10 Star Trek Cameos You (Probably) Missed 

Iggy Pop in DS9's "The Magnificent Ferengi" as a captured Vorta for a prisoner swap. Nog rigging him up as a walking corpse was hilarious.

Another one in DS9, When Morn is (supposed dead), Quarks grabs a passer by and sits him in Morn's seat. The passer by just so happen to be Morn's actor.

Surprised no one seems to be mentioning Alan Ruck. He played Ferris Bueller's BFF in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and also played Captain John Harriman (the CO of the Enterprise-B) in "Star Trek Generations".

Being a Gen X kid, Christian Slater in Star Trek VI will always be my favorite cameo. "You have hearing problems, Mister?"

Another one to add… Jordan’s King Abdullah II bin al-Hussein played a lieutenant on Voyager. He’s a HUGE Star Trek fan.

My husband got to meet "Quark" in 2008 in Vegas. He loved him as Principal Snyder in Buffy the vampire slayer! He said he liked working on Buffy. My husband passed away in February 2018. He had been to other Conventions, but this was my first one. He even had a TNG costume made that he and his friend dressed up one year. DS9 was his favorite. We got to see "Spock" talk about the new reboot movie. The movie poster we got has the original release date that got changed for some reason! I loved going to Star Trek The Experience before it went away. Quark's bar had really good food! We saw the Doctor from Voyager on his phone outside the convention center.

Not really known to the public, but known as the author of The Last Lecture lecture and subsequent book, Randy Pausch, a Carnegie Melon professor diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (which was ultimately a terminal diagnosis) was offered a very brief speaking role on the 2008 Star Trek reboot movie, on the Kelvin bridge he says, “captain we have visual.” RIP.

Patrick Swayze (Star Trek: The Final Frontier) as young Sarek and Christian Slater in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country) as the crewman who bothered Sulu in his quarters.

You missed Mae Jemison (astronaut and superhero) she played transporter operator Lt. Palmer in the episode "Second Chances". She was the first female black astronaut in space, I can't believe she wasn't number 1 on the list.

There was also Seth MacFarlane in Enterprise.

One more to add, John Tesh was the final holo-Klingon to hit Worf with a pain stick for his ceremony in The Icarus Factor.

No love for Christian Slater in Undiscovered Country?

Jane Wiedlinof the Go-Gos was in Star Trek IV for about 5 seconds as an Officer on screen whose ship was disabled by the Probe.

Clint Howard, Opie Taylor's real life brother was wonderful in every role he played on 4 different ST series; Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Star Trek: Discovery. There is an interval of 51 years between his first role and his latest role.

Yep that was Mick Fleetwood I'd recognise him anywhere 🙂

More actors cameo'd as VOY crew members than there were crew members on the ship

Doesn't belong on this list because it's one you couldn't miss, but all time greatest Trek cameo was Stephen Hawking.

Dwayne Johnson had a cameo in the Voyager episode "Tsunkatse"

That sceen in the Good Shepperd when Janeway seems lost was funny if we remeber that she said like 3 time in Relativity that she has been burried in the scematics for 3 months and could walk the corridors blindfold :)

I remember Teri Hatcher as a transporter operator in The Outrageous Okada I think it was called.

In VOY 'Message in a Bottle', Andy Dick played the EMH-2, along with Judson Scott's Romulan Commander role. Quite an episode it was 😁🖖

Harve Bennet was also the voice you heard in the opening narration for The Six Million Dollar Man. He did the first part and Richard Anderson did the second part.

Totally need to see Sean's likeness and voice appear as a character in Lower Decks, maybe the new transporter chief?

You missed Melvin Belli as Gorgan in the TOS epsode "And the Children Shall Lead". It's a little old, but so am I! :)

I can think of a few others. DC Fontana (story editor for the original series) was in The Motion Picture as one of the spectators watching the ship leave dock. And near her was David Gerrold, who wrote "The Trouble With Tribbles". David would appear again in Deep Space Nine, as part of Enterprise Security in "Trials and Tribble-ations".

Another hidden one is “A Nightmare on Elm St’s” Heather Lagenkamp. She was the security officer manning the brig where Harrison/Khan is being held on the Enterprise in “Star Trek Into Darkness.” Her husband’s company was doing the makeup effects work, so they put a mask on her and she appeared as an extra.

Leonard Nimoy also says “scanning, indications negative at this time” when Kirk asks McCoy to scan for ships.

Of the all these interesting tidbits, the most "wow" one to me was the fact that Nimoy and Bennett passed within two days of each other. Didn't know that. Real "wow"!

You're right, Sean; I think that you'd do well in a cameo. In fact, many big fans could potentially make for good cameos due to their devotion to the ST universe, I think. 😊

Agree with Sean about the Excelsior- she is a beauty, especially if compared to the Galaxy class and Oberth class vessels. Sean should cameo in the new Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Harve Bennett’s character was named Robert Bennett (from the Star Trek Encyclopedia). Missed cameos: Trek producer Rick Berman was in These Are the Voyages... (Enterprise) James Worthy as Klingon smuggler Koral in ST:TNG’s Gambit; for ‘size comparison’, Counselor Troi was seen walking up to him, he’s easily the tallest Klingon in any Trek show to date.

As someone who saw Star Trek TMP in theaters, I remember people actually walking out on the film saying it was boring.

I saw Star Trek the Motion Picture in Piccidilly in London either late 79 or early 80 can't quite remember still love it to this day.

Michelle Philips was in that one TNG episode. Hardly a cameo, she had a role in the episode.

Nolan North was also a helmsman on the Vengeance.

Randy Pausch in a "blink and you'lll miss it" moment as a member of the Kelvin bridge crew saying, "Captain, we have visual". Randy was notable for writing the book, "The Last Lecture", when he had been given some number of months to live. Appearing on Star Trek had been one of a number of things he had listed on his dream list he never expected to come to fruition that then happened.

I don’t know. I think a Star Trek Academy show would do really well. There is tremendous opportunity for storylines and for introducing new characters for future mainline shows. I’d like to see it happen.

About 2 years ago i rewatched all of Voyager. When Tom Morello popped up, it threw me for a few minutes. And I had watched the original episode 20 years ago. It took me a moment to go oh yeah, he had a small cameo. I was almost as surprised recently as I was the first time because I had forgotten all about it. I know he was a huge Trekkie, so he talked his way into a cameo.

The reason harve Bennett character was called "admiral bob" was because this was the nickname for Robert a heinlein, a major influence on a large numbers of people in sci-fi and space work

Jim O’Heir (Jerry, Garry, Larry Gergich) from Parks and Rec was in a Voyager episode. Just realized that the other day.

In the 2009 "Star Trek" movie, W Morgan Sheppard also had a cameo as the Vulcan Science Minister. I believe that was his last Star Trek role.

Did anyone mention that Seth McFarlane was an engineer under Trip in Star Trek: Enterprise? I think he was only featured in the final season, but he only has a line or two for the handful of times we see him

In the original Series their were a few big stars who appeared in a few episodes. A Piece of the Action, what are little girls made of, Apollo, and a few others too.

You also missed LA Laker great James Worthy who played a very tall Klingon in a two part episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Funny thing is I still remember him not from Star Trek although I knew he played in it but rather from Buck Rogers in the 25th century where he played an ambassador who literally takes off his head to get them to where they’re supposed to be have holding the meeting and who has a romance, with Bucks lady friend and I don’t know if you call her a friend with benefits his lady friend if you will , Wilma. I always found him an actor worth watching.

Fun Fact about the Klingons in ST:TMP They were originally going to have a NEW ship, the D-10, which had the D-7 command pod but had a much beefier main hull and engine nacelles that were more tucked in on shorter wing struts. Because of the new makeup on the Klingons, though, it was decided to go with the D-7M (K'T'inga) for the sake of continuity. A former friend of mine, at an auction, actually purchased the ACTUAL D-10 model that Paramount was going to use! It was 3 feet long, had fully functional lights, and still had its mounting points supposedly for use in a blue screen filming gantry.

they differently need to do a Starfleet academy because all we get to see is the ships and stations that have the captains and officers an academy series would be beneficial to see what earth is like in the startrek universe yes we get glimpses with Picard but a full series would be so much better

Star Trek: Academy was on TV in the 1990s and early 2000s, I remember seeing ads for it and it was a kids show that didn't do well

Ethan Phillips aka Neelix got an uncredited speaking cameo as a holographic bouncer who confronted the Borg in First Contact. He wasn't wearing any makeup prosthetics but, his voice is un mistakable.

Funny how "good shepherd" is Voyager's Lower Decks episode and in complete contrast to what Lower Decks was going to be. Also Janeway must have stopped studying Voyager's plans, as she bragged knowing the corridors in and out that she could walk them blindfolded :D
