I In this video, I share 10 practical quilting supplies you can pick up at your local hardware store. that will help you with your quilting. #quilting #quiltingtips My workbench: www.homedepot....
I love how you just jumped right in and started showing the items, and then you moved so smoothly to the next one without any filler ! You got right to the point but in a friendly, helpful way. 🙏🏻
I use a rubber mallet that was a gift from being one of the first people into a sewing festival. It works great for the sewing room. Lighter than a hammer and easier on the fabric.
I used to take my Yorkie every where even hardware stores he loved riding in the cart with his hair blowing back it was some of his favorite times. His name was Rhett Butler yes that Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind!! I really like the Kolbalt tool box great idea!! Thank you!!
Thank you for your ideas and presentation. I use the magnetic cup to hold screws, needle plate, little sewing machine screw driver, plastic drop-in bobbin cover, etc. when I clean my bobbin case and area. Even if an item is not magnetic, it goes into the cup to keep everything together. I gave one to my quilting sister for Christmas. “Every Girl Needs One.” She loves hers too.
I have the same Home Depot cutting table by Husky. I chose the version without the drawers as I thought they might get in the way if I used the table while seated. I chose white just like you did. And the price was about $100 cheaper than a similar item at Ikea.
Very good ideas. I could suggest you pick up a wooden wallpaper seam roller. So good for opening seams and point flattening. I think you could do a whole video on all the uses one could find for this small but versatile tool. And it is super cheap!
Good idea! Thank you for sharing. I will have to check it out! I am currently using an old roller that came with some face cream. 😂 that is working pretty well.🌻
I LOVE my local Harbor Freight store for sewing supplies...It's like a candy store to me! Small ratchet screwdriver for removing the stitch plate; Seam roller in the paint department, tool bag (on sale with a coupon for $11; small round brushes for getting into crevices for lint. Lots of goodies for sewists there!
Harbor Freight is my favorite place for storage. I love the black containers that are $2.99. They have a clear front that tilts open and they stack. I store pins, clips, needles (for my machines), etc. Also, the screw and bolts drawer containers are perfect for buttons or hardware storage. I only quilt for bags.
I have several of the parts magnet trays, they are often on special. Those magnets actually hold pins instead of the fancy plastic ones in fabric stores for nearly 5 times the price!!
Me Too! I bought the magnetic bowls from there for $2 each on sale. My long arm has metal bars and metal sides. The magnets on the bowls are really strong and have never had them fall off or any of the needles or pins fall off. Also great for putting the screws from the needle plate when cleaning or clearing the needle/bobbin area. And I also bought small, stubby screw drivers from there. BTW, I just subscribed!
Thank you for this video! I also purchased an LED light strip that you cut to length and put it under the throat of my sewing machine. The adhesive is great. Also a locking needle nose plier (hemostats in the medical world). Several different handles for my rulers. From hardwood cutoffs I made my own clappers, over 2 inches thick. Cost me nothing. A large drywall square. Etc. Saved so much money and made my life easier!
Love the mini Kobalt tool chest in so many colors. $20 on Lowes website. Just adorable and functional. Harbor Freight has many of these items too. I find the magnetic bowls handy for quilting travel. No stray pins and needles. And dropped pins are easily retrieved from the floor with it. I keep it in a plastic bag with seam ripper and small scissors. New subscriber.
I enjoy using a tackle box to house my sewing/quilting supplies. I bought it many years ago; it has a flip open top, but then the bottom flips open separately and has handy little containers in it which I can use to further subdivide my supplies.
Thank you for sharing! It is great! Love the flexibility! I have it paired up with my other table in the room now to finish up my collage quilt project. 🌻
I love the inspiration! I'm gonna get a proper work bench now. Sewing tables are crazy expensive, but I found a good work bench with pegboard back, drawers, and a light for less than $200!
Watching a second time so I can see the intro again.0:11 An adorable dog and pleasant music!🌻 Great supplies suggestions, as well. 🛍️ Also, I want (but may not need) the Kobalt storage drawers. 6:42 I just checked online and all the colors are in stock at my local Lowe’s.
Thank you so much! 🌻 I was looking for an opening and had taken that shot when I was out researching and getting video shots. It was so cute at the time. So was thrilled when the idea came to me on how I could use it and I could make the transition make sense. Thank you for your continued support of my channel ! 🌻 I really appreciate it!
That large ruler is a great idea. I use my dining table for my cutting table so, it will definitely work for me. I shop at Lowe's (it's closer to my house) and I also have the Kobalt toolbox🤩. I also use painters' tape too. I love your work bench. I would have taken that route if I had thought about it. My husband made my sewing table for me. I also bought insulation foam for my design board. I have one board in each room. Since they are very tall, I put them on their sides. Thanks for the extra tips!😊
I love the hardware stores or depts!! You have given some ideas even U didn't know about. I subscribed & look forward to catching up on youe previous videos.
Those ideas are brilliant! Thank you for posting this video. I came across your channel at random but now I'm going to explore what other videos you have. I love finding new ways to do things, especially when it comes to sewing. Subscribed!
I have a small craftsman hammer with a plastic head in my toolbox! Found it at a yard sale years ago! I had my own toolbox for many years to keep my stuff separate from hubs ! He wasn't a great DIY person 😂 Same with wallpaper roller ! Love my tape too! 🎉
I need the magnetic bowl...the bigger the better. I have a tendency to fling them somewhere in the general area of my small magnetic pin cushion and then picking them up from all over the floor and table for where I missed
Love your hints about the hardware store! I am off to get several of the items that solve a problem I am having in my sewing room. FYI … not a complaint but just wanted you to know that when a viewer is using earphones like AirPods your intro is in Stereo but your content only comes out of the left speaker. I thought it was my AirPods but when I watch other channels the sound is balanced. I have noticed this in the past with other RU-vid channels so it must be some way the content is recorded or edited for RU-vid.
Thank you for the feedback much appreciated! My mic settings must have reverted back. I’ll have to make sure I double check before posting again. Thanks for letting me know! Truly appreciate it. 😀So happy to hear you enjoyed the video! 🌻
I lived in London for two years and have a friend who’s a fellow quilter in the UK. I’ll check with her and see if she has any sources I could share. Thank you for watching !🌻
I got a long metal ruler from the hardware store but I can't get the glue off from the label, so it is too sticky. I can't use it on fabric yet. Any suggestions?
You could try using some nail polish remover on a cotton ball. That’s what I use for stick labels. Once off I give it a good wash in the spot to get rid of any residual acetone. 🌻
Before removing labels/price tags I blow dry the item on high until label heats up and I can easily peel it off. If that fails I use Goo Be Gone which isn't cheap but is effective.
Thank you for watching!🌻 I added it to my description. Here it is as well. 😀www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-52-in-W-x-24-in-D-Steel-2-Drawer-Adjustable-Height-Solid-Wood-Top-Workbench-Table-in-White-HOLT5202BJ2/311742117
