You left out the most basic trap: no grenade, and beating people to death while they're tripping forward. Surprisingly effective as a fresh spawn, that half second or so of trip animation gives you a window to land a deadly combo with a can of peaches.
0:30 the road flare could be useful at night if you're gonna be in or around a town for a while you could put one in a high traffic building then you'd be able to see if anyone's been by pretty easily.
Here’s an idea, but it costs more: The Blind Man-Set up a tripwire with a smoke or flashbang grenade attached. Then, set up additional tripwire traps, landmines, bear traps, pick your poison. Once a player triggers it, in the case they don’t pull back, they will run around blindly out of panic, running into your traps, and causing them to die from their blindly placed movements. To add on, smokes will highlight that they are possibly blinded when triggered.
I usually watch my videos in 2x speed because people drag on things or talk too slow but your channel is one of the few I watch on 1x speed because you're so efficient!

I set a trippy with a smoke grenade just to freak someone out. I went to check it next day and it was gone so i bound through the next door and trip boom lol. I guess some people can't take a joke.
I placed a mine in a shed some one was suspected of logging out in. Then placed a trip wire with cooked grenade right outside the shed. Came back to 3 bodies!! Lol spoke to em eventually and one spawned in knocked out. His buddies logged in near by to go see what happened. They tripped the trap and killed all 3
Sorry not tryna call bs but if you actively play dayz you would know its no possible to log in knocked out when you get knocked out if you dc or log out or game crashes whatever you die can't go unconscious and log your character will die he prolly was there and just got knocked out but no possible way to log or spawn in knocked out

@@Pap1riki at the time u were able to cook a nade but after the last update u can't re pin a grenade after its left ur hand. So u can only attach raw nades to trip wires lol. Haven't tried attaching an unpinned nade yet. My theory is it explodes 4 second after you attach it lol
i like placing them outside of my base. specifically in buildings with vantage points/ in bushes nearby. really useful in base defense too. doesnt take long to pop a tripwire down in ur base when enemies are raiding and catch them offguard with traps where they shouldnt be
Im making alts and stock piling traps and supplies 😂 Till they fix the swim glitch, you cant build on 1 level buildings without a watchtower layer to avoid line of sight to the swimmers, who will point out your location to be wall banged
The only thing that is wrong about grenade cooking in Dayz is that you can re-pin the grenade. Grenades can be cooked in real life but its not recommended by any major military as far as I know. That being said, as a potential fix while still allowing some flexibility in traps, why not make the two grenades have different timers sort of how it is done in Tarkov with one having a second or two shorter timer.
I'm now walking and taking my time to stealth around military zones. So far I've been lucky enough to not walk into any yet, but I've certainly racked up few kills using the L-Barracks.
I’m posting this during the 1.19 update, as you pass through the room on the right of the bunker you enter the main area, to stop people jumping me and my friends while we were in there looting we placed the most devious trap ever, place a land mine on the floor in the doorway of the main area then on the right there is a small pile of gravel place a gas grenade; the land mine will ko the player and destroy the gas grenade which will either kill or poison the player and any friends they have and also stopping anyone else from entering for ~5 mins

The more I watch these videos, along with the lack of thought put into some of your silly comments, it's becoming obviously clear that people don't ACTUALLY play games anymore, the just play with the buttons on the controller and think all the lights on the TV are pretty. No wonder forknife is so famous. I've been playing DayZ for awhile, I've had zero issues with maintaining my health in game, I've never been sick, or have I experienced any of these issues that are easily avoided if you actually used you brain when you played. This goes for any game. I feel like one of the few left that play and fully appreciate what a game has to offer. People are so lazy now a days.
Upon seeing the tripwire bear trap combo in the thumbnail my first thought was it'd be too easily seen, you'd be better off putting the bear trap further in, even around a corner(in which case place a smoke/flash on the trip so you don't waste a frag) as most people do run forward, they'd run around the corner and get leg broken, and you'd have a smoke to let you know you got someone and where, it could even draw in zombies to press any friends the victim has, but as with everything in DayZ every situation is different
btw, some types of grenades do have adjustable fuses. in real life if you were give a crate full of grenades, the pineapple classic US Mk II ones for example, you'd find all the fuse/detonators missing, and they'd be provided seperately for safety. the soldier would be responsbile for screwing them in. if I did dayz, I'd make that a feature, imagine how disappointed/thrilled you would be at finding a box with 10 grenades in it, but no fuses.
I've been landmined twice due to sneaky bastards placing them on the Christmas trees. I dont know who thought it would be smart to put those in the loot table for presents lmao
I would really love if they added as a feature that your player going prone would reduce like maybe 20% of explosive damage after being just far enough away say if there wasn't any walls between you or anything. I mean it would just be a neat little advantage and honestly fairly realistic
I'm going to assume and give you the respect that you might have experience in this. But like I said when it comes down to a certain distance and maybe while wearing armor even just to juice up my argument it reduces a little bit. Just a small percentage, enough to give you that last hope. I mean like the movies it's just a game and with all the bugs and everything else why not add a simple feature like that I mean you can't just jump through any window in the game which would be hyper realistic. I just feel like maybe we can come to a compromise on this little debate.
I wander if they would implement wired gun traps like if you open a door that is booby trapped with a shotgun it would fire the moment it opens killing the player . Doubt it but I thought it would be cool
My question is "Why though?". You don't get much from trapping someone when you don't even see them or get to loot them. Only purpose is protecting your base or griefing.
It does prepare us what to expect I suppose as well. Most people die with like 2-4 grenades if they're geared, never using them. Military bases just got much more dangerous.

How long do land minds, bear-traps tripwire traps persist for? I’m just getting back into DayZ since 2020, I have now idea where item persist rates are at nowadays.
No one is talking about despawn timer? Do they stay up indefinitely or it depends on the player's proximity? Same question with anti-personnel land mines? Do they despawn after 30 minutes?
Placed Land mines can stick around for more than a day I think closer to 3days. Also asked about how long tripwires will stay on a server outside a base flag. And inside a base flag.
I feel that it’s odd that you say that cooking a grenade for shorter fuse time is basically an exploit, but shooting a nade or cooking it literally in a campfire is your favourite trap. If you ask me that method is just as exploitative!
Last time I played DayZ was on Arma 2 in like 2011 lol, getting into Standalone now. Would it be a bad idea for me to trap my own base entrances?. As like an offline raid defensive mechanic?. I already place multiple doors/gates/walls as a additional layer of protection from explosives. So I feel like having traps on the ground behind them as well would be a good idea. Worst case scenario I forget about them and die to it, and just come back to the base. Not like it would be opened at that point. Plus it would be a good final " F You " to whoever does spend all the C4 to blow down the multiple walls.
You missed one trap, just a tripwire no grenade and you sit nearby hidden and pop them with a sniper/shotgun in the stun animation. Fish in a barrel, or just put a bunch of food/decent items in a building where you can easily snipe thru the window, could work anywhere. Good way to save your rare .308
I survived a tripwire frag trap and lived! Broken leg and ruined backpack that's it. Beware locked doors! Are landmines still in the game? I've not found one for the longest time.
The cheese trap is no longer possible, I just tested it and survived by inches when I took the grenade back and there was no “pin back” option anymore. A live grenade in hand with about two seconds to explode and you have to HOLD the button to drop it. That shit blow right behind my ass and I was lucky enough to be half covered by the wall
Is it possible to chain tripwires with the appropriate spacing ? as in running into one, triggering the tripping animation which will bring you to the next one, tripping you again and so on ? you could maybe drive someone off a roof like this.
Since 1.16 you can shoot it, just make sure you're back far enough. I was still unaware of the blast radius but someone had put one on the entrance to our base (just barely saw it in time). Got back in the airlock and shot it with a pistol and almost died, but it worked.
I've got a few grenades and wire on ddu server, looking forward to setting up a position to attract bandits and trap bottom entrances to a indutrial building in the large section of docks on the coast
