I am an ex RCCL crew member and met my now-wife on board 16 years back, Now we have been happily married for the last 14 years with 2 kids, the point is it all depends on the people involved, we both were very committed to each other and here is the result, When asked I always say- a cruise ship is not everyone`s cup of tea, its a lifestyle either you have it or you don't.
Dating is so different for women.. "If that doesn't work out, you're going to see someone else. If that doesn't work out, you're going to see someone else. If that doesn't work out..." Lady, you just described about nine years of my life.
Yeah I agree. If things got really bad then the break-up is almost a "blessing in disguise". But in a circumstantial break-u, all those romantic and lustful feelings are still there.
Wise insight and advice, especially the part about not being able to know someone as well as you would on land vs. on a ship. There's so many aspects of life that you don't deal with on board.
QUESTION: it would be interesting to see you discuss this alongside of an experienced male crew member. There are certain subjects like relationships that differ between males and females and it would be cool to see you and a male crew member compare and contrast stories and perspectives.
Different ages as well as in 20's vs 30's, etc. I have only taken a couple of cruises in my life, so can only compare dating then breaking up when I was waiting tables and made the mistake of dating another waiter. I was young and actually thought he cared. Silly me!
I met and fell in love with a man from Montenegro on my first contract. He’s getting off tomorrow and I’m getting off in about 10 days. I’ll be spending about a month and a half in Montenegro on my break and I’m so excited and nervous to see how the relationship progresses on land.
Hi Sarah. I'm a blackjack dealer in Illinois considering dealing on a cruise. Which cruise line think is best? Hoping for a short contract. Ne hints or tips?
Thank you for the memories. This sounds exactly what it’s like to be in the military. Especially on remote assignments for only one year. Yes is not solely exclusive to the cruise industry.
Really does kinda remind me of Uni. You see people daily, and don't really know how a relationship will continue after graduation when everyone got their own goals and dreams to persue.
Many many years ago (30 something) I found myself in a strange situation, I was in the US, but had to leave for 3 months while my green card was going through. I had two choice, head back to the UK or head to a ship. Thanks to my fathers position with a line I ended up being put onboard on of the ships in a made up position of Captains assistant. My job had two parts to it, make sure the Captain had a full cup of coffee when he was on the bridge and.....Find his bike when he forgot where he put it somewhere on the ship (if you worked for a certain line 30 something years ago you may well know the Captain I am talking about).... Anyways, to make life easier for everyone, instead of putting me in the crew cabins, I got to use my dads cabin, this would be more like a suite than the 4 to a cabin 4 cabins sharing a shower type set up the rest of the non officers had. Word pretty quickly got around that the 19 year old who was following the Captain around had a suite, a shower of his own and a bath tub. More importantly, he wasn't a scumbag who expected certain favors for use of those facilities. I actually took my coffee and bike duties seriously, however, the times I ended up having in that room were something I will never forget.
You are quite creative and love how you tell the truth of how it really is on cruise ships. Wish I could meet you in person someday because I’m a huge fan of your channel. I always look forward to the next video…you are so much more entertaining than what is broadcasted on television now days. Thank you!
Land relationships mostly start as hook-ups and there is very little dating. Also, the data from major dating sites and apps indicate, about 80% of the women are dating the same 20% of men, and most of their interest and activity is directed at less than 5% of men. I wonder if the same is true on ships because given the limited pool, it would be much more obvious this was happening.
@@Rohit-tp7qx that really is off topic. She was lamenting men on apps wanting sex not relationships. The apps may add to men’s natural inclinations over in person relationships. That said, even in face to face meetings, men generally want a women physically and a desire for something more comes afterward…. It’s the same both in person and online for the most part.
@@MrZola1234 I worked in cargo ship we had males and females they genrally go for people who provide emotional support cause in ship its very lonely with very limited stuff to do
I guess some folks are on cruise ships because they prefer new relationships on a regular basis, new contract, new love, or what they perceive as such. They enjoy the butterflies they get of new relationships where the only guarantee is at the end of 6 mos it'll end and, by that time, they'll be ready for another. Its like having an affair with a married person, in a sense, eventually they have to go home.
Omg the lying thing ! So true! Haha at one point I even pretended that I was a lesbian, just to get people off my back 😅 because as soon as certain people know .. they try to ruin things 😢
Hey. Love is Love. It all boils down to what's more important to you. Being a 30-year sailor and away from home a lot: I've had plenty of relationships erode over time. sigh...
On one of my 90's cruises,a cabin mate hooked up with a lovely woman and-to the best of my knowledge-are still together. Sadly, despite all my cruises,I didn't have the same fortune. But,later I discovered se asia and in my 60's hook up with women the same age as on my previous cruises!
Smart advice! Love you mention I 95, think its great all cruise ships use that as their huge hallway, to everything crew.... I 95 , runs North and South on the Eastern coast of the US.....have been on it a Bazillion times, since it goes right thru Philadelphia. Also have been on it on many cruise ships! Vickie from SE Pa
Wow Lucy... I would need to be watch my back... I see myself been work centric and money focused... and working my way up in the shortest period of time. Thanx again for your time! G
i met my boyfriend on bord and i have to say i really really enjoyed our time on bord. It was a super genuine connection and i believe that helped us alot. We spent everytime we could together and up to date were still going strong (were both at home since 3months)
i like your videos, very informative, i ve watched alot of them, even though i m not gonna work for a cruise line,.i still find it very informative,... i also like your accent
It’s different for passengers….my brother met his wife on a carnival cruise and they have been married now over 40 years and were in different states when they met on ship…4 years later they married. Ps no babies involved.
I am married now for 23 years on land... before we were married we spent ALL our free time together because we wanted to... for 9 months before we got married.
Hi! You mentioned in an earlier video that you have a heart condition so I hope you don't mind me asking - how do people get medication on board? I take daily meds but im sure no GP would give me a 9 month supply? Do you know anyone who manages to be crew while taking daily prescibed meds?
One of the things you said is try your best in the initial stage just to keep it a secret but I would think that's what trillion possible on a ship as you said a small town everybody knows everybody's business you sent me you have one place that you guys eat people are going to figure it out
I was thinking about applying for a job on Virgin, and I came across 1 of your videos. You give great content. I'm definitely gonna subscribe to your channel. Thank you.
It's the same in the Royal Navy, but its not allowed formally. No fratinisation rule is in force. You can be together but not be together if that makes sense? I had never been on a ship with girls and then moved to one and it was like HMS Loveboat! This girl is an absolute babe by the way. Gorgeous and seems very grounded and intelligent.
Many years ago my wife used to visit me on board. My buddy’s wife came on board as well, He had spent some time on cruise ships. I hadn’t, his wife introduced mine to a new term in the bar when referring to another lady, to another common crew term. “A stripe f@#$er”
You mentioned Yulia, was she ever on a Carnival ship? The Legend? I know there was a Yulia from Ukraine that worked at the Alchemy Bar, and she is awesome!!
First off i love the videos, keep up the good work. Second of all my family and I will be cruising out of Galveston Texas this coming summer. We will be taking our 8 year old son on his first cruise with us. We will be cruising on Carnival Cruise lines. Have you ever worked for Carnival or know anyone who has and what they thought of the cruise line? Got any funny stories of about kids being on a cruise ships? Just some ideas for some topics maybe. Keep the videos coming!
Wowzers. You absolutely don't have to answer this. I'm probably over the line but if on virgin more of you have your own cabin is it more condusive to a hook up culture or are you more likely to be able to form meaningful relationships or does it not really make a difference compared to other cruise lines? Like I would guess that there is maybe less space for maybe officers to build relationships with a big power imbalance if more people have their own cabins?
