When I have a jacket that feels a little too small but still fits under the arms, I use a large scarf (with a print that might pick up the colour of the jacket), The scarf seems to disguise the fact that the jacket no longer does up by filling the gap at the front.
Love love love your tips, dear Frédérique! Here is mine: When you store your clothes for the winter, especially those, that can become damage b y a clothes-moth - put a few bay-leaves into the bag with the clothes. Your clothes will stay safe :) Love youuu XX
I always have a safety pin or two on the zipper pull of my makeup bag. You never know when you might need one plus it’s not floating around at the bottom of bag. Not too exciting but useful!
You're so refreshing! Aside from that, for the rust on your fan, go to your local hardware store and ask for NAVAL JELLY. Take your fan apart and brush it onto the rusty areas. Allow it to sit overnight. Voila! You'll be able to rinse the parts and rust away. Allow them to dry and spray paint with a Rustoleum clear paint. Reassemble the fan, and it will look like new again!
Great video!!! Currently, my favorite fashion hack is to wear a cardigan backwards with the buttons on the back. I think it is very chic and unusual and adds a little bit of a twist to an outfit. Hope you like this one.
Hey Frederique! Great video! I like the brooch idea! This video was fun. I don't know whether this can be considered as fashion hack or not... But please have a tailor who can alter just about anything. You may not have a great husband or a great friend but a good tailor is a best friend alongside the hair dresser. Also while buying shoes, go to store during the evening coz at that time your feet is probably tired and sore... You will know which shoe is comfortable. Well I always do this and my shoes last longer now!
These are all great tips!! I have to say, though, I’ve become very intolerant of pieces in my wardrobe that require any kind of hack, and I’ve decluttered them. 😂 I’m not sure if it counts as a hack, but I do use a tailor if I love a piece but there’s something off about it - I just had big annoying bell sleeves taken off a black dress and now it’s perfection. ☺️ You’re extra hilarious when you’re over caffeinated lol!
Beltloop = the thingy on the side for putting the belt through. Tip: when you buy something with buttons put clear nail varnish on the cotton. It will last longer. Another tip: upgrade plastic or "cheap looking" buttons on basic clothes with luxury buttons.
Excellent tips! Some I already knew. I forgot about how useful the broach is and it went out of style because it became so 80’s. Let’s bring it back!💕💋
@@ms.frederique The same here my love! I think we are the same age and you’ll see my age on my channel. I can’t wait for covid to be over so I can add one broach to my lifestyle.
Yes!! And more scarves!! I think they look elegant with blazers. I am just beginning to find my style and I think its classic and romantic so I love brooches!
Great tips as always , fashion tape is my favourite. My Mum taught me a great tip on not transferring make up on to clothes eg white tight T-shirt or jumper by using a silk scarf over your head put on top remove scarf , great to use while out shopping too !!
I use four types of hangers: velvet for most items, “crystal” (clear plastic) for heavier jackets or dresses, clip-type for skirts and trousers, and in winter, padded ones for knits. I know knits should be folded, but I don’t have any shelf space, and the padding minimizes damage. They’re only out four or five months per year, so they recover their shape completely after washing, during their long summer rest in storage, folded in zipper bags. Each type of hanger is uniform, all my velvet ones are black, for example, so my wardrobe still looks neat. I rather like having everything hanging, it helps me see what I have in my huge wardrobe. I’m thinking of buying the matching clips to convert my velvet ones to skirt/pants hangers, but I don’t know if the velvet hangers are sturdy enough, they’re pretty flimsy.
I love the elastic around the front waist button to add room for the bloated, sad tummy. I love the back tie too. So much fun! See you next time! ❤️ Suzy
Hi Frederique! This is my first time commenting-I just love your positivity and honesty! Your videos are so fun to watch! I also don’t like to iron so I throw the item into the dryer with one ice cube for 3 minutes- it works! I’d love another cooking video with recipes from France!
Hi, Frédérique. I love your videos. I appreciate how you get to the point soon and you move from one point to the next quite rapidly and how you supplement the talking part with visuals. Very important. Still, my fashion hack, which was given to me by my husband, who is a photographer, is to ALWAYS WEAR A LITTLE BIT OF RED Photographs that have a little bit of red always get noticed without you not knowing the reason why. The same way the eye will get drawn towards you if you are wearing the colour. But do it subtly. Maybe as a lipstick, or nail varnish or a small earrings. Or as a hat, shoes or a handbag.
I have red hair which causes me a lot of makeup problems. Sometimes in the daytime even brown mascara looks too burnt-hole-in-a-blanket (my mother's description) for me so I started ordering great redhead mascara from the companies that do this. When I got stuck in a pinch without _any_ makeup around except the contents of my portable makeup bag, and had to get ready for a Zoom seminar ( _YIKES_!) I simply used the redhead mascara on my brows, and to make it more defined, filled in a little light brown strokes with a brown eyeliner. I used a lighter lipstick as a "cream blush" and just dabbed it on with my fingers, and used a more definite vibrant color as my "real" lipstick. I used my Clinique 25 colored sunblock as foundation. I used a YSL _touche éclat_ concealer #1 ( very light) as the base for eyeshadow on my lid, and made a sort of shadow for the crease again with a rubbing off the brown eyeliner. I did up my eyes with the mascara, and powdered all over and I looked surprisingly presentable! Redhead and super fair skin hack! Love all your hacks, Frédérique! I will steal all of them. Love tape, and brooch/broche the best. Shoelace and belt loops great too!
You are so genuinely funny - wonderful way to start my day, smiling ! Maybe not a hack, but play with attaching earrings on fine chain link necklaces for another look. Dinner rings on scarfs at the knot or bow area for a pop of interest. Extend our jewelry looks without new purchases !
Love it... Click, click... Click, click!! 🔔 My tip is that I use a big shoulder bag for work and keep a small & fancy bag inside with phone, wallet, keys, etc... So if/when I go out for lunch or event after work, I have my fancy purse with essentials and not hauling a giant bag.... Keep up the fabulous videos!! 😍
Love these hacks especially the shoelace for gapping jeans. Genius. Stay real. It is your number 1 asset. Besides laughing at yourself, that is. Much love 💕
I have the “jeans or pants gaping in the back” issue a lot. I fix it by sewing 2 short darts downward, at the back of the waist, with a sewing machine. (You can also take it to a tailor.)
Love your videos! When my clothes are all in black in summer. I wear my yellow pumps and yellow handbag. And instantly it's chique 😉. Greetings from Belgium
I hate ironing too. I hang my outfit at the back of my shower rail when I shower and then over the shower head with shower curtain closed while I get ready. Usually it steams the wrinkles out. When traveling, first thing I hang all my outfits at the back of the shower rod.
Thank you for your entertaining and informative videos! For humid days, carry a dryer sheet (new or already put through the dryer) in your purse and run it over your hair after combing to smooth away the surface frizzies. It makes your hair smooth and shiny, you can do it several times a day, and it helps you avoid using more hair product.
Omg such gems you offered in this video...thank you. I especially love the shoe lace tied in back of jeans to tighten the waist-Why I haven’t thought of this all these years I’ll never know!
Thank you Frederique ✨ love the earring tip, I've a lot of bijou (dress jewellery, we always called it "bijou") earrings, now I can finally wear them. If you don't like ironing, maybe invest in a travel streamer, it's really small and quick. You hang the clothing up and just steam it for a minute by moving the steamer over the required parts. It's great on difficult fabrics and blouse sleeves for example💜👌🏻
I don’t know if you can get it in Australia, but I love Downy Wrinkle Spray. It smells really fresh and quickly gets rid of wrinkles. Even for knits which have been hiding in the bottom of the clean laundry basket. It also makes it easier to iron things like khaki pants, linen, etc. It looks like it comes in an aerosol can, but it’s a special sprayer that uses ambient air to mist the spray. I love my purse organizer. I also love using wristlets to organize things. I have a wristlet for cosmetics, one for tech stuff like chargers, US extension cords, screen wipes, power banks, etc. I don’t carry it all the time, but I keep everything in it, so I can easily grab it instead of running around trying to find everything. I also have a little leather cosmetic pouch I use for my glasses/sunglasses. I wear glasses and have a couple pairs of prescription sun glasses. I keep a little divider inside so I can keep two pairs of sunglasses in it, and I can easily slip my glasses in and out when going inside and outside. I keep my keys on a carabiner that easily clips on the ring at the base of the shoulder strap. I put my keys on the inside of my bag. I have a smaller carabiner on my keyring that has the key to my mailbox and house on it, so I don’t have to completely unclip my keychain from my bag. It also easily clips back on. My car doesn’t have a keyed ignition, so I don’t have to take my keys out that much. Keeping them in my bag has saved me so much time looking for my keys. If someone carries a messenger bag or backpack, they could do the same. I am not that organized, but I have been able to completely organize my handbag and contents with the organizer and small wristlets. My wallet is a larger zip up one with a wrist strap which makes it easier to carry. I bought a red one so it would be easy to find.
Loved this video! When I don't feel like ironing and the garment doesn't have too many wrinkles, I throw the piece of clothing in the dryer with a damp towel for about 10 to 15 minutes. It takes out the wrinkles enough that I can wear it. Your fun personality make your videos so fun to watch! My favorite tip is the one with the brooch. Genius!
Loving your video today, always do! :-) To make high heeled shoes and boots more comfy I always use an insole, makes all the difference. And if dresses or blouses have too deep a neckline I wear a camisole underneath in a complimentary or neutral colour. I also sometimes sew swatches of fabric into low necklines when I want it to be permanent, then I don't need an extra under layer.
They are called belt loops! My tip is that when I wear a shirt tucked in, I tuck it into the elastic of my panties so it almost becomes a bodysuit. Makes tucking the shirt look more seamless.
I do this all the time! Makes the shirts/tops stay in place 😆 mum always did it. You can still billow the top so it’s a little looser looking too if you don’t want it too fitted looking👍
Your hacks are great! The way you delivered them, with humor, is priceless! Being able to authentically laugh at yourself is the best hack of all! Love💞
❤️ Good tips! I especially like the fashion tape on the belt so the total look is sleek, rather than having to tuck the end inside and downward (I still do it too if I wanna look slouchy chic lol). One I'd like to share is when you wear hosiery /body shapers underneath the clothing and you'd like to prevent static (very annoying and not sexy) have a small/discreet métal safety pin on the inside of your clothes - be careful and use the smooth ones to prevent snagging. I love this hack!
Steel wool will clean the rust off your fan. 😉 What about tape on the inside of top, behind the brooch, it'll add some security & protect you if the pin pops. Great tips. 👍💕
These tips are all superb. Mine is hanging your clothes up with a coat hanger in a bathroom that is heated if you hate ironing. Most shirts and dresses will dry nicely on the hanger.
Love you so much..🥰 some blogs have good information but I don’t connect with the person. Your personality is delightful, and so down to earth. Hugs from Alabama, 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸.
For the jewellery. Instead of, or as well as, toilet paper, use rice to absorb the humidity. It is used in salt shakers to stop salt absorbing moisture from the air.
I gave up carrying a purse, I do backpacks. Gave up earrings too. My piercings require same jewelry that doesn't come out. Sigh...French women are so chic and savvy. Thanks for sharing your style😊
The tip of the Brooch: you can still use it but position it differently, e.g. at the side. So, you do not need to worry much about your back. You can also use a safety pin in matching color of the textile so it works invisible creating a drape effect. Another trick for the extra volume clothes, is to use a belt and style the blouse the way you want.
Also, put the mini silicone baggies in your jewelry box to eliminate moisture and prevent oxidation. I usually find the baggies in my delivery boxes with I buy electronics.
Super hilarious today Frederique 😀The fashion tape especially with cami straps that slip down was great. I like the brooch at the back and the elastic on the jacket sleeve. My hack is no more than 3 colours going on in an outfit. Or wear neutrals with a pop accent colour as a contrast in shoes, blouse, scarf or bag. Elevate an outfit with one carefully selected piece of jewellery. If you are busty wear long scarves or necklaces to draw the eye down and lengthen your silhouette.
Hello Frederique’. Another Beautiful And fun video... it is difficult to choose which hack was best... bands on the arms to keep jacket sleeves up.. oh! Yes!! Tying loose dress in back to give a slimmer look from front... oh! Yes!!! The brooch in back of the oversized shirt... yes! But I must find a nice Chanel Brooch 💃💃. Keep the good and fun ideas coming!! 💃💃 Thanks you!!
@@ms.frederique let me think?? Uhm? One thing I do - when wearing a white button up shirt, I use my flat iron to crisp up the collar. I find it works better than the steamer. (Making sure no hair products are on flat iron). 😂 I enjoy wearing slip dress... I will put a tee shirt on top and knot at waist .. to dress it down.. Maybe with sneakers sometime to really dress it down💃💃💃. Can’t wait to see all the ideas that you share 🤩🤩
That was fun to watch and laugh❣️ passants de ceinture= belt loops! I like the elastic on the jeans waist to keep it fastened, I need that once in a while. All were good tips. Thank you❤️😹
Hi Frederique!!! thank you for the great video with great ideas. I have the same problem if I use fashion earrings. What I do is, apply an antibacterial ointment to my earlobe. Here in the U.S is call Neosporin and I believe in Australia is call Tricin. Maybe this tip can help a little bit. Big hugs🤗
for the broach hack at the back of the blouse..i tried the same hack by doing the exact same on the one side of the front, making a beautiful drape...thanx for this idea!!!
Very crafty tips! Love the shoelace for the jeans!! Here's one I do on button fly jeans b/c can't stand any gaping; in between the buttons I sew a hook&eye closure, usually only need 2. Lays much flatter and covers spacing when seated! Merci beaucoup mon amie😊
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂I am so grateful I found you!! I love you to pieces!! Always a great video and great info!! You are such an inspiration and a beautiful soul!! ❤️❤️❤️
Wildfire smoke here in California last summer (did anyone see pics of our days without sunlight?) heavily tarnished my silver jewelry, even though it was stored in drawers. I laboriously polished it over the winter, now each item is stored in a tiny jewelry baggie with an anti-tarnish square, in one of those divided-compartment boxes. A lot of work, but I won’t have to polish again, just a quick rub with a silver cloth after use.
Silver jewelry is easy to polish. Put a dab of Sensodyne toothpaste in the palm of your hand, add a couple of drops of water until it’s a little loose, then rub your jewelry between your palms until clean. I learned this from a jeweler and it works wonderfully on all of my silver jewelry.
Love your fashion hacks. I used to wear stretchy tube like skirts (when I was slimmer!!) with a stretchy elasticised waist and depending on what mood I was in, I would adjust the length of the skirt by folding the waist down. So one look was maxi skirt the other was a shorter skirt just above the knees. I would folder down several times to achieve the shorter length and cover the folds by wearing a wide belt or longer top. This works with any knitted or stretchy type narrow skirt xx
Great hacks my dear and lots of laughs🤣. I especially liked the shoestring on the back of the jeans. Must remember for next time. It will be useful on shorts and bermudas as well. Merci beacoup🥰. Cheers from Switzerland🇨🇭🥳.
I really love the trick about the elastic bands on jacket sleeves, as I prefer to push the sleeves up too, ingenious! Not so sure about the tape on the belt, good theory but doesn't it mark the leather? I already do the tie belt to the back of a too large dress, happy to see you do too :). Just noticed comments on moths, did you realise to kill eggs, you put garment in freezer for 10 days, thaw out, then refreeze for another week. There are videos on youtube showing how to embroider decoratively over a moth hole, which makes a feature, if hole is somewhere you can't repair easily. Using smoke bombs and freezer, and keeping all my woollies in large sealed bags, one per drawer (holding several woollies each), permanently, with transparent lids, so I can see them stored a la Marie Kondo, I'm now moth free after 4 years of hard work (and cost). The eggs are apparently fairly delicate, hence washing in a machine with a 1000 spin cycle, even though a 30 degree woolly wash, also damages the little wotsits. I keep a sticky moth trap in every wardrobe, so I would see instantly if any appear. I also check anything i buy really carefully on arrrival.
Belt loops. I wish we had a fancy name for them but I’ve always heard them called belt loops. I am currently bingeing your channel. Love your content. 💕from California.
Some excellent tips - as always! Merci. I changed all my clothes hangers to the slimline velvet ones. Although they are super, the wooden are better - so you really do have the best hangers for your clothes! Hopefully that makes you feel a little better about your hangers! 🤗
@@ms.frederique To be fair, I think it depends upon the individual wardrobe. Perfect for lightweight blouses etc. Personally I found the wooden hangers more durable; sturdier. One has to be very careful hanging a blouse on the thinner velvet hanger - the wooden hanger has more support at the shoulders for the item. Whilst a silk blouse might sit perfectly on a thin velvet hanger, it’s not as suitable for heavier garments like a jacket or a suit. The wooden hanger gives much more support. Likewise if you want to hang the skirt/trousers with the jacket of the suit a thin velvet hanger is not as supportive as a wooden hanger. The other advantage of a wooden hanger is that the wood can be a natural pest deterrent (ie silverfish, moths etc). Admittedly one can always purchase cedar-wood repellent. Of course there are also padded hangers! lol To finish on a positive for velvet hangers - they certainly do give you more space in your wardrobe!
I have fashion tape in my closet and didn’t wear a belt the other day because the loop was broken! I didn’t even think of using it even though I had heard that tip before. Thank you for the reminder. I need to put that tape on my dresser and not buried in my closet so I think to use it! I just love you and your channel😀. I am learning French and would live for you to do a video in French!
Love the tips especially about the fashion tape. A tip I use is to solve the problem of earnings sliding forward in the earlobe or hanging down because my piercings are stretched (lots of big heavy earnings in the 80’s). I bought a pack of those rubber earring backs that come in clear or white. I either wear them alone or with the earring back that came with my earrings. You can push them close to the back of your ear and because they are rubber, they don’t slide and the earrings stays close to the ear and don’t sag. It works great for hoop earnings too.
