Hi. Your video is very useful. And I understand you need to times the calories by the number of servings. But if you do, do you have to times all the items on the nutritional list too? For example, I have a jar of curry and it provides the calaries 73kcal, fat 2.9g, carbohydrates 9.8g includes sugar 6.0g and salt 0.7g etc all in grams but only for a quarter of the jar. Do I have to times all these nutrients by four if I use the full jar? I can't find this info anywhere and I need to know to plan meals for my hubby who has just had a kidney removed. Can you advise me please or point me where to go for this info?
the kcal and macronutrient content (fat, carbs, protein) are all listed per serving. So, you are correct in that you must multiply the amount listed by the number of servings you plan to use. In your question, the entire jar curry would contain 292 kcal (made up of 11.6 grams fat, 39.2 grams carb etc)
This video, I was able to learn that food is the fuel of our body, and when it's burned this can create energy, or calories. I also learned that we should always check the food label to know how much can we eat per serving, and not to eat the entire box of food because it can affect our body.
Thanks for watching! You might try searching the product online as many companies have multiple language websites now. Another option, many calorie tracking apps have barcode scanners and you might get lucky that the particular food you are eating has been added to the database.
Good video. Soo basically serving per container all thats listed is considered one serving? Calories for example 200 is only for one serving? Not entire package?? Anybody.
The calories listed on a container are per serving (unless the container only has a single serving in it). To determine the total calories in an entire container (like a box for instance) you must multiply the number of servings in the container x calories per serving to get total calories. For instance, if a box of cereal has 10 servings and each serving has 200 calories, the entire box would have 2000 calories. Hope this helps!
Thanks for taking time to comment, Scooby! No, as doctors we would never recommend drinking gasoline. We use analogies to teach complicated topics. We found that many of our patients had a hard time interpreting nutrition labels and this was an attempt at explaining how to read them.
Thanks to Dr Christopher Palmeiro and his reply below. We echo his sentiments. This is a learning tool to help people understand how to read a complicated food label. We appreciate your comment and understand the sarcasm in it.
In this video, there are ten important concepts to remember about considering food labels. In this video, I learned that food is our bodies' fuel, and that when it is burned, it produces energy, or calories. I also learnt that we should always read the food label to see how much we may eat per serving, and that we should not consume the entire box of food since it might harm our bodies.
Rule7! Almost as addictive as Fetanayl! 3:25 Great video, but Rule #1 Should be there are no aliens. 🤔 Also rule#9 is so true! 4:35 Wow, the alien 👽 knows more than us! Wait a 🤔minute I just said there are no aliens? Guess I'll always have issues! 🙃😅 I have OCD and you won't let me get rid of that one emoji.😭
