10 Things I Dislike About My Shelby GT350 

Here you go, 10 minor dislikes I have with my 2017 Shelby GT350. Notice I say "dislike", and not hate. That's because this car is unbelievably good. I don't have enough storage on my computer to make a video over the things I love about it. With that said, don't take this video the wrong way ;) Thanks for watching!

I dislike how I don't own one.

When you get into the car push the start stop button without the clutch in to get full power then put it to track and they won’t close 👍🏼

My major dislike; I’m not driving one right now!

when you get in the car, turn it on without starting the engine, press the exhaust button then start the engine. valves will stay open.

I have a GT350R, and I don't like the exhaust valve flapping at startup, either. As you know, the valve is electronically controlled and is activated with electronic solenoids, not exhaust pressure. I believe the "flutter" at startup is from the system running a self diagnostic check to make sure the valves are functioning properly. The one thing I dislike the most about my R is that the clutch pedal gets stuck to the floor when I wind out the gears and try to do fast shifts. The clutch pedal doesn't release fast enough.

Nice! I have a '13 5.0 GT. I was at the dealer in Grapevine getting the airbag replaced and was allowed to drive a '17 GT350. That was a couple of weeks back and I still cannot explain, in words, how it felt. Like losing your virginity (X 10), while on acid. I gonna gets me one of them. Enjoy it!

The 10 things I hate about the standard GT350 1.Its not an “R 2.The rear badge is not red like an “R” 3.The front badge on the grill is not red like an “R” 4.The badge on the passenger side dash is not red like an “R”. 5.The seats don’t have the “R” stitched like an “R” 6.It doesnt have the larger front splitter like an “R”. 7.No carbon fiber wheels like an “R” 8.No carbon fiber wing like the “R”. 9.No red stripe on the steering wheel like the “R” 10.I don’t own either one yet ..😆😆..Great channel 👍

One way to keep the riding mode you like recognized for the next time you start the car; when you park, before you turn off the car, put it in first gear, keep the clutch depressed and turn off the car, keep the clutch depressed for about 10 seconds, turn the car on and it should be good to go!

The vent design is actually kinda smart on Fords part.. If you want the AC flow pointed at you, the area in which the air can flow will get smaller as you turn it. When air flow is constant, and the area the air flows through gets smaller, the speed at which the air flows increases, meaning the air is coming at you faster

Windshield wipers unscrew. Under the black cap/cover, below where the wiper bends. The cap pops off. Loosen the nut 1/2 way. Wiggle the wiper up & down at the hinge. Then adjust the wiper blade up the windshield. Adjust in small. increments.

As an owner who daylies. - Paint is awful. - Driver side windshield wiper chips hood paint when lifted. - No low washer sensor. - Exterior trim comes loose. - Oil consumption is way too high. 1q per 1600m. Dealer says it’s in spec. Having said all that, I’d by another one just for the VooDoo.

for the windshield wiper.. if you turn your car off and flick the wiper lever down(or up) 1 time it will slide up to "service mode" then you can lift them both.

Here's a fun little tidbit... I believe the valves are actuated by a solenoid rather than anything to do with pressure. If you just press the clutch in and wait before starting it, you can hear the valves in the exhaust moving around, and then if you start the car you won't get that loud bark, or weird open-close-open-close behavior.

The reason the AC vents close as you point them away from the window is because most of the heat comes from the window.the side ac is there to cool the heat from the windows.

for the windshield wipers, i turn off my car (s60) when the wipers are vertical rather than when they are resting horizontally, and i set them up that way.

the cold start exhaust opening and closing and opening and then remaining closed is to help warm up more evenly and faster

FYI - The GT350 (Mustangs in general) the Low Gas warning comes on when you have 50 Miles left to go. It bases that 50 Miles off of your MPG Average. So like in my case it warns me between 1/4 and 1/2 Tank.

Gas lights come on when you have 50 miles left in the tank. It’s a standard notification.

I wish they put the logo lights in the mirrors like they did in my 2016 GT convertible-it would be cool to see cobras shining on the pavement at night when you open the doors! And the memory positions for the power seats (if you got the tech pak. I agree about pretty much all you said here except I like the fuel filler on the drivers side. Older mustangs had it on the passenger side. It’s still an awesome car regardless-and you still don’t see many on the road, even 6 years later!

generally good videos but you need to shorten them by minimizing general talking - get to the point....

I average 17.8 MPG in my 2017 BRZ. I rev it out here and there, I fill up once a week tho. I commute to school and work. Occasionally I go out to hang out with friends, not bad in my opinion.

small dislikes but for what we paid for the GT350 we are very happy. I smoked a GT3 the other day that costs double my 2017 GT350! And I like the car better than the ZL1 Camaro...

The gas tank warning goes off not by the fuel gauge but how many miles you have left to go based on the mile per gallon average you are displaying. so it can vary.

What? Naturally aspirated? Never would have guessed that.

Are the valves mechanical or electonic? On the Corvette they are electonic and pulling a fuse is all it takes to keep them open. Also we can control when and how they open from the center console and finally for those that want full control there is a wireless fob that can be bought that communicates with the right fuse so you get full control.

I’m actually blown away about how these dislikes make a lot of sense and you explain them very well. Currently own an e92 M3 and this might be that next step forward. Nice videos 💯 SUBSCRIBED

With my new Corvette I can simply unplug a fuse and the exhaust valves will stay open in all driving modes. I imagine your Mustang has the same solution.

That's interesting that they designed the hood on the GT350s to block the driver's side wiper when it's all the way down. Didn't know that. Not the case for my S550 GT. Also sweet GT350 bro, been subscribed ever since your vid popped up on my feed when you picked her up months ago.

Soooooooooo the #1 thing i DIS-like about my 2018 GT350 is the fake FAKE stitching found on the dash!!!! why in the hell would ford mold stitching on the dash? why not actually stitch the dash? for gods sake.... this is a $70,000 CAR!!! but that's about it. I love LOVE my GT350

Windshield wipers are normal. If you flip the wiper switch on and turn the ignition to off , the wipers will stay in a up position and then you can flip it off the windshield. The reason is that they want the wiper under the hood due to sir flow... *** note: don't forget to flip wipers back before you turn ignition to on.

The reason why your fuel light comes on that early is because the computer calculates how you've been driving since your last fill up. Then determines off of your current mpg when to turn the light on. More conservative driving will bring it more inline with the gauge.

Most of us who like steering feedback with gt350’s like to keep the steering on comfort mode. It gives the most feedback. The sport steering mode feels artificial and numb. Porsche’s and Ferrari’s have super light steering for a reason I suppose.

For the windshield wiper, you might want to check and see if there is a service mode for it. Because on bmws the windshield wipers hit the hood on both sides and to service them you must put them in service mode for the wipers to go up and out

I have daily driven an s550 for 2 years and let me tell you the #1 annoyance is how noisy these cars are. Dash rattles, door panel rattles, transmission noise, driveshaft clunks, etc etc. You don't notice it at first, but once you do they just get louder

Panel gap issues on rear bumper?

I've heard from other owners about horrific, by today's standards, oil consumption. Break in is one thing, but after that, lots of oil used. Makes me wonder about engine longevity. Second is tires. Only Michelin makes that particular size and it's a summer tire. Quite expensive as well. I ran the Michelin Pilot Super sport tires in my 2011 Mustang GT. Serious issues in the rain with hydroplaning. Would love to switch over to all season radials at least for the winter. I was on the edge about getting one, but the oil issue was the deciding factor in changing my mind as this would have been a daily driver

Awesome video! Very informative and that quarter of a thank gas light would drive me up a wall haha! And I get similar gas mileage from my c6! 2009 ls3 cammed making 510whp and I only average 16.5 mpg... but highway i still get over 27mpg! Anyways I'm not a Ford guy but I'd love to drive the gt350 seems solid!

How come on my 2017 gt350, theres only two options for the damper which is normal and sport? But you have sport and track?

I live in Cedar Park, and have the same exact car, bought in May 17’. You really should add the JBL Stealthbox w/400 amp. Unbelievable improvement.

One of my hesitations is the small gas tank size. Most owners get around 200 miles per tank?

Are you able to turn on ignition (without turning on car) open your exhaust valves then push in clutch and start the car with them open?

Good information to know from an owner with approx. 2K miles (as still have the GT350 on my short list for next car) so thanks for the video as definitely worth checking out. Been looking pretty closely at several GT350s over past 60 days or so & was wondering what your thoughts were re: the following add'l minor dislikes/concerns in my notes: 1. Alcantara steering wheel, not easy to clean & suede seems to draw perspiration so have concerns about the accumulating dirt & stuff on that. Also certain others (like service reps) are going to have their hands on it as well. 2. Very low front end clearance, have you experienced any damage or concerns re: that? 3. Seatbelt sorta pulls on your neck with the Recaros, not the greatest for a > $60K MSRP. You had any issues with that? I prefer the convenience pkg. for 2018 with the power seats & leather trim. Wish there was an option for 2 tone seats on the 18 as the mostly dark grey interior is sorta dark & drab IMO 4. Dash trim, IMO the GT performance pkg. design looks better than the plain brushed design in the GT350. Also no carbon fiber option (like on the 18 GT) 5. No sunroof option for a > $60K MSRP. Seems to work alright for the Challenger Hellcat 6. No option for the premium 12 speaker Shaker sound system for a > $60K MSRP All but #2 are sorta minor stuff. The low front end clearance concerns me for a daily driver.

You did not mention it sitting low to the ground and apparently this makes the front likely to scape depending on the angle of the driveway? How big of an issue is this? Been trying to find this out and have not gotten an answer yet.

I have a GT350 being delivered this week... I never liked the idea of having to repeatedly put it into sport exhaust... I'd prefer to LEAVE it there, and if I WANTED it otherwise, I would change it myself. Also, having all the modes default back to presets, and not remember your preferred settings sounds annoying. You'd think Ford would rather the car remain in the owner's preferred settings vs constantly reverting back. It would limit any wear and tear on the components involved for constantly switching these modes, etc... I guess it must not be an issue, or Ford would've changed it by now.

I have a GT and the low fuel is always making noise!!!!

Recaro seats suck.

Ok the left side fuel door thing is dumb. Car makers try to make the fuel door on the drivers side of the car so that you don’t have to circle the car in the rain. Cars that have the fuel door on the opposite side are typically designed in rhd countries and sold in the world market.

Is it a pain to wax with vinyl stripes? I like the stripes but would think twice before getting them due to wax build up and eventual peeling

Are those engines a crap?... The high oil consumption end up on engine failures. Thoughts

i know on my acura for the windshield wipers i have the same thing. u can manually pull the wiper out a little (first time doing it i thought it would break it) But it just moves out a little and allows you to lift the driver side wiper. On my car its meant to be pulled out a little for that reason. Kinda pulls out and the wipers goes in a floating mode it feels like. hope that makes since and helps you out.

About the valves: hit the start button without hitting the clutch, (accessory mode) and switch the valves to open, then start the car. (If that works)

If you turn the wippers on then grab and hold them when they are in the vertical Position the motor will go into fault mode and tirn the motor off. Now you can put the wiper off the windshield

My Gt says @ 1/4 tank left to check fuel "Low fuel" & always have to push O.K. ! When are you changing the factory oil in your car to a full synthetic oil ? I just hit 3000 miles on my 2016 GT and went with the new Mobil 1 Annual Protection & so far it's great oil ! Take a look at it & they make a nice Mobil 1 filter too ! Next I plan a Borla - attack Cat backs 3'' & cold air intake ! on my GT...

You don't have to get that close to the pump, plenty of hose. Fuck it goes off at 1/2 tank, SO WHAT! I have the car, I will tell both sides of all your stories

I almost bought a 2018 gt350 but had to many flaws like the car hauler didn’t care about the car little dings there was some stress cracks in front bumper how does that happen oh by the way I’m in south side suburbs in Chicago Illinois

If the air vents are the same shape on both sides swap them. They probably aren't but it's just a thought

Lol hearing you complain about the gas mileage 4 years ago is kinda funny since gas prices are at an all time high right now.

You could probably find out the fuse for the exhaust valves and pull it while they are open.

The only thing I like about the GT350 is that front end. I dislike the engine and exhaust that sounds too European. The powerband is too high so it is slow from a dig while having over 500 horsepower.

I've sat in the 2017 Mustang GT. Found that there was not enough legroom. ... right knee hitting the steering wheel. There are no 350GT's in my area for 50 miles. Do you know if both cars (GT350 & GT) have the same legroom.

When I downshift from 6th to 5th in my 2017 GT350 the valves open (assuming you had them in sport before shifting to 6th). Not sure why yours dont.

Decent enough video. Maybe a slower talking pace would be good and being more to the point. I was curious as to your dislikes and I have mine as well. I have a 2016 track pack car. Some of yours are the same as mine and by far #1 for me is it doesn't remember the exhaust valve position. Its annoying to have to go through the menu with each start opening it. I have to respond to your point about you going from 6th to 5th and the valve doesn't return to the open position. With my car it returns to the open position upon downshifting. Not sure what is going on with your car. It would be totally annoying to have it working as your car is. I'm aware of your other dislikes but they are a very distant second for me. I really enjoy this car...the sound and feel of it on the road is simply marvelous. I'm not sure why someone hasn't come up with a software download where we can go in and change things to just the way we want them by now. BMW has had this figured out for years now.

hi every/1....ive had my 16 gt-350 now for almost 1 year.....i love this car/hands down. i have the tech. package/ when i pull into a dr. way im a sucker for constantly scraping the front chin spoiler/i try so hard sometimes & it still happens//even when i slow down; people look & shake their heads....i freeekin hate this. is there any mod that can be done???? ill appr. any advice/thanks.

Love my GT350, I traded my 2015 mustang GT with all the bells, whistles and pretty lights, plus the mods we did. Could not be happier, this beast is bad ass, shadow black. No stripes, so stealth and just got the windows tinted. Quit bitching, you bought a 60,000 car that should cost twice that much, its a beast and oh so fun to drive.

The only thing I don't like is the retarded dealer mark ups on the GT 350R.. The lack of production numbers on the GT 350R. The lack of a 10 speed automatic option. There are fourteen color options and there are four hues of blue instead of being more creative with color options. That's about it

I would think that this car being a much heavier car would be a dislike since your last car was like 1050 lbs lighter.

I'm surprised yours doesn't have piston slap. My 2016 slaps like mad, and it drives me up the wall. Supposedly it's 'normal' though, so not much I can do about it.

Yes, your first point, very good idea, and I agree, I have a Honda which has 3 driving mode's of Eco, Normal or Sport..so why don't it stay where you left it?...A: stupidity on engineering end. Besides that there are probably 10 other things like that. So why not just let the owner program what they want? Like stereo off when key is in park instead of door open, how many times I wished my frikin '12 Camaro would do that. Another example: If I park, (my '12 Cammy) turn the engine 0ff, than turn the key back to aux. the ventilation is off until you move the fan speed knob...(I can see the GM executives laughing at us mortals (Lexus driving democrats). O.K, one more: LiGhtS on and off at their own will? What if the SHTF and you were being chased a huge MRAP tank like truck with a U.N. Flag on top and you wanted for the lights to stay off till you turn them on...again..(I won't pollute this with profanity..but admit it..they are trying to piss us off). But even if you were in the vehicle, with the key in any position, those lights are going to call big brother for you.

Really?........Most of your nit picks are centered around the performance sounds....A coworker bought a GT350, had it 3 months then sold it and bought a Nissan GTR. When I asked him why he told me the Shelby is like that woman you went out with and had the night of your life...Very exciting, but you would never want to marry her.....

Yup. I'm averaging 10-11 mpg in mine and I'm still breaking it in at 300 miles. The short commutes actually work against me.

Since I have the exact same car, color, stripes everything. I HATE NOTHING ABOUT THIS CAR. I average 12/13 mpg and it could be 5/6 for all I care. I love the gas on my side.

I'll buy one when Ford sells a model without any electronic junk on it. I'd love to drive a model that is sport mode all the time with a simpler radio and an uncluttered steering wheel.

I liked your dislike video specifically because it had original things you didn’t like, most people just do the same old dislikes that all ya S550 owners are already aware of.

lol my 4 banger veloster n gets like 13-16mpg in the city. if i drive it like a complete pussy shifting at 2k rpms like the computer wants you to, i could get like 21mpg city. hauling ass on the fwy going 85+ i’ll average 27-30mpg.

A row of toggle switches instead of this computer crap would fix this for the owners and be cheaper for Ford produce. Also, fuel consumption test video in the future? My experience with Fusions is they get better MPGs (according to the car itself,) when I drive in S, the sportier mode. Normal driving, not flogging it of course. Red stripe on the steering wheel, no matter the color of the car?
