10 Onewheel Pint X Things I Love & Hate, Including that Wasted Space! 

I know people who've sunk more than the $450 difference into upgrading their original Pint's battery, and voided their warranty in the process. Having the extra range is worth the new price, imo.

They should just make one with a removable battery pack. They would make a killing on selling battery packs and then range could be a non issue just throw a couple extra in a pack.

This could be an absolute winner for FM if they just fixed their pricing. Drop the Pint to $900 ish and the Pint X to $1200 and it would be a definite improvement. Having a sub $1k board would've given a pretty decent prospect for new riders

The biggest problem I have with future motion is that they don’t provide replacement parts. The boards are very modular and should be easy to repair but future motion goes out of their way to make repair harder and more costly in-terms of money and time.

About price: I know I'm going to sound like a shill or an FM rep here but what I actually am is an industrial designer. We're unfortunately in a very high inflation period that may or may not go away, that's coupled with shipping costs nearly quadrupling and a (I'm going to say manufactured to increase share valuation) fuel scarcity that's driving costs way up. So while yes, it does suck that the prices are rising, that's fairly consistent with the climate we're in. It's also important to remember that most of the tech we consume is priced artificially lower than it should be. I'd be willing to bet that most hardware is subsidized by other much higher profit driven software companies/app companies/accessories/big data. Similarly, I would wager that OneWheels themselves are barely profitable when you take net into consideration but, injection molded accessories can more easily be made domestically and generate a much larger margin.

Jimmy! Honestly my only complaint about my pint is that speed currently. I literally feel like that slight mph change may be perfect. At 205lbs I get pushback currently at about 14.5 which is like the time I start to feel fun. Pushback at 16.5-17 sounds like worth the upgrade for me

I just got the Pint X as my first Onewheel and I’m loving it. Hearing about the pros and cons from many reviewers definitely makes me think it’s a great entry model, but not worth the upgrade if you already own a vanilla Pint.

I got the pint early this summer, ~6months ago. My biggest complaint is the range. I am 6'2" ~220lbs, so basically the limit of size for the one wheel, and get about 6 miles of range usually. There's a big hill going up to a park by me and that hill alone, it's about 1/3 of a mile in total, will drain about 12% battery. Ive been stranded once, my Pint died, but showed it had 15% battery left, yet it wouldn't go any more. After the showcase i found a video about the Quart aftermarket battery for the Pint that basically doubles the range for about $350(if i remember correctly), i think i will end up getting that.

I'm glad they came out with new products. But the pint X is super underwhelming. The range is nice, but they really could have put alot more into it. Better light bar. Better foot sensors. Slightly larger footpads. Suspension. Customizable LEDs. More clearance. Handle hole. They just threw a bigger battery in a pint and they are Charging 50% more. Not to mention, an XR is so customizable, you can make that board anything you want.

The pricing structure makes me think they want their products to be seen as more quality, similar to what Apple does. I think they probably thought that all onewheels being over $1,000 would give it more gravitas

Andrew hit the nail on the head.They didn't make a better product.They should have fixed the pushback issues by adding features for it on the app.Basically your getting a better battery for and additional $450.

This why I love your channel very fair preview/reviews.I like my original pint as it fits my needs as I don’t go on long rides but thanks for calling out the bs of future motion raising the price of the original pint.I feel like they are not helping themselves by not lowering the prices of the original pint.There a market for EV but not everyone wants to drop a grand on one.770-850 would be a perfect price.

charging at 3 amps as compared to 1.3a gives you less battery life both in run time and charge cycles.

I want to see someone ride the Pint X uphill. I think the thicker front end is really going to catch people off guard.

Much more inclined to grab the GT to upgrade from my Pint. Love the look of the pint and the new GT follows that aesthetic but has all the extras I wanted the XP to have.

About Innovation: There's A LOT of hate going towards FM over the GT because it is a completely new product and whether it was intentional or not, that hangs the aftermarket community scrambling to catch up. The new Pint X looks is a bit more "if it's not broke, don't fix it, let's just make it more competitive with the current XR." I don't mind this pragmatic approach as it now gives people who like the pint the ability to hang with the XRs on group rides and enjoy a greater range/speed. I think no matter what, FM would get criticism. The more troubling issue seems to be that front sensor.

I'm with Andrew on this one. I recently switched from the old pint to an XR, and I'm definitely holding on to it for now. Good point from Jimmy on the clearance. From what I saw so far, it looks like the GT will suffer the same problem, it just looks too low.

I think a lot of people just have a bad taste in their mouth about future motion. And even with this Grand release of a new product it still doesn't deliver anything new that most of the true one wheelers already had.. if anything it shows that future motion wants it all for themselves.

The form factor is nice, as well as the range increase. The price though put me off to it. I wonder if it would be better to just pick up the old Pint, when discounts hit, or other's sell their used boards to finance an upgrade, and just get a larger battery for it for almost the same results and less cost.

Just got a pint x used for $1200 with Hypercharger. I started with a Pint and I love it (but it's just alittle too slow). I still want an XR but I still love having a smaller form factor board. So glad I got a Pint X at such a good price :D

You actually mentioned something I haven't heard of before. That 50% increase in price is really crazy if you think about it. And on top of that the pint's price didn't drop. What the hell? Yea, Future Motion is pretty weird.

With the decreased clearance, that I do find really odd. It would not be hard for FM to simply construct the rails with slight downward angles starting near the outer edges of the tire so that the axle is effectively dropped an extra inch or so relative to the bottoms of the footpads. It would also look kind of cool, too, introducing some angles into the profile of the board, IMO.

I got the base bundle and I like it because I got the fender and then I just bought the rail gaurds seperatly

Too late Jimmy, I already got the same bundle you did 😂. For a first time onewheel owner though, I'm pretty happy overall.

For someone coming in new to the OW market, the Pint X seems to be the sweet spot. I've wanted one for a long time and finally pulled the trigger for the X based on the speed/range bumps. I am too new to have many of the things that bothered you bother me since I have no experience to compare it to. I'm just going to enjoy my new X and smile my way into the OW Community. 🙂

Have had both for almost a year now.. and I love my XR way more than my Pint. And good on you for being honest about the bundles. The 3rd party folks have better products anyway. Float Life rail guards are about 100 times better than FM rail guards, any day of the week.

Jimmy what do you think is a better investment: used XR or new pintX?

From what I have seen I think I am glad I just went with the onewheel xr+. Though it is kind of aggravating not even a month after I got it they came out with new boards.

Finally now that my snowboarding season is over I am getting around to reading the reviews on the new Onewheels. Have had my Pint for two years and have toyed with the idea of an XR at times because of the off-road ability but I have learned to ride the Pint on gravel roads and some trails, so don't need it. I like that the Pint is more maneuverable, lighter in weight and easy to store behind the seat in my vehicle, making it very accessible. I travel and camp and it is the best way to have quick, easy, and fun transportation when stopping in town or camping. I get over 10 miles with plenty of reserve on my Pint and now have a car charger and the quick charger, so range is not a problem. The big downside I see with the X is the lower clearance, as well as I don't want any extra weight. So will stick with the Pint. Only problem is that I had a sudden malfunction when riding the other day. Top speed showed 14.3 mph, flat surface, no push back the whole ride, which was about a mile. Suddenly locked up it seemed, and threw me. Hit hard on my left hip but no breaks luckily. The wrist guards saved my hands. A few scrapes and bruises, but trying to find out what happened. I have experienced nose dive before when battery was low, and another freak pitch forward at lower speed which was due to sand in the crack in the road on an uphill grade. No understanding of what happened here. I tried to find something about a Simple Stop glitch that I heard people mention, but can't find anything on that. Waiting for FM to get back to me, but not expecting much help there. Two days later I sent an email inquiring and they said they are waiting for my serial number, purchase info, etc., ALL of which I sent them with the Diagnostic Data back the day of the accident. Battery was at 60%.

Can you put normal pint bumper on the front of the pint X to make it thin again?

The meh factor of the Pint X, and the custom tire on the GT just drove me closer to an EUC.

Love your videos but just a little tip, you should touch up the edge of the knife you were using. You can see it was actually tearing, not slicing the packing tape. Lol on the broken clavicle sticker. Also I like the DIY look better, I think.

Two wild and crazy knowledgeable guys! Thanks Jimmy and Andrew for the great insights! The lack waterproofing and price increase to me were my biggest issues. Also it sounds like you can’t fly with the PintX from some comments that I’ve read elsewhere which was a huge selling point of the Pint to me, so that I can always have a wheel with me. For me a lot of this was playing catch-up with the third party so that folks would buy new instead of used and upgrading. It’s still a new and fun Onewheel but I’m with Andrew they just had me wanting more!

I'm with Andrew on this one. Two years and that is all they could think of? They could have put 15 more cells in the wasted space on the front and have a 15s3p, but they didn't even put a hole to be a handle. They could not artificially cripple the top speed and riding modes in the firmware/app. How about better footpad sensors, or brighter LEDs? So many possibilities but we got nothing.

🌕 I ride the ole Pint and love it for its carving ability. To think of having a heavier one that can scrape on a tight slow turn is a turn off for me. I was ready to move up to the X when my local shop quoted me the $1050 price as the resale value is great for my old one, but once I read the listing for the X at $1400 it’s not worth the extra cost even though my entire reason was the extra distance a short coming for the ole Pint. Though I actually found to achieve 10 miles at 9/10 /11 mph. And generally only ride around about 8 or 9 and like the less charging time. Keeping mine and considering I got a deal at $950. Still a value at $1050. I love it so much I am thinking of buying another before its price goes up. Have one for my grand kids to ride with me. Only a little sad that my Pint I get push back at anything over 12 mph. This is my 3rd OW love it way more than My old XR since I don’t ride the dirt. My hats off to the motion crew industries. Living in Santa Cruz and been riding these since I first saw them on the cliffs 4 years ago. These boards are built good and built to last.🤙

after riding the pint for several months i can say that i like the XR but the pint is wayyyy more fun to ride. and if you ride pint enough and get REALLY comfortable ( which i will say does take some time) its like nothing else. Pint just takes ALOT longer to get that same kind of comfort. Def takes more skill to ride a pint.

I agree with Andrew on the design. Most people say they don't really like the XR design because it looks like it was made in a garage. I love it because... it looks like it was made in a garage! Every scratch, every bump add to the aesthetic of the XR instead of subtracting from it. It just gets cooler with time, instead of looking old and rough it looks like it was used like it wants to be used.

My first reaction to the GT was Jimmy got his wish, it doesn’t look garage built now!

so you're paying $400 more for the gT to go 14 miles further than the XR both are very similar in terms of specs, not worth it unless its your first time getting a one wheel

Pint to Pint X really just feels like the Onewheel Plus to the Plus XR (extended range). The Jump from Gen1 to the Plus was huuuge. The jump from the XR to the GT seems pretty big as well. I’ve been waiting to hear them drop something different enough to go out and get. I love that they’re offering the rounder tires. They’re harder to learn on, but once you “get gud” they’re so much more fun. The pint X is just more range really. Little more speed. So it’s a little better than the XR jump, but otherwise it’s pretty much the same product. They only exist to provide people with different price options. So yea, I mean if you have the money or you can sell your Pint and you want more range…. Do it up. The range extension is pretty awesome. My Plus gets around 5 or 6 miles, and yea if I bring the charger I can have it up and running again in 45 mins or so; but not having to do that because you have double the range really is a game changer. The hyper charger is a game changer too. Being able to go 6 miles, chill for 40 mins, and then get another 6 miles is pretty nuts. Make that 12 miles or 32 miles!!! Well, now it’s just insane. The GT battery probably takes a good 3 to 5 hours or so, but I’m mean… 32 miles… that’s nuts. You could ride literally all day, maybe need 1 partial charge…Maybe, lmao.

No front handle still is a bummer. I added a strap to my pint, attatched to the front bumper screws, because I feel a front handle is a necessity. The maghandle is great but you need the front one in different situations. As much as I'm dissapointed at the lack of improvements, I honestly think the Pint X is the OW to buy now. It's relatively light and easy to carry, and the range you get for the price point is the sweet spot. The GT is hard to justify at it's EUC level price, the regular Pint has too little range to be very viable. The Pint X is kind of the goldilocks of the group, and it's certainly the one I would recommend to newcomers. As for myself I think I'll finally be buying a Quart Battery for my Pint and calling it a day. There's nothign to entice me to upgrade to a Pint X or GT, and I haven't missed anything about my XR (Sold) except for a bit of range.

I agree with everything you guys said. I will be very hesitant to buy another Future Motion Product. Just months ago they said there is nothing to worry about, buy your Pints and XRs without worry. Now we have a Pint with a Quartz Battery marked up by 50% and an XR with an essentials package marked up by 100%. All the benefits of the Pint X are due to the extra voltage/watts on the battery. They had almost no motor, housing, or sensor upgrades (I say almost cause i don't know). Battery tech has gotten cheaper, not more expensive. This is really poor business practice, and I will vote with my wallet.

Honestly they should include a cheap injection molded fender for the money they're charging. Still think the GT is the winner for me.

Very Slick when you were talking about Bundle then pulling the tape sounded like CRAP lol haaaa, I'm afraid of my pint I just bought busted my arm and hip.

the pint x is my 1st one wheel so i cant speak to how it feels compared to the older model or the XR, however as a new rider i feel the pint x is great to get going and feeling what a one wheel can do and go, ive had mine for a about 6days now and ive taken it on dirt,road,grass and it feels capable to carry me around a burly dude weighing 200+ lbs.

I just don’t understand why they don’t have a pushback alert sound on the app! They have sensor slip and battery alerts seems simple.

Why did it look so worn out when you pulled it out the box? did you already ride it?

I am thrilled that they improved the range, but they left off a lot of things that would have been incredibly easy improvements. Examples: The ability to increase the brightness of the headlight. This could have been a feature in the app. If you are riding at night and don't need the full range, turn the brightness way up. Have more speed warnings. The Pint X should have an audible beep when it's motor is maxing out. The battery bar should also flash red as a visual warning. How about using the battery LEDs as a speedometer so that you can glance down and get some indication of your speed (without having to mess with your phone). How about including the $3.00 charging port plug. And yes - put a front handle under the nose. All of this would be incredibly easy and not expensive at all.

What sucks is this is replacing the XR on their store but the XR I still think is better for multiple reasons. Would be nice if instead of this they just lowered the cost of XR a bit to make way for the new GT and improved water resistance on the XR. Glad I have an XR already. What makes XR better at least for me and prob many: 1. the indent carrying at the front of the board is comfortable and easy to use. 2. The push back isnt so drastic 3. The Look an XR simply looks better once you add everything to it 4. The wider tire aka you feel more like your floating bumps dont effect your rides as much as on the pint. 5. size Its a big board that gets you higher off the ground, IDK if its just me but when I made a swap from a pint to an XR I loved the height difference. 6. Wider stance and foot pads aka more comfortable even stock! 7. Clearance higher up more clearance pint already had bad clearance pint X got fatter bleh

I would say only get the GT if you already have a pint, but going from a pint to the X doesn’t seem worth the minor upgrade , 2mph and a few more miles is just a “new product” but I’m used to crazy stats in a EUC it’s hard to go back to one wheel honestly, but one wheel will always hold a dear spot in my soul they are super cool and shwanky

It should allow you to disable it. And 220min to charge, thats absurd lol. And not full water resistant 👎🏼Seems really overpriced for what it is...

In Europe the prices are even more exasperated and overpriced. The minimum price (without accessory) for Pint X: 1.863$, for GT: 2.809$ ... no surprise that were I live (Spain) there are very few Onewheel. I only see one once and I live in Barcelona ....a place where thousands of electric vehicles circulate ... In my opinion a reasonable price for EU it should be around 1.100$ for Pint X and 1.600$ for GT

Price went up because of inflation and the material shortages, supply line issues, basically all the bullshit that’s breaking the world right now lol. I think that’s why at least. They haven’t said anything that I know of, but the price doesn’t just “go up” on an old product. Nothing changed on it. If these came out a few years ago, the pint would have been $900 or $850 maybe? (Originally $950 I think). Pint X maybe $1100 or $1200.

XR doesn’t really look DIY… the first one wheel was DIY looking lol. XR and One+ Just looks like they’re tanks. super solid… which they are. The pint and pintX look like they will break. I’ve heard they’re pretty tanky too, so I’m sure thats not the case, but thats how they look to me. I hope the new GT is built as well as my One+. Been waiting for something new to come out, since the XR was way too similar to mine. Def gonna get the GT eventually. Wonder if it actually feels faster. They say the top speed is 18 or 19… but its really 15 before pushback. Hopefully the GT will hit more like 18 before pushback. (They say its 20). My one+ has close to 4000 miles on it, went through one tire, replaced it with a treaded Burris (i think? I forget which tire i picked). Had to send it in once because the battery stopped holding a charge, but other than that it’s run amazing this whole time. And although i take care of it, I definitely beat the shit out of this thing. Rain riding, riding in a foot of snow, mud, off road, every day to work for a few years. I hit a pothole once trying to avoid a biker who was not paying attention. I fell off but somehow the throttle stayed on (think my front foot was the last thing off) and the thing drove itself straight up a wall. Literally went up a 90deg wall, straight up 8 or 10 feet and fell on the fender lol…. I rode it home no problem. The one+ (and I’m guessing the XR is the same) is a gosh damn tank. They are incredible. I hope the GT is similar just with all the upgrades and more torque.

Well you complain about price and clearly you are from US, be grateful. Central Europe (CZ) and the price is 1.5x higher in specialized shops. I am considering if ordering it oficially would be less expensive/painful for my bank account (with all the tax and toll charges) or I should take it from the local retailer 😭

600$ electric skateboard has same battery capacity. I guess it's around 250wh. 100$ for motor, 150$ for ESC, 200 for battery + few other parts. The actual cost of the product is around 500$ rest of it we pay for other things. I wish Chinese manufacturer start making these.I hate when company has monopoly and does whatever they want with prices. It's their invention but any other forms of transportation was also someones invention. There is no other product that only one company can make. It's like they have invented a wheel. Pulling some bullshit.

My KS16X is awesome, had it just over 2 mo. Was going to get a one wheel Gt. to take on the beach, but with it not available, learning more about Fm’s history and business practices, I want nothing to do with them. This review has me thinking about rethinking and getting a pintx, cause I still want to beach ride. (Sugar sand, kicks the KS’s butt) Thanks for all the informative videos!

The onewheel pint x in my books gets two thumbs down. They could have done all the updates to the og pint w/ a firmware update. They could have improved the battery just like the quart battery from chibattery. 👎👎🤷🏻‍♂️

1:23 - That part concerned me a bit the first time I saw this video (was concerned about nose-dives and stuff). Now that I know more (for anyone else like me), the device shut off there because he went backwards for a tiny bit, which is another optional easier way to stop the device by just putting the tail down. It can be changed on the app to be able to go backwards without shutting off, in which case you would stop by either hopping off with both feet, or alternatively lifting the rear heel for a bit, if it's not a matter of urgency. I can't see much point in me getting the larger charger for me personally as an individual... there is SO much time for it to be charging when it's not in use (including overnight). That suppose that would just be for people who drain their battery on a long ride and then wait for it to charge back up a bit at some location, to continue on further. Also for people who aren't proactive with charging.

Lol wait, they upped the pint price? 🤣 Like hey we gotta justify this being more expensive, how do we do that? Well let's make the original pint more expensive, nobody will question it dude... The pint x seems cool, but the pint size just isn't for me, the nimbleness just doesn't feel good to me it feels like I'm riding a penny board compared to like a regular popsicle skateboard. Nooooo.. Jimmy why? Why do people hop,on and ride before they charge? You can do one rldamage to your cells f o strain them before they are at peak pressure ( voltage) . Always charge full,before you ride, especially the first time.. that said, bms has come a long way as has cell tech.. perhaps this perspective I offer is dated. My opinionon the looks is that they should offer wood foot pads. I am disappointed in them not making it clear weather or not I can get it wet. They really failed us on that. Also that handle on the bottom is crucial in the way I maneuver in my regular life. I hope the GT has the handle. My onewheel just now having problems, is anyone else experiencing this? I'm 3yrs 1240sh miles in. But around launch time mine has had foot sensor warnings and when I'm just standing on it, it dismounts me.

If a company is going to upgrade a product, they should REALLY upgrade it, not just tweak it a little. I like the XR and never did like Pint, so I'm good.

Out of curiosity would anyone say fm is like the apple of electric rideables Also question I want a electric rideable I’m thinking of getting a pint x I currently have a exway wave which pls no one ever get this thing it was fun but literally stoped after 4 days they sent me a new battery and the new battery doesn’t even work. But I want a rideable that is reliable will last I love riding I plan to use it for my commutes I don’t go anywhere super far so the 12 to 18 range would be great it’s just I want something that will last and it seem at least for me electric skateboards is not reliable I had a maxfind board lasted 7 months and hubs stoped working and couldn’t figure out how to replace them cs wasn’t helpful. Is fm a good company is the pint x a good choice to get
