids coming.
Was in a gun store here in Texas six months ago and a guy strolled in geared up for urban warfare. No armor, helmet or rifle but that was about it. Open carrying and all. The dude had the audacity to politely ask for a pen to jot something down. As much as I wanted to call him out, I bit my tongue and went on with my day. After all he is a brother to us 2A guys and gals. Also, us Texans have had a hotter than usual summer so dudes are printing badly through their t-shirts. At least it is on them, though. Nice vid, Nutn
I'm in Texas, I carry owb under my shirt and ever since open carry passed here, I dont give a rats butt if I print. I dont open carry but, if you look close enough, you can tell that I'm carrying. Carry how you want and dont worry about how others carry. Theres no point in griping about how others carry, I'm just glad that they carry. I will say that when I see someone open carrying in a serpa or a nylon uncle Mike's holster, I want to slap them, but I keep my opinions to myself and worry about my business.
Chris Duncan I think you're pretty much agreeing with me. However, if you're going to conceal carry then don't half-ass it. Just open carry or how you do it. I'm glad you agree that we need as many people carrying today as possible.
Nutnfancy, you’re Awesome! Love how you just keep it real. You’re humor and sarcasm is on point. And your ability to keep me watching a fricken EDC video for an hour plus. WOWZER! TNP ROCKS!
I agree with pretty much everything but wearing a watch. Will not do it. Period. Same way with jewelry, it's a no no. For me anyway. Maybe it's OCD but I can't have that shit hanging off of me. Can't do it.
It depends largely on the watch you choose. I'm with you all the way on 'bulky' watches, I can't stand anything over 10mm thickness or 40mm case diameter. Pretty much every watch he shows is 'huge' in my book - I'd never wear anything he does, and I tailor my watches accordingly. Check out some cheap, simple quartz watches, I like Timex for their awesome Indiglo feature. You could pick up a simple Timex for like ~$40, slap on a slim NATO band and you barely notice it's there. Worth a try, you might find that it's not as annoying as you think.
These people that hate long videos are a great example of that study released a couple years ago about Americans having the attention span of a goldfish.💡 (Look it up)
Yeah it's not like it's babble, it's all useful information. Maybe those of us who have been with TNP forever know a lot of this, but let's remember we were new once too.
Always nice to see a personal facet of Nutnfancy once in a while and learn from his tried n true experience. (w the added benefit of 1st cool.) Really enjoyed the recent (05/11/19) FAL GTV, finally!
don't agree with most points but still love to watch. i laugh a dipshits that destroy whatever they are working on with a multitool because they refuse to let me take a 1 minute walk to the truck for the proper tool.
Outstanding EDC checklist, Nutn. I have one suggestion about an everyday watch. Make it a mechanical watch, something like a Seiko 5 (~$60). One likely scenario, if SHTF, is an EMP attack. Quartz watches will fry. The phones and wrist computers will fry. If you know how you can even do rough navigation with a mechanical watch.
Pretty much the only real mistakes you mentioned in this video is about dull blades and no signalling device (which I admit, I was partially guilty of it myself - I had a mirror, but right now I'm digging my old whistle out of a drawer to put in my backpack). What you say about adopting what is popular on the internet and not what works for them... it's funny that you mention it in a video where you assume that everybody who you gearcheck has to have what you think works, and not what works for them... But that is a true statement, I will admit, but it may or may not be a mistake - it might be just a phase to check out if it works and/or is it needed, for example I used to carry a small torch in my pocket, but it was way more of a nuisance than anything practical. So I had it on me for half a year, to check - will it work. It didn't, even though everybody said to have one. Day to day a smartphone light is better, and for other tasks I have a head torch in my backpack. On body vs bag/backpack... Well, that's something that I'd disagree with in some cases. On my normal day to day life, I carry most of my stuff in my backpack, since I'm pretty much never more than 5m away from it and I have it on me pretty much every time when I'm out, be it college, work, bonfire or a party with friends. In case I know that I must leave my backpack home I switch to a fanny pack, but it's rare. So yeah, that "only on body stuff counts" shit is not universal, unless you would consider what I described as still on person, as I don't know how you precisely define it. If you leave it somewhere out of reach for a longer time - yeah, it's not ideal (unless it's your third/second layer i.e. you still have vital stuff on you, at which point it doesn't really matter if you're near your bag). Not carrying a watch - not a mistake, personal preference. I don't like wearing watches, so I don't wear them. A phone is enough (also - you've shown that you have no idea when talking about that, if you think that a phone's clock depends on the network to work). Oh, and about pocket watches - you know, that back in the day those were the manly stuff and wrist watches were considered a female accessory? Times have changed, but you mocking smartphones by comparing them to 1800's pocket watch and then saying that the wrist watch is "the gentleman thing"... No, dude, just no. I can't comment much about gun stuff - living in Poland I don't really have to worry about that, since the likelihood of encountering a firearm are so minuscule - there are only 1.3 guns per 100 people, you are 30 times more likely to be murdered in the US than in Poland (murder with gun - 84 times more than Poland! That's 111 vs 9,369!), there are 54 times more rapes than Poland, there are twice as many burglaries and robberies than in Poland, 10 times more assaults, 5 times more car thefts - so yeah, Poland is a lot safer, especially when it comes to guns and combining that with a shitty process of acquiring a license it's both not necessary and very difficult to carry (aside from all mental and physical stuff - it's up to a chief of police from your local voivodeship, so if he decides that he won't give them to anybody in his region, then he doesn't have to, even if you've paid everything and passed everything with flying colours).
@@brucetucker4847 well, it's not that simple: does that mean that it only counts if your bag is on you, or does arm's reach count too? Does it count if it's three steps away? Four steps? Maybe two is to much? To me it should always count if it's in the same room and 4-5 steps/5 seconds away (mainly because that's how I treat my backpack xD)
It was hardly uncontested, and part of the reason was that the Soviet Union was invading from the other direction. Learn a little history before spouting off on the Internet.
"basically taken in a few days"? In over a month and only after being attacked on two fronts by two of the worlds most powerful superpowers at that time and with literally no help from it's allies. Now compare that to France, which in a similar time span fell even with the help from other nations (mainly Britain, who retreated to the isles near the fall of France) and against only Germany (and Italy in the last few days, but it wasn't very significant). Yeah, "few days" indeed... And why aren't people armed now? Mainly because no one feels the need to be armed, and amongst those who do have guns it's mostly hunting and target-shooting, not self/home defence. But I guess that'll most likely be my last response to you, I won't feed the troll too much.
Nutnfancy doing a feature length video on edc...those who are surprised haven't been around that long. Feature length was the norm on philosophy vids and heavy topics like EDC. I'm stoked about the feature length!
