Listening to Psy narrate is like trying to read a RU-vid comment ALL IN CAPS. Good lord, there should be a warning before each of his videos. RIP my eardrums

I think more RPGs should play around with a hidden morality system. It can be fun if the game says something is "good" or "bad", but I think a lot of good games would be better if they kept it hidden.

Absolutely. These episodes take a lot of time to make and are normal scheduled in advance. One week a lot of cooking youtubers all uploaded hamburger videos within a few days of each other. It happens.

Lol, it's a fun coincidence to be sure. I doubt it's planned, given how long some of these scripts take to write. But always fun to see.

The goblin tribe one from Oblivion is actually mentioned in a side quest where you have to stop a war between two tribes so that a bunch of refugees can return to and rebuild their farm after it had been overrun by goblins due to the ongoing war between two tribes

One of my favorite video game morality systems is over and done with before the first hour of gameplay. Chrono Trigger's Millenial Fair gives you the opportunity to act like you do in any other RPG of the time - rush from one NPC to the next, pick up anything that's not nailed down, sell other people's property - and then it literally puts you on trial about half an hour later because one of the game's themes is actions and consequences. You're about to embark on a quest to save the world, so first it trains you to care about the people in this world.

F.E.A.R. is a consistently impressive hidden mechanic game. The reactive enemy AI, particle generation, bullet physics, adaptive scare mechanics, ext... F.E.A.R. is what you get when a rockstar dev team creates a focused gaming experience. Their team didn't need to generate a thoughtful, tactical enemy AI that chooses random different paths each playthrough- but they did anyway. I regularly think about F.E.A.R. when I watch modern AAA shooter enemies getting stuck on walls or suicide charging my character....

Call of Duty Black Ops and a couple CoD games after had hidden songs you could activate while playing Zombies. I remember the 1st time I found this out, my friend navigated me around the map and had me find these meteorite piece around the zombies maps and press a button when near them to activate them. Once you activated all of them, an epic song played along with your zombie killing festivities. It really added some umph to the experience, and every since when I played zombies I made sure to try to activate the song at least once during my playthroughs.

Metro 2033 had what would be best described as "Life Experience Points" not "Moral Points" you gained "Life Experience" through both morally good and morally evil actions and you needed a certain amount of "Life Experience" to get the good (non-cannon) ending. Last light is where those became "Moral Points" with good and evil actions altering which of the three endings you could get.

I hate when games mess with your aim. When I put the crosshair on something, that's where I want my bullets to go. Playing old DOS games, the number one thing I absolutely f***ing HATE is the damn auto-aim system that won't let me shoot an object if there are literally any enemies, anywhere on the screen. Or that insist on targeting the small nuisance enemies that are closer, rather than the big, hulking enemies behind them. Just send the bullets to where I'm aiming!
@ericb3157
@ericb3157 Год назад
i remember one game that sort of annoyed me with this: Turok 2 on the N64. when trying to use the sniper scope, the auto-aim will usually help hit the target, IF it's not moving. (if it's moving, you won't be able to "lead" the target, which is REALLY annoying) BUT if you try to snipe one of those Humpbacked enemies in the "lair of the Mantids" level, it will make you hit their HUMP! VERY frustrating!
@lurkerrekrul
@lurkerrekrul Год назад
@@ericb3157 The only game where I used an optional auto-aim was one part of the game Deep Space 9: The Fallen. You were on a planet, inside a cave. There were these tiny flying creatures that were virtually impossible to hit with manual aim. I tried for about half an hour before I finally broke down and turned auto-aim on to kill them. Then I turned it off again. It was the only part of the game I used it for. I did kind of cheat in some of the other levels though. In the levels where you play as Worf, you only start the levels with your Batt'leth, which is a sword. Against enemies who have ranged weapons. I used a cheat code to give him a phaser like all the other characters. In my mind it never made sense that he would take a sword on missions, rather than a ranged weapon. The game seemed kind of unfinished anyway. The tutorial teaches you to scan for the best location to beam down supplies, which is something that you NEVER do during the game. You can call other crewmembers on your communicator, but other than the one who will give you the mission goals, none of them ever have anything to say.

The Tony Hawk "hidden gaming mechanic" is neither hidden nor a "gaming" mechanic. I mean, it is hidden yeah, but not hidden like the morality system of Prey which is more secret than anything else but more like "streaming assets on tunnels/elevators/etc is a well known solution to a well known problem it's just that every game implements it in a slightly different way" kind of thing. If you know how games work you know it's there but of course developers won't tell you "hey the loading happens here". And the "gaming" mechanic part... kinda? I mean yeah, you alter the way you play a game without loading screens but you really don't. I don't know, I feel like that spot in the list is an excuse to reach ten. PS: Portal tries really hard to do this with the elevators but it fails even in new hardware with SSDs and lots of memory lol

Actually when you get a moral point in Metro, you get almost a flash of the screen and a chime like a traquil drop of water...or are we mistaken?

A good one I can think of is the fact that during level loads on Deus Ex 2, the game soft-reboots the console in order to clear the system memory and load the new level. Crash by design.
