HVALA Paul !

Great video Paul. Eastern Croatia is beautiful, but my hometown Osijek deserves to be praised also. Especially my former highschool, Gymnasium, which produced two Nobel prise winners Leopold Ružićka and Vladimir Prelog. Let us not forget Tvrđa, and National park Kopački Rit in Baranja. Happy for you to win court case against HTZ.
Thanks again, Paul. I've been visiting Croatia for 25 years now but your suggestions show me that I'm far away from having seen everything worth visiting.
Thank you for talking about Slavonia, it is beautiful place and it deserves advertisement and visibility. I am from small town Valpovo and lived next to beautiful park and castle half my life. Unfortunately i moved to Zagreb for job but I am always happy to visit family there and just walk in peaceful clean air and nature.
Haha thanks. I could talk about Slavonia all day. Here is the trip we did in November 2021 www.total-croatia-news.com/editorial/58263-slavonia-full-of-life
@@PaulBradbury Accent is something that you get early in life so that is normal. But you can always mix English with Cronglish and some old Hvar(Dalmatian) words and sound like native who went outside and came back to Hvar after long life foreign land . something like "Gren Šapiti u Stor" translated in English " I am going to shop in a store" Beutifull video abot Slavonia btw
I am from Slavonija and i agree absolutly with you for me it is one of the most beautyfull country in World and full of culture and history. Thank you very much I enjoy watching it!! 💙👍😀
Thank You for sharing more of Eastern Croatia than just Vukovar. I am first generation, living in Wisconsin,U.S.A. my Dads family is from Vukovar. Very Proud of my Heritage. More proud of the people that defended Vukovar in the war! Even though I was born in Milwaukee, our Family kept our Croatian Heritage. Thanks to the great community of Croatians here! We have the oldest Soccer club in North America. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS .One day I would like to move to Croatia. If only I had enough money I would be there in a Heart Beat. Yes I am a little jealous of you but Very Happy your living in a Beautiful Country with Awesome Peoples!
Thank you so much Paul for promoting Slavonija and Baranja. I would also recommend Papuk Nature and Geo park, Fera vino winery that is active since 1804. And also so many castles in Slavonija and Baranja :)
What about Nature park Papuk that is the only Geo park in Croatia, Jankovac - beautiful forest park, hundreds of kilometers of hiking and bike roads on Psunj & Papuk, Lipik - one of the most beautiful picturesque small town in Croatia with famous State stud farm? Also, Iločki podrumi are the oldest, but best wines from Croatia come from Kutjevo region thet is also worth the visit. It's a shame you didn't mention Požeško-slavonska region at all that also had a lot to offer for more active tourism. This is the best of Osijek, Erdut & Baranja but NOT all Slavonija. Best regards Paul :)
Thanks for your comment. Kutjevo wines are great, but for me (even without the story), I prefer the wines of Ilok. We have many more videos to come and have already featured places like Djakovo. I am just giving my personal impressions. And no, this is not the best of Osijek ,Erdut and Baranja, as it includes Ilok, Vukovar, Otocki Virovi and Vinkovci.
@@PaulBradbury It's not about what you prefer but what really are best winemakers of Croatia. Im looking forward to see what have you done. Keep the good work :)
Excellent video Paul, your knowledge about Croatia is amazing! I live in Zadar and I am mountain type of person so I totally neglected Slavonija and Baranja. Been there briefly very few times, so I didn't know about half of the things you mentioned here, thanks for the tips! Going there gives me that feeling of being a tourist and almost a stranger in my own country
Thank you! Well if you are a mountain person, I can understand why Slavonia is not top of your list, haha, but it is an incredible region. It is a pity that so few locals go there and discover it. It really is an amazing place with fantastic people.
If you already haven't, I recommend you to come to Vinkovci in September during "Autumns of Vinkovci" (Vinkovačke jeseni). The place is packed and there's a lot of activities going on. One of the best and most fun times of the year to be in town.
@@PaulBradbury I see what you mean, and this was purely geographical remark, due to the fact that we (Western Slavonia) were completely left out of this video, so I wish the title was more specific. And regarding (regional or local) branding, oh, we are nowhere near that, if only we had proper national or regional tourist organisation to deal with that🤔.... Until then, we are sticking to traditional, geographic terms. Sorry, I'm just jealous, as you can see :))))😆😆
Dear Paul, your videos are great, you know more about Croatia, that some Croatians does. I went to school in Požega. Now living in Germany, for about 30 years. Požega has this beautiful autumn Festival "Zlatne žice Slavonije", it is worth visiting. Take care, God bless and keep on making videos, we love your content!
hey, pal! Croat living in Canada here. Love your videos. I was born in Slavonski Brod. Thanks for letting the people know about the overlooked part of Croatia, Slavonia! P.S. Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic is from Vinkovci.
I am of Croatian lineage. Unfortunately Croatia was a big disappointment for me. I tried to immigrate but failed as it's a puppet state run by the EU. As I come from mining in Australia I have many qualifications for all types of machinery. The Croatian government don't recognise any of them from Australia but they have plenty of Indians there doing those jobs. Our training would far exceed theirs. I packed up and left. Croatia unfortunately dosen't do much for their diaspora but more for Indians.
Vukovar, I was born there on the banks of the Danube river. But we got outta dodge when I was 3 and hopped it to Australia, I would have been at just the right military age in 1990 to eat some lead if we had stayed.
Thank you for your dedication, you always have excellent points of view and I agree with all the comments on your video, I would add with great respect that people in Croatia are very educated and that is their greatest wealth.
It does not surprise me that these places are largely overlooked. Tourists just do Zagreb or the coast / islands. I will try to check out some of these when I get chance.
Hvala, predivno je to što radite. Sram me je reći da sam tek nekoliko puta u 55 godina života bila u Slavoniji, i to uvijek poslom. Dobila sam želju nakon ovog videa svakako otići kao turist. ❤
@@PaulBradbury I love museums, cultural heritage, etc. What I don't like is wine, hence my comment. I love the eastern part of Croatia, don't get me wrong, but Ican't stand the taste of wine so I couldn't care less for Ilocki podrumi and similar :)
RESPECTED! THANK YOU FOR SUCH A BEAUTIFUL DESCRIPTION OF MY HOMELAND! THERE ARE MANY, MANY MORE UNDISCOVERED TREASURES OUT THERE! DALJ IS MY BIRTHPLACE
@@PaulBradbury it's not really true, Tesla's family are all ethnic Serbs (his dad was even a Serbian orthodox priest.) However, he was indeed born and raised in Croatia, but it is common even to this day for various Croatians citizens to recognise themselves as serbians due to their ancestry. But never mind that, really good video on a fascinating region of a breathtaking nation!
Haha, i I told you I made a whole video dedicated to Ilocki Podrum, would you forgive me? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NhFvlJ1Jm98.html
@@PaulBradbury my bad.. hope you check out western Slavonia too, many history, also excelent wine production and amazing nature full of hills and forests that are even closer to zagreb
Slavonia was suffering the Serbian agression in the 90th and then had to survive the post communist political party called HDZ which did also very bad things to the economy and the people. Thanks God, thinks are now getting better and thanks to UE market the economy has more chances and opportunities to exist. Beautiful region, nice people, GOD bless them all.
@@PaulBradbury Serbia and Serbians, because of 500 years slavery under the Ottomans have a big history hole,. This hole they try to fill stealing the history from neighbouring countries, Croatia and Montenegro. Mostly from Croatia. Many Croats, because of terror and censorship in ex Yugoslavia have fallen on this Serbian propaganda believing that Tesla and Milenkovic were Serbians. So many people in Croatia are still believing in this yugo and Serbian "history"! That is a very big problem in Croatia. Of course, there is much of ignorance too!
