“Never arrive empty handed”. I love this. It seems to be a lost art, along with thoughtful thank you notes. I agree that small, thoughtful, elegant gifts make a huge impression and make you memorable. Loved this point.
I never ever arrive empty-handed. I always thought it was a kind thing to do and started doing it at a young age (I'm 32 now). Even if it's wine, a box of chocolates, flowers...
@@fers4822 I like to bring unique towels from craft boutiques, where a talented woman creates a pretty kitchen towel. These are difficult to find, though! Small lotions, foaming soaps, and candles are good, too, if quality. No one we know drinks, so we don't do wine, and flowers are iffy, because they will already have a centerpiece. Flowers must come with a vase so she doesn't have to search for one, and cut the stalks, etc. I'd love to hear what other people give!
I'm Greek and you are so right about Mykonos. It's so overpriced that most Greek people can't afford to go there, the island is overcrowded and build beyond its carrying capacity and a lot of not classy, rich, arrogant people go there, destroying the image of the whole island. Greece has many other beautiful islands.
@@Alex22.22 That's true. Santorini's landscape is one of a kind. But in general, the last years in Greece there is heatwave almost every day during July and August. I think vacations during May, June and September are better, cheaper, less crowded.
Anna, the short dress tip is so true. My father used to say this… if you have to keep pulling your dress down, its too short and therefore not appropriate. There are plenty of pretty and classy dresses out there - you don’t need to show off everything!
So funny - my husband has learned from me to never arrive as a guest empty-handed! We were going to some friends and I wasn't feeling well snd couldn't join him. I was so very proud when the hostess called the next day to say thank you for the flowers... on the way there he realized he didn't have a gift and stopped to get them! 💗
Same here. Had to teach my husband with his family. He thinks bcuz we are going to his cousin's house that they are family and we don't need to bring anything just show up. Makes me cringe! I make him stop the car at a fresh market to get flowers or wine or appetizers and snacks for their children.
The short dress observation is spot on. I would say in general that if you're constantly having to adjust your clothing, it's not the piece of clothing for you. The same goes for hairstyles.
The last one is SO important. I remember when I went to an old friend's house for the first time, I brought a bouquet of flowers for his wife. They were so shocked, because no one ever thought of an offering for her when visiting him. Ladies, let me tell you, when you take care of these details towards others, you feel like a QUEEN.
That's sweet, but I hope you trimmed the stems and brought the flowers in a vase. Your hostess does NOT want to be scrambling to do those things, believe me.
@@juliannehunter495 Not necessarily. Most of us have vases easily at hand, and a florist bouquet in a cheap vase can be a little tacky. By all means, please take care of the stems and any trimming, then leave it to the hostess to place them in a vase. I was once told by a very elegant older woman that bringing an arrangement rather than cut stems implied that the hostess didn’t have the skills to arrange them herself. Best of all is a bouquet from your own garden.
I agree with you, Anna. Bodycon short dresses can make a woman look really awkward and not elegant at all! OMG when they keep pulling down the dresses 🤦🏻♀️ I genuinely wish that fashion had stayed as it was back in the 40s-50s. I love midi dresses! They're elegant, comfortable and appropriate for several occasions!
May I add to your makeup tip, Anna? If you’re going to spend the day outdoors, I recommend going for a very simple, neutral, even minimal eye look. Dark or elaborate shadows, eyeliner, and fussy brows can look harsh and out of place at an outdoor event, and direct sunlight isn’t kind to blending errors.
Hey Anna! I have some video suggestions which I personally feel would help all our elegant ladies and me: 1) Positive Elegant affirmations video: A video with all affirmations that we can play in a loop to become elegant inside out. 2) How to set boundaries in a marriage/committed relationship as a woman: A detailed video with steps and examples/case studies etc. 3) How to stay elegant as a new mother: Taking care of a baby along with a job/education is daunting. During this phase, a woman prioritizes her baby, and self-care, especially when financially tight, takes a back seat. This is when a man sees a woman in her most vulnerable state, and it is not easy for a woman to maintain that elegant mindset with all the stress. Please do these videos from the perspective of women who cannot afford much money on their looks, house-help, or help for the baby, etc. Thanks in advance. I will post any other video ideas that I get.
No 3. I am with you. I had my baby after so many obstacles. Now he is almost 1 years. I also want to be elegant as a mother. I mean extra tips. I checked your videos. Thanks for this. It feels like ages.
I really enjoy this channel, however I'm always amazed that it's even necessary to share these tips. I'm a Senior Citizen so everything mentioned here was standard practice when I was young. Thank you for bringing back elegance and common sense.

I started watching your videos at 21. I had no guidance from my mother or anyone else about how to dress or what not to do. I noticed I don't do any of these things you pointed out in this video. You've raised me well, Anna 😂
Midi dresses are my new obsession. I love dresses that are knee length and longer. There’s a reason why Grace Kelly wore longer hem lines: knees aren’t the most pleasant body part lol
Your tips are really helpful. During last 2 years of pandemic, I was working from home and I utilized most of my clothes. Now when I am building my wardrobe, I am using your videos for reference. I am seeing a huge improvement in my wardrobe. Thanks a ton 😊
Fantastic tips! Having spent tons of time on boats, I can attest to your tip re: keeping your pedi on point. I would add that there are many brands and styles of footwear that appropriate for boat decks, and please don't wear short dresses/skirts. Much like being on a picnic, longer dresses or trousers will be much more comfortable and classy whilst on board. Hope everyone has a lovely summer
Totally agree - I worked on a yatch, and it is quite frustrating when a woman obviously spends time in looking good - but in the wrong outfits, and totally unaware of deck shoes/barefoot.
Omg! Anna Is back..this weeknd I watched all of your vedios and they are top quality. When I get paid next month I am definitely buying one of your courses. Before 2023 i am turning myself into a elegant lady and all thanks to you.💫🦋Love you Anna.❤ We need a elegant makeup vedio. Also on how to shop for elegant footwear and jewelry(in dept) Elegant hair styles too.. P.s. your looking gorgeous in the red dress.❤❤
I am from Greece, Mykonos is wonderful you should visit Mykonos just not in July and August. The only problem with this island is that is crowded. We have several beautiful islands though that you can visit such as Ios Paros Tinos Rhodes Kefalonia Paxoi
Thank you Anna for this video, it is well appreciated. One thing we all did at some point, which is very cheap and women should never do yet they do ALL THE TIME- is gossip about other women, how they are dressed, how they behave, talk and the list goes on and on. Criticizing other ladies whether with your partner in private or with your girlfriends is the same bad manners, comments of the type: "what is she wearing, ...I can't believe she said this, etc", these are not ladylike behaviours in my opinion. So before learning how to dress, eat, talk, etc. let's just start by being less critical and be more embracing of other women lifestyles. We should stick up for each other. That is true CLASS! I find that women are often more judgemental than men which is appalling. We are all different, life's a journey of learning for all of us, let's just embrace that. Whether nails are chipped or not, an unladylike behaviour stinks more than a bad pedicure. Imagine a lady on the other side who gently help other women without being noticed, I believe her generosity makes her a million times more beautiful than a drop dead top model. Why? Because beauty is in your souls ladies, whether anyone noticed it or not. Be THAT women, and I tell you you would attract people of same caliber in your circle sooner or later.
This is a channel for women who want to elevate their appearances and evolve constantly. Gossiping about individuals is atrocious behavior, however using a unknown person as a random example on what not to do is completely fine. A person should learn from the mistakes of other whether or not they are on a journey.
You're sense of humor is my favorite, Anna Bey. Ive been watching your channel grow for several years, its been such a joy. You deserve every bit of success.
Anna I’m not a lady, but still I love watching your videos. It’s peaceful, fun, relaxing, and educative. Thank you for making the world a more civilized, elegant, and beautiful place! ❤
You’re right. Mykonos is very crowded and very very expensive. You have to be extremely wealthy to go on vacation there Milos or Kimolos is also beautiful and of course Santoruni. Corfu Ithaki and in general Ionian islands or Dodecanese. Amazing destinations
Anna has always featured multicultural models, which is fantastic, and I really appreciate that she is showing more plus size ones as well. It's great to have examples of elegant women who are curvier. Thank you, Anna!
I'd like to add to the makeup point: *just avoid it altogether*. Yesterday I put on some eyeshadow and eyeliner for the first time in months, and even though I used setting spray it has already melted under my eyes in less than 15 minutes! Plus heavy makeup just looks weird in the sun, and when we wear lighter colors and fewer garments.
I am greek, living in Greece and what you say about Mykonos is absolutely spot on. Islands like Mykonos have become rediculously expensive! Most greeks cannot even afford to travel in their own country any more...
Is it the same for Santorini ? i have been in santorini 1 months ago, it was beautiful but everything was so expensive , and i know greek people who lives there are not too rich , and i was thinking how can they live there? can they go to the restaurant ? like us, tourist!
@@maelle6997 Santorini is also a very expensive destination, that's true! You pay for the famous sunset😂 It is very hard for us both to travel to the islands and to live in the city. Gas prices have risen drastically and everything is very expensive compared to our income...
@@christinet.9738 I was so disappointed about the famous sunset 😂 The view is amazing in Fira or Oia that’s true ! but i live in the South of France and we have the same sunset on the sea 😅
@@maelle6997 I know! there are much better places in Greece to enjoy the sunset! It's all about reputation and promotion. But still, it is very beautiful in Santorini too, even though maybe it gets really busy at times with a lot of crowd there and it loses its magic. Southern France is so beautiful!
A video on hostess gifts would be great. I really don't like giving alcohol , and if I don't know them or there home we'll it's difficult. Meanwhile, I was just in Prague last week! Would have loved to run into you!
Wow, so many young ladies here! Wish you all the blessings and happiness in the world! I wish i would have had this knowledge earlier in life and hadn't made all the mistakes i made.
Anna- your clothing is always so beautiful! Most of us cannot afford expensive, gorgeous clothes like that. Would you consider opening a clothing line for those of us who would like to look elegant but don't have a huge budget? A line of not-quite-fast fashion, but not quite super high end, with somewhat affordable pricing? Thank you for your super-helpful videos.
Lol you can find quality clothes at an affordable budget. The internet is a bottomless resource to fulfill this need. Imagine thinking that "opening a clothing line" is as simple and quick as preparing a dinner.
Check out your local Goodwill or Savers in an affluent area. I have seen Armani and Chanel at Goodwill. I buy much of my higher end clothing there. They also have a lot of mass market clothing, such as Talbots, J Crew, Banana Republic, etc.
Totally agree about Mykonos, I’m not saying anything is wrong with it per se, but so many other places in Greece are more beautiful, more friendly and have better beaches! 💙🇬🇷
As a Southerner I wear my sun hat till it’s almost dark. But it’s extremely hot outside without a hat during the summer. Today it got to 104 degrees Fahrenheit with 70 percent humidity.
@@Nofretari Yes ma’am! I giggled a little when she said summer is when people leave their windows and patio doors open. I could hear my mom and dad yelling, “close the door! Are you trying to air condition the whole neighbor?”
Thank you for promoting consideration to your neighbors! The people from apartment upstairs spent last summer in renovations, so I had to endure all machine noise while working from home. In the process they seem to have destroyed all isolation, so now I can hear each time they move a chair, or walk(or they just seem to be excessively noisy people in general). I asked the lady politely to make less noise, we'll see how it works out.
I like your channel. Etiquette rules are correct. Growing up my mother taught me all these rules and so I grew up knowing all of these things. In elementary school, our teachers taught us all these etiquette rules. I went to a public school but when I was going to school, they taught you all about how to be polite and a good citizen.
I'm a Greek and I don't go to Mykonos.... You're right about everything you say , unfortunately. It is a beautiful island that became an overpriced destination targeting a very specific group of visitors... You could visit our other islands if you want to ! 🙂
It is very important to never arrive empty handed. This is a very, very traditional thing in Europe. Anywhere you go, a nice wine, some fresh fruit perhaps - honestly anything. Good tips, very impressed!
I'm obsessed with your channel, it has become a habit for me to watch your videos every day while I brush my long hair after taking a shower ♥️ I’m so glad you are back Greetings from the Middle East 🤚🏻♥️ تحية من الشرق الأوسط ♥️
Thanks and I didn’t know about the “don’t wear perfume to beach”. Not that I do cause, I think scented sunscreens works great, as it is. Just nice to learn new things from your elegant advices. 👍🏼🤟🏼❤️
I used to travel with crossbody bags but they can get heavy on your shoulder, now I alternate between a Chanel, Fendi or LV backpack and is such a game changer for a comfortable yet put together tourist look.
I think sending a hand written - Thank You - note is classy. Though, a lot of people don't or no longer do it - but it something I find to be nice - because someone opened there doors to you.
Anna!! This was such a wonderful video. I’m in my 20’s starting a career in banking in NYC. I’m struggling to figure out how to act in work social circles, how to dress professionally and still fun (not boring). Also how to be my best self in a male dominated industry. Do you have any videos around this??
I’ve been watching your videos for a few years and despite i wouldn’t consider myself very elegant I can definitely apply all your tips to my personal style and I can say I upgraded. Behaviour and style. Thank you so much.
I feel like everything youve said i’ve always felt it was common sense. It sound snooty but i think some people are just raised with habits instilled. Thank you Anna!
I love this!! Especially, never show up empty handed at someone's home. When my sister got engaged and they stayed with us, her fiancé gave us lovely small gifts.
These are such wonderful tips! Especially not going to anyone’s house empty-handed. I believe you don’t have to bring anything extravagant but always something. 🎁
I agree with all apart from the dewy foundation one - for me the photos you chose to use were gorgeous too😂. I have quite dry skin and summer is my time to shine! Also SPF (scream& spray format) tend to add shine too
Omg when i was pregnant last year I also wrote to Anna asking the same question! Even now with a baby I wish she did a video on how to keep elegant while being a Mom to one or more children
@@lilywasserman1852 I was just thinking does Anna even have any children. I’m not sure if she’s a mom. But if she is! I definitely would love her to give us moms some advice
Last tip definitely, always bring something at least a bottle of wine. Regarding bbq there are electric grills you can use indoors. And another tip when on a sailing boat. Always bring sneakers, and be barefoot. No heels a cardinal rule. I m a captains daughter, spent my childhood on boats with my father
Amazing video from Anna, such an powerful energy! Loved all the topics, especially mistake #5 😂 I say: "If you need to pull a dress/skirt down, then don't wear it"
I really like Anna. She manages to keep things to the point, while being so elegant. Thank you for these points, Anna ❤️ You’re creating a lot of value for people and it’s great having you as an advocate for class and sophistication - beauitful treasures we cannot let go of. Thank you again!
Thank you for these tips. I've never been on a boat and may be this summer, so thank you for the tip about making sure your pedicure is on point. I was recently at an arboretum and saw a woman in exactly the predicament you describe - she had on high heels and a very short, very tight dress and was constantly pulling it down. I imagine that distracted from her enjoyment of the arboretum.
I am so very glad you are back Anna!! I am completely lost without your videos!! Please keep more coming!! Videos on elegance never get old. Plus you have helped me become a better more elegant lady! Thank you so much Anna!!😊
Never arrive empty handed. This was drilled into me by my mom, and I remember so many occasions where the host was embarrassed I brought something, never brought something to my home, had never heard of such a thing, thought I was over playing the occasion, or (I am American living in London 15 years) told me ‘only Americans do that. That is so American. We don’t do that here’. But, there is a difference with different British people for sure. It’s a big class difference! The other one I think is a profound difference is sending thank yous. I told someone to be sure to write a thank you email after she went to a job interview and she said no one does that. And, thank yous after having a wedding, baptism, big milestone birthday party, sending Christmas cards to lots of people (they might be lonely!!) - all something that several people I know think is either super American, posh, showing off or just ‘too much’ for any occasion. Good to know I can be sure it is indeed good etiquette, after many awkward encounters that it isn’t/shouldn’t be standard!
Thank you Anna for creating this video for summer elegance. Living in South Florida is such an daily task, dealing with all year round hot weather and these tips were very helpful. Thank you for the checklist, I keep it in a frame in my bathroom ❤️✨
Thank you for the check list Anna! I love the pictures you share of what to do and what not to do. I find myself falling for the good lighting, pretty model or just beauty of a photo I can’t see what’s wrong. So I really appreciate it when you use pictures!
Anna, you are not an influencer to me. You are an elegance expert and Etiquette guru! Great tips. I will have to implement them myself and see what I'm doing wrong.
I live in the tropics. The humidity is very high so some stuff you cannot wear. Leather, will often mold here. I always need to be careful what materials I buy. I agree with the tips. I grew up in Spain, so I'm familiar with summer outfits and live them. Now I live in all year summer and I love dresses, long light pants, a few details and simple chic. Because it's very humid here, I don't use foundation here. I take great care of my skin a lot and just wear blush, lipstick and mascara. Sometimes also eyeliner and I make sure my brows and everything looks very natural and taken care of.
Omg thank you so much for coming back, i was making so many mistakes regarding my outfit.. Miss Anna can you make videos on how to style long pearl necklaces as I have been looking for it on entire youtube but no recent videos are uploaded it will be a great help if you make such video :)
Hi Anna, do you think you can do more videos on shoes? And also instruct us on how certain shoes should fit, and if it’s a good idea to wear no show socks with them? My favorite are ballet flats and pumps, but I don’t know what looks elegant and what’s cheap looking. Also, knowing what kind of trousers to wear with them is another thing, can you wear ballet flats with bootcut trousers or they have to be slim fit or straight fit?
I love Mykonos and the restaurants but agree the island is extremely overpriced with bad roads. The hotels are insane in July, $1000 plus for even 4 star, 25 euros for aperol spritz and 40 euros for a 20 min taxi! Pedicure also a must for summer 💕
Amazing video Anna, I totally agree with #4, there are people that think that because they have a terrace or balcony in their apartments, it is an excuse to have parties in the summer, loud noise and smells from a barbecue. It is just not fair to their neighbors! Much love to you from Spain
Another great tip to ad elegance and color to your summer wardrobe - even on a budget - is to buy beautiful colorfull scarfs and use them as tops or ad them to both your summer hat and bag, so they match. Even shein has so many beautiful ones if you are on a budget. An elegant suer of color is here 2022 🥰
I have missed you, Anna. I am very glad that you are back here. Your videos are clean and pretty refreshing. I agree with you absolutely. I love what you are doing and I hope you are getting such a rest, too! Btw. I like and support the red on you.
