Not true, people WAY over-state Maynard's involvement with the band. Maynard played a VERY minor role on a couple songs of theirs in the 90s, but they had been going since the '81. He was only doing some brief and sparse appearances and definitely was NOT a member of their original lineup or even a full-fledged member of the band by any means.

Fastball are a really interesting case. They had one top 20 hit in the US. It was "Out of My Head". "The Way" didn't even make the Hot 100. Another victim of the airplay vs. record sales dichotomy of the late 90's.

Was gonna say Fastball in no way was 1 hit with "The Way". "Outta My Head" maybe. I liked "Fire Escape" as well, that song is the 90's in that first riff 100%. You hear that opening guitar and instantly know it was 1990's.

They aren’t technically touted as a one hit wonder, due to being highly successful in their home country of Australia, but “I Touch Myself” by Divinyls charted highly in the Billboard charts at #4 in 1991 despite the band doing a number of gigs in the United States in the eighties as well as making an appearance at the 1983 US Festival. Despite having a huge number of hits in Australia in the eighties such as “Boys in Town,” “Science Fiction,” “Pleasure and Pain,” “Back to the Wall” and my favourite “Sleeping Beauty.” “I Touch Myself” was their only huge hit in the United States even gaining controversy with its release in 1991 with various radio stations refusing to play the track due to it being a Frank reference to female masturbation. In 2014, the song became a breast cancer awareness anthem, a year after the death of Divinyls vocalist Christina “Chrissy” Amphlett at age 57 after a three year battle with breast cancer, mind you she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis since the late nineties. The song had been sung by various female figures in Breast Cancer Awareness PSA’s such as Serena Williams.

Between these two lists I think that this was the better one. I surely would have included all the entries here and would have found room on the first list for The Wallflowers “One Headlight” and Lisa Loeb “Stay”. Having spent my pre-teen and teenage years in the 90’s those were two big songs that I think were missed.

I'm still obsessed with "Right Here, Right Now". It features heavily on my Spotify playlist of my favorite 90s tracks. It's 4 hours long lol. Maybe this song in particular is because I have such vivid memories of myself when I was 12, listening to this song. So the nostalgia is strong. But it's very memorable in its own right too.

Right Here Right Now was as ubiquitous as a song can be that year and even kind of stuck around for quite a few. I was sold, I had the cassette. I liked the more “industrial” songs like Stripped and 2 and 2. At the time the had a follow up with Real Real Real that had a little bit of traction but from today’s perspective, they definitely qualify as one hit status here in the states.

I love videos like this,as it offers a slightly different perspective on some bands that were'nt one hit wonders elsewhere. The Verve were massive in Europe and the UK throughout the late 90s. Already doing well in the indie circuit in the mid 90s, that "Urban Hyms" album yielded other massive songs elsewhere. They had a more introspective, broodier take on Britpop but had that Oasis swagger in tracks aswell. Interesting that following Bittersweet Sympathy, they did'nt continue the success in the US. On the other hand, most of the US, Canadian bands seen here barley made a dent across the Atlantic. Crash test Dummies and Deep Blue Something yes briefly, but Seven Mary 3 and Spagehog , not so much at all. Great video. 😃👍
