Another "coincidence" is that in the TV version of Halloween, there is a scene where Laurie answers the door with a towel on her head, right out of the shower. That scene was shot inside the house that would years later be used as Nancy's house in the first A Mightmare on Elm Street
I miss how back in the day, people didn't really care about the fact that yes, it obviously was filmed in the spring or summer. We just thought it was something interesting about the movie and were just there for the story and chills. Yeah, it's always fun to notice these things. But it didn't take away from the enjoyment of it. I remember coming back to my grandparents with a bag full of candy, taking off my mask/costume and sitting down with tons of family and some dinner while Halloween was on NBC. Awesome memories.
I think Halloween is a masterpiece! It feels like October even if the trees are green and I'm glad they couldn't afford lighting, I've always loved the look of Halloween
@@yankee4424 It would also be just about cheap, predictable jumpscares rather than just seeing Michael stalking. Imo Michael just watching and seeing Michaels face in the darkness like your eyes have adjusted to the dark is creepier than any jumpscare
They figured out exactly what the camera would see when they filmed the abandoned house as a lived in house . They only painted and decorated the part of the house that would be shown on film!!!!!!
And I saw somewhere that they carefully planned the shots and fixed up only what was needed...six inches outside the shots the house was still decrepit.
Anybody know anything about those 2 guys on the porch that you can see looking at the camera in the background when the girls are walking down the sidewalk??
Not a secret, but a fun JLC sighting pre-release. She was a celebrity player on a game show between filming and release of the movie in 1978. The host asked her about her upcoming movie to let her plug it a bit, and then asked “Is it a thriller?” “Very much so” was her most understated reply of all time. 😂
I honestly never noticed the palm trees and lots of green foliage...my eyes were drawn to the fallen leaves, and the atmosphere created. I had wondered for years if they fixed up a run-down house, or made a run-down house look abandoned. But I saw in the documentary that was on my dvd of the movie how they did that. I think that some of the paint was still wet as they were filming. But they did an excellent job...the house at the beginning looks cozy and cared-for. And I'd never heard that about the lighting, or lack off because of budget, but it worked perfectly. It was like the fact that the shark in Jaws not working well and not seeing it as much as had been planned made it a much better movie. Honestly, the only thing that I found distracting were the shots inside the house from Michael's point of view, because the camera level was just too high for a small boy. But other than that, it was a masterpiece.
It more than an original it's supernatural the only way Halloween should be, a long remembered film, That will remain with you for a long time so you'll never run out of candy and have neverending trick or treaters running from the boogie man 😢😮👻. 😂
With the advent of video and subsequently HD and 4K upgrades, and the ability to pause and framegrab, it is easy to see all the flubs, flaws and foibles that show in a lot of these earlier films. I've seen Halloween for decades, and never noticed palm trees, or took note of all the green trees. But given what John, cast and crew did with this film, is just further testment to where they placed our focus, and gave me sleepless nights as a kid, and still the creeps everytime I hear the theme....brrr.😱
It was a low budget throw away movie fortunate to be made at all. When it was filmed was irrelevant. It is what it is because John Carpenter is a great director.
Someone now owns the exact car used in the film unfortunately had to restore it completely because apparently some old man whom had no idea the car was in a film had let it sit for years and animals took it over. theres a video posted on it.
I'm glad someone was paying attention. I was about to say the same thing. Everyone seems to forget about Jim Winburn. Technically, he was michael myers.
Also got it wrong about the end of Halloween. It's The beginning of Halloween 2 wherd Loomis screams "I Shot him six times" The end of Halloween Loomis sais "As a matter of fact... It was"
It is so amazing that this horror movie was a labor of love. Everyone did their part and more with the low budget. Everything came together perfectly. You know except the Summer/Fall thing and Michael's butcher knife pinning that guy to the wall like a butterfly in a case. 😆
