You should really appreciate this. ln your entire life, you will save multiple years by sleeping less than other people. And can do with it whatever you want.
@@berndderhenker5546 explain this, cause time goes at the exact rate regardless if we are awake, asleep or dead, time doesn't change, we don't "save" time.

Thank you, I've been lead to believe that if I don't get a hard 8 hrs a night, that I'm doing something wrong or I'm irresponsible but I'd struggled with falling asleep my whole life. I wish more business leaders understood the science about sleep as allowed flexibility in schedules so that biphasic sleepers can think clearly and not be forced to an unnatural schedule

I sleep ~ 6 hours at most, I need more, (like 7 - 7.5 hours) but I am always too excited to get up. Gym, working out, hunger, walking the dog, cleaning the house, groceries. I love life.
Since I can remember Ive slept about 4 hours on average. No naps or anything either. The past few years I’ve noticed I’m sleeping even less now. 3 hours is typical but sometimes it’s just 2 hours. I’m energetic. I’m at a healthy weight. I have no health issues. I’m not tired. I have a better memory than almost everyone I know, I’m in a pleasant mood and I have no problem focusing or getting tasks done. I work full time, have a 9 yr old daughter, paints for hours at night when everyone is asleep, have 2 very energetic dogs, workout every other day, do yoga every night, drive on average 60-70 miles a day (and have never been in an accident or fallen asleep at the wheel or at my desk) I just don’t need the amount of sleep that most people do. I go to bed at 3a and I’m up at 6a to start my day. I’m 47 yrs old and I’m able to accomplish so much because of my sleep (or lack there of). It just works for me and I’m tired in laying in bed for hours wide awake because I don’t want people to think I’m on “something “ if they see me washing the car at midnight 😂
when i was an athlete i need sleep at least 8 hrs to recover well, now i no longer an athlete , i doing fasting alot , i sleep 4-5hours at night and 1 - 2 hrs at day. i still performed my daily work perfectly fine. sleep depend on what activity u do
I generally do a nap a day (30-60 minutes) besides my 7-8 hours. Consistency is important. Sleep deprivation and catch up is no good. Good point takeaway in video.
I've done multiple of experiments of sleep. No sleep: Absolutely horrible. The first few hours was fine and I still felt okay. When it was around 1pm whenever i blinked i just wanted to close my eyes for longer but i couldnt because i was in class. I was really moody and I was too tired to have a conversation. When i got home, I felt a tad bit better but really dizzy. 12 hours: I went to bed at 8pm snd woke up at 7am. Surprisingly, when I woke up I felt tired. Throughout the day I had a headache and a backache. When I came home, I felt okay but still had a headache. 4 hours of sleep: I went to bed at 1:30am and woke up at 5:30am. I still felt a bit tired but managed to get out of bed. I had some coffee and had a good morning routine. When I got to school, I felt fresh and great. I was more smarter academically and I put effort into the work. When I got home I mostly just did normal stuff and it was quite good.
I agree. When I used to sleep for just 6 hours, I felt more satisfied as compared to when I started sleeping 8 hours+ due to the advice of scientists. I have decided to sleep just 5-6 hours from now on.
I really relate to the biphasic sleeping. 4 hours at night and 4 hours during the day. It’s different for everyone, but it works for me. 8 straight hours makes me more tired.
That was actually the natural sleep pattern for humans prior to the invention of the lightbulb. Once I hit 50, it became more frequent for me. Usually I’m awake very early morning for an hour and a half between two 3-4 hour cycles. It was comforting to learn this.
I went to bed 9PM because I was stupid tired. Woke up 3AM with a bad headache from sleeping too long. Until 3 - 4 years ago, I used to sleep for around 8 hours every night. I usually sleep for 5 - 7 hours now. Even 5 hours feels like too much sometimes. It's really convenient though, getting so much more out of each day. :) How much sleep you need, really depends on each person.
@@robinkat I was just forced to for a period of my life, then I got used to it. You could probably force yourself to as well until you get used to it, but I would ease into it if I were you.
I struggled with insomnia for years and years but I finally have it figured out for the most part. Just staying on a schedule really helps. I gave up my sleeping meds years ago, I think they almost make it worse.
@@shehryarsatti7985 spend less time in bed. You don’t need as much sleep as society would have you believe. Sleep in a separate room or bed if possible to partner. Only sleep when tired and after 4-6 hours of undisturbed sleep you’ll feel great
Haha, that cartoon face at 9:05😊 This is so true. I can't sleep monophasic. Makes it very hard to have a regular 9-5 job because you HAVE to sleep between 9pm to 6 am. If you wake up at say 4am, after 5 hours. That's it. You're done. There's no catch-up until the next night. Maybe that's why so many are sleep-deprived..
I exercise regularly, conscious about what I eat, drink plenty of water, take core minerals and supplements, intermediate fasting, no food 3 to 4 hours before bed and I only get on average 5 hours sleep and take naps most days. I fall asleep easily. I was sleep by 8:00pm and awake at 1:10am. I guess this is my norm at this stag of my life (post menopause).
There needs to be a study on people who lift heavy and sleep 8 hours vs lift heavy and cheat their sleep cycle. That would put an end to the debate of the amount of sleep needed
I sleep 4 hours at night and 4 during the day. This seems natural for me. Sometimes it's awkward when others are trying to sleep and I feel like wild horse ready to go.
sleep 7h-8h : feel energetic the whole day, without needed nap. But feel lazy getting off the bed. sleep less than 6h: feel fresh after waking up, but tired at mid-day and need nap. This is what I experienced. Probably I choose 8h of sleeping bcs I don't like to sleep in school. Update: Got vaccination, then sleep 12h.
@@infinitepossibilities2614 lol im 16 and took them, nothing even happened, some say people would die after 2 years, lol! I will make sure to reply to you after 2 years
I wanna cut down on my sleeping hours because I wanna study more and achieve my goal. If I had a chance to not sleep till the time I achieve my goal, I would do that without even thinking twice. But the thing is I'm very sensitive and if I sleep just for 5 hours ( normally I sleep for 6 hours ) I get sick and it results in poor digestion and I end up vomiting all night. I seriously wanna know how to sleep for 4 5 hours and still feel fresh 🥺
I am a high school student, and things are so busy that I only sleep 3 hours or 4 every day, I will be exhausted every day, I also do not eat at school because I do not have friends, so when it comes to holidays, I sleep the whole day without opening my eyes even once, or I do not remember that I slept a lot. I am really trying to fix this lifestyle. but I do not know which works for me the best.( back when I wasn't in high school, I always slept 12 hours a day to get my energy back).
thank you! I personally only need 4-5 hours to actually function, but when I was younger, I would go to bed at 10-11 and I would always get in trouble - not knowing that it wasn’t normal. I always thought I was an idiot for it and trying to force myself to go to bed early. Now, I know I’m im just different. Thank you!
Very interesting. I find 6.5hr sleep works well for me - an early(ish) night with an early morning - I've always been a "lark" as long as I can remember. Whereas my parents and my sister are most definitely night owls, with not going to bed until 0100/0200, and getting up around 0900 being the norm for them. The "Night Owl" gene obviously skipped me somehow! :-D
I feel horribly groggy and completely unproductive all day long if I sleep more than 3-4 hours. It rarely happens thank goodness. My husband sleeps 10 hours on average PLUS takes a 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon every single day and on the weekends he takes multiple naps (and no he’s not depressed) He has no energy while I’m busy running around all day. He has poor memory while I’ll remember everything. Everyone is different and is effected differently.
Colder room is no good for me, i woke up in early time because I'm freezing and shaking to cold. Meanwhile hot temperature gave's me comfortable sleep and always had good dreams.
Yeah.same...thyroxin hormonal imbalance is one of the reason for this.I checked my hormonal levels but they all were normal.the doctor said that I'm addicted to sleep.check yours also
I get sleepy and my eyes pain when I sleep for 6 hours But when I sleep for 2 hour and take 1 hour of sleep in day gives me more energy and i can be productive all day 💀 But I'm only 16
Sleep is very different for many people but your diet has a lot to do with the quality of sleep. Intermittent fasting makes it easier for myself and others I have talked to to sleep less and fell rested.
Since 2017 to 2019 i slept around 5h a day (except on the weekends) and i was perfectly fine. my mom was always mad at me for not sleeping 8h a day but i dont need much sleep. yeah damn well it feels good sometimes to sleep 10 hours straight but i honestly feel more energetic and awake during the day with 5h of sleep than with 8/9... just my personal experience.
I tried getting in the habit of getting 8 hours of sleep because of school, and when I get 8 hours of sleep I am just tired and yawn all day, but when I got 5 hours of sleep I was full of energy in the morning
Thank you so much 😇. I was kinda depressed because I'm sleeping very less nowadays If i sleep for 4 hours or 5 hours to max I'm more efficient than sleeping for 8-9 hours . I think I fall under everyman catoegry , where 4-5 hours of sleep with few power naps is best for me.
the time I had so much energy and felt never better was when I was sleeping 4.5hrs and took no nap. now I slept 8hrs a night and feel sleepy all day. I cant focus on anything. but everyone said we should have 7-8hrs of sleep :(
I've worked it out that I need about 10-11 hours of sleep. If I get that much sleep, then the next day I'm alert and full of energy, any less sleep and I'm barely coherent and groggy throughout the day. My trouble is, it's not GETTING to sleep, it's STAYING asleep. I wkae up several times a night, usually to go and pee, but a lot of times I just wake for no reason, sometimes I wake up and I can't breath because my stupid nose has run down into the back of my throaght and I'm drowning in my own snot! Regardless of what wakes me up during the night, it takes me a while to fall back to sleep. In the mornings it even worse, I wake up too early and can't get back to sleep at all! I'd be surprised if I get any more than 5 hours total!
Thank you! I’m looking for advice though. I love cuddling with my spouse in the morning; it helps “fill my love bucket”. How can I work around this to get a biphasic sleep cycle?
Most of the time I only sleep 5 hours a night but sometimes I have to sleep 8 to 9 hours kind of like my brain trying to catch up I don't understand it myself other times I sleep 12 hours but most of the time it's only 5 hours a day
I don’t sleep a lot. Maybe 5 hours a day total, and usually in 2 cycles. 3-4 hours at night, and then maybe an hour or so later on, maybe not. I sleep when I’m tired, and I get up when I wake up (simple, right?). I do a very dangerous job and I’m always alert. Sometimes I sleep a bit more, sometimes a lot less. It all depends. Be open. Be flexible. And if you’re forcing yourself to stay in a padded prison for almost half the day just to be able to sit in another sort of prison for the other half, then you have some serious thinking to do that goes beyond sleeping habits.

i was sleeping always before, like 24 hours. One day i said to myself forget it you are now moving to college. Now i am doing the same and dropping my classes. i do not know if this would be funny or serious but i am becoming more anxious for this habit.
The woman who works with me sleeps all the time, starting from boarding the staff bus in the morning, she sleeps even 10 min break time. sometimes even when she is doing her job, her eyes are closed and she is almost asleep. We nicknamed her Princess Aurora (known as Sleeping Beauty ) by our staff makes people laugh every day in her sleeping bathroom or dinning table. Always drop her phone and funny face and position and people prank take her funny sleeping picture 🤣 but Im jealous for her she can sleep whatever maybe even she is standing. I wish her health always because I'm sometimes maybe her brain something not right working 🤨
I stopped using an alarm clock. After about 6 hours my sleep naturally breaks at 4am or there-about. Then I wake up and start my day. I hate sleeping in late.
I sleep better from 4am to 12pm. I can't sleep early and wake up early. I have tried it many times. Does anyone experience that too? Update: i started taking 10mg of melatonin every 11pm and my sleep has been set. Try taking melatonin at the time you want to sleep
I have problems sleeping, I go to bed around 1:00 am to 4:00 am wake up around 6 to 9 in the morning, I have been doing this since I was 9, and I doesn't affect me cognitively now cause I am used to it.
Getting to much sleep or to little can increase your risk of getting heart disease strokes heart attacks high blood pressure and diabetes it’s important to let your body get all the sleep it needs everyday
Sleep is similar to the waking state.. In the waking state, thoughts come 'automatically' in our minds. For example, i myself don't know what thought will come into my mind say after 10 minutes, 20 minutes etc. When thoughts come automatically to our mind, it 'seems' to us that we have consciouly 'thought' them. Similarly, while sleeping also thoughts come 'automatically' to our minds.
Sometimes my brain works so hard when I’m sleeping that I’m tired. Lately I have a re-occurring nighttime that I cannot speak. I know it’s because of the virus. I’m in Florida at the worst place and time in my life, so obviously it’s connected. But, it still sucks.
@Pr.incorporated well in a way I am. I actually didn’t sleep well last night at all because of dental pain. My job is harder then ever ,but it pays way better than the company I left. Plus it’s just a better company
I get the recommended amount of sleep (7-9hrs) but ALWAYS be tired. I also be taking like 2-4hr naps on top of that because I’m exhausted. I hate my body
♦♦ in my workday i sleep 8-9hr . but the weekend is the hell, i cant sleep more then 5hr. cause of my exiting, driving, hangout, shopping. i feel so tired in the weekend,
I have done my research on my own body and for me, anything less than 5 1/2 hours is painful and exhausting... btw I would not really call it reliable research... because I tried out different combinations of sleep during my exam days to maximize the studying hour.... I think the amount of sleep depends on your occupation and your daily activity... and 6 hours works perfect for me...
