The final Guilty Gear Strive character of Season 2, Asuka R. Kreutz, is a very unconventional character. So, I made this video to hopefully help you with building a fundamental base line for playing the character.

Please I'm mad confused how do you get c.s of 2h? I only get far slash, doesn't look like you cancel 2h will card draw. Please help me LordKnight you are my only hope Dw worked out you have to be moving forward when you start the combo lol

Here's a tip for anyone who wants to try a different prespective: go to training and try using only one spell for a combo, i discovered i only need one "Red ball" from mid-screen to wall break, 1 thunder cube 1 wind tricube/1 water cube for wallbreak.... Idk how to apply this in other situations but i guess LK here does an astonishing job helping in other aspects of Asuka

I've been playing Asuka these couple of days, losing your manabar feels so punishing, losing most of your options and getting basically instakilled is rough.

He has been so fun, advice to ppl, I would say don't use him as a zoner, his real charm is his combo potential and pressure with alot of these spells, gives him tons to work with and he's just too slow with bookmarking and recovering mana to be a zoner, use those in-between your combos or blockstrings, or use the spell backwards button cancel to get a spell right back or down cancel to recover a bit, but not for long, hope this helps ppl

He does still have the capability to be a zoner, but he's not as consistent as someone like Zato and you will eventually run out of spells or just luck out on a range spell. The test case in S (the blue one) opens you up to being able to spam spells once you've gotten Mana Regen and Bookmark Reload. And yeah, he's advanced in the way that he needs inputs at 110% to keep up optimal gameplay. Incredibly fun to play when you get it right.

I use him as a zoner but i understood him realy quick. Once ppl get used to him youll have zoners or rush down players he can totally do both. But id say hes designed to be a zoner as you can cancel spells and book marks into mana recovery its just most arent very good yet.

@maxrusty3596 I definitely get that but overall especially against fast rushdowns he doesent rly work as a zoner due to the slowness of having to recover and manage spells, it also ofc comes down to if you've been given any good spells for it too

@AdamJorgensen yeah it's a great place for him but soon becomes bad once u need to regen everything, ur a sitting duck with little options and ur manas about to run out where ur in MAJOR danger, so try see how it goes following what I've said to an extent

The best resourceless bnb I've found is: c.S > 2HS > c.S > 2HS > 5K Dash Cancel > c.S > 5S > 5HS I dont know if the post dash cancel portion is optimal, but if you do c.S > 2HS > Spell at the end you can easily extend beyond that.

I've totally stolen this idea but I've been experimenting with a different ender: cS > 2H > cS > 2H > 5K > dash > cS > 2S > 2H You can actually get a safejump jS afterwards which is cool. And if you don't safejump you get really good oki.

i am quite new so it might just be a skill issue but i cant manage to get the cs after the 2hs i always end up with just S any help would be much appreciated :)

@ennersia4295 The spacing is a bit strict, but that's it. It's way more consistent with dash momentum, but for the most part this is a combo to do when you know you're spaced right like off a meaty c.S or just having the intuition for it. If you get a f.S instead of a c.S after the first 2H juggle, you can either go into 5H to end the combo if you have to or use a spell to extend the combo into something like "... > f.S > spell > dash (if you have the time to) > 5K > 6H" for a good hard knockdown.

I figured it was just subtracting tiny amounts of mana with each redraw, but you may be correct. Good thing it can end early by pressing Dust!

I think arcsys was trying to make an xrd character lol. I played sin and dizzy a bit so I really like this type of thing. I get distracted when I'm not 100% focused, so execution heavy characters kinda help me stay focused.

You can actually confirm into 5S or cS from 2p>water cube or 2K>water cube, on top of that lightning cube will give you a full extension out of 2S which is nice

Making a comeback with him is rough. Hc atleast still have throw curse and clone to wiggle around when he's out of bar while aska is locked out of his special entirely, not to mention aska only have one refill super but Hc have both refill for his bullet and concentration

If his projectiles are so plus that he can draw/change deck/charge mana while continuing pressure, then having Bookmark Full Import in your hand should let you loop projectile > mana recovery before drawing 4 with BFI for an extended blockstring. I imagine having Bookmark Auto Import in hand should let you do something similar, just jail them forever until the effect runs out. If you have bar then you can probably brute force this by switching into Test Case 3 during a blockstring, using super to dig for BAI, cast it alongside a random projectile, switch to test case 2 and then just try open them with high/low spells. we jacko now

Thunder comes out at 12 frames and Water at 11. many 5 framers cant beat the water in block strings. so could be a mix like if he is doing thunder or water

his cancels are crazy, after doing a special once you can cycle trough all buttons, pull all cards, switch testcase into recover basically in one cancel string i dont think mana recovery cancels tho but everything else seems to

Use faultless defense to push may away and 6p dolphin if its horizontal and dash forward if its vertical. 2s is also useful on Horizontal dolphin after faultless defense depending on space between you and may.
