Yeah, these lists are really dumb, at times. It's the same with his 'Jeff' take from SAW 4. Nobody cared about Jeff dying. He was an annoyingly slow and dumb character. 🤣🤣
There's cleverly taking the piss out of meta horror like the first Scream, and then there's using meta jokes over substance with Scream 4. Hey, at least it isn't Scream 3. Fuck Scream 3.
I feel like the narrator personally didn't like Scream 4's opening and just assumed everyone agreed. I'm pretty sure most people thought it was pretty fitting for the franchise. Know what does belong on this list? Hostel 2. Or any sequel that kills off the survivor of the previous film in horrible ways, making their successful escape that we celebrated pointless.
@ichigoeater Like Alice, from "Friday the 13th". If they had to bring her back at all, I think it would've been better if she'd shown up around the cusp between the second and third acts of the movie, and she committed self-sacrifice to protect the other characters. What we actually got was not only too brief, but it also left questions that are still asked by fans of the series to this day. (6/21/2022)

Saw 4 starting with the autopsy and not Jeff was a shame but a good misdirect. The beginning of saw 4 is actually the start of saw 5 and the end of saw 4 is the conclusion of 3 & 4... I love the twisted timeline
I agree that the twisted timelines are fun, but I was definitely let down when you get to the end, see Jeff, and he just gets shot... Was that what Jigsaw intended? Nope, just a poor attempt at tying loose ends. Would have been way cooler if somehow the two of them had a series of traps that played off of their shared flaws (or something. I don't know.)
Yeah I’ve got no problem with the way everything was handled. Jeff did have a pretty great story but the series has never been about the subjects co tinting forward. Though if anything, Im a bit upset that Adam was killed off and not allowed to redeem himself. Leigh Whannel is a great actor and should write himself into his films more.
By the time Jeff appeared, I couldn't remember who he was. It had been a while, and he wasn't one of those immediately recognizable actors that everyone can identify at a glance. Maybe if he had been a bigger part of the movie, it would have made more sense.
I thought the way Saw was done was brilliant. Created a bigger shock when you finally found out what happened in the end. Especially to that music! Iconic.
What people want? They have no power or control over how a movie turns out, unlike today's generation who are obsessed with seeing themselves being represented in everything.
the opening to insidious 2 isn’t that bad. i actually saw that one 1st, courtesy of my brother-in-law, and i quite enjoyed it. i enjoyed it even more after i watched the 1st insidious. i love how there storylines are intertwined.
I don't think Insidious Chapter 2 belonged on here. 1 I don't think anyone really cared about the dubbing. Hell, I wasn't entirely sure it was Lin Shaye until the second viewing. Also, as far horror squeals go, it was a really good follow up. It kept continuity and even explained random weirdness from the first movie (he's got your baby, he's got your baby...) Scream 4 also was a stretch. I'm sure some people might not have really got the movie, but the use of meta humor and dissection was what made the movie so great. If it bothered you... you obviously didn't fully understand the movie outside the slasher it still was.
About the Halloween one: the first Halloween movie, with Michael Myers, was intended to be a stand-alone. It was supposed to be a series just centered around the holiday. The third one wasn't a mistake for following the original intent, the timing screwed it up; the first movie did so well the producers wanted more Michael Myers, so we got Halloween 2. So when the third one came out, everyone was expecting more Michael Myers. I learned all this from the Dead Meat Kill Count episode about Halloween 3, if it's wrong then cool. I'm not a huge horror fan, and don't know more than that.
Actually there was always going to be a second Michael Meyers movie because the Halloween franchise was meant to be a anthology where each film would get 2 movies. That's why there were 2 Meyers movies and then season of the witch. The producers wanting more has nothing to do with it
LEGIT...fucking WHO was agonizing over Jeff's fate? He was one of the most annoying trap plot characters in the entire series. Nobody cared that he died. 🤣🤣
Right? :D But whether you have strong feelings about his character or not, that whole entry was entirely random. Weaving a complicated web until the final revelation is kind of Saw's thing, so not to find out immediately what happened to anybody is not out of the movie's spirit at all. It plays around with your sense of time anyway, because a lot is happening at the same time but you are tricked into thinking it's in sequence.
Even though Tuesday knight was the new Kristen, you gotta admit the opening song she did was killer! And the Jason goes to hell opening was bad ass. I wouldn't classify when the coroner finally eats the heart as part of the opening..the movie is past credits at that point, so the movie has officially started.
The opening scene of Jason Goes to Hell would actually be in my top 10 BEST openings...up until the heart-eating, possession nonsense. At that point, it becomes the WORST Friday movie in the franchise.
When I saw “Jason goes to Hell”, I thought there wasn’t anyway they could make a worse Jason movie than that. Then Jason X said “Hold my machete………IN SPACE!!!”
I kind love scream 4 twist opening of a movie within a movie then that kind hilarious opening of scream 5 was. I was very disappointed by scream 5 in whole too.
the whole thing about saw 4 (SPOILERS AHEAD BTW) was that the movie was actually happening at the same time with the third one. the intro was the only part where it showed the aftermath of the 3rd movie but that was intentional to confuse the viewer and make the plot twist harder to guess. that is why we only see jeff's death right at the end because that's where it finally reached the ending of the 3rd movie. also who cares about if jeff was still alive or not, everyone hates jeff lmao
i think it's pretty apparent, with the Scream 4 entry especially, that this is just the speaker's hot take opinions, with him also making the mistake that most people agree with him

I think they need to change up the style. Do something other than "10 movies that screwed up ___". Because it does almost come off as them complaining about their favored genre, which we all love.
Ohhhh I got one! Hostel 2. I hated that one. After alllll the shit he got put through and lived. This secret society freaking gets him 🤷I understand it was setting up the second films conclusion but he really got screwed over. I'd have rather not seen him in the second at all rather than killing him crap.

Blair Witch 2 may not have been a found footage retread of the original. but the third movie did just that to less fanfare too. I liked Book of Shadows. I thought it was a clever premise and the twist was interesting. Underrated movie for sure.
God have mercy on my soul, but I'm a big fan of Book of Shadows. I thought it was a really good choice to move away from the found footage style and I really liked how the movie played out.
Haha thanks for including the Halloween movies. I adore the original and it has a few great sequels but the majority of them are god awful and constantly give you the finger for getting invested in the characters and just looking forward to the next sequel in general. Nearly all the bad sequels get defended these days though. Seriously people bitching about Halloween Kills needs to give H5,H6,Resurrection, or the RZ films another watch without nostalgia goggles.
I like Jason X but after the android kills him instead of throwing his remains out into space they leave them at the rejuvenating lab only for him to be rebuilt even deadlier. Or Freddy vs Jason they don't hire Kane Hodder to play Jason to fight Freddy, they hired someone else. He did pretty well but Kane would have been badass.
There was no reason for Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows to be "found footage", and there was really no reason for anyone to ever make another "found footage" movie ever again because at that point we all knew it wasn't really found footage which took the bloom off the rose. The Blair Witch Project was lightening in a bottle. It came along at the right time, the marketing on this the relatively new thing called the internet, and the "Curse of The Blair Witch" documentary that was released on the Syfy channel a week before the films release all helped further push the notion that it was real found footage and this caused a movie that only costed around $25,000 to produce to gross $248,600,000, which is the highest gross for a "found footage" movie. All because a large number of the audience either thought it was real or they just weren't sure... Knowing the "found footage" isn't real found footage completely defeats the purpose and makes the concept pointless.
I agree Blair witch 2 could've worked better not as a found footage film but I disagree with the rest of what your saying, found footage films still have the ability to be a type of story and I think they should exist
@@thecrtf4953 We can agree to disagree on that one. I think if we go into the "found footage" knowing it's not real found footage, it completely misses the point of a found footage movie. People thought Cannibal Holocaust was real and people thought Blair Witch Project was real. Both films reached legendary status because of that. Other found footage movies just feel like movies that would have been better had they been shot like a regular movie, lol... I do enjoy a good mockumentary though. There's a really good fan made one here on RU-vid called Michael Myers: Absolute Evil. It's sort of ID/Tru TV type crime documentary that presents Michael Myers as though he were real. It's pretty awesome. Check it out.
@@mtb5431 I like them better than everything except 1, 2, and the 2018 reboot. But that's just my personal preference. As much as I love the franchise, I never found Michael genuinely scary. But I can't lie, when I was younger, watching the Rob Zombie film, I found massive Michael pretty chilling. He just seemed unstoppable
Agreed. I like his version of the story and I love how brutal Michael is in part 2. I could have done without all the weird spiritual crap in part 2 but that's just a nitpick.
I don't actually have a problem with any of these I actually watched. I loved the Scream 4 intro! I'm a fan of Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell, & Britt Robertson. I think the double fake out was hilarious. 5 was just lame in comparison
as far as the Blair Witch franchise goes. this is the main reason why “Paranormal Activity” franchise bothers me, because THAT was EXACTLY what the Blair Witch franchise should’ve been. and about “Jaws: The Revenge” SEAN DIES!😡😡 that’s what pissed me off! that’s almost as disturbing as Han Solo, Luke and Leah (RIP Carrie Fisher😢) dying in the recent Disney “Star Wars” trilogy… YES! i just made that comparison…. Whaaat? Blair Witch 2 is 100 times better than the original. I can't fathom someone liking the original better. Ok found footage was new but what a snoozefest. The opening to Jason Goes to Hell is the greatest Friday the 13th opening of the entire franchise. It completely subverts expectations AND bests every complaint that every critic had of the series. Because by that point, YES something WOULD be done about it. If you accept zombie Jason but not body swapping demon Jason, you're full of shit. Not to mention, the coroner did a FANTASTIC job and was scarier than anything we'd seen in a while. Plus Robert looked amazing as Jason later in the film, AND we do get the traditional Jason back in the end. I choose to believe Laurie faked her death in Halloween resurrection because she was traumatized by her error in H²O, so with killing him off the table, convincing him he'd killed her was her only option
I disagree with what you said about Blair witch two and how it was bad that it mentioned the first movie. The whole marketing for the first movie was that it was real. That it really happened. So mentioning it is meant to tie the movie to the real world and act as if the first movie actually happened. Of course there's no excuse for ditching the realistic found footage style for cinema graphic style other than to subvert the trope.
I actually enjoyed Jason Goes To Hell! I thought it gave a credible reason as to how Jason kept coming back. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it! Keep up the great content!!

Nightmare 3 had no flaws. When Nightmare 4 started I had no idea who she was thought new character till she said her name "Be calm Kristen!" And I was like what? lol. Nightmare 4 had a good opening soundtrack. Patricia didn't return to part 4 cause she was pregnant
@@thecunninlynguist Even Jason Takes Manhattan had Jason kill people on screen. Jason X perfectly defined the Friday the 13th movies. They are insane but so damn fun. And they are at least aware of how dumb the concept of Jason in space was and they embraced it. Plus, it has the best kills like the liquid nitrogen, the giant screw, the ventilation and the double VR kill.
I believe the plan was for jaws the revenge; for Roy Scheider’s character Martin Brody to be eaten/killed off by the shark in the opening scene; but Roy Scheider didn’t want to do it
Halloween is fascinating in that I don't think there's an entry that some part of the fan base doesn't just loathe except the first and maybe the 2018 film. It's really fascinating compared to other series which aren't as consistently controversial... except maybe Texas Chainsaw Massacre albeit i personally think the majority of that series is just mediocre.
The director of Die Hard 2, the one who got Bonnie Bedelia to return when even the original director couldn't achieve that in the following movie, just couldn't get Patty Arquette to return
Thank you!!! I can’t believe all the flak Halloween Kills gets while H5 and H6 are given a pass these days for simply being “nostalgic”. Thought they were both crap as a kid and my opinion remains unchanged today.
And anybody that hated the later hellraisers obviously didn't watch the series because the series ended at 4. Everything else was just a different script with hellraiser on it.
I always defend Hellraiser: Inferno and Halloween 3 because if you remove the franchise names they both do well as stand-alone films. Craig Sheffer is a really good actor who didn't go overboard until it was absolutely necessary to the script. Unike certain other horror actors who seem to play a role as if their character has an on-off switch. "Everything's fine"...."Oh my God!"...."Everything's fine"..."Oh my...".
It's not well-known, but the movie *They're Watching* begins with a flash-forward that spoils one of the deaths from the climax. Total fuck up from an otherwise decent film.
i loved saw 4, even more when u saw the ending... it was even more mind blowing to know that 3 and 4 was happening at the same time...so if they revealed that at the start and made us know what happened to jeff, it just would ruin everything... for me it was the best movie out of the franchise even, it may be true I was confused at the start when i first saw it but at the same time it added mystery and it made u guessing while expecting some kind of reveal with Jeff in the end... who would hate the intro if they got to the outro? it made sense why it was made like that. And why hate the opening if u didn't see the whole thing? The opening just made sense in the end so it wasn't like they forgot about it, they just made it look like that to give us a bigger wow effect in the end. Loved everything about it tbh
