10 Reasons Why I chose the BMW 650i over M6 

I just love the 650i GC, looks beautiful and drives like nothing else

drove both of them today. both gran coupe m6 & 650. also a M4, you're right about the insurance. If you live up north it's a no Brainer as far as what to choose. I live in Florida so that doesn't really matter. As far as performance goes I don't think the 650 feels close to the m6. feels more like the m4 as far as pull. Now I disagree with the comfort. M6 has very soft comfort setting just like the 650i. the difference to me I believe in the feel is probably from the wheels. m6 has much bigger and staggered wheels so with the low pro tires you're going to feel more of the road then the 650i wheels which are usually very thick. sunroof is cool but it's not a big deal to me like you said I prefer no sun roof but that's just because the sun beams here in Florida and you can really feel it even with the sunroof closed. But again that's a preference. I'm definitely with you on those lights they're 🔥🔥 me umma go with the m6. I been doing my research including this video and I'll take the m6 GC over 650i GC and M4. thanks for the insurance tip cause I completely forgot about that. definitely got to add that to the budget 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾💯

If you're comparing engines, the S63TU (built by the M division) is a fully forged engine with different turbos and the N63TU (550i engine) is not. despite both being 4.4l twin-turbo engines they're very different.

I just bought 2017 650i and I'm 100% happy with the purchase. Its a stunning looking car, mine is all black all the way and it's a head turner

Thanks for review. Ive been stuck between a 650i vs M6 for a while. Feel the AWD factor tips it in favor of 650i personally. I do alot of driving from Toronto to Jersey/Philly and thats not a fun winter route with a RWD.

One of my reason for buying a 650 was the lights too bro. I saw one pull up behind me one day and that was the thing that made me fall in love tbh. I mean it’s. Sexy and beautiful car all l around but those lights for real look sick!

Got the 550xi instead of M5 myself. As a daily driver it is waaay more comfortable and has pretty much the same power 0-60. Unless you are a professional race track driver an average person wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Matter of fact they would prefer these car's over the M cars because of their comfort.

I live in NY and chose my 650I over an M6. Personally I think the 650 is better overall too. Plus AWD makes sense when its cold 6 months out of the year.

I agree these things make so much power for so little in upgrades, i think these are major sleepers

Great review..I currently have the 640i xdrive with the M sport pkg, executive pkg, driver assistance plus, M sport edition. Absolutely love it, was looking at the 650i as well but heard and read so many reviews about the issues with the 4.4 so decided on the 3.0. Also, didn’t really need the extra hp for my daily driver as I also have a Equus with 429hp stock if I want to feel some extra hp. Had an 03 M3 a few years back and wish I didn’t get rid of it so went n got the 640i. It is definitely a sexy car and gets a lot of looks and compliments. Again..great review on the 650i.

Yeh need the sunroof too. Looking for a 650i in the color i want at the moment (grey metallic and nice interiour).

2014 650i once out of warranty, tuned to 529hp at the wheels, amazing but I'll never find out the top end.

There is another possible reason: the M6 does have the black panel with the digital cockpit. As for myself living in Europe... I chose the 640i instead of the 650i, almost for the same reasons you evocate. But the main one is the front weight. I did not want the front weight to be heavy and I understood they behave very differently because of this. In all cases these 6 series are so well designed...

Pretty sure the coupe also has back seats. They even brought over the same coupe front seats with the buttons behind the seatbelts into the grand coupe. Coupe and Grand Coupe models also both have the exact same trunk space.

Most people probably will or have given you flack about your reasons. People need to remember, these are "your reasons", which is different from "declaring why the 650 is better than the M6".

The Gran Coupe didn't "add two more seats in the back". The 6 series coupe has back seats.

Coupe and grand coupe both have back seats lol they just extend the wheel base and add rear leg room. I agree on 90% of everything else , my 650 is smoking M6 off the line and roll because I'm at 600hp lol

There is more than the HP that makes the engine better in the M6 than the 650

I have a 650i x drive the m sport package & my buddy has the m6 we can’t really tell any difference but maybe it’s the driver because I always I mean always beat him honestly 🤷🏽‍♂️💯but overall I love my car I most definitely understand why you choose the 650 as well and I had the 750 first .!

There's no comparison between the two. Apples to oranges. You drive an M car for the experience and how exhilarating it is, not for soft suspension and mpg.

I've owned two models from the 6 series lineup, the M6 and the 650i, in order. The M6 is wayyy to overpowered for everyday driving, it's as bad as a Mustang. Good luck if it starts raining. The 650i with xDrive gives you enough confidence to do triple digits in the rain. It's perfectly tailored for effortless driving. It has enough power to stroll around town effortlessly, take long trips in confidence, and provide you with a perfect blend of luxury and performance making you feel like it doesn't need anymore power, but heaven forbid it have any less. That's where the 640i was lacking for me. The 640i is the one you get when you love the look of the car but want an average performing car. To me this option is like having a multi-million dollar home with Bob's Discount Furniture.

The main reason I want the 650i is because of the sunroof lol, and how can you forget the digital dash display. M6 speedometer looks a bit dated. Both are great cars tho!

Lol I'm still so confused because some people say s63 engines in m6 aremore robust but thn 650i has that awd factor, too and i think it might have air suspension, too . I was thinking of buying m6 gran coupe and then buying a cheap 4*4 SUV for winters lol

Nice video, those arguments make sense if you live in germany and where there is on big parts no speed limit on the autobahn. But I do not see the point in driving the 650i in the states. The 650i was made for the autobahn and for speeds above 200kph. The M6 was made for the track (and the autobahn). So I guess it makes more sense buying an m6 in the states, since you have no autobahn but racing tracks. If you don’t drive on the track than why buy a car with above 400hp if you are not allowed to use more than half of the available power anyways🤷🏼‍♂️. Don’t get me wrong, I really like both cars and I would go for the 650i too out of some of the reasons you mentioned, but it is hard for me to imagine enjoying those cars with those heavy speed limits you have in the states🤷🏼‍♂️✌🏻🦦.

650i is a sweet spot of BMW . Still a v8 and luxury yacht . M6 is for people who have extra money and want something with ALOT more power .

What it really comes down to (for u) 1 thru 10 is the price. That's what I got out of this.

There are 650 gran coupes with all wheel drive running 10.7 in the quarter and 0-60mph in 2.8 seconds without rollout with just tune and downpipes. M6 is useless without xdrive.

Also 650 sounds so much better then m6 once straight piped lol

There is not a single reason to prefer a 650i to an M6. They are different worlds in every way, an M is an M, above the fuel consumption does not differ much and in performance it pulverizes the 650i in any measurement. I don't understand you...

You should probably do the talking while not driving because you're struggling. There were so many statistical errors in this video, maybe that stems from being distracted while driving. And I find it hard to believe that your insurance is $350 to $450 for a 650i or M6. Couldn't even finish this video, that's how lousy it was...sorry to be so critical but maybe the criticism will help you.

So... you buy a 650i and make it look like a wannabee M6 with four fake exhausts. Insurance is really INSANE!! Overhere the cars are more expensive, but the insurance is like 25% of yours! 450,=? Really? I'm paying around 110,=! And tickets don't matter for your insurance. The prices are calculated based on accidents and claimed damage. What the heck has it to do with tickets?

I've always been a coupe guy and loved coupes, but I really think the 4 door fits this long body style more. I've been looking into getting a 2014 6 series recently. Definitely will be getting one.

Got a F10 550 MSport and an M6 GC and there is no doubt in my mind that the power of the s63 over the n63 is absolutely thrilling. That said I love them both but they both have their niche for driving style.

The n63 v8's in the 550i and 650i's are total grenades. THe s63tu in the m6 comes with improved pistons, crankshaft, and a plethora of other modifications including a 10:1 compression ratio. Plus you have a DCT transmission and 6 piston brakes. Its at supercar level and the the 650i can not be compared to the m6 whatsoever.

I have a 650i tuned (550hp) and its perfect for a daily driver.. Its veeery fast and it sounds even better than the M6... I think the 650i is very close to the M6, cheaper maintenance and less consume. I also have sunroof!

I think some of these 650's look better than the 8 series. Or at least some of them do. I'm hoping to get one this summer. Can't wait!

I agree wholeheartedly. I have the 650i xDrive Coupe, and it was tempting to get an M6, but I worried about the longevity of the engine in the M6, since it's roughly the same engine with a few mods for the higher performance. No xDrive option in the M6 took it off my list as well. It's faster with the xDrive 0-60 than without, and finally, M cars are now available with it. Maybe next car will be the 8 series (M850ix), but there's something about the styling of the rear end of that car that isn't great. BMW nailed the styling of the 6 series, with its clean sleek lines, but the 8 series I'm still getting used to.....

I went through the same decisions. I knew I was going to lower the coupe on 22’s and felt I’d be doing the m6 a disservice. Still have some remorse though lol
