Even after the breakups only 3 of them went right back into a tag team with someone else these decisions is what somewhat killed the tag division which is why there aren't that many tag teams these day's
They split up the IIconics so that....... Peyton can be in a tag team with Lacey Evans. And Billie Kay went in a tag team with Carmella. Come on brooooo
The tag team division is at its lowest point ever, I've never seen such a poor tagteam division in any company at any time!!! I used to love the tag teams when I was a kid, when there were teams like Demolition, The Rockers, Hart Foundation, Legion Of Doom, etc!!!!
The IIconics one still gets me. They split them up and everyone said it was to push Peyton, but Billie had more promos and matches than Peyton then you fire them after like 2 months. Made zero sense.
Vince: The Iconics are talented, sexy, and popular. We should split them up. Everyone: Sounds odd, Vince, what's the upside? Can't wait to hear what you have in mind! Vince: Upside? I am senile and insane and do things totally at random.
@@p0ck3tp3ar no problem, I needs a laugh. But you do have a point, why does Vince do things that only piss people off? Overpushing Roman, pushing Brie Bella into the shadows and making pointless rivalries such as Nikki and Brie at 2014. It really is a question of Vince being too old to be chairman of WWE. Don't you agree?
I agree, he is too old. With age comes closemindedness and stubbornness. It becomes harder to accept new ideas and try new things, he is stuck in the past.
Rusev Day is a honourable mention. They were the most over tag team in WWE in the last 5 years. How the creative didn't capitalize on them is beyond me. They also had a pretty pointless split on that "One Night In Milwaukee" thing.
they are "the creative" only in name. they didn't have a single good idea, that wasn't already established before, in the past couple of years. all good things came from the wrestlers themselves.
“most over team in the past 5 years” idk if you’re ignoring them because they’re a stable or if you’re discounting how huge they were, but New Day was megahuge during their peak.
I think the break up of Y2AJ turned out pretty good for both AJ Styles and Chris Jericho because AJ Styles became a main eventer and won the WWE Championship and Chris Jericho had one of the best and one of the funniest runs of his career with Kevin Owens.
@@arvindshastry1178 I know but just the idea of having that be a best friends tagteam that had comedy skits and would win the gold looks so interesting to me. What if they won the tag titles then lost at Mania. The two of them start losing confidence in each other as a team then break up. They both go their seperate ways (AJ as the WWE Champion and Jericho being KO's best friend) and then in the build to Survivor Series they act out of spite at one another like bitter exes. AJ continues his reign as champ then Jericho wins the Rumble and we have a best friend/bitter rival feud for the next Mania.
It never ceases to amaze me how Cryme Tyme never won the tag titles despite the fact that there were like only 3 tag teams on Raw and if I'm not mistaken they were the only face team. Then not only did they break them up, they just had them both start teaming up with other black people with no purpose or direction.
Billie Kay and Peyton Royce wouldn’t have been fired if WWE kept them together like anyone else with a brain would have done. Terrible decision that shows how WWE cannibalizes it’s own future and how only the talent suffers for it.
Gutted for Jordan. I hope his neck heals and he can make a comeback. He had good outings with cena, reigns and was a good ring wrestler plus he was getting good heat.
And soon to come probably will be the USOS, New Day, Nia Jax & Shayna, the Dirty Dogs and if they're willing to piss off the fans even more the Mysterios. Also I'm only assuming as a honorable mention the Hurt Business cause there was no need to break up a awesome team like that as well!
Personally, I never liked the Hurt Business but they seemed to be popular so I don't understand the logic in splitting them up. Nia Jax and Shayna Bazler just started teaming up for no reason one day and they just don't seem like a believable tag team and more like 2 single stars put together just to have something to do.
It seems that WWE think that as soon as a tagteam shows any potential, then that's the right time to split them up, and shove each wrestler to the bottom of the card, or put them with other partners that don't gel with them!! I don't know if Vince thinks that because it worked with Shawn Michael's and the Rockers, that it will work with every team, or if he genuinely wants to destroy the tagteam division for ever!! The tag division is in the worst state that I've ever seen, and I mean at any time and the worst that I've seen in any company!!
I don't think WWE saw anything in a Liv and Sarah team when Ruby was out with an injury. I think money duo is Ruby and Liv they fit so well together and Liv adapting Ruby's Punk Rock style fits her like a glove. Even as a trio i felt Sarah seem out of place even tho she knew Ruby for years.
Fed Up Tag Team partner: What do you know about family, what do you know about brothers? As far as I'm concerned, I ain't got a brother! Distraught Tag Team partner: Why you ain't got no brother?!
I can't tell how much I miss Gable and Jordan together. What they did with American Alpha is so disappointing. American Alpha would've given so many brilliant matches.
American Alpha comes to mind. They were just barely reaching their full potential on the main roster when they were split for literally no reason because they wanted to force feed everyone a Jason Jordan singles run that he clearly wasn't even ready for. I HATE IT. *Edit:* I typed this as the number 10 entry was revealed...
Deuce and Domino. More mind boggling than their team getting spilt up was the fact that the Fed ignored Domino's singles idea which would have been money, and let him go immediately
Speaking of when the Dudleys broke up in 2002 draft, WWE also in their infinite wisdom decided to break up the Hardys and APA in that same year. And considering that E&C was also broken up a year earlier, WWE's tag division was pretty much doomed after that point. Well, at least Booker & Goldust tried to save it
Not only did last years split ups of the iiconics and heavy machinery were pointless, it left to 3 of them being released less than a year later. Here's an a theory:if you don't split them up it wouldn't have lead to Billie Peyton and Tucker being released and both teams being tag team champions at the same time.....ok that last part was a stretch
There's something heart warming about watching a really good tag team work together, so it's so upsetting when they split them up unceremoniously. I get it if they make a rivalry out of it- I know it's over done but at least they get to use that chemistry. But when they just split up on some random episode of raw it's just sad.
If Worlds Greatest Tag Team isn't on here I'll be dissapointed. Cause they did Shelton dirty! Haas had that fantastic team up with Rico, Shelton got a mediocre singles push. Also yes, Rico was great, on jah, *FIGHT ME!*
@@geleneceline2310 Well duh. That doesn't change that fact that it was pointless. They did that with the Hardy's that very same night. But they made it as singles. Bubba got a push for what like 3 weeks. This isn't TNA it was very clear that neither Dudley's were gonna make it as singles in WWE. Therefore pointless.
WWE: Okay, we have a very popular and successful tag team. Fans: Yes, we do! WWE: We're gonna split them up. Fans: Why? WWE: We don't know. Fans: Well, do you at least have a plan for them as singles stars? WWE: ............................................................................................................................................................................ :(
The comment about Chad Gable only being in teams that split up quick and showing him and Otis didn't age well, considering that not only are they still together today, they're former tag champs and are quite popular xD
As a wildcard entry the New Day should be included, I'd argue. Like, yeah, they're *_technically_* still together but for some reason they've got Big E on Smackdown and Kofi and Woods on Raw and, far as I can tell, there's no point in it and (if anything) makes them less interesting as you lose Big E as the group muscle.
You know what I would’ve loved, what would have made sense and what would have been refreshing and potentially one of the better moves wwe could’ve made in recent times would’ve been to have Otis cash in his mitb on the tag titles, the wwe universe would’ve loved it and it’s way better than what actually occurred
It's even more maddening that the majority of these teams are from the last 10 years, and that goes to show that at least prior to that, WWE and Vince had a better grasp of how to do tag teams at one point. How they have handled teams recently is just bonkers and a testament to Vince's inability to understand the division in the modern age. This is only one of several reasons why tons of fans have migrated over to AEW and other promotions, because fans are genuinely tired of the crap being pumped out by Vince these days. Personally, I just feel properly insulted watching WWE right now. Do they really think we don't pay attention and remember stuff? Their storytelling, in particularly, is just some of the worst.
Thank you!!! I knew when they split up Cass and Enzo that it was a huge mistake!!! and after they did so I quit watching...I have met both men while they were still in NXT and got to dance in the ring with Cass...and they were my favorite tag team!!
WWE literally will create great tag teams and even if they win the belts and do well for alittle will eventually be split up even tho they have nothing solo for either star AND THE TAG DIVISION NEEDS LIFE ITS BEEN DEAD SINCE EARLY 2000s
I say the Dudleys split in 02 was very pointless Bubba did ok on Raw D-Von not so much the only thing I remember is the cool theme he had and pairing up with Ron Simmons for a bit.
Id say with Reverend D-Von is the quick segment of him been offended by Chuck and Billy's wedding and Batista giving him one the stiffest Sitdown Powerbomb I can remember.
Enzo and Cass neither won tag team gold in NXT neither on the main roster. They were so over with the crowd. They should have won tag gold atleast once.
WWE legitimately does not know how to use tag teams. It makes so much sense that great tag teams like The Young Bucks or SCU (rip) never went there; WWE would probably try to split them within their first few months. It's a god damned travesty, considering they've had so many great ones in the past and now regularly break up ones that would be great if they lasted more than six months. Teams like The New Day are lucky, and even they're at risk because WWE took Big E out instead of doing the smart thing and have Xavier and Kofi supporting him on the same brand. It would be even better now with E's feud with Crews, considering they gave him backup. And I'm still pissed about Sarah Logan getting the short stick consistently with the Riott Squad and them breaking up The IIconics. WWE doesn't deserve women's tag teams, especially since now almost the entire tag division is just paired singles stars.
if only Jordan never got injured&retired. Jordan would've been the one to beat Kurt at Mania 35 instead of Corbin. at least that match would've made sense
Shad could have worked if they let him do the whole my time gimmick he was doing and Bully Ray would have been great in wwe if they let him do it, Gable as Angles son would have been great especially if Angle would have been their manager for awhile
Both American Alpha members could've been pushed as great singles stars although Jason Jordan's gimmick was bad and Gable went back to tag then as Shorty G and now is back as American Alpha with Otis sigh oh boy
