I'm Norwegian too, but lived in Denmark my whole life. Norway is one of the most beautiful places on the planet, and i've noticed that Danish people in general have great respect for Norwegians. However, the prices on food in Norway is crazy high, and i hope the politicians will one day realise that a lot more people worldwide will visit Norway if they dial down those crazy prices on food. I wish i could afford to go to Norway more often.
Also: at new year the Queen makes a new years speech and almost all 6 million Danish pepole is watching it so theres totally quiet in all the Streets. Random fact ahahah
Even though I’m not from Denmark I still feel so familiar with it. We spend our vacation every year there and I’ve spent about a year of my life there now. I don’t know any Danish but I wish I could. I actually kinda plan on moving there when I’m older. Love this country, its beauty and the people so incredibly much. See you for christmas Denmark ♥️
@@Noob-ye3hs You Danish people are dope!! By the way I'm from Zambia🇿🇲, a country in southern Africa and it's the country where you can find one of the world's largest man made lake and largest waterfalls. Nice talking to you, bro😎
1. Denmark was the first country to legalize porn 2. We have something called SU which means if you study you get money for it to live on 3. It’s free to go to the hospital. 4. Even though it’s illegal in the US to drink when you are under 21 it’s legal to buy alcohol when you are 16 or older.
You can’t talk about Denmark without nameing our food, weather and explain the word hygge 😊 thank you for the video, loved your voice, your energy and your enthusiasm 😍
Such a beautiful country and lovely architecture ! My Great Grandparents left Denmark for America in the late 1890's. I'm want to visit Denmark some day .
Wrong... Our ancestors is the vikings. The vikings lived in the nordic countries, such as Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Some munk came to Denmark and changed everything. Look the rest up. This is something the danes learn very early in the school.
Denmark was the first country in the world to legalize porn. Denmark was one of the first countries that allowed gay weddings. As vikings, Denmark had a major influence on world trades. We invented LEGO, that means: "Lej Godt", on english: "Play Good". We invented Wienerbrød, in England it's called: 'a Danish'. We have the largest alphabet, after z we have the letters Æ, Ø and Å. We have a hill named sky mountain, which we call a mountain, but it is only 147 m above sea level. We are a country where you go to the doctor for free and operations are free. Danes use irony so much we sometimes do not even understand it ourselves. Danes have a special word "hygge" for that cozy feeling of togetherness. It means relaxing in great company, and it can not be translated into other languages. The Danish language has no word for "please". When crossing the road Danes typically wait for the traffic signals to change to "go". Even if the road is clear!
Denmark still HAS a major influence on world trades, seeing that Mærsk accounts for some 40% of world sea shipping, and is the largest shipping company in the world. But we do NOT have the largest alphabet at all... Norwegians have Æ,Ø & Å too, and Sweden has Ä, Ö & Å. Our alphabet is only consisting of 29 characters, whereas Czech alphabet as example is consisting of 43 characters, and Slovakian of 46 characters. Cambodia supposedly has the worlds largest with 74 characters.
alberto cassinelli nah we didn't destroy Greenland pretty much still there, global warming is destroying Greenland, but Denmark is an agricultural nation, and world leaders in green energy
alberto cassinelli and drunken I read some statistic saying we drink a lot, sure we love our beer and meet with friends, neighbours who for a beer often, but doubt we got drunk from 2-3 beers, and yes we are social democratic and we love it, cause it's part of our culture
@@andersbuchjeppesen5493 You don't have to be 16 to drink alcohol, you just can't buy it before that. But you can't buy alcohol for a youngster either. A lot of people do it anyway...
I started to get interested in this country after i saw the impact on the world of Norse/Viking Expansion. Its language its quite cool as well, even if i expected more similarities than differences.
English is in fact a norse language. The danish vikings taught the keltic- speakink englishmen to speak danish. An example: vil du åbne vinduet -- will you open the window. A lot of english towns have danish names, Grimsby, Harlow, Stansted
Fun fact!!! Most american of english descent ar of Northern English Danelaw heritage which means that a thousand years ago there ancestors were Danish Vikings how settle at Manchester UK, Manchester Tennessee and Manchester New Hampshire.....so you might have a bit of danish in you :-)
And now, thanks to immigration, we are on the way out! Your Cultural Heritage............................? Denial, Deceit and Delusion, to borrow a mantra!
Some may have a drop of Norwegian (and Swedish) blood as well :-) Many in the Danelaw were Danish, but not all. The Anglo-Saxon didn’t differ between Norwegians and Danes they called all Norsemen (Scandinavians) Danes.
I am going to visit Denmark this coming June on my way to other Scandinavia countries. Will only stay a few days there but I can't wait. I have always wanted to visit the country of Hans Christian Andersen! Thank you so much for this great video!
I'm from Denmark, a lot of the things you said were good facts. Some issues with pronouncing the words correctly, but we don't care. Also, you said stuff I didn't even know off, so I thank you for making me acknowledge these things. Tak fra Danmark
The part about the two stones in Jelling, it was only the small one that was sat up by Gorm. The other one was sat up by Harald Blåtand and talked about him making the danish Cristian years before it even happened
so yeah you missed; Lego! Noma worlds no 1 restaurant. Maersk worlds biggest shipping. Novo Nordisk, world leading supplier of insulin. The Embarrassing Prince Husband to the Queen. The Queens self-planned Royal Glass Sarcophagus!! The free 'state' of Christiania, Niels Bohr, Hamlet, H.C.Andersen, Medicon Valley, Vestas world leader of Wind Mills, etc. ... a few things.
Fun facts to consider. Denmark and Sweden are the 2 countries in the world, who have had the most wars between them. Denmark is known for its architecture, fashion and food. Having some of the worlds best restuarants and chefs. Denmark has the oldest amusement park called Bakken (The hill), that lies in a forest called dyrehaven north of Copenhagen. Also Tivoli has one of the worlds oldest still functioning rollercoasters. We love bikes. We are a great sports nation compared to our size, with many world champions in big sports like swimming, sailing, badminton, tennis and handball. And several others near the top. Also we have LEGO and the worlds largest container shipping company (Maersk). Also we are a proud people. We have the oldest flag in the world. The danish kingdom is actually the 11th biggest in the world in size. But UN doesn't count Greenland and Denmark together.
HavocSphere The comment said that Denmark made LEGO, not ”denmark was the first country in the world to create small bricks with holes in them”. LEGO stands for Leg Godt which is ”play well” or ”fun play” in Danish. It’s a Danish company, and the lego bricks are Danish. It doesnt matter if there was some kind of wooden toy that was similar in what, the 1700s.

Omg when you was takling about the tallest place in Denmark i was Like omg because the clips are SO close to were i live Like if i wanna be there i Can just go outside and walk a little bit and then be there and i have great memeries at the first place and also the other one
Benjamin we kinda still or had Greenland and Greenland is bigger than the rest off Europe so when we had Sweden Norway and some off England we owned much more than half a continent!
Greenland is considered to be part of the North American continent, and even then it only became a Danish colony in 1729 -- so only a bit less than 700 too late to part of the "North Sea Empire", and aroun 200 years too late to part of the "Kalmar Union" :P
you forgot that IDA has announced the designation of the Danish islands of Møn and Nyord as Scandinavia's first International Dark Sky Park and International Dark Sky Community ( møn
My great grandfather was A Sorensen then changed his name to Jansen when he came to New Zealand. I am trying to find my relatives in Denmark and i want to perform my Maori misic in copenhagen too.
one of the best vids in other countries that I've seen so far. just one little thing though. Margaret is phonetically pronounced ma-grey-tha not as you said. other than that little chuckle we had here in DK, its pretty much spot on. cheers
Also, fun fact - 70 million years ago, part of Denmark was under a sea :) At chalk cliffs like Stevns Klint or Møns Klint, you can find today fossils of the animals that lived in that sea
Casper Richter we would not try to change any country but i'm living in dk and i observed and noticed many times. Although women are free to take hijab but they have to face many problems especially to get a job as a professional
Denmark also have the oldest flag in the world, the history of the flag turned into a legend because of the age, it says that the flag fell from the sky during the battle of Lindanise 15 june 1219, also called the Valdemar battle, in Estonia. 🙂 🇩🇰
You prounonced Magerrettes name wrong when you said it was prounonced that way on Danish we prounonce it like "M-eh-greh-tt-ehhh like you say "Eh?" and you say "ehhhhh..."
