Agree with you, Anna white t shirt and white sneakers, i wear mostly, to dress down outfit. I pair white t shirt with dressy skirt or pants, or fancy slip dress, and automatically makes outfit more casual. For the same reason i like white sneakers. I actually looking for a pair right now, but i want on bigger platform, to wear mostly with mini or short dresses, so no need heels. It makes more casual as well. Happy Resurrection Day! Always look forward to seeing your videos as I, too, live in Florida... Orlando. Thanks for introducing us to this new vendor. I too live in North Florida. And this spring has crazy weather. I’ve tried to put up my sweaters several times, but then we’ll go from unseasonably hot to cold and damp again. Nude shoes are a must-have for me in summer! Definitely my essential shoe color and I like white and tan, too. I can’t wear heels higher than 2.5 inches, so in nude they are much more elongating.

Don't worry about it. She's a transplanted Yankee, Bless her heart. 😉 Being over 60 and having lost a bunch of weight, I'm not really comfortable showing my upper arms (loose skin, etc) as I would with a tank top alone, but use them as a layering basic under a buttoned blouse worn open as a cardigan or jacket alternative. I use higher end short sleeve t-shirts similarly. 😊

I fell in love with the shoe collection from Jenn Ardor. I am collecting the canvas shoes in every color because they fit nicely/comfortable, wear them without socks, simple but different (outward seams), and one inch platform for walking through grass or whatever, the one inch platform makes it far more functional for me since I live in the country just outside of river hotspot for locals and tourists. I can wear them with everything.

Hi, I am just back from a 20-km bike ride with the boyfriend. It's not quite warm enough on the Po Plain for shorts, but I did strip down to one of my new Pima cotton T-shirts: this one in lapis blue with white edging. I have my eye on a pair of pure japanese linen white pants. Linen, like silk, comes in all sorts of weights and qualities. I have an old linen shirt, white with a coral pattern, that has stood the test of time. You can even get away with not ironing it!

Sneakers. I have a wide foot. I'm 65. I've done it all, worn it all, seen it all, when it comes to shoes. Recently I discovered "wide toe box" sneakers in the $40 range on Amazon, and bought a few pairs: white canvas, white leather (a few years back), now all black "water shoes" (that I tried out in Northern California on the beach and they're great!) and my most recent pair is olive on olive (men's size). I am in love with these things. They're minimalist, basic, zero drop, wide enough for my feet, and when I'm walking all around campus some days, wow, they're the only choice for me. Part of what's important to me about curating my closet and watching style videos is really getting to know what works for ME and what fits and what doesn't. It's not about what's in style, or what others want me to buy to promote themselves and their "look" or whatever, it's what fits ME. These shoes fit ME and are very practical.

Thanks for this tip, my toes are always too wide for shoes, it’s so frustrating. I’ve struggled with shoes so much during my 63 years and even considered having my outer, pinky, toes removed. My feet actually measure only a C, or average, width, but most shoes claim a B width. They’re actually an A, to save on expensive leather and “look more feminine”. I’ll check out these on Amazon.

Just ordered the dress, what a terrible website Uniqlo has! One can’t purchase without setting up an account, now I’ll be deluged with emails and texts from them. It took forever to create an account and there are constant pop ups that invalidate the process, forcing one to start over and over again. They don’t need that “can I help you?” pop-up message every minute, on e is enough! It’s not easy to get to the sizing chart, either, they try to force us to use fit software, which I never get good results from. I need to see the body measurements that the clothes are designed for.

I watch you because you live in a hot sticky climate lol...me too. Sometimes it's all I can do to come up with an outfit for the weather and the let's just say surroundings. I grew up in NYC lived in California for 30 years, now I live in TX. The culture shock shows in the time it takes for me to pick an outfit. I visit Florida all the time and the dress code is different. Thanks for keeping me afloat.... Ps If you say dress code in CA, they laugh at you.

@@ANNAREID29 Yes but only in the US. NY girls understand fashion and the seasons, and dressing for the weather since there's 4. In TX you can go from winter to summer in one day, or hours. I made a list of what slows me down in picking an outfit. At any given day you dress for; body type, age, weather, occasion, color, code 😜, taste, style (is it in or out). 8x 365= 2920 girl that explains a lot of what's happening in my closet. I want to simply, but I'm from NY remember... it's ingrained, hard to give up my city style. Remember when Milenia stepped off the plane in those stilettos, and her body guard had to run out and get her a pair of sneakers....lol... don't you wish we all had it like that. You have your work cut out for you. Love your style, keep up the good work.

Great list of basics that would make most people's dressing easier. I'd add one more thing -- high quality sunglasses. If you need prescription glasses like I do, they'll be pricey. If you're lucky, insurance might pay for some or all of it. Mine doesn't, but it's still the best $200+ I need to spend every other year or so.

I’m not a jeans fan, because of fit problems, but I do love white jeans. They look great with everything. Ivory/cream, too. I wear a fair amount of classic-patterned tops, around 30-40% of mine, I would guess, and prefer white jeans with a white-based patterned top, and ivory jeans with an ivory-based patterned tops. Ivory jeans are more available this season than they have been in most season’s, it’s a good time to get a pair. Most jeans called white on websites are really ivory, anyway.

Yes to dresses and skirts, the rest I won't wear hehehe... I just don't have the legs for shorts and since I have about 95% black my shoes are often black, do have one pair light pink sandal-kind of straps and almost nude colored. I cant wear a hat, have very long hair in warmer weather I put it up so I cannot put a hat over that (or maybe an Victorian one, hard to find or expensive and then do not like hats on me). But since I have Lupus I cannot have any sun (light) I use an lovely shaped umbrella/parasol (usually something with a lace on it, yay on the Gothic style, Victorian style would look ok with it). Here in Holland the weather is usually strange, the winters can be cold and the summers pretty hot and the in between days (which are the best days for nice clothing) are few. So it is usually either layers, layers and layers and sweaters (a thinner sweater can be easily worn over a dress btw) or almost nothing ( I love long flowing dresses with a lot of slits in the summer).

Need advise, ladies. Where I live it's very very hot in spring and summer, so I've always worn short shorts (not tight, not hot pants) I have good legs but I'm now 59. I just can’t do button downs. It’s one step too many for me to button all those buttons, plus there is a really good possibility it has to be ironed on top of it.😂

I’m not a hat person, meaning I don’t wear them just for style, but the sun protection of a wide-brimmed straw hat in summer is essential. They help protect against skin cancer, premature skin aging, damage and wrinkles, and dangerous heat stress and heat stroke. I’m a geologist and learned early on that sunhats are essential for those who work outdoors all day. In winter, when it’s dry but cold, I like a brimmed wool hat, like a Panama, instead. In day to day life, just in and put of my car running errands, etc., I don’t bother with hats, and just rely on my high-SPF (70) daily sunscreen. But, during the pandemic, so many restaurants were outdoor-dining only that I started keeping a sunhat in my car. I wear it a lot, most people do here in California, the sun is very strong and hot at our relatively low latitudes. I also have a no-iron white linen shirt that is great for adding extra shade for my shoulders and arms. My Dad, who never wore sunscreen in his 93 years, is constantly having skin cancers removed, so I want to lower my risk, doctors cut these out very deeply, into the top muscle layers, just to be sure. For a woman, this can be quite disfiguring, not to mention the risk of death!

This is such a great comment! My dad is the same - never wore sunscreen and has had all kinds of skin cancers removed! Hats are essential at the beach/pool etc in the summer for that very reason ❤️

It mostly refers to menswear. A button down collar refers to a man’s shirt. A guess if a woman has a collar with buttons then that would be a button down (referring to the collar). A woman’s blouse or shirt that buttons all the way down the front is a button up. In my opinion, it makes sense to call a button up a button down since you would normally start at the top and button down, but I’m not in charge of fashion rules…LOL. I read up on the button down and discovered that it refers to a man’s color. It came about based on a man riding a horse with the collar flopping up and hitting him in the face. Some trivia for the day!!!

I call them button-front shirts, or just shirts, to get around this issue. It’s true, a button-down is a shirt style where the collar buttons to the body of the shirt, a rare feature in women’s shirts and not common in men’s, either. Any top-half garment that opens in the front is a shirt, people have a tendency to call them blouses if they have feminine details or a soft fabric, like silk, but they’re not. Blouses open in the back, usually at or near the neckline.🙂

Me being German I looked up the translations out of curiosity. Both button up shirt and button down shirt translate as a buttoned shirt. No differentiation. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think we learned to call them dress shirts back in the day. Then I googled: What is a collar with buttons called (wrote the question in English) and yes it said buttondown collar. 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️

Please, please, stop with the basic white shirt. Some people do not suit white, don't wear t-shirts for work, or just have breasts and/or small children. No white thing survives the day with me. But on every video or blog - white t-shirt....I look like a fast food joint employee in one.
