@@masterbspace yea alot of companies pay the bulk of a employee's money in bonuses for, sales our reviews in the industry so games never releasing hurts their wallet as well.

Seriously. Putting all that time and effort into something only for it never get to see the light of day. I think Devs should be allowed to release whatever they have of something if it gets cancelled. Videos, screenshots, all that kind of stuff. I wouldn't go as far as to ask for all the assets to be released cause that would be crazy. But at least let us get a glimmer of what could have been. Could be good marketing also, to allow the audience to gauge what was and see if we would have liked it.

As the video game industry gets bigger, it's important for indie developers to really get things out there. Mainstream companies will always have executive decisions (and rightfully so, for better or for worse) and it's unfortunate for games not to be released because "maybe" it wouldn't make money. For the mainstream devs and publishers, I think we're past the point of just hiding content from us. Maybe there is a way for them to show us the cancelled games and why they were cancelled. Show it to us and to some reviewers. At least it provides closure for many of us curious and hurt by these cancellations.

I still remembered when a friend of mine who had introduced me to the battlefront series, told me what the third installment would be like, it's probably the first time I got hyped for a game release, it's such a bummer that lucas sold out to disney and we lost this potentially great game and instead got an ea watered down version of it

At this point, there have been so many indie games based on PT, as soon as I see a house environment with a looping map, I roll my eyes. I pretty much know exactly what to expect at that point.

House Beneviento in Resident Evil Village is the closest thing to a P.T experience you can get right now. That section of the game was one of the most terrifying experiences ive had in gaming.

That pirates of the Caribbean game was such a tragedy. It was announced hot off of fable 2 being as good as it was so i was desperate for a pirates fable experience lol

Somehow it had completely flown under my radar until this video, a pirate Fable would be fantastic. I just tried to play Fable 3, gave it a good 8 hours or so before ditching it, I just don't like it at all it's missing everything that I felt made the first two special in particular any sense of adventure or magic, I've never been able to scratch that itch Fable 1 & 2 left.

Full throttle : Hell on Wheels. I am so disappointed that fell through, the original Full throttle was such a big part of my childhood gaming experience, and I was so hyped for the sequel.

This one definitely doesn't fall into the "overhyped" category but I was really hoping for the next installment of Golden Sun after Dark Dawn since the ending was literally a massive cliffhanger. Sucks but I doubt that series will ever come back again.

Yeah it kinda sucks because Camelot isn’t really a thing anymore. Golden Sun was never a super popular series but did well enough for Nintendo to be okay with greenlighting a more expensive sequel on the DS, which wound up doing the worst in the series overall, seemingly killing it.

Most of the Staff that worked on the series left after Dark Dawn, they also mentioned they didn't have the passion for more JRPGs and wanted to do other games.

Firefly Online was a game that I was really hyped for. As a brown coat, the chance for any new content is exciting. And this was the chance for us to be captains of our very own ships, traveling the vers. They even announced the show’s original cast would be voicing their characters. Then news went silent on it.

Honestly I really appreciate the way Nintendo came out to say that they had restarted development on Metroid Prime 4. As rigid and backwards Japanese studios can sometimes be, this was a nice and honest message.

Yeah, they did it with Ocarina of Time, too. It was meant to come out earlier than it did but they weren't happy with it and delayed it until the end of the year to make some tweaks. Compare that to games coming out today absolutely broken and in need of day one and beyond patches, and everyone apparently being fine with that.

The "some issues" was Fallout '76. Nintendo saw how a single player made MMO failed, found out that the studio making Metroid Prime 4 was following the exact same concept, panicked, and then restarted work with the original studio. Good call on Nintendo's part.

Speaking of Amy Hennig, I'm curious what HER version of Uncharted 4 was going to be like. Apparently they were already pretty far into development, including months worth of VA and mocap work, before it got canned, Hennig got fired, and ND started over again. The only thing I heard was you were going to be able to play at least part of it like GTA V where you could switch between the major characters.

Well, at least we got in some sort of way Pirates of the Caribbean game in Kingdom Hearts 3. Which had a small open world map of sea with island to explore, and indeed, naval combat. May not be the exact same thing, but somewhat close.

On Human Heads old website their was a text under Prey 2 that said something along the lines of “ while Prey 2 was cancelled, we at Human Head studios remain incredibly proud of the work that was put into developing what we still believe is an amazing game” and it makes me sad how Zenimax ran them in to the ground pushing back the release for quality standards when they refused a buyout of their studio.

That's an easy question to answer for me "Dark Born" looked amazing and the concept of actually playing a creature from early youth to adult sounded crazy good. But it breaks my heart to see this team "The Outsiders" leave this project. I really hope they workout the issue and take another stab at the project, I think it would be easily funded on Kickstarter or Fig.

Remember "Project Offset"? I remember seeing footage and trailers for that game for years and then intel announced that they were cancelling it back in like 2008 or 2009. I was so bummed out at the time because the gameplay footage they shared and the graphics quality for the time looked absolutely amazing.

I haven't had luck finding it but i remember Remedy was making a game before they folded years ago that eventually became Alan Wake. It was a first person shooter and over the top and i remember i was so fascinated with it. I'd adore seeing that gameplay footage again!

I ebayed it along with most of my other Blizzard swag when I was out of work for a while. But I used to have one of the holographic Blizzcon promo mouse-pads for Starcraft Ghost. While I was never a developer, Blizzard used to do these internal 'what are we doing' presentations & I got to see some assets and video that were never as far as I know released to the public for Ghost. I saw a few very early art assets for Titan, before Blizz cancelled that one too.

I remember waiting for Ghost as kid. I loved the first Star Craft but was more a fan of shooters, Ghost was gonna be the best of both worlds. Truly a heartbreak. Unfortunately with what Blizzard has become I don't expect to ever see something similar.

My game that was canceled and really hurt was World of Darkness from CCP. The creators of Eve Online making a MMO in my favorite setting. And it seemed like they really did something special/different with the systems instead of simply slapping a vampire skin over a generic MMO.

Huxley. Oh man, Huxley... It was gonna come out when Xbox Live and console internet connectivity was a pretty new thing. An MMOFPS, where you chose a faction and a continent (yeah, this game was going to have an entire Earth like world) and you'd fight FPS-styles to take over areas like countries, and then continents. There were also vehicles so add that kind of combat in and the ability to have thousands of people online at all times all over the world fighting for your faction. I was so freaking stoked for probably a decade, but after the end of the OG Xbox era and most of the 360 era I realized it wasn't going to see the light of day... Shitty. I think it became some kind of South Korean FPS, but I still think about how cool that could've been.

I read the Starcraft Ghost tie in novel. It was pretty good. Only makes me more sad we don't get to see Nova in action. Also: Did we ever find out what happened to Routine? It looked SO GOOD!! Sci Fi horror was always right up my street!!

I remember a game advertised a few years ago where you played as a creature in a cave & had to work your way up the food chain & eventually battle humans. Sounded like fun!

The Getaway 3 for PS3. I remembered some people bashed GTA IV for the cancellation of Getaway 3. I was really looking forward to buying it.

Megaman Legends 3 :( Megaman Legends was the first 3D Megaman and when it came out, my life was... depressing, but this and Legends 2 got me through it. I was even part of a group that got over 100k people to claim a desire to play it. I'm still more than peeved Capcom keeps thinking we need yet another Resident Evil game or otherwise none Megaman game. they own the Rights and just sit on it, that's the most insulting part about it. plenty of us can be salty about it but one day the only ideas they will have are ones they abandoned... on a moon.

I wouldn’t say I was hyped more excited for Darkborn. A game where you play as the monster in an elder scrolls style world. The trailer showed combat that was a bit clunky, but it seemed like it had a lot of potential. I was pretty bummed when I found out it was cancelled 😞

@@toobig7150 Yea, Valve is, from what I know a private company, with half life their own original game. And also a publisher. AND also we got a snippet of half life 3 (did i spoil too much?) so I don't believe that there isn't hope since things seem to be going particularly well for valve. Unless they pull a classic silence move again or outright cancel any form of half life 3 there isn't much to say

There was supposed to be a free-to-play shooter game called Renegade Line, which was funded by Kickstarter, though eventually just got abandoned by its' devs citing ''Corona'' as an excuse. The game was supposed to fill the gap that was left when the (hopelessly pay to win) Battlefield Heroes was closed, with a good bunch of ex-developers joining the project. However, nowadays basically all of the money is gone, the page doesn't exist anymore and all the devs have left the respective discord server, never officially cancelling the project.

The words multi-player and co-op give the chills in a lot of players because they think companies should focus on solo play only. Yeah, look how well cyberpunk turned out to be... Single player only or multi-player don't make games good or bad. Keep that in mind

You look how well the ambitious and incredible game (on PC at least, lol you PS4 peasant) turned out to be. Idiot. Also f*** multiplayer but there is an incredible lack of and associated desire for co-op story based games ever since split-screen has almost disappeared. Not that someone as dumb as you will ever experience it but married folk like myself love to team up and play with our partners.
