That Man has finally come to Guilty Gear Strive and it clears how he earned that title. Without a doubt this character is going to shift the meta. On the surface you'd think his bnb combos were impossible, well they're not, they're just kinda hard. Asuka combos aren't actually that hard which is what makes him so scary. This means after you guys get the combos in this guide you can start practicing neutral setups, setplay, and mix. And he got all that and more. Good Luck daredevils, the end of season 2 is gonna get Nutty!

Input Notation:
(Assuming Player 1 Side)

⬅️🚹➡️ = 4 5 6

FD = Forward Dash
P = Punch
K = Kick
CS = Close Slash
FS = Far Slash
HS = Heavy Slash
D = Dust
J = Jumping
Jc. = Jump Cancel
CH = Counter Hit
RRC = Red Roman Cancel
PRC = Purple Roman Cancel
~ = pressing the second input immediately after the first.
[X] = Hold button
]X[ = Error follow-up should come out and hit at this part in the combo
Terms used:
Hitconfirm: Performing an attack, seeing that your attack successfully hit, and then reacting to this information by continuing the combo.
Frametrap: Two attacks back-to-back that leave a very small gap between them. The gap will be shorter than the defender's fastest attack, which means if they try to attack with a normal, they will get counter hit.
Tick Throw: Making someone block a fast, close-range normal and then immediately throwing them.
Combo Notation:
Midscreen CH. Close Slash Combo:
CS, 2HS, CS, JcJK, Air Dash, JK, JD, CS, 5H, 5H
You have to do a superjump here, NOT a normal jump
Midscreen Close Slash Combo:
CS, 2HS, CS, 2HS, 5K, 6HS
This works on counterhit as well, the key is starting enough to the enemy to land it all.
Charged Dust Combo
Charged Dust while holding up, JHS, JS, JcJHS, JS, JHS, JcJHS, JHS (Finish Blow)
5K to 6K confirm Combo
5K, 6K, 236P (Howling Metron), DASH, 5K, 6HS
The microdash is key here and for most of his combos, get this down before you try the rest of his combos
Far Slash/Cr.slash Confirm Combo
FS, 236P (Howling Metron), 236K (Delayed Howling), DASH, 5K, 6HS, 214P, 4K
remember to bookmark whenever you can! 6HS gives enough to refill two spells and contine pressure.
After your original chant continue holding 4 and pressing the button for the next spell you wanna fill. Makes it much easier on the hands. 👍🏾
Far Slash/Cr/slash RC Combo
FS, 236P (Howling Metron), 6K (Delayed Howling), 4P, DASH, 5K, DASH, 66BRC, CS, 5[D], 5K, 236S, 5HS, 214S, 4K, 5HS
-Use the dash macro after landing 5K then Blue roman cancel
when doing multiple chants just continue holding forward and pressing the button for spell slot
Throw RC Combo
Throw, 66PRC, CS, 236P (Howling Metron), DASH, CS, 2HS, 236K (delayed howling), DASH, 5HS, 214P, 4K, 5HS
This combo is so lenient you can use any basic attack spell instead of howling metron
Air to Air CH JHS
JS, CS, SuperJump, JK, AIR DASH, JK JD, CS, 2S, 5HS, 5HS
remember to superjump NOT regular jump
6K Counter Hit COmbo
6K, 236P (Howling Metron), 4P, DASH, CS, 2HS, 236K (Delayed howling), 4K, DASH, CS, 2HS, 236HS (Screamer), 4HS
Uncharged Dust Combo
5[D], 66RRC, DASH, CS, 236P (Howling), 4P, DASH, CS, 2HS, 236K (Delayed Howling), 4K, Dash, 5HS, 5HS
Terra Low Mix Confirm Combo
Terra Metron, 236K (Delayed Howling), 4K, DASH, 2S, 2HS, 236HS (Screamer), 4HS, DASH 5HS
Accipiter Overhead Mix Confirm Combo
Accipiter Metron, 236K (Delayed Howling), 4K, DASH, 5K, DASH, 66BRC,
CS, JUMP, AIR DASH, JS, CS, 2S, 5HS, 214S, 4,HS
-Use the dash macro after landing 5K then Blue roman cancel
Delayed the JS as much as you can after the airdash
Midscreen COunter Hit 5HS Combo

I like to imagine comboing with spells with this character is more like building blocks than thinking about combos as a whole. Thinking of where each spell can be used and how for a combo and putting them together. Truly a fascinating character

Yea, any spell besides a support spell is pretty much a combo extender.

as a dedicated asuka main, this is so true. you make your decision which is usually a block of different inputs canceled into eachother. then you react to the result and choose another block of inputs. It's funny too because he mostly throws blocks.

@@Baditow fellow asuka main (new) yeah this guy is super fun, a very VERY different fighter and one I have so much fun playing as. the way he has endless combos is going to leave me labing for hours

@@chJohnJobs honestly I think the people who are labing asuka are wasting their time. the primary true skill with asuka is predicting future gamestates and that can only be improved by playing out actual scenarios.

Besides making sure you SuperJump. when the first JK make sure JK is slightly above them. 👍🏾

how are you getting that much air time in the first combo? i cant jump a second time to get the hit in, like the knock back

the trick is to super jump, 5k and then dash, if it's difficult to super jump, you can do a half circle-like motion after landing the close slash (2369) to make it easier on yourself

Exactly! You'll use these spell the most but I've seen what you can do with magnet pulls. They don't call him that man for nothing.

First make sure your superjumping. Second make sure when the first jk connects Asuka is slightly above the enemy.👍

Chipp TOD, perfect for the scenario in which you have 3 metron screamers and a tardus metron (test case 2 or 3) at round start Jokes aside a lot of these combos are good to know
