The Jim Ross one is even more disrespectful when you think about the fact that Jim is one of the biggest reasons the WWE came out of the early 90's slump and boomed in the attitude era. Talent respected JR because he treated them right and they treated the company right.

Never knew about that Jake the Snake storyline, but it reminded me of when I tuned in to WWE last summer to see Jeff Hardy being made fun of for his past alcohol abuse. If you told 9 year old me back in 2009 that yes, Jeff Hardy would return one day, but he wouldn’t get a main title run or even a good storyline, I wouldn’t believe you. I really hope something good is on the way for Hardy for when fans come back, he deserves it

Whenever this topic comes up, 2 names always float to my memory, Jim Ross, and Bret Hart. No one has been humiliated more consistently than Jim Ross by Vince Mcmahon, and just took it. You have to wonder why Vince was so obsessed with this. Bret at least, was more understandable if still reprehensible, but really, I hope Jim Ross is in a happier place now. Damn it Vince!

Claiming that Vince respects and admires JR is demonstrably false, he just valued JRs name recognition and brand value. JR brought in and developed so much talent while contributing so much legitimacy to their on air product. Vince is a megalomaniac who demands full unwavering devotion and loyalty while showing damn near nobody in his life those same things. JR is one of the greatest and most respected minds in pro-wrestling history who was one of the most loyal WWE employees ever. If Vince could get away with literally shitting on JR on live TV he would have.

Hot take: the "Eddie is in hell" and the CM Punk/Paul Bearer stuff is great heel work. Is it cheap heat? Yes, but if you gave Bob Ross cheap paints he could still make you a lovely picture. Cheap heat is a tool, and like any other tool it's up to the person using it to make it effective. Orton's sick glee in blaspheming Eddie and Punk's evil trolling is top notch in my book. I remember back in the mid 2000s after Lillian Garcia left the WWE, they asked her to come back to do a Raw because the current ring announcer was snowed in and couldn't make it. So she shows up and bails them out and Triple H makes some odd comment about her saying "if Lillian wants to come back and horse around she can". Come to find out some of the guys backstage used to call her "horseface" behind her back and he subtly dissed the person who came back to help them out on air.
