Disappointed that Topher Grace was left out of this list. Even if he kept a steady stream of roles since leaving "That 70s Show", he hardly got any roles that were significantly popular enough to bring him back into the fame he had before leaving the show.

You forgot a couple of old timers who met the same face. Pernell Roberts, who played Adam Cartwright on Bonanza, walked away because it was interfering with his film career (his words). Said film career never materialized. Ironically he rebounded a decade later with another TV show called Trapper John, M.D. Later in life he stated publicly leaving Bonanza was the biggest professional mistake of his life. Jean Hagen played Danny Thomas' wife on Make Room For Daddy. She left because she was being 'difficult'. End of her career.

Yeah. If she had given the show a little bit longer, she probably would have stuck around. And she realized that when she read the script for her final episode, Symbiosis (they filmed several season 1 episodes out of order), but it was too late. It was particularly Tasha's talk with Wesley about drugs in particular that had been the kind of thing she had been looking for with her character.

Half the cast of The Walking Dead could be on here. They've had some success stories, as actors like Steven Yeun, Danai Gurira, Jon Bernthal, Michael Rooker, and Sonequa Martin-Green have had their share of success after they left the show. Then you have actors like Laurie Holden, Chandler Riggs, Sarah Wayne Callies, David Morrissey, and even arguably Andrew Lincoln himself, who haven't had much success since the show.

There are different definitions of success. Just because many of these actors/actresses did not score another high profile role like the one that launched them into the public eye, DOES NOT MEAN their careers tanked. As WatchMojo acknowledged throughout this video, many of these people still have active careers and are still in the business as of today. The definition of a career tanking is when the roles dry up and no one is returning your calls or hiring you anymore. That doesn't apply to many of the people on this list. It's more accurate to say that they have not had another career high like they did when they stepped away from these roles but labelling them as unsuccessful is a stretch.......

Actors and actress that quit the show before it even finished can had trouble getting into a new series. Show creators want the actors and actress to stay as long as possible until the series ended. Hearing stories like this will hurt actors and actress being cast on a new show. Some had good excuses for leaving the show like Charisma Carpenter because of Joss. Others wants to moved to do other things like appear in movies. Or they were completely jerks to work with and they don't want to hired them for their on going series.

That urban legend has been repeatedly debunked. The spread was from 1979 and playboy reprinted it shortly after she quit TNG. The fact that she personally quit TNG is sorta hard to deny she repeatedly said so herself.

I admire your loyalty, and I've been a CS fan since I was a teenager, but even I am not blind to the fact that Charlie will likely be remembered not for his talent but for being the nutty tiger blood guy who loved hookers and contracted HIV. But.......I read somewhere that he is teaming up with Lorre again for another series, so he may yet pull out of the dive.

I never understood why Denise Crosby left TNG. She was given the opportunity to play a great character for 7 years, and just flushed it away! I could understand if it was a toxic environment, but I've watched the cast in so many interviews and they had a marvellous time. A lot of characters don't get enough screen time in the first season (as with most shows). Tasha would have continued to develop more and more over the years. Such a shame. I expected that Farrah Fawcett would be number one. It's hard for younger people to know just how incredibly famous she became with Charlie's Angels (and her #1 selling poster) back in the 70s. She was cast in some high-profile films afterwards, but all of them bombed hard. I also thought for sure that David Caruso would be on the list. NYPD Blues made him a household name, then he quit to become a movie star. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for him! (Also, Charisma Carpenter didn't leave Angel. She was fired. Damn, 'Your Welcome' was a tearjerker of an episode.)

Eventhough Tasha died in TNG, Denise showed up in later episodes as Tasha from an alternate universe in the episode Yesterday's Enterprise, Tasha's daughter Sela and as Tasha again in the 2 part final episode All Good Things

Charisma Carpenter may have been blacklisted because a certain director/producer was not happy with her not getting with program...as in enjoying being treated like trash. Barton suffered extreme psychotic breaks more than likely from childhood trauma via Hollyweird and trying to fix it via self medication.

I've never gotten the Caruso thing. I've never found him even slightly interesting, but the fact that he just keeps repeating the get a great job, then being a jerk until they fire him then disappearing for a few years until he pops back up in yet another plum role.

Charisma Carpenter shouldn't be on this list because the decision to leave wasn't hers. Yes, Joss Whedon was extremely upset that he had to re-write the second half of Angel season 4 due to Charisma's pregnancy. But putting how he allegedly treated his actors aside, especially Charisma herself, Whedon simply dropped Charisma from the show going into season 5 once he had the opportunity to score points with the network by bringing the character of Spike over from now finished parent show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He simply used the money budgeted to pay Carpenter to sign James Marsters. James didn't find out how Wedon paid his contract until years later and Charisma didn't know she wasn't coming back for season 5 until her castmates started receiving scripts and she didn't. Her only choice was to negotiate a final one episode appearance to wrap up her character in a positive way. Both James and Charisma have confirmed this part of a much bigger story while sharing the stage at numerous ComicCons and fan festivals across the globe. Many of these panels are available on RU-vid.
