Cool place! Red Deer is named after the river it sits on. The British traders translated as “Red Deer River” as they mistakenly assumed that Elk was the European red deer!😊👏
@@jct6021 Yes. Been there twice. Most people talk about Calgary and Edmonton but Red Deer is the city right in between. Red Deer doesn't get enough love. World Junior Ice Hockey Championships start in Red Deer this week. Big Tourney. USA team should be really good. Hope you are feeling festive!!! Thank you for watching!
I knew it right in the middle. What is the highway that connects all three? I heard the World Junior Hockey is coming back this summer. Thank you for watching!
I have heard of this place, The Guess Who mentioned it in their song, Running Back To Saskatoon(1972). Moose Jaw, Broadview, Moosomin too, Runnin' back to Saskatoon, Red Deer, Terrace, Hanna, Medicine Hat...... Merry Christmas my friend !🎅🎄
Guess Who are one of the best Canadian bands! Classic Rock! We probably listened to the same radio stations growing up and watched the same TV channels. Lots of snow on the ground and very cold this morning. Starting to feel like Christmas. Hope you are enjoying the sun and sand while I shovel the driveway. The World Junior Hockey tourney is in Red Deer and Edmonton this week. Thank you for watching!
Red Deer is home to a variety of musicians who provide live entertainment at numerous venues, eg. The Vat, Bo's, The Velvet Olive and productions at the Red Deer Memorial Centre.
Red Deer has been ranked 12th in Canada’s Best Places to Live in 2018 n 4th overall in Alberta according to MoneySense!👏. Red Deer’s economy is diversifying with the arts, culture, recreation and sport among the industries accounting for the best growth in the City in recent years. 😊👍
Thank you. You are the second person to say that. If I make another video I will correct that. Greetings from Ontario. Hope you are well. Thank you for watching!
@@3sanjeevIt has a solid "oil town" vibe. If you have money, there is a lot to do. If not, you can still enjoy the vast system of nature trails; walking or biking around doesn't disappoint. City amenities (libraries and recreation centres) are pretty remarkable too, for this size of town, and having Sylvan Lake nearby allows for an instant sense of "holiday" if one cannot do actual vacations.
Christenson's Senior's Living on the Timberstone way is a great asset to the city of Red Deer, It's a wonderful and comfortable living place for the senior citizens, Another big thing, in Red Deer, is the acquiring of a suitable area of land for the construction of a religious temple 【called Gurdwara】 for the Sikh community, This is quite comforting, Thanks
I left Toronto for Red Deer in 1980. Best decision I ever made. Great place to raise a family and now retirement is in my near future. I'm here to stay!
@@marksmobilemw oh wow. Wasn't Toronto nice place back in 80s? By now u must be having multiple homes in RD. What 4 main things better in Red Deer than Toronto. Thanks
It’s so disappointing to hear the World’s Juniors Hockey is cancelled due to omicron! 😔. Canada was doing so well! I hope they are able to resume in the summer! Keep safe!
@@spawn11 it's probably *more safe than Toronto, but our homeless population has increased dramatically over the past few years, as I'm sure it has everywhere. The city is slated for a large addiction treatment centre, but I'm not sure if that will make our situation worse or better, tbh.
@@spawn11 Blackfalds is more of a bedroom community of Red Deer, with lots of young families. It's only a 10 minute drive into town. Lacombe has its own unique municiple identity. It is really pretty, but I can't speak to its "vibe." South of us is Springbrook and Penhold, which are quaint communities, partly utilized as bedroom communities. Innisfail is about as far south as Lacombe is north (25 min), and likewise more separate from the Greater Red Deer area. Personally, if I was looking to buy a home and settle in, I would consider Penhold. I suspect the channel owner would have much more input on the pros and cons of Penhold though.
@@spawn11 oh and yes, I have been a local resident from 2007 - 2012, and then again from 2019 - present. I came back to attend the college -- now polytechnic -- and I offer that it is a great place to get a post secondary education and a good reason to move here, in and of itself.
