As a parent friend, I don't mind confessions. If someone confessed to me and it was a close friend, I'd make it as comfortable as I possibly could. I'd tell them that I don't feel the same way but that they shouldn't be ashamed. After all it takes a lot confidence and I'd be honoured to help them gain experience. I'm not the type to avoid nor ghost someone I'm close to just because I feel awkward with them. I'd rather comfort them and make them know that they are still my friend, my childe and that I won't treat them any differently nor make them uncomfortable. I'll tell them that I will give them alone time if it still is too much and tell them that if they need comfort to not hesitate to talk to me nor anyone else in the friend group. Communication is key after all.

Im an introvert. I like this guy and I think by now we are friends, we use non verbal communication a lot I think. Mainly eye contact but thing is he is more social with others than me I feel and I’m jealous of those close to him but I’m too shy to do anything about it and I don’t think he likes me back.

He might not ask you out on his own but based on what you told me I think he likes you a lot. With me as a shy guy, this feeling of being liked was warm and fuzzy but I really had a lot of social anxiety. If you approach him publicly he may feel like a deer in the headlights. You may have to approach him in private. I don't know about this guy you're interested in but I know I was a bit complicated. An enigma to be certain. I hope this gives you some useful insight. Hi, I've been in the exact same situation, but on the other side. Good that you mentioned the year so I could verify you're not talking about me ;) She had extremely low self esteem (which I didn't fully realize back then). and I was totally crazy about her. I was happy to be her safe haven and give her the energy and motivation to pick herself up and see all the good things about herself. I didn't find it weird when she told me that she felt comfortable around me (but that was already clear before she told me :) ). 2 important things we've learned from that phase: she realized the distinction "do I love him for who he is" vs "do I love him because he shows loads of love for me". I realized how beautiful it is - even if we won't see each other again - to carry her in my heart and forever love her from a distance. Because she's worth to be loved fulltime.

And we both realized that on a practical level, we didn't fit into eachothers lives. That said, I'm happy to share my story. "Living with my feelings for her" still comes down to thinking about her almost every day. But it has a positive tone to it now (just loving her and seeing the beauty of sharing love with someone) whereas during the first 2-3 years it had a somewhat negative tone in my mind (wanting to be with her ; wanting to redesign life so that we would fit together ; trying to keep contact to support her when she's feeling down and see the moments where she's doing great). During those 2-3 years we had odd occasions of talking with each other. Often resulting in good, deep conversations. She said many things that convinced me that it would be better to part ways (in a "letting someone go is [in this case] the ultimate sign of loving someone" way). The real switch in my mind was when I visually started imagining that I could carry her in my heart and share moments with her in that imaginary way. To allow me to still love her, without the complexity of keeping in touch. I even asked her if she was ok with being in my heart forever, and she enjoyed getting that spot :)) Another part of the switch was her saying out loud that she deserves to be loved fully. Loving someone also means to support them in finding the best partner for them (even if it isn't me) You also made me feel less alone :) And I'm happy to provide some comfort for you. Your message gave me similar vibes as the emotional side of her. And I really like doing an effort for her (and people like her :) ). Side note: your wording of 'impact the world positively' is a description that better fits with her than with me. I've learned a lot from her emotional side, which turned me into a better person.
