I don't have a dog because it's not fair on them to leave them alone all day while I am at work , although I would love to have one. I have 2 cats but they are much more self-reliant.

Fun fact, my family and I had a flight delayed for 4 hours once because when they were pumping out the waste from the previous flight the hose actually exploded (right where it connects to the plane). It made a huge mess, and they considered changing our flight to another plane. In the end they cleaned it up and simply delayed the flight (because waiting on another plane would have actually taken longer). I got to talk to one of the people who had to clean it, it was as bad as you imagine but even they said its the kind of thing they'll probably look back on and laugh about.

I'd argue the "body heat through the head" one with the correct data because from a logical standpoint I think it makes sense. With the exception of the hands, the neck and head are typically the most exposed body parts. Thanks to your clothing, much less body heat is escaping from everywhere else. So if we were to determine where most of a person's body heat escapes from, on average, I'd be willing to bet that the head would be tops.

The reason the head is considered to let more heat escape is because your head holds the most temperature sensitive organ the brain. The human body will focus more blood flow to the brain to maintain its temp than any other organ. So as your body suffers from cold temperatures the blood starts to get restrict from the outer most area like fingers and toes but not the head. former baggage handler here. honestly, dumping the lavs on a plane is not that bad. you back a truck up to the dump point, put on huge gloves and a giant face shield, hook a big hose up, and then a little hose, pull a lever, and everything poors out into the lav-trucks tanks. you push a button on the truck, and it pumps blue goo back into the plane to flush the system, you close the dump lever, open the fill valve, and then pump a few more gallons of blue goo into the plane so the toilets have liquid to flush with. once you finish with that, all you do is disconnect the hoses, and close the access hatch. the only way it can be bad is if you don't hook the hoses up correctly. i had a coworker who got distracted looking down the shirt of a new girl he was supposed to be training, and did not hook up the dump hose properly. when he pulled the release valve, the hose fell off and the entire tank dumped onto the ground. the ramp was stained blue for weeks.

I'd probably argue that the "you lose 45% of your body heat through your head" is regarding when you're wearing clothes. I.e. the amount of body heat you lose through an un-covered head is 45% of the total body heat you lose WHILE WEARING CLOTHES. Sure, it only takes up 10% of the surface area so it would only RADIATE 10% of the heat, but clothes create insulation so the rest of the body loses much less heat per square inch. Of course, I haven't done a single study on it, nor have I read anything on it, so I could be wrong, but that's my thinking.
