Appreciate the industry forecasting and am excited to learn more about the enhanced information from the Daikin One services.

There are a few different banks that offer lease options to customer but will pay like over $60-$75K for a new unit over the 10 year lease terms. But it does include 10 year extended labor warranty, including refrigerant and all the routine maintenance and cleanings. Then after 10 years you have the option to buy it outright or just replace the unit again with a new 10 year lease. Just like a car. Some customers like the peace of mind I have sold a few here in Arizona

@NewHVACGuide really, the cake is big enough for everyone.. I'm a home owner who worked more than 10 years in hardware stored, knows about a bit about paint, electrical, plumbing, and automotive, having said that. Im a 100% DIY guy, and for people like me, installing a mini split is not rocket science. BUT for people in the trade like yours, that means a challenge when it shouldn't be.. a good HVAC guys would have never responded from a place of hate and fear like you just did. That tells me that you could be one of those rotten apple in the basket.

@@Trujillo4u there will be more choices for DIY guys like us and its obvious that the industry will have to adjust and survive. There will be the need to call an hvac from time to time but that doesn't mean we must depend on them

Hey Josh, I know this is unrelated to the video but I had a question regarding how droop/upstage timer work in a heat pump situation: I currently have an air source heat pump with backup electric strips paired with a Honeywell t4 thermostat. I currently have droop set at 2 degrees and upstage timer set at 30 minutes. Does this mean that the temperature would have to fall below droop and stay there for 30 minutes for it to kick on the aux heat strips? Or will any cycle lasting for more than 30 minutes kick on the aux? I don’t typically use set backs for my heat pumps but trying to learn how the behavior works. Every thread I have read and manual isn’t clear. For instance, if the thermostat was on 66 and I raised it to 70, would it kick on the aux strips immediately or try 30 minutes to hit the set droop of 2 degrees which would be 68 and then use heat pump only to finish getting to 70? Your channel is awesome! Thanks for all the great content!
@NewHVACGuide
@NewHVACGuide 6 месяцев назад
You’re thinking is correct. The back of heat stage timer makes it to where once it gets below 2° for the heat droop, it will wait 30 minutes before bringing on the back up heat. They almost work in tandem. I’m pretty sure I did a video on this if you want to try to look that up.

Hi Josh. I feel like a boomer when saying this. But I do not want more technology into HVAC units. I think they cause way more problems than reliability for honeowners. Whats your thoughts on this?

Hey Josh, my name is Josh as well!!! I'm in my second year at HVAC,. Yes, they raise their prices every year. Daiken is Goodman? If I am not mistaken, Daiken has taken a liking to R32 vs. R545b right? I heard that Trane and Carrier is leaning more towards R545b.

@NewHVACGuide no problem mate! The major flaw with side vent outdoor units is that if houses are too close then the exhausted heat can effect the neighbours AC outdoor unit. I have seen this happen in a housing complex

Hey Josh, as we go more “ductless” I would like to see more options for humidity, ventilation etc. We have a small home and will be removing our laughable ductwork and switching to minisplits. I considered an air handler but our ductwork from 1940 is horrific plus we need to gain ceiling height in an already short basement. In dry Utah we struggle with controlling humidity + air quality so have been looking at Aprilaire ductless steam and lunos ventilation. I looked at the link you provided for the Daiken air purifier and was disappointed in the 1 gallon humidity. Who wants to fill, clean a tank everyday, plus being in dry Utah I doubt 1 gallon would last me very long. I would like to hear your thoughts or even a video on how to get ventilation + humidity with ductless systems. Lastly, I was going to go with Daiken for my minisplits but they dont have as many features or that flush ceiling cassette between the joist option. Do you see Daiken expanding on their ductless options in the near future? Thanks!

I think thermostats and boards are going to start going DIY setups... and I don't mean DIY install... I mean buying a microcontroller and programming it. I am thinking of doing this myself and releasing the code as open source. I could make a 3-zone control board for $13 instead of the $170 of iO HVAC. The code is actually quite simple, as well.

You have that in reverse. Daikin/Amana took their upper tier and moved the same skus and parts over to Goodman. Goodman is being pulled up as twins to the Amana or Daikin. I mostly sell Amana equipment like the S-Series and the NG furnaces in Colorado. Goodman is a great product especially the newest skus. Identical parts internally.
