Screw coaches, I’ve seen coaches favor players all the time and ruin other players chances of wanting to get seen by scouts, have their time to shine and prove themselves, etc. Especially in my area. Those players that were favored never ended up going anywhere either till this day. They just party and snort coke and do every other hardcore drug now days. They never deserved the favoritism. Most coaches suck.

For some coaches that may be, but even then the player needs to be aware of the situation, know what the coaches are looking for and why they're favoring certain players, and adjust accordingly. Control what you can. Nothing else solves the issue for the player.

*obi infinite kenobi* Not many kids or teens have that choice to leave. For example some who’re in Highschool. Not like they can just up and go to another school, unless they have money. And some can’t afford college thus why they hope to get noticed and get a scholarship but coaches take that away from them with vs favoritism. They ruin younger people’s dreams and make them feel like they’re not good enough.

(At least, that's how it works in my country) Coz my coach plays favorites too, and because of that, our team keeps losing 🤦. so I'm leaving the college team, and going to play for a club...

1. Don’t overdribble 2. Not listening and applying 3. Not bringing intensity/hustle 4. Not focusing on what’s happening 5. Playing outside of your roles or strengths 6. Not passing others the ball if double teamed or if their open 7. Setting Sloppy Screens/Weak Screens 8. Learn the offense during games 9. Coming back next season and being worse 10. Go to open gyms when you get the chance

It’s all good man I know I’m 2 years late but it’s ok. I didn’t make the team once and 6th grade and it broke my spirit but my dad told me to keep playing and show them you deserve to be on the team, now I’m in 9th grade and I was starting on the varsity team.

11) Dont slack off at home. Coaches will know when your slacking off, and they WILL go harder on you in practice. 12) Never ask them to go easy on you in practice. 13) Stop complaining about things like playing time. Prove that you deserve that playing time and you will get it.

For #5 I’m a great shooter/good scorer and a fantastic passer and high iq guy but because i was taller they forced me to be a big man which is my weakest skill and it stopped me from making the team always. Yep I did. I played with him and every time I got got the ball, literally ever time, he asked for the ball. Now, I hate letting people down so I just said yes and gave him the ball. When I asked for the ball and I was open and he was double teamed, he ignored me and air balled the shot.

Basically im an amazing post player and mid range i have the skills to be a starter but the thing is im 6 foot only and that isnt tall enough to play post i also have a lot of jump which i use to grab rebounds and i am great on predictions of where the ball is gona rebound so i know where to send the other center and i try to block him off but i still miss rebounds because of my hight

people always tell me what do you do like they say that they never see me going out to parties and never see me out with friends and they call me lazy. But for the whole summer all I done was 4-8 hours of basketball everyday and workouts.and I tell them that I want to make basketball something in my career and not going to parties because those never teach me anything.i always stay motivated

Do you have any tips of feeling less nervous while your trying out or playing a game? Because I have anxiety while playing sports

Same. When I’m in practice Ik how to play and my coach is always telling me do that in the game but when it’s game time a freak and play like I’ve never seen a basketball.

go to a public court and find someone to play against trust me you might be nervous to go up to them but once you get over that everything else is minor
