To clarify: Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive movement is more accurate than Rolex’s calibers. The fully-mechanical movements from GS are a little less so. - my apologies, Thomas

I have a Date Just and a Santos. I wear the Santos way more often. And it’s more versatile because of his quick change strap functionality. Santos is just a better watch in my opinion

I have a 36mm OP, Explorer 36, and Yachtmaster 37. I’m satisfied. Although I would definitely consider the DateJust as my next purchase. Hard to beat Rolex on bracelet comfort and smaller case sizes.

Great video! Just wanted to clarify - pretty sure Grand Seiko, in particular the spring Dr. watch that you showed is definitely more accurate than a Rolex. Happy to see if I am mistaken here but I am 99% sure that grand Seco is going to have a more accurate caliber with spring drive then Rolex.

Good recommendations. If having a smaller collection I like the idea of picking up your favorite from a few different brands. Maybe 1 Rolex 1 omega and 1 Cartier.

Great video! I agree, GMT is where Rolex have all beat. I love the GS GMTs the ones with rotating bezels are just too big. Tudors new BB58 GMT I think is a good competitor still loses, but closest we have in this realm. Thank as always!

Some of the new GS models feature the power reserve indicator on the backside of the watch. Also cost about the same as a Rolex

Good note. The power reserve indicator can be a tough one - put it in on the dial, and people say it's ugly. Put it on the back, and people say it's useless. 😐

Rolex really do have some incredibly iconic watches. I like the datejust options and as much I’d love to buy the snowflake the PR and bracelet put me off. The Santos is a great option and the one id buy

If you wanted a more exclusive watch than a Daytona but a less well known speedy get. A Speedmaster moonphase a very beautiful watch.

You should clarify that although the mechanical versions of grand seiko have stated accuracy less than that of rolex, the spring drive grand seikos will blow rolex accuracy out of this world😊

I love Rolex, but living in the UK there are very few places I feel comfortable wearing one. My Milguass is the only I I feel safe wearing, as the white dial is odd and most people think it is fake.

The issue against the Cartier santo is it’s a scratch magnet. Beautiful, but gets ugly fast.

T4YC. Why is it I don't like all Rolexes and Grand Seikos? (Except Explorer 2 and Millegauss) A watch must be honest in it's origins. R & GS are so shiny. Plus SS is a bugger with it's scratchability. I love titanium, and the wear you get with it, which is truly beautiful. Also the colour of the metal is alluring. So buy a Pelagos. Wear it everyday for everything. Unlike a Rolex which you might wear to a restaurant on Saturday night, if you're careful. Those dam scratches!!!

Great video ! At those prices, specs do not make any difference to me; brand heritage, complications and material do. I am drawn by VC more than any other brand because it brings these 3 differentiators with the prejudices associated with Rolex (mine included 😊)

Oris Divers Sixty Five Chrono is a good alternative to the Rolex Daytona. Take the difference, invest it in the stock market and let it sit there for a couple of decades.

To say that the rolex movements are more accurate than the gs spring drive is not correct. It's not the case with the examples I own.

GS need to improve their bracelets but there’s just something about them that doesn’t resonate with the people and stops them breaking the omega and Rolex hegemony

GS + Make a decent Micro-Adjust Bracelet = You WIN! Omega + Make a decent Micro-Adjust Bracelet on the Aqua Terra = You WIN! Cartier + Micro-Adjust on the current excellent Santos Bracelet = You WIN! Blancpain + Micro-Adjust on the current excellent X-71 Bracelet = You WIN! Zenith + Make a decent, original, Micro-Adjust Bracelet on the Chrono Master Sport = You WIN! VC & GO = You would already WIN with better marketing! Notice a trend?!! It's all about COMFORT! Marketing aside, these brands are SO CLOSE to beating the Sheeple's choice!

You are not crazy. A plethora of better watches out there than Rolex. I opted for a few of the examples shown. I opted for a Santos large blue dial and Omega Worldtimer blue dial.

Rolex is so good at marketing, they make you forget about omega, VC, JLC, and other brands that are as good if not even better watch makers. Would be good if other brands step up and show the truth about their products. Rolex craftsmanship is only high mid-level for now but I'm sure that will change pretty soon. Rolexs' first goal was to make a marketing company that sells watches. Now that they sell watches, they want to sell a story...and everyone loves a good story :)

Rolex is a brilliant brand because the accuracy of the movement is superb and that is the real thing. You are selling watches to people who believe in status and all that sort of nonsense that’s why Rolex is so popular it is a brilliantly marketed product.
