Hello Issy, as usual smashing lesson! I'm Italian but I adore learning new phrasal verbs and collocations as well. Studying English is, for want of a better words, tough albeit motivating.

I haven't written narratives for a long time, but now that I' m sitting for the c1 exam I need to brush up on this skill.
@EnglishwithIssy

FANTASTIC example, just be careful with 'sitting', it doesn't carry any prepositions, so you could say 'I'm sitting the C1 exam' OR 'I'm preparing for the C1 exam' (Also, I have lots of excellent free resources for C1 Advanced students, you can get yours too at www.englishwithissy.com :)

Great answer! Be careful with 'if only' though, it should be 'If only I had brushed up', in the past perfect, the rest is great!
