I was kinda hoping there would have been a mention of the stretched limousine version from the second movie.

This one was all about the first movie's Pacer only, but may get to that wild Limo at some point too, if I'm able to find anything on it that is 😉

I'm glad Rick bought it and restored it. To hear about these icons just rotting away is heartbreaking. The people that take on the job of restoring, preserving, care taking of these timeless treasures are heros. There's no doubt about it. Because anyone that has grown up with these movie stars will always have nostalgia about them. They feel like a friend you have seen or heard from in a long time. To know they've been saved & taken care of brings a sense of happiness to us all.

The mag wheels on the back and stock rims/wheel covers on the front reminded me of the very real trend amongst high school car owners on the late 70s-early 80s. Want mags but have to work for them? Buy two for the rear when you can afford them, then continue tomp work, save, until you can afford them for the front. Saw a lot of cars rolling around that never quite got new aftermarket wheels installed on the front. Instead, air shocks were usually a required purchase due to the new wheel/tire combo being a lot wider than stock.

I've heard that one of the Mirthmobiles used in Wayne's World 2 was repurposed as the Burger Mobile in the 1997 Nickelodeon film, Good Burger. After filming was complete on Good Burger, the car was sold to a private owner in Florida, who left the car outside exposed to the elements for over 20 years. Until 2021 when it was bought by a dedicated fan from St.Louis, who restored it back to it's Burger glory. It's now on display at the Hi-Pointe Drive-In.

Say what you want but those Pacers were tough! I can remember when they were common enough on the road to see every day. How many other movies have you heard of that had ONE single hero car? That's the same 258 six cylinder that was in Jeeps right up into the 2000s, not a powerhouse but tough as nails and reliable. Oh yeah and that's not mismatched aftermarket chrome wheels, those are the stock hubcaps on the front.

I"m not sure where you got the information that AMC shut down in 1979. Before being purchased by Chrysler, largely for their Jeep subsidiary, AMC continued making cars until 1988, before being renamed Jeep/Eagle following the purchase by Chrysler. Renault was a part-owner through the early to mid 1980s, but they definitely still existed, producing mostly Hornet and Gremlin-derived models such as the Concord, the Eagle, and the Spirit.
