There is no way Superior Spider-Man is on this list that figure is a certified hood classic! I def understand the rationale you mentioned but I think it will mean so much to so many comic readers. I highly recommend picking up the Superior Spider-Man run it’s so much fun!
bro yeah superior suit looks dope. To me, it's more of a sense that are a decent number of collectors who bought into the look and Spidey hype and will have no long term attachment to the figure. As I mentioned, I have 0 doubts the invested comic fans will be thrilled.
I am totally fatigued with SW and Marvel. The basis of this entire top ten. The heyday is over for both, with no real excitement for any new projects. They both need a rest, and the toys. I’d love a more adventurous selection, but fully understand that demand is market driven. The rub. 🤷
What i've found as a new Hot Toy collector is that you've got to take the rough with the smooth there is never a perfect Hot Toy there is always something wrong with every figure i get straight out the box weather it's down to a tiny rip on the foot, peeling, a mark on the figure or a rubbish bit of stitching, but you look at someone else's figure that's exactly the same one and you notice something different on there one and then you realise you would rather have the fault you've got than there fault. Every Hot Toy i have bought from brand new has had something wrong with it it's never perfect.
I was pretty sure that Artisan Anakin would be number 1. He is quite an expensive figure, the first official Artisan and a beloved character. I feel like a lot of people are super hyped for this release. Considering the initial photos with the Karen hair, I'm surprised to see that he wasn't on your list at all.
Love the Ron Swanson avi. Yes, it's definitely an improvement. My fear is in the final it will go closer to the middle of the two iterations, which wouldn't be great.
As a new collector, this is my main fear for 2025. I have so many PO but they are all from prototypes, I hope to not be disappointed… Also that Indy looks amazing, I kinda want it but like you said I would much prefer a young iconic Indy.

I disagree on some of them. Starlord has been done already and with a new LOOK and head sculpt it will be pretty cool to have along with the rest of the team as it was in the comics. Kenobi has been delayed and is for a good reason to fix the head sculpt and am fine with that cuz he’s an iconic character that goes for Supergirl as well, the film was trash but her performance was pretty good so was Keaton’s. Old Indy looks great but they should have included in the DX a younger head sculpt that would have been awesome so I’ll give you that. Darth Sidious to me looks great cuz is from the animated series and am looking forward to that you can’t have enough of Old Palpatine’s in your collection since we only have one so far now they’re dropping two? and am down with that cuz now I’ll have one to go with my CW Maul. As for Baylan I don’t care he looks good to me am not to nick picking about head sculpts ie Mace Windu he looks good too. Joker I don’t care about artisan the sculpted looks great too and if no one wants it then it will be in the discount aisle and am down with that to save money cuz I got a lot of PO’s the one that I’ll give you is Spider-Man 3 that really worries me cuz I PO that one cuz the head sculpt looks awesome but you are right about the body proportions glad I got it with a discount and the Droideka as well lol Tnx for the video Will is good to know about this things b4 buying.

Great video! Have to agree on the clone wars Darth sidious. The headsculpt when not under the hood looks goofy for me. I’m hoping we will see a slight overhaul for the Kenobi obi wan though as it’s taking its time to release. We will see in time though
As least 75% of my collection is MCU based, so the only one on this list in my PO's is Starlord. As long as the head sculpt looks great, I'll be happy. Team suits aren't an issue as long as they make the whole, or in this case, the majority of the team. (Fingers crossed, they'll surprise us with Drax and Mantis in the near future). The rest of the team will still adorn my shelves.
Gotta admit, a couple of these were a surprise. Team Suit Starlord is a definite cop for me, the only disappointment being that there's no helmet included as I generally avoid actor headsculpts. Superior Suit Spidey though... That thing is NUTS! Cool is all I need, it's incredible.

I'm super excited for Superior Spider-man I've been wanting another one to add to my collection for spiderverse shelf. Black Suit Tobey is such a huge miss. I totally agree with the movement of how it should look. That venom head is way off and the special edition actually has the right version so not sure why couldn't just copy that sort of just make the head more full. The trunks area of tobey bother me so much like why is the waist area for spiderman figures always so high up?!?!
@@WillFoxification I’ve noticed that hot toys figures sometimes for the males have really long areas waist area as if it’s being stretched out. That could be me but I’ve noticed it on Spider-Man primarily it just seems really long for no reason compared to other figures
I just go the Symbiote Black suit from the video game. I am super disappointed in it. he suit bunches badly and the eyes are painted on. I really wish I had paid more attention to it before the PO. The Hono version everyone hates looks better IMO.
I'm a 2 star lord kinda guy, lol, and I hate that we never got a kraven the hunter from the game he was perfect! And yes, I do fear disappointment for Venom Tobey 2.0
I loved the Flash movie, especially with Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman. I myself can't wait for the reissue of the 1989 Batman by Hot Toys. I also wish HT's would remake and upgrade the ALIENS Colonial Marines figures. Their clothes, armor and weapons were pretty good, but those bodies and head sculpts are way way ugly and outdated. Please please HT remake the ALIENS figures. 😃😃😃
Unfortunately, it does. I do a video such as this every so often because they perform wayyyy better than most videos. I make them as upbeat as I can, but sadly the content you see from creators is usually a reflection of what people want. The creators that listen to their analytics, at least.

Star Lord from GotG v3 with the comic accurate suit and Superior Spider-man being on the list are uncalled for, honestly. But hard agree on the rest of the list because there's good reasons behind it.

I just thought that Star Lord is like 5% off from being perfect (the lack of the helmet bothers me even in the movie), and I'm probably biased as a Superior Spider-man fan lol, hopefully every collector can get happy when they get any of these in hand.

Bruh, all anybody wants is this star lord figure. The iconic look for the movies may be the first two films, but it’s the third film that gave comic fans what we wanted. That is an almost perfect comic book star lord. Just need a different helmet to go on it and it is beautiful. Man, this video comes off as whiny ngl.
Some of these I can see, but quite a few were clickbait here I think mate. And "they unfortunately knew sales were going to be low"? How? Given the lead times on figs compared to opening weekends, how?They'd already done the bulk of the work. And if they were half-arseing it why update it after the reactions? People love Spidey 2 and we still got that Dock Ock...
Thanks for the feedback, bro! Let me try answering these! Supergirl: The Flash was one of the biggest box office bombs of all time for the superhero genre. DC would likely have been better off not releasing the film at all. Most collectors are not lining up to buy figures from bad films and Hot Toys knows this, I'm sure they have a bevy of evidence to showcase that fact. She also died with limited screen time and may never be seen again, so most collectors could care less. Bad film, underwhelming character = low sales. They likely updated the sculpt knowing it still wouldn't sell well because sometimes you make buisness decisions that may otherwise be unwise simply to appease your consumer base. Cyborg was made after years of complaints even though sales were very likely quite low. Sometimes Hot Toys will throw collectors a bone, in other words. Doc Ock was updated and still not to the satisfaction of most collectors. Doc Ock is a more important and nostalgic character for most collectors because he comes from a far better series of films than Supergirl does in the flash. Supergirl is not a priority for the vast majority of collectors. She was updated and most collectors essentially went "oh okay cool. Anyway".

So there's no way of knowing whether the film will be good or bad. That's what I'm talking about. You're saying they should just not have released it but no-one knew it was going to be bad *before* it came out which is when the initial sculpots construction tailoring/bulk of the work is done. The Dock Ock figure though was done many many years after the film came out. See what I'm getting at? And if Flash had been a hit then the Supergirl fig would have been in demand, but again there was no way of knowing at the time they did it. You get me now? And you can't blame them for wanting to make a bit of money back on their investment! There's no logic to your central argument of it being a bad film. Again, with the timelines involved there's no way of knowing before a movie actually hits/the figure has essentially been done.
@@halfvader8015 Ahh yes fair points! Sorry for my misunderstanding! Well, I would say that the studios do know if the film is good or not before it comes out. The studios are regularly kept up to date on the progress of the film and they usually know what they have. This is why you'll see a studio put the review embargo far out if they feel confident in the quality of their film and they want early reviews generating buzz. If they feel they have a weaker film, they keep the embargo until like a day before the movie comes out. Hot Toys also has a mountain of evidence that DC figures outside of Batman and TDK trilogy usually don't perform as well as their other properties. This would explain why Hot Toy makes so few DC figures year after year. If they do make any, it's usually TDK or some other Batman. I think Hot Toys is also generally aware of the demand for a film before it releases. Could they be surprised? Sure, and if so, they'll adapt. I doubt they were at all shocked with The Flash being unsuccessful. Even if it was a good movie, no one really cared.

I know you're not really a film guy but let's see if I can explain it and not be too arrogant or gatekeeping. Movies are made up of thousands of moving parts. It's a miracle any of them are good let alone great. One of the truisms is "a film is written three times". Once in the script, once in the shooting, and once in editing. Where it can be completely reshaped each time. Even trailers can't possibly be more than a best guess. Usually made by marketing not the filmmaker who is busy - what do you know - actually editing the film. So it doesn't even have it's final form yet and yet the trailer makers are trying to guess at it. Hence trailers having stuff that's not in the film and the wrong music and so on. The editing music and vfx haven;t been done/finished yet. No-one, no-one knows what the film will be except for the director who has it in their head but not actually done yet. And sculpts. tailoring, prototypes, photography for merch will all have been done by then. Even on more niche stuff like HT which will still take another year to actually hit. That's why I kept on about production timelines. And no absolutely not on the studios knowing what they have. Or the suits would be the directors. And even the supposedly mighty Feige who never even came from comics or Marvel in the first place has proven to be ego driven pretty clearly. Imo. And mate, Kathy Kennedy - a story based on firsthand experience - for another time. Another truism is from William Goldman, the famous "no-one (in Hollywood) knows anything". And he should know, as an oscar winning screenwriter. As I said it's an additive/collaborative medium and so many ways for it to not work.Hindsight is 20./20 . In 89 all you heard all day long (believe it or not there was tv and cons and communication before the internet) was how ludicrous Michael Keaton as Batman was and what a dumpster fire it would be and Burton as well and - well the folly of listening to the audience. It was gigantic. And the comic nerds were more wrong than anyone. Even though apparently they knew more than anyone because they... consumed? So yeah on that note - about the wisdom of those who know about Batman or Superman or whatever? No better. And don't understand either medium well or the different conceits each have. The worst decisions in Hollywood are based on listening to the audience. Barely ever the audience (Little Shop of Horrors 85 a rare exception and the test groups that called John Krazinski out for being a moron on A Quiet Place being the two exceptions I can think of). Ratings cards/test audiences. Focus groups will only ever tell you what people already liked which is redundant and years out of date by the time the new thing hits. And comic readers including me aren't even a single percentage point of the profits of a big movie. They know nothing about storytelling especially in a different medium and hell don't even understand their own properly. Filmmakers are canny enough to pay them lipservice of course because they're a tiny but very vocal minority. But as someone who has drawn comics and works on CBMs/both sides of the fence, they're easily as stupid and gatekeeping as anyone else. That's why wisdom is preceded/qualified by "common". And finally, another truism. If it WAS that easy, everyone would do it. Even comic fans. The proof is - well where are all the brilliant low budget, well written movies? That's right. There'd be a crap ton of them if it were true, and there just aren't. And I subscribe to David Fincher's logic on that. God knows Hollywood and elsewhere would like to make more money by having lower budgets/higher profit ratio. And there's a big reason mid budgets are so rare now too as they're even more risky profit-wise. And even by your own argument you know how rare the embargo thing is/that it has to be a compolete dumpster fire to get to that point. Or a twist situation. And how often? Not very. Hell I'd like to think that the second I read the script I can tell if the flick will be lousy. And that only happens after I sign on and have to put in my 100% regardless - only people who alreay don't have to work get to read it first and then choose. But while usually I'm right, I've also been wrong a few times because as I say you cant just tell from a script (or storyboard artists wouldn't be a thing)/it's written three times. I do agree with a lot of what you say for sure, but on movies it kinda sorta doesn't quite work that way. Another weirdo thing for another time is the perception that movies are so so important this century when games are so much bigger. Well, the reason it's on there is not related to it's quality. It's related to people buying it solely because it looks cool, which can lead to long-term disappointment, in my experience.
I've PO every figure on this list with no hesitation or fear of not liking them. I think people need learn more about the hobby and their own preferences if these types of regrets are a thing.
Well thought out list. I’ve pre ordered that Kenobi, Palpatine and Baylan Skol but if final product is not up to snuff they are potentially on the cutting block as I also pre ordered the Episode 3 Darth Sidious and am waiting for Clone Wars Kenobi and Mandalorian Kenobi
