What are the most hated towns in the United Kingdom? Many towns in the United Kingdom are more developed with basic amenities than many places described as cities in some other countries. Thus, every town in the UK deserves some love. Still, the insatiable nature of man always craves more, even under the most convenient condition. Hence, some the UK towns are hated. We shall be unraveling here the 10 most hated towns in the UK.
Regardless of the passion or intensity of the frustration, the hatred shouldn’t be transferred to the persons living in those towns. It should be limited to the conditions making such towns unlivable and infuriating so that the concerned authorities can be called to order. Here are those 10 most hated towns in the UK.
10. Llangefni, Wales
We start our discussion of the most hated in the UK in Wales. Our first point of call is the Welsh town of Llangefni, the county town of Anglesey which also contains the principal offices of the Isle of Anglesey County Council. Llangefni is located near the center of Anglesey. It’s also on the River Cefni, from which it derives its name.
This county town and the second largest on the island is hated because it has only one thing going well for it, namely playing host to local government, enterprise, and industry. Social life and sports are not doing well in the town. And anytime it features in the news, it’s mostly for the wrong reasons.
9. Slough, England
Our entry to England to find most hated towns in the United Kingdom lands us in Slough. This town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire, is our next point of call.
Its vantage location notwithstanding, Slough is one of the 10 most hated towns, not only in England but also in the entire UK. According to visitors, it’s a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets and empty beer cans. No single resident has ever contradicted this assertion. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can without paying for it.
8. Didcot, England
The next town on our list is Didcot, a railway town which is also a civil parish in the ceremonial county of Oxfordshire. Also in the historic county of Berkshire, Didcot is 15 miles south of Oxford and 10 miles east of Wantage. The town noted for its railway heritage is just 15 miles northwest of Reading, with its station opening as a junction on the Great Western Main Line back in 1844.
The town of Didcot has been described many times as the most aggressive town not only in England but also in the United Kingdom. Regardless of whatever any dissenter found about this town, it will boil down to the same thing-it's a hated town in the UK. Traveling through the station for which it’s known today will put you in confrontation with touts and gangs jumping onto passing trains.
7. Stevenage, England
Stevenage is another one of the most hated towns in the United Kingdom. It’s a large town which many won’t take any offense if it’s referred to as a city. It’s a borough in Hertfordshire, 29 miles north of London. It is east of junctions 7 and 8 of the A1(M). It is located between Letchworth Garden City and Welwyn Garden City to the north and south respectively.
Even at that, those in England hate this town because it’s far cry from what other towns in England have to offer. According to residents, greeting others with eye contact can be considered offensive in this town. Besides, there are a lot of fake brand names in Stevenage this town. A higher rate of pilferage is being reported in this town, even at the instance of the parents.

I really don't know how seriously I can take this. We start with somewhere in Wales no one has ever heard of, but we're expected to believe it's one of the 10 most hated in the UK? "It's hated because it's hated" seems to be the criteria used for most of them.

@@susancraybould3919 Isuggest that you read what Mr Tupolev said, again. He stated " we start with somewhere in Wales no one has ever heard of ". If you watch it again, you will see that he is referring to Llangefni - not Rhyl ( spelt ' Rhyl' , not 'Ryle' ). So my advise to you, before you tell others to " listen in their geography lesson " is : 1. listen properly to the information being imparted. 2. Learn how to spell : the town to which you refer is spelt 'Rhyl', not ' Ryle'. 3. Realise that you are not that smart, go back to school yourself and learn some humility.

Slough is a weird one. It's not a sh-thole per se and it's very conveniently located for London, but it just _feels_ bleak, sad, depressing etc. I didn't believe or appreciate it until I had to go there on a work commitment - even the automated announcement on the train from London dropped an octave and sounded depressed when it mentioned Slough. It doesn't help that large parts of West London aren't very nice either, so all you see from the train is various crappy places.

Having lived in Didcot for 25 years, including commuting by rail, I don't recognise "aggressive", or " touts and gangs". It's certainly not pretty, just an average town, it's not hated, but I don't suppose that any of the others are either.

I was born and brought up in Luton, from ‘54. It was and still absolutely awful. In recent years I drew a close 2nd worst, when I had to stay in Walsall for a few years. It is completely cultureless. Beer guts, tattoos and filthy litter are rank throughout the area. There is a very interesting art gallery in the town, but it is like giving strawberries to donkeys.

If you ignore the endless brexit truck jams and some of the grottier housing estates, Dover's alright, there's plenty of nice things to see and do in the town (one of the best historic castles in the UK, for example); some nice parks (like Kearsney Abbey and the lakes) it's got a safe swimming beach, it's got amazing clifftop walks with great views over to France and even a reasonable selection of shops in the town centre and excellent public transport links. There are a lot worse places in Britain than Dover, believe me!

Even more ridiculous than the "Most Loved Towns" list, which included such tedious places as Wilmslow and Altrincham. I wouldn't argue with such "usual suspects" as Luton and Rhyl, and I don't know Gravesend, but I don't recognise Llangefni, Didcot or Aylesbury from the descriptions. Paisley is effectively a Glasgow suburb, so looks to that city for things to do. Llangefni only has 5000 people, for chrissake, so it's not going to have buzzing nightlife. Didcot is looked down on by the snobs in the rest of Oxon and Berks because it's working class, but I've waited ages at the station and not been approached by muggers, beggars or the like. Aylesbury is quite historic. These towns may be a bit dull, but I'd rather live in any of them rather than the endless suburban tedium of Wilmslow or Altrincham.
@jamesmorris3123

Gravesend has always been a dismal area for many years. It's name was derived from the Great Plague where thousands of the dead were buried there from London, hence Graves end. Also Princess Pocahontas is buried there. And how come Croydon wasn't included, that town tops my list as dodgy, full of immigrants, and remember that African who burnt down that very old furniture shop? why did he do that?
@frglee
@frglee 2 года назад
I'd take all these places being 'the worst' with a large pinch of salt. I remember back in the 90s, Hythe, a small, rather pretty and inoffensive little town in Kent getting the 'worst place to live in Britain' sobriquet after a public survey. Probably the exact opposite is nearer the truth. I suspect local schoolkids had voted en masse to disrupt the survey!

I live near Luton and certain parts of it are a dump.I know a police officer who won't allow his teenage daughters to visit the Arndale Centre,even if he accompanies them.( remember Rochdale,Rotherham and so on) We first moved here in 1979 when the shopping centre was mostly used by smartly dressed, polite,well behaved people.Unfortunately 40 years of unchecked immigration has meant the more ambitious all moved out in disgust. The result is a mess of different people and most of them don't make an attempt at integrating into our ways.Parts of it are nice,but suffer from being close to the flight path of Luton Airport.

Disappointed with your selection, there are other towns that you could include in the ten. Maybe increase it to 20 or 25 for a better coverage of the UK. I've made comments before with other videos, but you never engage in even acknowledge or reply.

I forgot his bloody name and all the snide remarks he made about Hull.The centre of Hull has approved tremendously.Museums The Deep is very populair.People are helpful and genuine.I grew up in Rotterdam in the Netherlands.Vey modern town but I can show you areas that you better stay away from.So stop this nonsense about towns mixed with the locals and you be fine.

Who exactly is the "We" in this study, the uploader and his mother? What study and its criteria was used for rating these "hated" towns. I hardly think Llangefni rates as "no. 10 in the most hated towns in the UK." Admittedly it's an unremarkable town, but its located in lovely countryside, the delightful Red Wharf bay is within walking distance, it has its own nature reserve, crime is low and its quiet. Nearly everyone who lives on Anglesey would rate Holyhead as the worst town on that island. Admittedly Rhyl is a dive, but hardly No. 3 in the UK. Why are dives like Strood, Whitstable, Cleveland, Hull, Blackpool, Jaywick, Burnley, Blackburn, Bradford, Grimsby, Lowestoft, Barrow-In-Furness, ... on this list? The highest level of crime I personally experienced, plus friends of mine, was when I lived in Yeovil.

So, the first one, number 10 on the list..... Is hated because it is the center for local government for Anglesey!!? Really? you might as well say it is hated because of the way the name is spelt! or some other daft reason. Joke of a site, the reasons given for any of these so called hated towns could apply to ANY town in the UK.

I lived in Ipswich for nine years. It feels like Monte Carlo compared to some of the absolute dregs on this list - and I have been to half of these places. The main problem with Ipswich is that it does occasionally get dull and a bit repetitive, the town centre needs better shops, and more interesting places can be an expensive ballache to get to. But it's certainly not a bad town at all. Good people who try very hard and there's plenty happening if you know where to look. I'd say it got better during the time I lived there. Thetford, King's Lynn, Haverhill, Great Yarmouth - those are shiteholes. And while not a complete dump, Chelmsford is sterile (feels like it grew up too fast?) and less interesting than black-and-white slides of paint drying.

In English, we start our sentences with a capital letter. We also use punctuation, such as commas to indicate a pause or emphasis. And it would be non-white, not non white. Lastly, the word “most” doesn’t really fit where you’ve used it. You should have written “The more non-white, the more they are hated by me.” But as with most racists (intersecting interestingly with self professed patriots), your grasp of your native language is so poor: it’s embarrassing.
