I don't know who needs to hear this but know that whenever you feel alone, God is with you. Whenever you feel like you're unimportant, God's got all His eyes on you. Whenever you feel like everybody has forgotten about you, God remembers and thinks of you. You may not see Him but He sees you. He's eagerly waiting for you to notice him and to start a loving father-child relationship with you. He'll never fail you. He for sure never failed me. He's real and alive! God bless whoever reads this and may you overcome all your struggles, sorrows and receive spiritual, mental and physical healing. In Jesus' name. Amen.

1. Using too much heat. 2. Not deep conditioning ( do it twice a month) 3. Detailing dry hair ( do it when wet or w/ conditioner) 4. Styling hair too often ( once a week is enough) 5. Too much tension or tight/pulling or uncomfortable hairstyles. 6. Poor diet & not enough water. 7. Moisturize hair & tip of hair 8. Stimulate scalp 9. Use products for specifically for your hair 10. Protect your hair w/ silk or satin.

Mistakes and in parentheses the recommendation: 1) using too much heat (extend the time between heat styling or eliminate it altogether) 2) not deep conditioning regularly (do it twice a month) 3) detangling hair when it's dry (detangle when hair is wet and with conditioner) 4) styling hair too often (protective styles such as buns, twists, braids etc) 5) styles that cause too much tension (dont choose styles that are too tight) 6) what you eat (increase water intake, eat more fresh fruits and vegetables 7) not moisturizing hair especially the ends (moisturize that hair gurl) 8) no scalp stimulation ( massage your head with your moisturizer) 9) using the wrong products (choose products that make your hair feel and look good) 10) not protecting hair when sleeping ( use silk or satin scarf or pillowcases)

Please understand that what works for one may not work for others. Examples, Biotin grows the hell out of my nails but does nothing for my hair. Rice water damaged my hair but it grew my youngest daughter's hair 2 inches in a month. I have not personally tried Aloe Vera yet but it did nothing for my oldest daughter's hair. Also, I eat a healthy diet and drink alot of water-still no difference in hair growth and retention. That is why RU-vid is such a great forum so everyone can research, listen to other natural's routine and that way you can experiment to see what works for you.

I had short shoulder hair my whole life I thought I was just destined to have short, dry, broken hair. However, I was ABUSING my strands with heat (even when my hair was dirty), relaxers, tight braids, you name it. I had never moisturized my hair or even knew what deep conditioner was. My "hair care" consisted of shampoo maybe every two months and 5 mins of a random conditioner. Never got trims. In April/May, I decided to turn it around. I got a good trim. I have been washing and deep conditioning every 2 weeks. Wearing styles that protect my natural hair that are NOT tight at all. I have been heat free and the breakage has really reduced. I haven't noticed any serious growth yet but my hair is not dry any more and it does not break nearly as much. Before, I used to comb my hair and my shirt would be covered in little broken hairs. Now its healthy and moisturized and hopefully growing!

Everyone needs to remember that on an average, our hair grows half an inch a month. That's 6 inches a year and 30 inches in five years WHEN YOU TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT. It's not magic, it's consistent care. Take good care of your hair and you'll retain length.

Strangely enough, I'm on the opposite end. When I was relaxed, my hair throughout childhood and early adulthood grew effortlessly. Now that I'm natural (4c) I've had to overcome a number of setbacks and errors. Mostly I've learned to deep condition, moisturize regularly and leave it alone throughout the week. Still learning and thankful for the natural community.

4c hair gets dry really quickly and has a hard time taking in moisture. When our hair was relaxed it easily soaks up moisture. Stick to Shea Butter, it’s magic. Melt it, use it as a pomade when your hair is wet. 4c hair loves that stuff. Also the Creme of Nature pure honey lime is amazing for 4a,b,c girlies. Hope this helps!

I haven’t used heat on my hair in almost 2 years (since I shaved my head for the 2nd time). I wet my hair, moisturize it, and apply castor oil to seal everything daily/every other day. I twist or re-twist my hair when needed. I trim monthly/bi-monthly & it’s honestly growing the best it ever has. It helps that I’m too lazy to straighten my hair or doing any kind of intricate styling, lol. I just moisture it and twist it into chunky twists and throw on a wig or head wrap, lol ❤️

Honestly, ever since i started watching your videos, I noticed such a change in my hair. My hair has always been thick and healthy but i never could retain my length. I'm just about 1 1/2 years in of cutting hair to my neck (too chump for big chop) and my hair is flourishing. The way it curls up when i went it, i just loveeee. Also, detangling was a major thing for me. I never detangled and washed my hair all together, brushing with shampoo, and just not knowing wtf i was doing. All of your tips have worked. I'll go to other channels too but I always come back to yours. I stopped wearing weaves personally because i'm so bad with taking them out. I yank and pull because I don't have patience however i've been doing the braids for most of the year and my hair is back where it was when I cut it.... but healthier. Love all my sistas for their channels and helping us understand our hair.

First of all I just want to say that I have been following you for so many years and I absolutely love your channel! Everything you mentioned in this video is 100% facts! I went through so many products and techniques that never worked. And I found that like you, my hair does not like to be manipulated too much. So I keep my hair braided down and I wear wigs as my protective styles. But when I am not in wigs I am still moisturizing and feeling my hair protecting my ends and I am so excited to try some of your new styles. Banding my hair letting it air dry and doing styles on stretched hair really do make a difference because you are not using heat. Now what I will incorporate is that edge control because your edges are laid honey! Now that my hair has grown past my bra strap I am willing to try some natural hairstyles and wear my hair out more, but still low manipulation styles. So glad to be back! I can't wait till next week to try your heatless curl method. Thank you again.

Perms have definitely stunted my hair growth. My hair stayed the same length for so many years. Now that I stopped putting perms in my hair, it won't stop growing. And my hair would always break in the middle of my head and now it's strong like the rest of my hair. You would have to offer me a million dollars to ever put a perm back in my hair.

Yes, sis. i am one who, went year after year seeing no hair growth, when i tripped the perm from my hair and started taking care of my over all body, that when i started seeing results, i make sure to trim my ends when needed, that has been the greatest thing, and deep conditioning has been a game changer, when i first started my hair Journey my hair was so thirsty that i could just rub my strands and it would rub off like cotton, now i don't have any of those problems, I've learned so much on this natural hair journey, Thanks so much for this video!!

I remember you from back in the day! It’s amazing to see how big your channel has grown. Me and my cousin used to talk about how cool and laidback your videos are. What I really like about you and your content is you’re not putting on this whole internet black act. So many black female natural channels are overdoing the “sis” persona and it’s exhausting. It’s too much to sit through sometimes. You’re not putting on an act- you’re simply being yourself and it’s so refreshing. Gonna start tuning in again!

I wash my hair as often as I need to. I deep condition every single time I wash and finger detangle it while I’m doing so and I have notice less hair fall and breakage. After I’m done, section my hair and apply a leave in with a heavy oil on my ends and hair shaft then plat my hair and let it air dry. I do stretch my hair out by bobby-pinning my plats from one side to the other so it can be more stretched out.

My hair has always been long since I was a child. My mom took great care of my hair taking me to the shop, getting ends trimmed, putting a scarf on at night. So I had a good routine but as an adult, especially in my 20s, I found my hair shedding and breaking a lot. Long story short: I manipulated it too much! I was always changing styles, like daily. I used heat on my hair a lot trying to make it look smooth and straight. Once I decided to go 100% natural (I used to relax 3-4x per year) I would only use heat 3-4x per year for getting trims. And I always do a lot of protective styles. Now my hair doesn't shed and break so much.

I truly learned more about my hair after i cut my locs. I too had never obtain shoulder length hair until i grew my locs. Then i di the big chop and started all over again. Soon i will achieve shoulder length hair. I keep my hair (only my natural hair, no hair added) in box braids during the winter and wrap my head for protection. I have discovered that my hair loves to be left alone. It does not like to be out and loose (my hair breaks during this time). I have definitely stopped blow drying my hair and i now clip my ends as needed. Thanks for this vid.

One thing I’d like to mention about detangling: "dry" detangling using just an oil & no water is an option as well. I learned that my hair prefers “dry” finger detangling using an oil pre-poo. I know it’s not the most common type of detangling, but whenever I tried it wet with conditioner, all of the product essentially turns into glue once it’s wet. WhatLiesBeneathTheWeave and PowerInYourCurl also “dry” detangle using an oil. Just mentioning this because I didn’t know this was an option before I saw someone else mention it.

The best thing I did for my hair was deep conditioning my here every week, finding good moisturizing products, and find styles that I could leave alone for at least a week. My hair was in a horrible state. It was always breaking off around my edges and would never grow past my shoulders, but now after a year my hair is 11'' long and I love it. All the advice given in this video is totally correct, I do everything but stimulate my scalp and have a healthier diet. Those two things I still need to change.

I agree that eating healthier and drinking water helps. Less to no heat. Finding the right products and minimizing those products helps. I only use 3. I also agree touching your hair less helps. My hair stays in twists and the only time they get messed with is to retwist. Tight hairstyles have to be an issue bc it’s tight lol. Idk how people can function with it tight. I too struggled with long hair and it was a constant daily prayer to have long hair and nails, which I now have both. It’s definitely a lot of trial and error but anything worth having takes true commitment and prayer. The Lord always leads and guides. Loved the video. You be blessed.

Wear a silk scarf when sleeping. Figure out what products works best for your hairtype. Hair growth..diet, patience, and GENETICS. You can maintain HEALTHY hair with this or that but length (I believe) is genetics. I can grow waist length hair just as my ancestors did if I choose to but that’s with protective styles and minimal manipulation (just as my ancestors did.)

I get its your opinion, but hair "length" is not based on genetics...it has everything to do with how well you take care of your hair and yourself. Genetics may determine your "growth cycle" but all of our hair grows, it may grow faster or slower than others based on growth cycle. There are so many black women with long hair and we all have the ability to retain length its just based on how well we take care of ourselves and our hair.😊

I too had hair that would never grow. That all changed when I started using Henna to color my hair. Henna is natural hair conditioner and while it takes time to get used to the product and how to use it properly, overtime it improves your curl pattern and strengthens your hair. Also every six months I would do an aphogee treatment which would stop it from breaking. Lastly I would clip the ends (the very tippy ends) every month. For some reason this stimulated it to grow. It would grow faster when I would clip them and not as fast when I would not clip them. I noticed that fact when I was clipping my edges in the front. They had been really short from wearing my hair pulled back. They grew like wild fire when I started clipping them.

Great advice! My hair growth has been awesome. Because I found out that being iron deficient can also cause breakage. My hair grew everywhere except the middle. That kept breaking at a certain point. Everyone told me it was because of pony tails, the shampoos, not getting trims. Although I stopped everything suggested. All it was is a simple iron deficiency. So that’s my advice. It works for me .

Marlyn Joya I have been taking an iron supplement. I started with liquid iron. Cause it get into the system immediately. That’s is 18 mg. And a multivitamin. I noticed after the month. That the short spots in my hair got a lil longer. I read that we shouldn’t have anymore than 65 mg of iron. But if you take gummy vitamins. There is no iron , zinc, selenium, copper, manganese, and one other vitamin. So I got a 45 mg iron. And my hair has gone from nape of my neck to bottom of my neck. Two months. I’m 40 years old in the next two weeks. As you get older those vitamins and drinking water are key to healthy body and hair.

While I have length to my hair I’ve noticed throughout the years that my hair doesn’t “grow”. Thought it was a superstition thing or witchcraft. Turns out it is very important that you know what works for your hair during every season as your needs do change with the weather.
