@Melly-xoxo I'm not a native english speaker and maybe I misunderstood, but - doesn't he say, that (expensive) products which have no noteworthy, valuable ingredients are to avoid? I don't know his products, but if they have rich and good ingredients, the critic isn't really appropriate. 😉 Greetings from Germany....🙋🏻♀️
exactly, and went on to say that nothing more than a moisturizer with no active ingredients, was it La Mer claimed proprietary active ingredients make it expensive and same with Tacha moisturizers.
@@andreamck4521 Many expensive skin care do have good ingredients... for him to stereotype all expensive products not having good, active ingredients is misleading
I love my Tatcha, this guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I have psoriasis /rosacea and the indigo cream+ dewy cream save my face from turning into sand paper.
@@staceyw.6608 but that actually does something, He says don't buy an expensive cream that doesn't have any actives or anything that doesn't do anything! and he didn't say you have to buy his retinol
This is my take on skin care. 1) Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from inside. 2) Eat your fruits and veggies it has all the vitamins and minerals you need. 3)Wash face with gentle face wash and with warm water. 4) Apply moisturiser immediately after washing your face. My personal favourite is Aveeno Baby cream Moisturiser (I am 42 years old, but my skin looks like 32) 5) Take a multivitamin every alternate day. 6) If you can, avoid the sun or use a sunscreen. 7) Eating very high calorie food can cause inflammation to your skin. 8) Last, but not the least ,avoid drugs, alcohol, smoking cigarettes,as they age your skin and appearance even faster Best of luck, ladies and gentlemen!
I would like to add this also: Ladies please stop making faces, rolling of the eyes, cause eyes to sink or hollow, and lifting the eyebrows while thinking etc. will create lines on forehead, stretching your skin by making angry faces, please try not to be angry, it stresses your skin, and leads to wrinkles the same as making all those faces, smile more as it lifts your cheeks, get some of your medicine from laughter!! Think younger💎 watch posture, bring glass to you when drinking, don’t go to the glass, do neck exercises, drink water at room temperature upon waking each morning, stretch! God Bless You, and vitamin C is your dear friend❤Be Grateful🙏🏼

I think you missed his point here, Dr. Karam's products contain everything such as actives, ceramides, peptides, etc in his 3 piece set of a face wash, serum, and moisturizer. He is telling everyone not to buy expensive moisturizer that costs over $300 per jar for just a moisturizer. His trifecta has everything that great skin care products should contain in a 3 piece set for $300 USD. I personally agree with him that this is a great deal (and I'm from Canada, where it is 30% more than what Americans are paying) for skin care because if you had to buy all of the different actives, ceramides, and peptides individually plus purchase a cleanser, a serum, and a moisturizer that contained only some of those ingredients, it would cost way more than $300 and you would have way more than 3 steps in your skin care routine as well! His trifecta is simple, easy to use, and it is the best skin care products I have ever used!! I have chatted with many individuals that completely agree with me on that plus the ease of use and price for products and ingredients!! Mine has lasted over a month as well!!
@truethots3088 yes, other products do contain some of the same actives and ingredients, but they also contain a lot of the "dirty dozen" additional ingredients that are carcinogens and endocrine disruptors as well! His products are clean, and I will pay more money to have a clean product than something that is going to cause me harm!! They are also the best products that I have used on my skin, and the results show that after each and every month I use them!
Again the essentials are 1. a dedicated sunscreen spf 50 (ideally physical: Zn / Titanium) 2. gentle cleansing. don’t rub or foam on skin 3. moisturizer 4. active ingredients: retinoids and vitamin C at least. 5. consistency and proper execution
@@joannaryan9805 just nitpicking but I asked an orthopedic surgeon about this and he said 10 minutes of sunlight on the dorsal side of the hands are enough for optimal V.D synthesis. Of course 30 minutes should be enough too.
@@lucasy4790 There was a lady on tv the other day she said she had worn factor 50 all her life as advised she didn’t have a wrinkle on her face she stated but stage four breast cancer instead. Obviously getting sun burn and you’ll increase your chances of cancer but especially in the UK you should have thirty minutes before applying sunscreen
@@joannaryan9805 I’m not hating against you (or the lady) but an anecdote shared on TV is a really poor evidence to suggest a relationship between lack of natural V.D synthesis and breast cancer. Of course vitamin D is still VERY important for calcium absorption and thus prevention of osteoporosis. The thing is if you’re *really* anxious about vitamin D you can also get D3 supplements which are fairly safe and cheap.
Dr Karam please do a video about STRETCH MARKS 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 please girls put likes and comments if you’re interested too! It s so hard to find good information about this topic
Red LED near infrared light therapy really fades, and improves stretch mark texture. There is also micro needling which greatly improves them. And you can have them TATTOOED to match your skin, which blends them perfectly AND improves the texture.
Just looking at this guy's merch..... they are way expensive... very hypocritical for him to tell people to ditch expensive, department store bought moisturizers.....
In my late 20s my dermatologist told me that the top three things I could do to prevent skin aging was use sunscreen, use sunscreen, and use sunscreen, so I was religious about using it on my face, but I didn't really think about using it elsewhere. Decades later, the difference in the signs aging between my face and neck is staggering, it almost looks like my head is on my mom's neck. PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM THE SUN!
thank you for a reminder lol, I’m 22 and I mostly use it on the face where I used to have acne in my teen years. I really should include the neck and the rest of the body😅
@@thebestcat9601 I always wear Laroche-posay mineral sunscreen. Every day. And if I venture outside, I apply Laroche-posay mineral sunscreen every two hours.
Same here. I have always smothered my face in sunscreen 50 factor but left everything else out. Now my face is not too bad for a 67 year old but my neck looks about 80

$330 is WAY beyond the means of most people to spend on monthly or even bimonthly skin care products. I wish Dr. Karam would advise us on cost effective brands, rather than just focusing on his extremely expensive products. That would be a REAL help.
CeraVe is a very very good and is fairly well-priced in North America. Also, French Pharmacy skincare brands are fairly affordable and widely available in US and Canada as well as Europe. Use those. I do. I have also used Skinceuticals and SkinMedica and they are about the same. I cannot afford to buy those all the time so I just buy La Roche-Posay, CeraVe, Cetaphil, Neutrogena, RoC {which is fantastic, by the way}, you get the jist. Some stuff that I get at CVS with Extrabucks Rewards and/or Shoppers DrugMart [in Canada which I recommend going to if you ever cross], Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc.. More expensive skincare products do not translate to more efficacy. 🙂
Totally agree with everything you have said! Here in the UK, we had a report a couple of weeks ago, that Nivea ( blue pot) has the same ingredients as La Mer! Thanks for your valuable information!
@hiannahgus574 okay that checks out. I was too assuming that it would be the active ingredients that were said to be in common. But the findings of the report mentioned were kind of like saying that coca cola is the same as champagne because they both contain water and bubbles. I appreciate your replying 🩵
I find it interesting that you would do so much Botox to a person's lips that they look ridiculous but I guess it's their perception they look ridiculous
It's basically an advertisement of your products. Which, in my country is illegal. Doctors can't advertise any products. You're overusing your authority and trust people have to the figure of a doctor to sell your products. Do better.
What do you expect ? Everybody having a channel can do whatever RU-vid allows. We make our choices. See channels of dermatologists like Sharene Idris...or something like this, dr Dray ..
Dr K I only started using moisturizers in the last 10 years when I turned 60. I used sunblock as a “moisturizer” since my skin was always oily. I used retin A regularly since I was in my early 30’s. Through a process of trial and error, I realized that sun exacerbated my tendency to age spots. Keep it simple. Keep it clean. When I see people smear layer after layer of product on their faces, I think it’s just so counter productive. Whether you use Ret A or Karam MD, THESE ARE ENOUGH as long as you protect. I live in the Deep South so we get lots of sun year round. What a challenge. You have taught me a lot too and I appreciate your good counsel. Now as I approach 70, I use only a tinted moisturizer on my skin during the day and at night. I still love blushes and eye makeup but on my facial skin I prefer simplicity. If I have a few skin imperfections, I don’t mind letting them show. It’s reality. Thanks Dr K.
I do not stress about my skin care regimen as I take on board all the information/suggestions and add to my daily routine and my skin has never looked better 😊
Legit with consistancy, there is no results withought it. I've been using moisturizer and retinol since I was 18, I'm 37 now. Be consistant, it's a lifestyle like waking up and having a glass of water or opening your eyes lol its just something you do every day. Also glycolic acid is Magic ♡ and a big one for wrinkles that is almost kinda looked over sometimes is SLEEP WRINKLES yes they are real, and they can get deep. Do your best to try and sleep on your back.
Skin care routine that I do(I only wash my face at night) Gentle Fragrance free cleanser Glycolic acid AHA power liquid Vitamin C serum Moisturizer mixed wirh Retin A Seal with vasaline. Now this is not for eveyone by any means, I repeat not for eveyone. This is what works for me and my skin.
Yes I get sleep wrinkles hate it im 44 n always had baby face no wrinkles and I went into menopause early n sometimes I sleep side n effecting my face so many ways I need new pillows help sleep back only
@@maryrivera2280 It can be hard, but just find what is comfortable for you. Try a few different kinds of pillows or maybe a side body pillow. But whatever it is just make sure its something that makes you feel comfortable and cozy when you sleep. You look amazing so whatever you are doing keep it up ♡
I honestly won't ditch my fancy skincare products. I realize that it's a lot of fluffs and marketing, and I'd been a utilitarian on my skincare before i.e. a lot of generic products, a lot of The Ordinary, etc- it didn't motivate me to do my skincare routine. I'm good with using skincare that balances actual useful ingredients and just enough luxury feels to it such as Tatcha, Sunday Riley, or even Naturium. I even switched my face wash to Aesop just because I hate double cleansing the most. I find that using products that are actually enjoyable is what works for me to be consistent with my routine.
This is one of the most helpful videos on skincare that I have ever had the pleasure to watch. Inspired to be committed to a skincare regime. Thank you.
My skin loves Bakuchiol as it cannot tolerate retinol at allll. Unfortunately Biossance disconnected their amazing bakuchiol serum 😞if anyone knows of a similar alternative I’m all ears 🙂
I started watching your videos towards the end of the year 2023 and my skin was sensitized, red and sore, I decided to ditch the unnecessary products that i new were causing that and i started a simplified routine which include only vitamin c,retinol and spf50 and the difference is amazing 😅. Thank you so much DrAmirKaram, you changed my perspective on skin care routines for the better, it doesn't have to be complicated. Thank you again🇿🇦
Question: So you think I could use my whole life the same products as long the ingredients: Vitamin C, Retinol, Niacinamide, Peptides,Hyaluronic acid & sunscreen ?
Thank you Dr Karam for this comprehensive list of do’s and don’ts. Please list out some facial oils/products we should be incorporating in our skin care regime. I am 64 and have combo skin with large pores.
To name a few: Jojoba Oil, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), Retinol (Vitamin A), Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C Serum, Peptide Serum. All can be found in the KaramMD Skin Trifecta! karammdskin.com/products/karam-trifecta
When I added up all the money I spent, each month, on face products - I was shocked! I’m paying $28 dollars more and receiving doctors products. His products are easy and quick! I’m extremely happy and see results.
C'mon dear Doc. Make your products more affordable please! And you're adorable. You could be my son so not hitting on you 😂. Are you of Lebanese descent? Hugs from Florida and thanks for all of the free content. Priceless.
You offer some great advice and it’s much appreciated. I looked forward to watching this video but was a little disappointed to see it was more like a Trifecta commercial. 🤣 Unfortunately it’s beyond my price range, but I am sure it’s an excellent product!
impossible for me to reapply sunscreen during the day. I can't redo my makeup every 2 hours. But what i can do is use the highest protection i can find and never go into direct sunlight (use umbrella or hat or stay in the shade). I also use antioxidants that can help protect the sunblock
So tired of watching skin care videos where the "specialists" just use it as a way to promote their own products. I want trustworthy information, not to be marketed to. Honestly looses any amount of trust in anything they say.
I think we’re so OBSESSED with skin care nowadays. I’ve had a skincare routine since 1997- since I was 10 because I broke out a lot. Now I’m 37 and I surf and I’ve always lived by the beach and I don’t avoid the sun!!!! I love it!!! My skin was made for the sun. I swear I’m so annoyed with all these videos because it’s all common sense lol.
Totally agree about the sun @miap2122 I am fair but I don't wear sunscreen. I hate it tbh. People come to work smelling like sunscreen...and I work in an office 8-5.
I wash my face at night with Pears soap (about 60p a bar) then do nothing else to it. I wear a tonne of makeup through the day which blocks out all the sun coz I’m a Goth. I’m 50 with skin as soft as butter. Become Goths, people! 🤣😳🖤
I find it wierd how its OK to say that premature aging is bad but we're never allowed to say that ageing in general is bad. i.e. if youre 50 but look 60 its OK to say its not a good thing, but if youre 60 and look 60 you just have to accept it. People want you to pretend that aging is beautiful etc etc but this logic just proves them wrong because otherwise why would you say that looking older than you are is bad? No one ever says that looking younger than you are is bad
You tell people in your video not to spend a lot of money on skincare products, as most of these ingredients are not expensive to resource. Yet, you charge $260 for 3 small bottles of skincare in your Trifecta bundle. Can you explain that?
Hello great video. love your anti aging education. PLEASE can you list some over the counter products for prople on a budget in every category? 😊just windering.... for thise who need more details..
I'm so unsure about what products to get...I get so stressed and anxious and I just hate keep looking for the right product, there's so many it's getting ridiculous. What would you recommend for sensitive skin with 2 main problems: sebaceous filaments on the T zone and chin and fine lines? I am about to just stop looking and just do nothing anymore...it's just an extra stressor for me.
I loved how the Tatcha dewy skin cream felt but I stopped buying it because it contains polysorbate 80. A $68 dollar cream shouldn't have that garbage in it at that price. It was soothing but really all it did was give me a glow and felt moisturizing, im not sure it did anything for anti-aging.
I bought the Tatcha smallest pot available, I wanted a luxury cream and I will say it feels nice when applying it but I look super greasy 😮 I use prescription vitamin A (started on it recently) and know that I don’t need to apply any of these expensive creams with no actives! I’ll stick to CeraVe day and night moisturisers. I trust the doctor 😊
Says the dr charges $130,000 for facelift and his creams are equal to any other expensive products. And your facelift are not that great the best doctors in Beverly Hills and New York charges 50 to 60,000 and if I’m buying a product for $275 it better be around for 10 years of backing up . At this point you’re a sales person, you’re not a doctor anymore
A real pleasure listening to your video. Living in The Mediterranean for years and not using sunscreen every day resulted in Skin Cancer on my nose. It has taken four years to get my nose back so to speak through creaming it every day 3x a day. Daily I use a filler before putting on makeup. Wearing a hat is important! I have a few hats and believe me I do wear them. I don't drink smoke or take drugs which helps the skin a lot and I walk everywhere. Your video is full of good common sense with a few new things I will try. Thank you so much for putting this information out there. I will check out your products.
As a medical provider , I agree that his plan of care is great ! But the price tag doesn't work for most . Take his advice & buy the generic versions of retinol & Vit C , sunscreen etc. The vertical restore price tag is crazy . A great complete face lift can be done overseas for 10-14k , just do your research. I had my facelift in Prague , Czech Republic ...very good vacation & results
I use retinol in the evening and niacinamide serum plus moisturizer in the morning, followed by sun protection. How can I insert the vitamin C serum in this routine?
@maramao6202 I would say, switch your niacinamide to the evening and put vitamin c in the morning. Actual vitamin c was too harsh on my skin so I use vanicream vitamin c serum and it's worked wonders for me! I also follow that up with pycnogenol serum and spf 35 moisturizer. I have combo skin. Hope this helps!
@@maramao6202 I suggest starting with the lighter serums first and ending with heavier creams. This is my pm routine: 1. The Ordinary Squalene cleanser 2. Beekman milk wash exfoliating jelly cleanser 3. The Ordinary Argireline serum 4. Good Molecules Discoloration serum (this has niacinimide in it) 5. Tretinoin cream 6. Fragrance Free Roc Retinol Correxion night cream
I can't use retinol because even a tiny anount on my face away from my dry eyes, makes my already dry eyes even more painful. I know it's because they are already so dry, so most people are likely fine with it, but I'm unfortunately not. Sucks because I need the anti aging help.
Ive heard there are many much better antioxidants, that could replace vitamin C. The thing is, its quite hard for many people to find one, that would not irritate the skin. Also its quite hard to use it alongside with retinol and peptides in the same day routine. They say, the best is to apply peptides liquid serum twice daily. Whereas it can still be ok in the evening, when you apply them first, following after with a retinol, in the morning it is quite complicated, when we want to use vitamin C or some acid toners etc, as peptides get neutralised with such a combination. Using everything on a daily basis (retinol, peptides, acids and vitamin C) is extremely hard due to the rules of layering
I love retinol body lotion, versed, naturium, and gold bond, I use them in the winter though because I'm completely out of the sun I use vitamin c body lotion in the spring and summer
Hydroquinone is dangerous for the skin. You can get a skin cancer. You can use it only for the short period of time and only where you have a dark spot and talking with your doctor if he recommended for you.
i am in Australia, your moisturiser alone translates to $255 audfor 50ml ! How can you say "ditch expensive moisturiser " with a straight face? sorry, but what exactly do you consider expensive? because that to me is beyond expensive. i consider brands such as Tatcha to be luxury/ expensive, and 75ml is $135 Australian... nearly half the price with 1/3 more product. sorry, but although i found your video informative, i would never spend double a weeks food money on a moisturiser
I don’t mind spending more for quality products - but the very high monthly amount allows me to accept (a little more) what I’m seeing in the make-up mirror… BTW- thank you for the knowledge and sincerity you share!
Thank you for all you give in your knowledge and talents. I've been using the full line of trifecta for 6 weeks. I've ditched all other skincare supplies (I have a lot more cabinet space now). My Olay day moisturiser I've been using since I was a teen (formerly called Oil of Ulay) has SPF30 and has never steered me wrong. At night I now use hyaluronic acid and cold pressed castor oil (from a glass bottle), I'm 43 years old and people still say I look like I'm in my early 30's... 🤷🏽♀️
"I'm just speaking the truth.." aka your opinion. It's not necessarily for money; SPF in makeup IS A GOOD ADJUNCT for additional coverage. If someone touches their makeup throughout the day, I HOPE ITS AN SPF MAKEUP AND POWDER. It has its uses its just not the whole story, like many products and ingredients.
Always appreciate your honest - straight forward advice. I love skin care and rejuvenation. Live and let live I say and the way I love to live is with great skin! 💛
What about using retinol with eczema? The areas of my face that are prone to eczema get really irritated when using retinol, or any other active for that matter. Any ideas?
any active ingredients are prohibited while skin barrier is not at 100%. I have dermatitis and my dermatologists always prescribes a different routine entirely for break outs. Just to repair the barrier, and then get back to active ingredients
Sun is not as bad as STRESS…stress and poor diet or medication would do horrible things to your overall appearance…Rich people have more chances to have better skin, because they don’t tend to have that many stress factors ( how to survive and feed your kids, etc) in their lives..but they choose to drink/party and generally overindulge..

Great video! I haven’t been using vitamin c mainly because I don’t know where to fit it in. I rotate tretinoin, glycolic and lactic acid nightly. Peptides and niacinamide in the morning. Would truly appreciate advice here! Thank you!
Interesting video and very motivating! I recommend people use less retinoids/retinols when the sun is too powerful as I ended up with a deep tan from Adapalene with SPF 30 in summer. Your skin is so good, Dr Karam!
Using oils for oily/acne-prone skin will cause breakouts.... no matter what this guy says. Using things like alcohol and other drying ingredients will make your skin produce more oil, but for oily skin, using non-oily hydrating moisturizer is the only way to go!!!!
