Nicely done. Reminds me of the Miwa U9 (less the false gates).

Makes sense that you needed the key to get the core out, that side-bar looks like it holds it in when the key's not in.

It’s a solid thing for sure

The D20 offered a 10lever locking mechanism from either side of the door, unlike the sc71 which could only be double locked on the outside. They were dreadful to fit, i only ever fitted a couple of them...i seem to remember we bought a job lot from Aldridge and were selling them at £10.75, which was slightly cheaper than the sc71 at that time...

They sell for about £500 now new… ouch

Nice lock. I wonder if its been used on a cell door of some sort, with what you called the inside actually being the outside.

Sounds like hotels in the US need to use those instead of cards.

What is the arrangement of the levers such that the key can be inserted one way up from one side and the other way up from the other side? Does this restrict the number of differs? I had such a lock on my door in 1957 and have wondered from then how this is done. Ingersoll locks are rare these days (and very expensive). They can be double-locked from either side and thus cannot be opened (using the handle) from the inside in this state. In the ASSA locks there can be a snib (thumb-turn) on the inside so that, in public buildings, people can easily escape. The locks were used by the American forces. Anthony Bushell

The D20 was the most unreliable lock ever!! It was made obsolete in the early 1980's

really? What was bad about it

@@LockNoob it was a high security lock, of course, with its 10 lever mechanism and 22mm hook deadlock, but it had a terrible habit of jamming and then of course you were well and truly stuck as the hookbolt was so solid! Other rim deadlocks, the Yale number one and union 1309, then 1332, had keyholes on the inside but only 3 and 2 pins respectively although 5 pins on the outside, so the Ingersoll really stood out Jack Taylor, who designed it did his best to try and rectify the problematic D20, but they gave it up in the end.
