I'm so glad people are becoming aware. These kind of relationships can ruin your sense of reality. Look for signs of anger when you confront them with their abusive behavior, and a feeling something is not right.

The last guy I dated first started by telling me I was “hotter than his ex” and then started doing stuff around my apartment just because he expected me to do stuff for HIM at his house. Then he even make a fake scenario trying to make me jealous and purposely talked about other girls and told me he WANTED to make me jealous. He also gas lighted me before and made rude comments claiming they were jokes. Never again will I date someone like that!

A guy did this to me trying to fool me that he loves me. I played back. 😎 being one step ahead and informed of these things is powerful.

I have had two coworkers pull similar mind games. They both acted really friendly or friendly on occasion. Then they both started giving the silent treatment to different people at odd times. The both of them also stare a lot leaving you wondering if they are looking at you. They both also watch people struggle to maintain a conversation that they started themselves. Don't let people manipulate you. It's a them problem. Not a you problem.

A coworker kept repeating to me “I think you show a lot of potential” he wasn’t a superior or anything and he kept repeating it and I never asked. Then one day I snapped and told him to keep this to himself. You can usually tell, when people are supposedly flattering you it’s quite transparent, it just feels off.

Do not waste your time or life on people with narcisstic personality disorder go no contact or grey rock. Have no to limited time with them if you do business together or are part of your family

My "best friend" was like this.

This is how things have gone over the last two and a half years with my current GF. First six months of our relationship was something out of heaven, we never fought, enjoyed doing anything and everything together and she complimented me frequently. She spoke very little about her past, childhood or friends, yet she spoke enough about these things not to raise any alarms. We had our first fight a week after our six months and she ignored me for a little over a week. By the first week of our seven month mark she was spending every weekend by me and I was visiting her after work Monday to Thursday for a few hours each. At about 8 months after watching a movie and enjoying some quality time she asked if she could move in. I agreed and she moved in the following weekend. For 4 months things were great we had a stupid fight over something really silly. That Monday I dropped her at her mom's, while I was at work I got a phone call from my landlord informing me that he she was there moving out causing a scene with other tenants. This time I didn't hear from her for 2weeks again ignoring all efforts I made to contact her. Long story short she eventually moved back in and like a scripted play we have a fight, she threatens to leave, we make up three month mark comes she moves out while I'm at work a week later she's back and the same happens. This has happened 4 times now in exactly the same cycle. Am I stupid or am I missing something?

Soo true, each time I pull away because of the constant lies they transform to the most perfect person. Then not to long after making up, they hurt you worse than each time before and convinces you it's your fault.

Let them play if it makes them happy,...when you realize they are players only give what makes you happy,,,only what improves you if you would feel worse whn you dont engage them...do what is best for you...dont loose yourself when finding another...remember prayer..

Just wanted to thank you for the concise and simple to understand tips about toxic relationships. Wish I would have known about this earlier in my life, yet perhaps my acknowledgement might help someone else who might be on the fence about a particular person. Bottom line: run as fast as you can and never look back.

As far as #4, asking a lot of questions, it can also be the opposite, a lack of interest. If this is the case; when you talk about your day or of anything of interest to you, they won't ask many follow up questions, if any. They'll interrupt a lot and usually turn the topic to themselves. Over time, it becomes more and more noticeable the relationship is one sided. Wish I had know this when it was happening, this is huge a red flag and means it's time to exit the relationship.

I had a roommate who was the first person I lived with after moving out of my dads house. We were decent friends up to that point. I had recently helped her move into the same house that I was now moving into. Although she promised to help me move on a predesignated, she was literally out of town with her boyfriend the entire weekend... not to mention it was my birthday weekend. She had told me horror stories of her previous mean girl roommates becoming petty and exclusively toward her, and my dad is a train wreck, so it seemed we were both moving on to a better situation. She was very warm at first, seemingly excited to be living and sharing a bathroom with a good friend, and she almost immediately started offering me her hand-me-downs (clothes, furniture, decorations, etc), whenever she could and establishing how super cool she was with me using or borrowing her stuff, and I returned the courtesy. Things were really good for a few months, but there were some red flags I failed to notice. She was obsessed with the idea of us “brushing our teeth together” and over time I noticed that she would act colder towards me for a fee days if we were both home and I didn’t brush my teeth when she did. We would have long talks and she would ask me personal questions, as well as share personal information about herself and her past (as time went on and the truth was revealed, many of her stories, including that of her evil old roommates retrospectively seemed like lies or variations on the truth that she made to appeal to who she thought I was). She also acted as though she was my best friend, but not regularly. We hardly hung out during the week (except when we had long, personal conversations), and we only hung out on the weekends she wasn’t out of town with her boyfriend. Another flag is that she’d constantly talk about her boyfriend to me- specifically that she wasn’t satisfied, didn’t really love him, and that she was only with him because he made more money than her... I convinced her to break up with him, and she did, but later got back with him when she started seeing me as an enemy. One day she texted me, angry as f*ck, because I had used her moisturizer. I apologized and said I thought that it fell under the category of “help yourself to whatever”, that I washed my hands before I touched anything, and that I wouldn’t do it again. She seemed to back off, but it only got worse from there. After I came home from a trip over the holidays (a 12 hour travel day spent on planes and in airports), she picked me up from the airport and spent the entire drive home talking about how much she cleaned and organized the house. When we got home, I told her I was taking a shower and she told me I had to finish cleaning the bathtub before I could. When I said, ‘I don’t want to, it’s 11 pm, I’ve been traveling all day and I have to work in the morning. If you want the tub clean you should have finished cleaning it,’ she slammed the door in my face. I started being a bit of a recluse after that, and she texted me all sweet, basically saying “Do we have a problem?” and I lost my temper and said “Yes, your behavior is disrespectful and incoherent, I don’t trust you,” plus some more choice, PG-13 language. The next week, I had used some of her baking ingredients while cooking (mere tablespoons... I didn’t think it would even be noticeable), she legit screamed at me to “stop stealing her stuff”. No interim, no conversation about the rules changing from “help yourself to the whatever,” it seemed like she just started hating me over night. After that incident, I didn’t touch any of her stuff. I overheard her multiple times trying to accuse me of stealing to our other roommate. She got back with her ex (for the money, I assumed), and he was always around after that. It just got worse and worse to the point where she had turned every single one of our friends against me then would passive aggressively have them all over for loud parties while I was home, they were knocking my belongings over, jeering at me if I crossed their paths, and she even brought her mom into the picture... having her stay with us after having cosmetic surgery (with no warning), openly crying to her about how mean and scary I was, and even tried to get her to move in with us (this girl is freaking 27 okay...) She even switched rooms with our other roommate, bought and set up cameras around her room because she didn’t want me to ‘steal from her’ which I was never doing in the first place. One outlying instance is that there had been a dusty mirror downstairs that had been there for as long as I lived there, and I honestly thought I belonged to our third roommate (because nearly everything downstairs belonged to her), so I moved it to my room while I waited to get paid so I could buy a new one. It was actually the evil girls, and she went into my room while I was not home, with no courtesy text or note, and took the mirror and put it back downstairs behind the couch. She refused to communicate or acknowledge any of the negative ways she was effecting me, or that she had turned all my friends against me and destroyed the social infrastructure I had worked so hard to build. I was so frustrated, getting to the point where my satanic ass was “cursing” and “hexing” her (she was a super fake christian... so this was easily done). I also had multiple print-outs of narcissistic behaviors and typed examples of her behaviors that I taped all around the house. Eventually we both had to move, and the whole situation imploded. That’s my tale, and I don’t even have a legit diagnosis for this hoe, and honestly I’m so glad to be rid of her.

I grew up with a manipulative parent who still tries to play mind games with me till this day. Because of this person I have low self esteem and several psychological issues.. it’s made me an easy target all my life for ppl to repeatedly do that to me 😕

They prove themselves as a victim which we have already experience from them. It gets hard enough for us when we they becomes good to the people inspite they actually hurt and pull us down just for fun.

You tell them you’re leaving the relationship and why. They say they want you in their life. Then, after some beautiful time together they disappear. When you tell them you’ve had enough of this and you’re leaving they tell you they want you in their life. After some beautiful time together they disappear. Amazing. You would think it would be easy to walk away but it’s not.

Well...one of my friends literally admitted, a couple weeks ago, to trying to manipulate me in a few of these ways to force me to seek therapy because I apparently wasn't moving fast enough for their liking in getting myself fixed. Seems like they refuse to believe that it takes time to find a therapist who's a good fit for an individual. Oh...and, you know, there's a pandemic and been a quarantine for a few months, but yeah.

Whenever I would try to solve my sister's fights, it would feel like the experiences/events/situations would change at a constant: to a point where it would feel like I don't even remember anything at all. Almost as if someone was manipulating the conversation or problem to make sure that I wouldn't get to the bottom of it. Of the reason why the situation happened in the first place. Fudge that, I'm out.

Thank you for these videos. I have been manipulated to the point I started changing and was blaming myself. Its hard to tell when youre in that situation but listen to people around you and apply these vids on your relationships and try to escape if you feel like you are being manipulated. Another person my girlfriend has helped me to escape this but it was really hard and it took me few years to even understand. But if u understand the game they are plying you can be the winner. The manipulator is still trying to play his game with me but I am strong now and I see thru his BS. We are still friends but I am keeping my distance and ignoring these manipulative texts. I need advice.. From 5 to 10 is totally my boyfriend. I really love him, and he supported me thru difficult times (as I did with him time before) but recently I had an emotional breakdown, and his response was "I'm not ready to give you the love and support you need. I'm not sure I want to be with you anymore". He literaly ghosted me when I started to have suicidal thoughts. I know he doesn't treats me right, yet, I don't want to leave him.

It's a very hard thing to be in love with a person who is only playing games. They are cruel, hurtful, treat you like you are garbage or you are the bad one to them. They like you to be alone, off balance and torn apart. Do yourselves a huge favor and run as fast as you can the other way and never look back!!

I'm also gonna add that you might also feel like your brain is foggy or cloudy when being around manipulative people. This is because these types of people put your mind ill at ease and constantly do tiny things to gradually make you question your sense of reality: the purpose of this is so that they can put you in a position where you agree to whatever they want you to do without having you put up a fight, because their mind games have now become normal to your head.
