You can improve on the first tip even more, you had it set up so both trains do the U turn when full, it’s better practice to have the trains do the turn when empty

Monrail trains are so underrated in my opinion, its good for seperate networks because converting is a massive pain in the tail feathers another tip: the more locos you have the faster the train accelerates, very useful on maglev tracks as they can take awhile to get up to speed oh no, triangle math

A tip for upgrading to monorail/maglev is to use the PURR Universal Rainbow Rails GRF. Those tracks are more expensive, (in some cases even more expensive than maglev), but by the time you're ready to upgrade money shouldn't be a problem. So when it comes time to convert some regular/electric rail to monorail or maglev, convert the track to one of the PURR tracks and then replace trains. One they've all converted, convert the PURR rails to which ever one you were moving to. Technically you could probably just leave them as the PURR tracks but I've never done that.

Of course there is the option to mod the game to get around challenges. But certainly in the vanilla game it is quite an upgrade to behold

Saw another great features: Stations Drag&Drop.Ths allows the player to drag live stations ! Except choosing a direction, good or passenger you can drag stations without choosing platform width or length ? Great feature to squeeze another station in without the complete town reputation burden !

1:20 Why not just build a bigger station with more tracks? 4:30 For passenger trains, I set the signals extra far apart so that the trains don't arrive at the station so close together. The first train makes millions and the second train only a few thousand... 7:30 I play a GRF where the wagons have a speed limit (the best freight wagons are 120-140 km/h depending on the type). It's crazy to convert to monorails or maglev trains, as the maintenance costs are much higher there and the trains will then slide into the red. 8:15 How do you balance different production rates? If one mine only produces 90 tons and the second 180 tons, then the trains wait far too long and the rating will be poor.

For the last one: change some or all of your trains to not wait for a full load at the industry with lower production.

#1 once things are rolling, you're going to want to have a lot of trains ready to pick up everything that's being produced and they'll block the drop off. If you really wanted one big station, you could split the entrance into 2 and then use way points so the drop off goes to one side and the pickup to the other. But you can still end up with trains lined up blocking the in line and so at that point you need to use overflows on the pickup section. #2. No idea why you're doing that unless you're not having them wait for a full load. #4. You can do what the other person said. You can also have 2 sets of trains for the same line. One set will have full load orders and the other just pickup cargo for the same station. Another option is to use a self regulated network where the trains don't have any orders and you have loader/transfer trains as well. Last option is to use JGRPP version of OpenTTD which has a ton of other features like station "slots", counters and more conditional orders which allows you to have trains bypass a station if there's others sitting there filling up the "slots" while loading.

In real life the diagonal of a square 1x1 is a square root of 2, which is approx. 1.4. I have an impression that in OpenTTD, it is 2, but have never tested it. Could you do that @MasterHellish? Remember to cut the age of the square to prevent the train from slowing down.

After many years of playing, even with advanced industries like FISH, the very first tip never struck me... I always solved it with waypoints and dedicated platforms, but that one makes a hell of a lot more sense to me to make 2 separate stations that aren't linked to solve it.

Hi, love the video man. But do you have tutorial about lane expansion? Like from 2 lane to 4,6,8 lane expansion. How to balance the traffic between lane? How to cross the junction. Thanks...

I don't have a dedicated tutorial for this at the moment, but as a general rule you don't want them to cross over. When you've got depots you still want to try and keep them off the main line. And you balance them just by letting the trains go down one track or the other to begin with. They'll choose which one's busy or not when they choose which line to go on.

For Bidirectionial opportunities: Is the profit for going a long distance traveled typically better than quick routes? Wouldnt it make more sense to route the coal to the nearest power station? Or is it worth the investment in time and track?

No because the payment is calculated based on a number of factors including how long it takes to go over a period of so many squares so doing quicker shorter track is not actually more profitable you're better off usually going longer journeys.

The last tip isn't quite right as while the speed indicator remains constant for the diagonal track the actual game time taken isn't the full 41% faster because of the change in animation.

I disagree with the monorail tip. If you're playing on sub arctic or sub tropical you never get the option for electric railway, and the diesel trains drop reliability significantly by the time maglev comes around.

It depends on the train and how much power it has Early game with weak engines you need shorter trains. Late game with more powerful engines you can have longer trains (although if you want them to get up to speed fast you might want to double head them with two locomotives) Start off with locomotive + 4 wagons, then expand it later on

Regarding not placing signals right after an intersection and leaving a gap: Is there any up-or downside of that tactic vs. just putting a chain signal in front of the intersection?

This is mostly because path signals are the default now and can be used for all beginner and intermediate things with no need for other singles
