I get tattoos because I enjoy the art. The art I like at the time is indicative of the person I am. Getting a tattoo is a commitment and I may not like the tattoo later I will never regret them. They are who i once was and i wont bully myself over who i was.

@@bw0ns4mdi35 i think the point ally was trying to make was not that you should go get tattoos on your hands, but more jsut get what you want and dont get hung up about caring what random strangers think when they see them. Sure maybe if you work in a profession that is a little more on the conservative side and having hand tatoos might, wrongfully i should mention, effect your job security, maybe dont get that kind of tattoo. But everyday theyre getting more and more accepted as a cultural norm since more people are understanding that it really doesnt actually reflect anything about the persons character other than "i like how this tattoo looks" and thats fine.

That's a great tattoo. To me tattoos should have a meaning of some sort behind them even if it's small. I have a few tattoos I want to get, one of them being the swirl kakashi has on his shoulder in Naruto. Naruto means alot to me and the series is the reason I am how I am today. I would also want to get a branch on my forearm with some sort of flower (most likely something like this 🌸) on it. Either 3 or 7 flowers to represent my 2 cousins and grandad who sadly passed and maybe my family just because.

When my grandfather was on his deathbed the subject of tattoos came up and my uncle and I stated we always liked the tattoo on granddad’s forearm ( basic military tattoo). He stated “ yeah, that was the stupidest thing I ever did.” So my uncle and I inquired a little deeper as to this fact. Granddad said the two failed attempts to escape from the Germans in WW 2 were due to that tattoo because the Germans could confirm his identity by the tattoo. So grandpa spent 27 months as a POW, he did escape a 3 rd time and got away but may have been a lot less without the tattoo.

@@Random_Fanatic Appreciate you bringing a Christian perspective, but I think there's a difference between being marked by God and being marked by a tattoo artist. Like maybe tattoos/body markings are all bad unless they are created directly by God. We can see similar dichotomies with idols. God says there shall be no FALSE idols, yet he is presumably fine with true idolatry like Jesus on the cross or whatever else (Catholics especially use idols and symbols). I don’t agree with don’t get any “tribal” tattoos at all. I think the patterns of some tribal tattoos are awesome and you can put a lot of meaning behind the symbols and design you choose. For instance, Celtic designs are awesome looking as well as Polynesian

Don’t know about Celtic tattoos but Polynesian tattoos are highly based in Polynesian culture itself. Like I understand if you respect the culture and just admire it but the tattoos themselves mean things in Polynesian culture that only apply to Polynesian people ya know? Like for example there’s certain patterns for certain families, ancestors etc. which would make it difficult for a non-Polynesian person to get a tattoo for.. 👍

@@Milo-lq2cs I kinda know what youse mob are getting at here because from an Aboriginal standpoint a lot of my tattoos have significant meaning to me but mean something else entirely to others such as the various cultural insignias I have on my right arm being that of 2 guns (pump Action shotgun and .308 rifle) crossed with a fishing spear on top and wrench on the bottom on my bicep as well as a fishing/hooked knife on my wrist with seaweed wrapped around it which slightly obscure the text "kill all betrayers" with a small -XIII- on the blade handle (symbolising the magic/culture that was lost) with various types of fish hooks on my fingers and a mangrove tree paw print map on my forearm which leads to a constant food source where I'm from but for some reason I get one look and all they see is either hippie, airy-fairy nonsense because of the trees and flowers or they think I'm part of some gang/cult or (like in most cases) it's both. But yeah nah that's just my 10 cent's on the issue, I guess what I'm getting at from all this is that the things that people don't understand are the things that they are usually afraid of thus making the thing that you believe in (be it music, art or religion) exist in an infinite number of spaces that could either be good or bad depending on that individuals dealings with said group. But yeah nah like I said that's just my 10 cent's worth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@@loladanger You are absolutely right. You should not work anywhere that your employer or clients would be offended by your tattoos. But, that leads back to the previous statement of your tattoos limiting your employment options. If your career aspirations do not include such professions such as chief of staff at a hospital, attorney, airline pilot, hedge fund manager, Fortune 500 CEO, etc, then a visible tattoo will not matter. If youre gonna get tattoos, think about what you want before you get it, think about the placement and how it fits into your life style not because some one said dont put it there, and then choose an artist who specializes in the style you like or want and has experience. Not my fault his tattoos look like he paid 20 bucks to have a friend experiment with tattoos on his body. now the real dont is Dont go to a tattoo establishment drunk and think tour gonna get a good tattoo, dont go to a tattoo establishment and you didnt eat and drink water first. If you cant handle the pain dont get a tattoo, and most importantly if you feel like you cant commit to a tattoo, then dont get one.

Not really he straight out said you cant get this, you cant put a tattoo here etc. The fact that he had 2 tattoos is kinda relevant, you wouldnt ask a person who had no tattoos for advice. I wouldnt ask someone who had they type of tattoos he had for advice because he has very little experience with tattoos. And you shouldnt get one until you find the artist that is pure perfection in your eyes. Its ok to hold out.

Got a tattoo at the age of 28 back in 2017. Always thought of what I would get since I was 19. I never rushed it. In 2016 I decided I would get a dragon 🐉 tattoo since I was born in the year of the dragon and is also my favorite mythological creature. Went to Thailand 🇹🇭 the following year and got the tattoo there on my wrist. It’s size is between small and medium. It’s perfect. Most of the time people can’t notice it too. That was an unexpected plus I guess lol. Take your time people.

Okay... 2, 3, 4... I have a really good reason for having a hand tattoo. (It’s not a big one) my two brothers also have these exact same tattoos on their hands.. it’s of a crescent moon with 3 stars around it. My mother had it and it was her first one she’d ever gotten. She passed on December 23rd 2010... She was 34. As sort of our way of remembrance my brothers and me got that moon and stars on our left hand between our thumb and index finger. sadly the discrimination still happens and its up to us, the younger generations to show that tattoos are completely unrelated to your employability. i am planning on getting my neck tattooed one day and maybe my hand and i don't care. if the world wants to hate me for that without knowing anything about me that's their problem. i can handle it.

Y’all weird for letting another person tell you what’s wrong and right for YOUR tattoos. There is nothing “alpha” about letting a guy discourage the things YOU choose to decorate your body with. That being said, he’s absolutely right about not getting a partner’s name on your skin. In most circumstances, that’s a really sketch and unstable decision to make, given the fact that marriages and relationships end.

Yeah I have to disagree with you on the tribal part. As a Pacific Islander, tribal tattoos are part of my culture. On this part of the world, you don't get a tribal tattoo for the sake of just getting one. You get it to tell your story. It's literally like you're body is a blank sheet of paper and the tattoo is the autobiography you write on said paper. I dunno how you guys do it in the mainland though.

I chose the style/theme of my tattoo and where to get the ink very carefully. It's on my right shoulder blade. People see it only when I want to. And I think having a single tattoo is a lot cooler than having many. Not only that one tattoo is full of meaning and purpose, and my body doesn't look like a billboard.

I've got my hands done and it makes no different for most employment options, I'm in the British army and you'd think they'd be strict on it but they're not, if people want tattoos anywhere on their body then why not, shouldn't make a difference to other people as it's not their body, I'm proud of all of my tattoos and always will be

Going on the story aspect, my first tattoo will be a small flower, an arrow and the date -4/19/16- to commemorate a little girl who I knew who passed away from cancer. It's got a huge meaning to me and it's something I want to be able to look back at and remember this amazing little girl who changed my life for the better 💜

Hawks Art I would get a tattoo of the lyra constellation (A lyra is luke a mini harp most commonly known as the instrument Cupid plays.) and have a galaxy kind of abstract blue scene behind it. This is because lyras are used in Arias which are long songs with an opera singer singing solo. Which is how I was named. The name and deeper meaning behind it is amazing and means so much to me.

I want to get a spaghetti pot, because when I was a kid my favourite food was my grandpa's spaghetti. He passed away from pancreatic cancer when I was young and it was the hardest thing in the world seeing him in the hospital and I never felt like I said goodbye. It's so hard to spend time with someone you know will die soon and I was still young so I'd never experienced death before. I also want either a campfire because my dad and me would tend the campfire when we went camping and that meant so much to me, or a semicolon for the semicolon tattoo project. The idea is to raise awareness for mental health because a semicolon is where the author could end the sentence but doesn't. I have anxiety and I want to raise awareness for mental health.

Cool list. Here is my list. 1. Don't get any corporate logos. 2. Don't neglect the spell check. 3. Don't assume you are the only one who's tattoos have some deep personal meaning. 4. Stupid tattoos can be just as cool as well thought out ones 5. Don't copy other people's tattoos 6. Don't get tattoos of your zodiac sign (that pretty much tells people you wanted a tattoo but didn't know what to get). 7. Don't try to attach meaning to an impulsive tattoo after the fact. Just telling people it was a stupid thing you did one day is a better story than telling people a bunch of bullshit about what it "represents". 8. Don't listen to everyone else. Get whatever you want. If you want your girlfriend's name and truly believe you will be together forever, I say go for it. Sometimes the story of the mistake is what makes it cool. It's not the tat that's cool, it's how you wear it. And if it turns out to to not be a mistake and you find yourself showing off your wife's name on your arm to your great grandchildren... I'll bet there's not many feelings that come close.

Lesli Merin get it if that's what you like. But I do have one more piece of advice... Wait at least 3 months, a year would be better but 3 months of you are really inpatient. Print the idea, put it somewhere where you can see it every day and look at it carefully. Even alter it if you want. If it's still what you want, I say get it!
