No. 9 Gerry L., I feel bad for, she just went off trail to relieve herself and got lost. She attempted to contact her husband and kept a journal. Survived 18 days at least, on her own, lost and was found dead in her tent of dehydration and succumbed to conditions. I can feel her emotions it seems, the desperation, fear, and hopeless thought of not being found. Not to sound grim, that's just what I felt reading her story. I'm a solo hiker who enjoys night hikes and after hearing these stories, I admit when I hike at night, certain areas really creep me out and I'm always armed. One night, I got out of my car, got ready and walked two steps into the pitch black woods before having a terrifying feeling and immediately left. The whole time I felt like something was watching me and that I was going to see something I didn't want to see. Even in my car I had the feeling I better get outta here, and I gunned it out of there, scared to even look in my rear view mirror.

Another thing about these missing people on National Forests is a lot of the time the missing person was wearing brightly colored clothing and often dogs will refuse to track the missing. The little boy, Dennis, (can't remember if he was in this video or part one), when he went missing a couple a few miles away reported seeing a "bear" on two legs running through the woods with what looked to be a small child under one arm. When they reported this, the authorities just blew it off.

I think the best clues to what's happening can be found in survivor accounts. They may be few, but nobody is talking about what survivors have said, almost as if their stories don't even count. I would like to know what these few people have to say.

Ever since I first heard about the investigator David Paulides, I've been reluctant to visit a national park. Such a shame too because I love camping, hiking, fishing, etc. I know disappearing is highly unlikely, but not impossible

UPDATE: It has been brought to my attention that missing hiker Geraldine Largay was found dead in Oct. 2015 at a campsite she set up after getting lost. Authorities found a journal detailing her final days. We now have the truth and now the husband and family can have some closure. Thanks to everyone who contacted me about this unfortunate discovery.

Deorr's disappearance sounds highly suspicious. The parents left him him with the great grandfather and a friend but the great grandfather thought he was with them, did the parents know the friend well? It sounds like they've just concocted this story.
@sarahlind24
@sarahlind24 8 лет назад
I live under an hour away where Deorr went missing. The investigator has declared it a homocide, but the parents have not yet been charged. Their stories have changed too many times to count. I've been following this story every single day, and most of us here in Idaho strongly believe the parents, specifically the mother, did this. Whether it was accidental or not is still a mystery, the mother has already admitted that she knows where Deorr's body is, but she is extremely uncooperative.

Jeffrey Johnson I vaguely recall someone talking to me about the Native Americans. How they often laughed at the idea of selling land to the white man because they truly believed the land actually belonged to the great spirits. So to their view, the white man only thought they owned the land. It would be interesting to learn about their beliefs.

We have always camped at the various State Parks here in Maine. Now I take pause at the thought of doing so again. All of these strange disappearances are truly creepy. Even when a body is found, they seem to be found under weird, unexplainable conditions. There is something unnatural about these disappearances that count for mopre than just hikers getting lost in the wilderness. I am really creeped out by this.

I will never turn my back on my children! I have always felt creepy when venturing out in these places..there is so much land out there. Anything could be out there. And its protected land. So what ever is preying on people and innocent children and babies is untouched and unharmed because these lands will always be protected.

I have been in the areas in Yosemite and the sierras in California, and I do not think any animals are responsible. I have a strong feeling that people are responsible. I have camped where bears are supposed to frequent, and not seen any. I have come across very strange people on the trail, and luckily I have had my knife out (craving wood) or on my hip where it can be seen. I'm pretty sure that it has to be people. Bigfoot aliens demons, sounds to illogical. People are real and there are real life psychos out there.

Western U.S. and Canada, North America and Beyond, Missing 411; The Devil's In The Details, and Missing 411; A Sobering Coincidence(which I think is about urban disappearances). I've heard not to but them on Amazon because they are too expensive there, but instead to go to Davids website. Skeptics should not be so quick to dismiss all these cases as being "natural causes" or "getting lost". I think it's quite reasonable at this point that we need to start thinking outside the box with some theories.
@TheKoss11
@TheKoss11 8 лет назад
I love backpacking and hiking, and I want to feel safe when I do. I strongly believe that a group of people are responsible for all the people missing in the national parks.
@shaleemichelle
@shaleemichelle 8 лет назад
Precisely; I'd like to think that I'm a skeptic and a logical, reasonable person. But there are some things that just don't seem to have a logical explanation (like certain aspects of the paranormal or unknown, which possibly connect to bizarre disappearances such as these). It's always a weird feeling swallowing your pride and admitting that there's no known rational explanation for certain phenomena, but then again, we'd never progress and find answers if we didn't keep an open mind and consider other possibilities.
@TheKoss11
@TheKoss11 8 лет назад
+Shalee Michelle I went there today, and I tried to be very observant of everything going on. There were so many people there that I think it is very easy for people to disappear for whatever reason when no one is paying attention.
@shaleemichelle
@shaleemichelle 8 лет назад
TheKoss11 I agree; But I genuinely feel as if really depends on the circumstances of the individual case. But I'd say that, on average, search and rescue teams are pretty good at finding missing people (in which no foul play is involved). Nine times out of ten, the person should be found. When you look at other odd commonalities in these cases (such as the ones mentioned in this video), it becomes quite glaring and difficult to ignore. I think that the majority of these cases likely have some cause which is beyond our comprehension - Otherwise, I feel like we'd have some logical, scientific answers by now.

Charges should've been brought against the 2 year old's family. Disgusting. They are responsible for his death because a 2 year old should never be out of your sight.
@TheKoss11
@TheKoss11 8 лет назад
I believe a group of people are responsible for all the disappearances at the national parks. It's the only logical explanation. Plus the reason people are missing their shoes and boots is to immobilize them. I am not sure of the motive, but it is the only thing that makes sense.

It's not as strange as it might seem. These parks are huge, with terrain and weather conditions that can change very quickly. People overestimate their abilities, make mistakes, challenge themselves to do something new or whatever. A sprained ankle can be fatal when you're six hours out from the trailhead with no overnight supplies and a storm system moving in. A simple wrong turn can lead you into a weeklong hike through absolute nothingness. I love the outdoors but you really need to accept the risks of going off the grid.

The wilderness is very dangerous place. Even for the experienced. You can just simply become disorientated, and wander for miles, before you succumb to the elements. Once you are dead, nature will get rid of your body in no time flat. There are also large predators, in most National parks that no unarmed human is a match for.

Is it possible that either convicted kidnappers Kenneth Parnell (age in 50's in 1981) or convicted killer/kidnapper Cary Stayner (age 19 or 20 in 1981) could have abducted Stacy Anne Arras in 1981? Both know lived/worked near or around the Yosemite area.

Hi let me first say I'm not from the USA I am from the uk. I've watched a lot of these and find it strange very strange although we do have massive parks etc in some parts of the U.K. We don't have a lot of people going missing in them anyway as from what I watched and read on here if your lost surely you would shout or use a whistle or at least some kind of signal device I'm a avid outdoorsman and never go anywhere without a whistle I've also told my kids to stand still and start shouting if they ever lose sight from what I've read here and seen it appears this hasn't happened so that would tell me that maybe a very experienced outdoor person is actually grabbing these people hand round mouth or immobilising them some other way I just find it hard to believe aliens etc

@deathstrike

As a mountain dweller (Lincoln National Forest) I can tell you where some may have disappeared to. Mountain terrain is very deceptive on the ground due to detritus and thistles covering the bulk of the forest. Often people don't know what dangers lurk under some of those branches and one of the most dangerous is sinkholes. There are old mine shafts and often holes covered by debris that hides them from the naked eye. Hikers can and do fall into these holes where they are often very deep and are not mapped. They fall in, they cannot be heard by those searching for them and often die from either injuries, or exposure and mountain rains and snows hide trails.

There are ways of hiding the smell of a dead body and if you off grid living in the wilderness for an extended time you learn how to move about undetected. Gerry Largay's remains were recovered this year by a surveyor about 1/2 mile off the AT trail. Earlier search teams came within 100 yards of her remains. Most likely died of exposure. Even though she was experienced as a hiker she never explored the northern portion of the AT and a fellow hiker who had accompanied Largay for the first 3/4 of the hike said she had a tendency to go off trail.

update...her body was found 2 miles from the AT just off of an old logging road that actually intersects the AT twice. Her body was found in her sleeping bag in her tent. That was the reason her scent wasn't detected by search dogs. The shame of it is she survived some time after being lost before succumbing from lack of water/food. Her body was found in an area where military special operations training is conducted..this of course lit the fire under conspiracy theorists. There are some unanswered questions as to why this area was missed when the logging road was clearly on the map and why the rangers who conducted the search never mentioned the training site.

I believe most are abducted. It would be easier than most believe to abduct a strong young man. I live in Turrell Arkansas. Memphis Tennessee and Tunica Mississippi had many cases of young men ages 18-27 go missing, all they ever found were the men's vehicles down gravel or dirt roads. I TOLD MY SONS DONT HELP ANYONE, BECAUSE A WOMAN IS INVOLVED IN IT!!! I told them make a 911call while you are still rolling. Damsels in distress can be lethal when some one else is involved. Always carry a stun gun and know some form of hand to hand combat!!!!!

@switzerlandful
@switzerlandful 8 лет назад
+Roxee D Ya, they probably have to consider that at some point. But I think in most of these , suicide is usually eliminated as a cause. There were a few cases where scent trails, which were picked up by canine units came to an abrupt end for no reason. They weren't in streams either. In one case, a little kid had been found much farther away than he could have ever traveled on foot in the amount of time he was gone. There was another where the day the victim's was missing, snow accumulation was enormous. Later his body was found much farther than he could have ever traveled on skis or on foot. It isn't just random people who are baffled by this. If you watch some of David Paulides videos he explains that even other professional search/rescue teams are VERY puzzled by this. & they are usually the ones who would be able to explain puzzling circumstances.

They vanish into another dimension and some do return, but most don't. This dimension is not stationary and is constantly on the move. I say this because I have witnessed it first hand. Your video was very touching sad and strange all at the same time. There is of course the possibility that amongst the hundreds of people that have gone missing over the years within the national parks that some committed suicide and that some planned to go missing. But from other videos I've watched that leaves an alwful lot unexplained and when it comes to younge children then suicide or planning to go missing has to be discounted. I also find the explanation of suicide questionable as many of these people were with friend or family at the time walking a trail and were lost from sight for only a couple of minutes. In other videos I've watched some not many of the missing have been found alive but with little or no idea where they've been, some have been found dead sometimes miles from where they were last seen and not just a couple of miles either. There will be some of the missing that just got lost and in such vastness and with animals and weather bodys won't be found. But even after you use such explanation to account for the number of missing people, it still leaves a number of the missing that cannot be explained. I also find it incredibly strange that in a couple of the other videos I've seen that no official organisations like the National Parks,Police, FBI etc etc are keeping an database on the number's of missing, Why?? If these people went missing from a town or city they would be on a database then, wouldn't they and I was under the impression that when it was a child that went missing then the FBI I thought were always on the case, I'm from the UK so my knowledge of American Law is only what I've learnt from films and documentaries, about such things. I hope that some day an answer will be found than enables those left behind will be able to rest, for the not knowing must be like a living hell.

Honestly - The National Park area is so vast and there are so many hazards that it is not surprising that people disappear - People could literally walk at a fast pace and walk off a cliff without even knowing it - You have to pay attention and tread lightly at all times. Look at the size of the National Park System and The size of New York City and I think you'll find that NYC has more disappearances - There's nothing unusual going on here...
@beckyholt
@beckyholt 8 лет назад
Not as strange or as rare as you might think. The disappeared fall into roughly 3 groups: The very young and old, attractive young females and young males. The first group could have had a myriad of problems from sudden health events, strokes, heart attacks and accidents involving broken bones or head injury. Others among them could simply have been the subject of predation. In the past I have read reports of small women 5 feet tall having mountain lions stalk them and in one case actually taking down and dragging off a woman of sillier stature. The two year old boy could easily have been taken by either animal or human predators. I am familiar with one case you mentioned of the elderly man that was hiking Mt. Shasta with his friends but what was not mentioned was that he was suffering from ill health inn that day and had server diarrhea. As to the elderly females, some women even apparently fit ones are subject to sudden onset of strokes and embolisms. This brings us to the attractive young females, these could also be the result of animal or human predation, or simply as with the woman who was at the rear of the group of friends simply got lost in the darkness or half light. All the trees look the same if you stumble off the beaten track by accident and even more so in the dark. No account is given to the very serious risk of falling tree limbs in these wooded areas. I have some jungle training and I can tell you that you have to be extremely careful where you set up your hammock in the woods because of the large number of deaths and injury from rotten trees and falling limbs. The last group are the easiest to explain, young males are by their nature risk takers and sometimes your luck runs out. In the case of the photographer although you mentioned he was in the park in winter you failed to mention that it was an extraordinary winter with snow drifts 20 feet high and that he was found in a 16 foot drift. In those circumstances any injury or securing to the environment and you can die very easily indeed. The other two could simply be accidental deaths caused by interacting with their environment and becoming injured or killed. What those who live their lives in cities and towns do not understand is that being ignorant of the environment in the parks can get you killed. Small injuries or illnesses can become life threatening unless you act quickly and know what you are doing. The first mistake most of these people made was to go alone into the wilderness with rare exceptions of course. They failed to wear trackable equipment that would show their location if they were injured or killed. They may have gone knowing they were already ill and become worse once on the trails. One or two may be suicides. They may as with the women tried to travel in unfamiliar trails in the dark massively increasing the risks. Having taken many factors into account there really isn't any mystery here, even the fact hat their bodies are missing is easily explainable to those who know that the remains are of often moved by animals and weather, heat and moisture can ensure that a body disappears quickly when left int eh elements. In short there would be nothing to find add to this that the parks are enormous and the terrain vast and varied. The last one is that no one wants to believe that the rangers are incompetent or unequipped for the task or that the sheer scale is too great to ensure happy outcomes for the families or missing people. I think the honest explanation for what you have described here is somewhere between your explanation and mine, but will we ever know the truth? Lastly, never wear red in the woods. Thank you for sharing.

I don't think these events can be attributed to just one phenomenon. I believe it's a combination of things. I think some have merely got lost, some are kidnapped, and others are abducted by something of high intelligence. However, I do think that people in high positions DO know what's going on, but because of greed will not enlighten the public.

+Stacy Elam I tend to think that also, whatever is doing this is completely silent and does not let the victims scream or alert in anyway.Ones that disappear with other people around,and the children,they remain silent when taken.It has to be something that can use infra sound or shock and disable humans to take them,because there would be a whole lot of screaming going on..So scary and wicked whatever this is.Is it something from above taking them ,or below?Dogs cannot track the scent.

Carri Alsbrooks I do not know. (It makes you want to suggest some crazy fringe idea) But this phenomena of people vanishing within so close of proximity to their friends with little to no trace and sometimes not being found again alive or not at all, apparently has not just happened to little toddler children. Healthy athletic young men & women too. AND in one case I heard it was an elderly man. SOmeone like 60 or 70. So its just weird. (i heard of one case of a father just vanishing behind his wife and son somewhere in one of the western desert states) So... it just doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to me.

1.618 Tony yes,I know, so, you tell me why no one screams or zero sound from abduction scenario's in such close proximity to others. Not only that but many children disappear from their yards with adults watching and turn their heads briefly, again, no sounds of struggle,no screams.

+Michael Knight : Jessica Mitchell (Deorr Jr's mom) had two older children who were taken from her for neglect and abuse. You can read about it on websleuths. The Sheriff (Bowerman) has stated along with the other PI that both Jessica and Deorr Sr. know "absolutely" where Deorr Jr's body is. Dna in the form of either blood or brain tissue was found on the great grandpa's shovel. The g-grandpa is not that feeble, either, he was fit enough to drive an extended cab pickup truck pulling a camper, plus he has refused polygraphs and Trina Clegg Bates (Deorr Jr's maternal grandma) said they are covering for the old man.

He's written a few Missing 411 books (I just reserved them from our library...can't wait!) and has maps of where people have gone missing. The biggest cluster is in the Northeast, including PA.

What do I think? I think most of them fall, get lost, and die of exposure/thirst/hunger/injuries. I think their remains are usually eaten and scattered by wildlife, which is a rational and reasonable explanation for why so many are never found. I think that in a very small percentage of cases - particularly in those of children and young women who disappeared while in the company of adult men - murders occurred. Yes, these cases are "mysterious" in that we can't know with 100% certainty what happened to all these individuals. But we do have a good idea what LIKELY happened to most of them. And as I mentioned, killers are probably taking advantage of the undeveloped environment to more easily cover their crimes. You skirt the subject (maybe), but I am glad you don't opine about about aliens (the outer space kind) and satanic cults, etc. It must be so tempting in the Internet/RU-vid era, when people really seem to be drawn to conspiracies and ever-more bizarro theories.

1. Never go hiking or into the wilderness alone. 2. Experienced does not equal impervious. 3. National parks are full of "off-griders" and pot fields where strangers are unwelcome. 4. Trails are the perfect place for serial killers to find victims. Nothing strange or mysterious, just the wrong place at the wrong time.

Alien abduction, plain and simple. Animals are mutilated, too, in these areas. We can only hope the aliens don't do to these people what they do to the mutilated animals, who do appear to have had their body parts removed while the animals were still alive. Unfortunately, there are a few cases where it appears that this sort of thing is done to human as well.
