In my 60’s and have been both natural and relaxed for decades as I do whatever works best at that time in my life. Today I’m relaxed. Never worn wigs, weaves, braids etc in my life. I wear my wear out daily except for the occasional bun. It works for me! At this age I have to enjoy it now. I save nothing for later or a special occasion. Every day is a special occasion because I woke up. 👍🏾. Great tips!

So I used a Lye relaxer for the first time today, I love it. I have fine hair but my middle gets real thick when my new growth comes in. When I was natural back in 2019 to 2020, my hair grew but not pass my shoulders. Once I started relaxing every 3 months or longer in 2020, my hair is now almost arm pit length. I deep condition like crazy and wash my hair weekly. I use a hair bond, not Olaplex, I can't think of the name right now, I went blank, lol, but Ulta sells it, that helped my hair with the growth as well. I drink plenty of Core water as well. I love your tips.

Only works if your hair dries in 8 hours naturally. Some unfortunate souls have hair that us still wet after 48 hours and that is bad for the hair and the scalp. Bacteria and fungus love warm damp dark places. Hygral fatigue/mushy happens in strands that have been wet for too long.

Yeah … I feel you on the double heat. I have a blow dryer & a flat iron but usually when I do my weekly washing and conditioning.. I usually blow dry my hair then put my hair in a loose bun or ponytail… I have a $200 flat iron & I barely use it. I don’t see the need plus blow drying AND flat ironing that’s too much work… also I workout a lot so ain’t no point in doing all of that when I workout 5x per week 🤷🏽‍♀️

For a tip if you don’t want to use harsh dye on your hair then I would recommend using henna dye for your grays. It’s natural, safe for your scalp and it actually strengthens your hair. It will make your grays somewhat between a dark brown to a light auburn color depending on application, and will make your hair a deep reddish-brownish color but only really visible in the sunlight (bc of your dark strands).

Texlax is for me. I wear wigs due to time. Take it off when home. 8 weeks between relaxers. No braids or twists no flat ironing just smoothing with a warm pressing comb. Placed in a back twist supported by a nonbrakage rubber band. No combing for three days. No breakage seen. Good hair growth. Trim as needed, but not cut just dusting. My hair grows slowly about less than half inch a month. But it is thick. Less see thru. Shoulder length. Use bjco. 3 time a week. Wash with conditioner. Silk scarf at night. I just had to come back to this video to let you know that I wish you were my stylist!! I just got a relaxer the other day, and while she's good for the most part, she does some things that I just don't agree with, like aggressively combing through my WET and freshly relaxed hair with a fine tooth comb. I look over and see a lot of my hair in the comb! I asked if she had a wide tooth comb instead (which she goes to get an even thinner comb🤦🏾‍♀) and says that just gets all my shedded hair out and a wide tooth comb wouldn't have got it. I know my hair wasn't shedding THAT much! That had to have been more than just 'shedded hair.' Then, she end up clipping too much of my ends off...taking off the results I worked hard for, even though I told her I only wanted the very ends clipped off..no more than necessary. And she end up getting frustrated with me! Since I'm paying HER my money, I should have a right to bring up any concerns about my hair! She gets offended every time I ask a question or make a comment like it's a personal attack on her..🤦🏾‍♀. Sorry so long! I just wish I could find somebody else. 💯
@HairliciousInc
@HairliciousInc 3 года назад
Wow. You see this is what I truly cannot stand about some stylists!! How is it that she’s getting upset when you are a paying client simply expressing your preference on how you would like your hair to be handled for healthier longer hair?! It baffles me. I understand your position because I’ve been there before. If she’s not on board with your healthy hair goals, you should probably start looking for another stylist. Many of them are set in their ways and it makes zero sense arguing and going back and forth. If she’s open to your hair goals and healthy hair journey, I would suggest that you bring your own wide tooth comb for her to use and to gently comb from the ends up. As for trims, ask her to cut gradually. Stress that. Because when you cut off too much, there’s no going back from that. So ask her to cut off a small amount then check to see how your ends look, then proceed if more needs to be taken off. It’s a struggle but I hope things work out for you💕

It’s been twenty weeks since my last relaxer at the end of this month I’ll relax it.. i havent’t used any heat for seven years now I’ve learned the hard way. My hair is healthy because of it… I dry my hair thoroughly with a t-shirt and let it dry naturally…

I'm relaxed as well, long protective hair styles work for me, I don't do hot treatments, I'll use keratins and proteins as well, I also do lye relaxers too. I shampoo in the sink, but I think I'll try the shower again. I do relaxers from 10 - 20 weeks, depending on the season, I double heat because blow drying isn't it without a bristle brush, but air drying takes way to long for me. I don't comb in the shower either, but I only comb once per day or use my hand to detangle for the rest of that day. I also comb my hair the day of my relaxer because I am tender headed, so if my natural hair isn't detangled, I'm feeling that pain. I also don't dye my hair or self trim.

Same. It was the trichologists that told me to only do twists, flat twists, finger coils and two or three French braids. Anything else was causing micro fractures on my strands. They showed me under the trichoscope.

I'm 71... really big chopped and went natural 2016.... my hair now is a bit pass waist length...hoping it'll grow longer with care! No braids, no protective styles, no hair weave,no wigs,no texturizer, no relaxers, no heat... not stuck buying too many products ....it's a no for me😂 I just couldn't stand the smell of relaxer and neutralizer anymore. I really started considering My Health i didn't want the relaxer going in the pores of my scalp 🤦🏾 Everyone has a choice relaxed or natural👍🏼 Different Strokes for different folks!😁 TAKE CARE EVERYONE! Thanks for sharing! I don’t do some of these also. Like long term protective styles. I have done them, but they usually only last for about 4 weeks. Haven’t done it in years though. But some I do do! Lol. Like washing my hair in the sink. I can’t get jiggly with going in and out of the shower. It uses so much much water and I hate water in my ears. I’ve learned to wash and rinse sideways in the sink.

I have to condition before deep conditioning since they don't tend to have enough slip to comb my hair out. I actually like to condition, detangle, and add my deep conditioner on top since I feel like deep conditioners can cause tangles even after combing it. To make sure the deep conditioner works as well as possible I keep like with like (aussie 3 min miracle on top of aussie moist, shea moisture over shea moisture or some other botanical silicone free conditioner, trader joes hair mask with the tea tree tingle, etc)
@runwithsuzan
