This video is intended solely for entertainment purposes. As an adult, you are capable of making your own purchasing decisions. Please approach it with a light-hearted attitude and continue to enjoy VR hardware, as I am super excited about the future of VR. Seeing Apple now joining is awesome.
Hi there! You mentioned an alternative to AVP since i have quest 3, if I want to watch movies on smart glasses. What is that brand again? Sorry I forgot which video you mentioned that at.
It's not the most expensive VR headset. Hell, you have the Varjo XR-3 that cost over $6,500, and Apple's Vision Pro makes it and others look like relics. Plus, it's worth every penny being another first gen Apple product as it will be worth a fortune in later years. Just look at the insane auction sales for a first gen iPhone.
I would argue it's closer to $5,000. You'll want the Apple Care insurance, and the accessories and after taxes it's not $3,500 anymore. If you don't have $5,000 to spend on what is essentially a luxury device, probably shouldn't buy it.
as a person who likes watching sports, I was expecting it would be like being in the stadium immersive experience & not "just" watching a big floating screen with lots of stats on the sides.
Honestly I don’t see any useful case for this except having a big screen for your Mac . Instead you can get a cheaper but better Quest 3 which is compatible with Pc and Mac and play the latest VR games + a huge library of useful apps .
Not being able to view VR360 and VR180 content is a definite deal breaker for me. They should at least have a web browser that supports immersive playback like in the Quest 3. Perhaps they may add that feature down the road, but the Vision Pro isn't ready for primetime as is. I'll most likely wait to see what the 2nd gen unit looks like, so I'll stick to my Quest 3 for now. Thanks for your honest review!
You must be a really huge fan of RU-vid 360° video, if you actually considered dropping USD 3500+ on a first generation Apple HMD offering 8K 180° stereoscopic "Immersive video" via AppleTV, but not being able to watch VR180 on RU-vid is a definite dealbreaker. RU-vid/Google salutes you for keeping up your standards, at least until they allow their iPad app to run on AVP with stereo content enabled, or a Samsung competitor based on Android is released. That's true dedication, not just Quest 3 post-purchase rationalization by cherry picking something random it can do the AVP can't do yet.
There are only a few reasons why to buy should be the Apple Vision and a TONS for not to. 1 one to buy IF you can create multi-screen for edit and other software and the eco-system. For everything else the Meta 3 is just a better buy because of price, tons of games, not heavy, you can actually work out with it and the video quality is great. Watching movies with some cool 360 movie theaters with friends is just amazing with the Quest 2 and Quest 3. In fact better then going to the movies. For $100 used Quest 2 you can not beat that. Also, the Persona that Meta is coming out with looks real to a point that is scary.
I hate how apple basically copy other companies sometime better this is basically a quest pro but with a apple coat of paint and now its revolutionary technology
I'm thinking probably 1/3 returns. Probably everyone who bought it knowing they can't afford it but bought it anyways for the experience and to try it out. Even if they liked it enough to want to keep it, they can't afford to keep it. Tech reviewers who bought them will probably keep theirs, they'll need it for continuing coverage and it's a tax write-off anyways. I think the experience will be addictive enough even for a 1st gen device, that most people who actually can afford it without budgetary issue will keep theirs.
Great review!! I always try to check out your reviews vs some of the other bigger RU-vidrs since you seem to be more like me regarding practicality, quality, cost and usability. With that all said… you mentioned no media apps yet, does this include missing Apple+? I agree in my opinion this is very much typical Apple creating a new product based on preexisting products from competitor's, with some “Apple Sugar” ( currently $5.38/gram). The iPhone was released with no MMS, 3G, BT2.x, few apps and was also very expensive compared to competitors. At the time I worked for the current mobile phone market leader Nokia (had 40% global mobile phone market). We laughed our asses off at Nokia such a toy of a phone at the time. However, we all know how that turned out ;) However, in hindsight I would say the first iPhone was a developer device despite Apple releasing it as mainstream product. Not saying that the Vision Pro will follow a similar development and improvement cycle, just saying like you said this is the first of a new Apple product. So I would also not recommended anyone buying this first version. Just keep an eye on what Apple and the industry does in this sector. It could be very interesting for all companies in this segment. Competition is always good for us consumers, let the VR/Spatial Computing wars begin!!
Agree 💯, this is a public beta (cash to blow) & developer device to prepare software and figure out it’s real world use cases for future iterations of the device, waiting to see where this technology will go in next 3-5yrs now that Apple is in the game
Thank you for your honest review! As a very late adopter of the quest I am so glad I bought my quest 3 for Xmas last year and the picture quality is mind blowing! Apple made me really mad with the price of this headset and it almost seems arrogant and I’m hoping more people hold out on buying a Vision Pro to let them know that it’s not ok!
You want them to lower they're standards in comparison to low quality head sets that you have used that's def not apples way of doing things they know what's best
But what makes this better? 2d screens in vr, is pretty disappointing imo. I honestly don’t get what you should do with this. Also shitty fov which is inexcusable for a 3500 headset. Also a battery in your pocket doesn’t make any sense and no game support is also pretty sad.
