I haven't written narratives for a long time, but now that I' m sitting for the c1 exam I need to brush up on this skill.

FANTASTIC example, just be careful with 'sitting', it doesn't carry any prepositions, so you could say 'I'm sitting the C1 exam' OR 'I'm preparing for the C1 exam' (Also, I have lots of excellent free resources for C1 Advanced students, you can get yours too at www.englishwithissy.com :)

Great answer! Be careful with 'if only' though, it should be 'If only I had brushed up', in the past perfect, the rest is great!

brush up on بتحسين or تتقن = Bring About = يُسبَّب / يُؤدى = What brought about the change in his attitude? cut back/dawn تقلل او التقليص = We have had to cut back on training this year Set aside توفير = She tries to set aside some money every month. bring up ظهر = Click with the right mouse button to bring up a new menu put off يُؤَجِّل شَيئاً ما = I’ll put off doing the washing until tomorrow. go over = مراجعة Go over your work before you hand it in run out of = ينفذ منك We ran out of fuel.
