@@jamesmelton4412 idk if this is an example of this, but I know for a fact that content creators will purposely say incorrect things or, at the very least, leave errors in the final edit so that people (like you and me) will comment about it, thus driving up engagements. Ya see it all the time.
A good recentish one that you missed was the Nate Diaz vs Dustin Poirier title fight for that 165 pound division that was announced and just never happened.
@@thatrugbyguy I honestly think it was a gift from the MMA gods that both of their chins held up to give us a banger for the ages and a pretty good taste at what would have been
Nah, brock doesnt not like getting hit, he'd wither if fedor tagged him. Fedor also has speed and very good submissions off his back. So even if he took him down, he would've gotten armbar'd like coleman/randleman.
As a Judoka myself, I was so excited for Karo Parisyan VS Matt Hughes, and I can still hear the Pay-Per-View add when something brings me back to that moment. Karo's injury was truly unfortunate because he truly was underrated, and his throws were truly awe inspiring.
I have huge respect for Judokas man, such beautiful techniques. Specially the ones that can transmute those skills into MMA. Kari was truly interesting to watch. It’s a shame Judo is getting a bit lost in the MMA world.

I wouldn't say underrated, but underappreciated by those that didn't see him. Prior to the injuries he was beating well known names at that point. He only had 4 losses, the 1 to GSP, 1 to Diego, and 2 to Sherk outside of the UFC.
When you said 'imagine a champion fighting back to back months', I've been watching a lot of ONE recently and their Muay Thai fighters have crazy numbers in their records; could you do a video explaining why their is such a difference in the amount of fights they have compared to MMA please? I'm assuming it's not JUST the money, those Muay Thai fighters knock the shite out of each other. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Muay Thai fighters do hard training from a young age and it's a lifestyle and culture thing. They sleep, eat and live in the gym where they train. Some guys will fight every weekend if they could. Big stadium fighters will normally fight less often but it can still be as frequent as every three weeks or once a month if they stay healthy.
It is part of the culture. There are events, small-to-mid sized, going every week and fighters are expected to fight. Since they only get paid to fight there’s pretty serious incentives to step in there if you’re physically able. Add to that the pressure from gambling pundits. As your name value rises they usually fight less often, but 4-6 times a year is still common.
To add to that, I hate to say it, but PED usage is a bit more... prevalent to say the least. Someone more qualified to speak on that is Gabriel Varga, world featherweight kickboxing champion for numerous major promotions. He's made many videos discussing his experiences in Thailand, to include PED usage and testing.
I love the direction that the new videos are going in. The longer form more in depth content is going to be really important in progression the Chanel. But I also do love how these shorter form videos are mixed in. Especially when it’s an OG like Jason!
Sakuraba vs frank shamrock was a match i really wanted to see. he even appeared in the ring and called him out. I bet it would've happened if saku signed with pancrase instead of pride.( though we wouldn't have eventualy got sakuraba vs the gracies.) And had Mark Kerr beat fujita in the pride gp, we wouldve had a clash of titans with Kerr vs Coleman.
I was thinking about guys who should be in the UFC Hall of Fame and wonder if Mark Kerr is worthy of induction. He had a short run but for a brief time he was probably the scariest fighter alive. K1 World Grand Prix Winner Bronko Cikatić looked _terrified_ facing Kerr at Pride 2 and was obviously trying to get himself disqualifed as quickly as possible.
@@George18798 Not true. They knew is was very much a possibility in the Grand Prix tournament. Kerr and Coleman weren't super close, not like Coleman and Randleman were.
@@Jekyll_Island_Creatures What do you mean they weren't close? Watch "The Smashing Machine" documentary. They wouldn't have fought, either one would have just stepped aside, more likely Mark Coleman cause he at the time was on decline while Mark Kerr was undefeated (Igor Vovchanchyn fight was overturned), but after the tournament it was Mark Coleman who resurrected his career while Mark Kerr from that point had only downfall
Conor Mcgregor vs Max Holloway. when that fight happened, Mcgregor was Level 1 Plumber Mcgregor who was just getting his way out of Cage Warriors and Holloway was a new kid, he was just 20 y.o or something. they were not yet the superstars they would become years later. wish that fight happened a few years later.
I love list like this would love a part 2 if there is enough fights like this. I always find it crazy that in the Arlovski title reign i think at one point we were maybe getting Arlovski vs Cro Cop then Arlovski vs Ricco Rodriguez then eneded up with Eilers vs Arlovski.
Eddie vs Nick during that time period could’ve been one of the gnarliest fights in the history of mma. I would’ve rather continued living life not thinking that fight could’ve happened because we missed out on a spectacle with that one not coming together
Jon Jones vs Anthony Rumble Johnson UFC 187 Jon Jones vs Dan Henderson UFC 151 Junior Dos Santos vs Alistair Overeem UFC 146 Junior Dos Santos vs Brock Lesnar... UFC 131 Shogun vs Rashad Evans... UFC on Fox 19 (besides on the video mentioned of UFC 128)
Before we start : I remember the time Kamaru Usman was to fight Santiago Ponzinibio...2016? it fell through. Now the career course could bring them back against one another
Thank God Anderson took the Pride deal. He wasnt ready in 2002 and might have made a weaker impression in the UFC instead of becoming the legend that he was 4 years later
Marco Ruas vs Don Frye was announced but never came too fruition. I have a vhs with an indemand commercial for it. Igor Vovchachin vs Ken Shamrock and Igor Vovchachin vs Semmy Schilt in Pride were also announced but never happened. There is a huge thread on UG that has a list of fights that were announced that never happened.
Great video!!! Best in awhile (not meant with any disrespect). Love it when you guys do history videos! I’ve been in this since UFC 1 and I only knew about (or at least remember) 1 of these potential fights
Some others include Lyoto v Forrest before either were ever champion. Interesting to think how much that fight could have impacted 1 or both of their careers. Also Mark Coleman was apparently slated to be Brocken first opponent in the UFC not Mir. Surely would have been an easy nights work for Brock and we may never have got his legendary feud with Mir.
Yeah who remembers that one time Chuck liddell almost fought tito ortiz in 2017 with oscar de la hoya promoting it? I even saw some conceptual art on if the even took place. Crazy what these dudes are doing with AI these days...
Tito vs Randleman is a good one, would have been fun to see if Randleman's wrestling would have been enough to neutralize Tito's takedown and secure him the win and subsequently become a two division UFC champion before it was common
This used to be a great channel...now it's just pretty much an infomercial and the hosts just patting each other on the butt...oh well I can unsubscribe "click*
Is it just me or do some of these legendary fights falling out Basically resemble what boxing does now days making fighters eventually fight way past one another’s prime
Completely onrelated but this shit has been driving me crazy so at ufc 18 when pat miletich was facing jorge patino after the frist round is over and they go into overtime at 40 second in pat is on top in a sprwal position and you can clearly hear pat or someone say grab my shorts and right after jorge grabs his shorts and big john McCarthy yells at him to let go
There's a reason we forgot, they were heartbreaking when canceled. Now this video opens those wounds, pours lemon juice and salt in them, and then left us to weep 😢
i like that u say brock v fedor What! i guess im not much of a fan as i thought probs wont know any of these well i knew 2 of these bas v randy and chuck v vandy ugh
Could someone help me out on why they put the random white scratchy lines in these videos? I get it's supposed to make it look old but it just looks horrible.
