The 3000gtVr4 is the most forgotten underrated sports car ever made. Just a couple thousand on exhaust, intake mods, and its in the mid 11s. Upgrade the turbos, clutch and high10s all day.
Why not? Dr750 turbos are stock size and thats 600+hp with stock internals. Ray has run 10.5x 1/4mile with the dr750s in street trim. $3,000 turbos. Heres a copy and paste of it. He did have head work. "Congratulations Ray P. on setting the 1/4 mile TD-04 turbo World record in his DR750 powered 3000gt running 10.51@135mph! Not bad for a full street trim car that he drove to and from the track." Ray P.'s DR750 powered 3000GT put down 707 awhp and 746 awtq running DR stage 3 heads and street cams and his car is even running stock Exhaust and side mount inter coolers for the ultimate and sleeper look.
DR750 turbos made 604 AWHP, and 611 AWTQ to the wheels on Matt M.'s totaly stock motor 95 Dodge Stealth with 80,000 miles on the motor, stock block, stock heads, stock cams. At 25psi of boost.
***** True but those dr750s are not gonna do it on straight pump you need methanol and pump or e85 or race gas. That's why I'm done with 3ks or v6 engines in general a v8 is the way to go if you want big power on straight pump gas.
Brian P Eric M. also made 609 AWHP and 651 AWTQ on his Stock long block, but with adjustable cam gears, 91 Stealth RT TT at 25psi of boost on PUMP GAS, with these turbos. Eric's car broke 400ft/lb of TQ at 3100rpm, and brakes 600ft/lb of TQ at 3900rpm! Those are Numbers a 500+ CID BIG block V8 would love to have, and this is from a 183 cid V6!
It definitely would be closer if he didn't miss shift and also the fact that the 3000gt VR4 is awd in quarter mile makes it not that fair. If t was a perfect run from both and a longer strip or rolling start supra would most likely win.
@@loz4830 actually not true as AWD has the most power loss and the only way he could do it is from a launch which is also the hardest to do on AWD without bogging let alone getting a good launch off thw hole without breaking something as well.. The Supra if anything has the Advantage as the RWD layout has the best way to put power down, so this race was in his favor tbh.. The 3000GT still won at the end of the day and that's all that matters, misshift or not.
@@jordanprice9285 absolutely not. Getting a rwd car to hook is a lot harder than AWD. And a AWD is a lot less stressful 95% time you dead hook you break shit AWD you don’t need to dead hook to run 1.5 60fts lol
@@firellio070 uhm what? The NAs are reliable as hell! I daily drove a NA for 10 years and racked up well over 400k on it. My VR4 has over 200k and is daily driven. My 96 Supra turbo has actually been more of a problem than any car I have ever owned. Once the motor does go in my VR4 I will be 4g63 swapping it as it is a lot easier to mod it and find parts for it.
@@RichRusso4218 sheesh. Maybe they just didn't take care of theirs, lol. Thanks for your reply tough. I've always wanted a vr4 but the na's and the evo made me weary of mitsu reliability.
@@irocjared Considering the Supra stock was the slowest of the 90's big dogs and the VR4 was keeping up with Skylines between the R32-R34 stock shows you actually know less than I do. Besides, the VR4 even looks better than the Supra.
@@jordanprice9285 that’s literally what I argued with you against, but you for some reason felt the need to come back here after 3 years and delete your comment. You’re absolutely right. That’s what I was trying to tell you. You were saying the supra was better than the vr4, hence the reason the other guy was also disagreeing with you.
I bet that Supra was a beauty right out of the factory, but there it looks odd with no rear wing and massive rear tires. The VR4 on the other hand looks very solid and presentable.
ouch. it was a 1g vr4 too. (steel rear crash bar, 5speed, heavier body panels and headlights, which he kept BOTH in for the race. )Supra ha lexan window, everything. Still lost!
Felt the same about mine for a while until recently: I put a Carbonetic Triple Plate Clutch in mine. Feels like you've been rear-ended by a mack truck and it can rip all 4 tires...
supra, fast and furious pain, no light intake, huge burnout-"rawghaghgaahghageghgra look at me im a fuckin tool" (supras saying that)- vr4, we good, ima just chill and be quite and unassuming. launch supra goes wait, what the FUCK was that? no one fucking told me i was racing a scud missile with a launchair on it. they cheated! im driving a supra, im unbeatable!
Sometimes the Underrated cars are much better than the Mainstream popular ones, well of course if you put a good billet for beating those Hollywood's Fairy-dust powered cars
Man I have the 3000gt brother a 1995 Dodge Stealth non turbo and it Looks like a 2020 just off the lot I get so many head's turn and they can't make out what kind car it is can't wait to get running like that 3000 her name is Lil Red
DSMeclipsegst actually stealth and 3,000gt are the same car, just different badging. Just like a camaro and firebird, or pontiac solstice and saturn sky.
Who cares? The Stealth and VR4 are the exact same car aside from a few cosmetic differences. Enjoy the video for what it is and stop being a nitpicky fool.
