Emma, I will be forever grateful to you for opening my eyes to linen! Over the years watching you, I have amassed my own budget-friendly linen collection (casual pants, joggers, shorts, 2 BLAZERS (tan & navy), an over-sized shirt and a dress). I don’t even know now what obstacle I had to overcome, probably the wrinkling, but now I look forward to my “linen season”. Yeah! I tried not to wear black in the summer 15 yrs ago and it’s not for me . I’m a khaki , navy gray , green , black color pallet person. With a little white sprinkled in for summer :) Also don’t care if my linen creases. I sit I stand it is what it is .
I don't wear black either, navy is my equivalent. I do find videos like this are great inspiration, just swap the black for navy. This year I'm loving monochrome in ivory and sky blue too, and yes to the linen (don't care about creases either).
Love this!!! When I was growing up, I was not allowed to wear much black at all. Consequently, now I want to wear it all the time! Even though I have been wearing loads of black all spring and summer, I feel like you've given me permission to wear black even in the warmer months and feel confident in my style choices. I iron my linens, but don’t worry about creasing while wearing them. I’ve recently found some items in linen/viscose blend, which is even lighter and cooler, they don’t need ironing, nor crease as much while wearing, I love this fabric. I just ordered a pair of black silk joggers, I’m excited to wear them on slightly cooler days, it doesn’t get more comfy than that! I wish they made more colors, like navy, brown, beige and khaki green, I’d get a whole wardrobe of them.
I also love to wear black in summer - my absolute favourite summer dress is one from Comptoir des Cotonniers which I found in a charity shop: the top is like a cotton vest and the fuller skirt (with pockets) looks a bit like silk
A loved video more than you know ❤ The long and short of it is that I suffer from hyperhidrosis and am forced to wear dark colors. When everyone else is wearing light colors I always feel left out. But the way you style everything makes it more Chic then if I could wear, a brighter color. Thank you so much for this video it really is life-changing. Big hugs 🤗💚

I always thought black pants were too "heavy" looking for summer, but I got a pair of black linen pants like yours last summer and they are amaaazing. I wore them all the time, I'll never go without now. Especially for dressing up a little, just pairing it with a nice black tank or blouse and some jewelry is so easy.
Great pieces Emma, like yourself, I adore black and adore linen, wrinkles and all. Actually, if you hang them, the creases tend to fall out. Now, flip flops , on the other hand, I had to stop wearing a couple of years back because they hurt between my toes. Birkenstocks seem like a reasonable option now. Thank you for sharing these.

Your emphasis on sizing up and having room to move your arms (especially with blazers) has changed the way I shop. Now I'm sizing up one or two sizes and have realized "oh this is how I get that cool relaxed fit." I have to give you credit for helping me to develop a style more true to me. I love that I'm in good company wearing black in the summer. I went for lunch yesterday and my friend said 'its 90 degrees today and youre wearing black?' I said 'its my summer color.' Black is always appropriate.
Love love your taste…I live in Charleston, SC, so black with longer sleeves or trousers is just not an option if you’re spending any amount of time outdoors here. But I’ve loads of black linen skirts/dresses/sleeveless tops as I agree that black in summer is so very chic!! 💗💗💗

Great options! Only linen creases the way it does. Linen has a beautiful sheen to it and is fabulous for summer. I love all your choices...But I do feel that rubber flip flops are for the beach only. I prefer thong sandals which are more elegant and more appropriate with clothes.
I’ve loved your minimal, city chic aesthetic for years Emma and am really enjoying binge watching your videos whilst on Mat leave and particularly on long breastfeeding stints with my 5 week old boy. My body has changed a bit but a lot of my old clothes still fit. Looking forward to taking on your tips agp help me responsibly purchase new clothes whilst hoping to make them work with my old ones. @@SerenaDAlexander tip here, for black boxy t -shirts try the men's undershirts from Kalvin Klein or other brand in 100 % cotton and they will do the trick for a lot less. For a silky black skirt you can literally go for a slip, under the tee shirt and then a pair of black converse and away you go!

Paused this to order a black silk t-shirt blouse. I have a black silk one with puff sleeves and a neck tie, but that feels too formal for me. I agree with all of these, except for the flip flops, but I might need them for the sauna. I’m happy that I recently thrifted a black cotton dress, black linen trousers, and black bag. My black tee is the MVP. I spent so much on it, but I’ve had it for years and years. It even has a few tiny holes, but where I tuck it in, so I’ll keep it until it crumbles. (Majestic filatures)
